  1. I doubt there's a full surgebinder. It would be just way too insanely powerful. A windrunner should already be stronger than a mistborn. Now multiply that by ten. Edit:
  2. I remember when I read the first Sword of Truth book. Let's just say I didn't read the next.
  3. Just noticed that with all the editing, the honorblades got dropped. Maybe change "Surgebinding" to "Surgebinding (via spren or honorblade)".
  4. I'm not sure the cannon would work.
  5. With the higher orders of Spren, their own perception of themselves might be enough to keep them in existence, since they are sentient unlike the other types.
  6. I don't think they'd change the text like that, however. Weren't some of the past Glimpses conversations? Those were kept in the same format as they had been before.
  7. Almost seems like he's talking to himself here.
  8. Nalthis if I'm rich. Immortality is nice. Elantris otherwise, for all the reasons swimmingly gave.
  9. I don't believe you're violating any spoiler policy at all. If you are, then this whole thread is, since we've all been posting the Glimpses on here.Anyways, good speculation. That is the general consensus on that glimpse.
  10. Wow, pretty much everything I would have said has been said already. Oh well. The Gentleman Bastards(yes, all of them) from the, well, Gentleman Bastards series Arya Stark, and Tyrion Lannister (though only in the first few books) from ASoIaF Kaladin and Szeth from WoK Lightsong from Warbreaker Kelsier, Wayne from Mistborn Glokta from First Law Tehol and Bugg from Malazan
  11. Still, Brandon usually does have some sort of scientific basis.... Wait. Could Lift be generating magical lubricant in an extremely thin layer over the surface? And for increasing friction, generating a sticky layer?
  12. Actually, friction is also partially caused by electrical bonds between the surfaces. As an aside, this all makes me very curious as to how exactly Slicking works, since friction is caused by so many factors and nullifying any of them should have very strange side effects. There's the roughness of the materials, the electrical bonds, and the plastic deformation from the objects being pressed together. The only way I can think of to get rid of those is getting rid of electromagnetism... Which would also make Lift break apart and fall through the floor.
  13. More Old Magic stuff: wasn't there a guy who was cursed to see everything upside-down?
  14. Doesn't duct tape use friction, though? I do agree with the sentiment.
  15. I think he says sorry because he feels sad about what will happen to her. If this is the Stormfather and Syl, then that would makes sense: even though she disobeyed him and bonded with a surgebinder, she is still his 'child', so he regrets that someone is coming for her.
  16. Oh, okay. I thought you meant ways to increase stormlight retention, rather than boosts that come from stormlight retention. Actually, that's what the Ideals do. Do those count?
  17. Yes, it does. But if you added a basic lashing to the full lashing, then it would probably stay better.
  18. De nada. Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "Stormlight Retention Boosts"? I'm probably just being dense here.
  19. Just found it. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/4884-havent-you-always-wanted-magic-fish/
  20. Friction will keep them in place, however. The atmospheric pressure presses the objects so tightly together that the friction between them is greatly amplified. That's why suction cups work, even with just a slight pressure differential. With complete vacuum, you could have some really crazy suction.
  21. Don't we have a WoB on the magic fish being just another animal/spren symbiosis example?
