Surgebinding Mistborn? More Speculations about Hoid
PorridgeBrick replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We starting to make a notation for Intent interactions then? Lemme try it out. Devotion + Dominion. Preservation -> <- Ruin. ... You know, there really aren't cases for a shorthand system to be useful.- 44 replies

Double Chromium, so I'm lucky enough to find a bucket of Lerasium and Atium just lying along the road. -

Surgebinding Mistborn? More Speculations about Hoid
PorridgeBrick replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
True. So maybe the third system would be of all three then, which actually makes a lot of sense, since it seems like fabrials are able to trap any kind of spren, not just Cultivation's.@Weiry. Thanks. I was actually trying to do that, but I couldn't figure out how to directly link the quotes.- 44 replies

Long Game 2: The Devil's Den
PorridgeBrick replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Outside the inn, the day is shadowed. The sun wears a veil of dark clouds and ash, mourning the dawn it has brought. The air lies unmoving, wrapped in the chill stillness of death. Only the dust breaks the peace, black tears falling slowly, dream-like, onto the waiting ground. In this fell morn waiting are the dead. They watch as their comrades and enemies alike drop, one by one, into their embrace. They do not judge. They merely wait, with unending patience, for the arrival of their fellows. They will not have much more to wait.- 1232 replies

This will be one awesome fight scene. Parshendi shapeshifers vs. Surgebinders with infinite stormlight in a giant, unmoving hypercane.

Surgebinding Mistborn? More Speculations about Hoid
PorridgeBrick replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
My personal theory is that Voidbinding is of Odium and Cultivation, and Fabrials are of Cultivation alone. If I'm right, then it's probably because Cultivation is perfectly compatible with both Honorable and Odious traits, while Honor and Odium are incompatible.- 44 replies

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
PorridgeBrick replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's on the Coppermind. Iirc they're, in order, Pressure, Gravity, Division, Friction, Growth, Illumination, Transformation, Transportation, Unknown Surge, and then Surface Tension (title not yet finalized). -
We don't really know yet. It depends on how reverse compounding works. If you can feruchemically store allomantic powers like some think, then you could probably choose between the two. If you can't, though, then you will just be storing your regular sight.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
PorridgeBrick replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
1.Well, there's still one unknown surge. It could be Magnetism, for all we know. 2.You might be interested in the conversation going on here. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6152-surgebinding-mistborn-more-speculations-about-hoid/page-2 4. Oh, okay. I'm pretty sure that's how it works, but I could certainly be wrong. -
Would you even be able to tap your alternate identities? After all, you can't tap someone else's metalminds, and that is based on Identity. If the stamp is different enough from normal you, then you'd have to be stamped again with it to tap from that stamp's metalminds.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
PorridgeBrick replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There is no Magnetism Surge that we know of.There is only one magic system on Sel, with different manifestations for different regions. And for your "other Shardworlds", the only planet we know of that behaves like that is Scadrial, which is hardly enough to find a pattern from. IDK. Explain. -
Surgebinding Mistborn? More Speculations about Hoid
PorridgeBrick replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kw=30+magic+systems It's the 8th result. http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt=fabrial' 1st result. @Moogle Lots of nice thoughts there. It makes me wonder what mechanisms determine which combinations are expressed. Is it from how compatible the Intents are?- 44 replies

Nicrosil: Changes the target's action into its Uber equivalent (so Thugs would have two extra lives as opposed to 1, Coinshots/Lurchers have double strength, Seekers can pierce Copperclouds, Smokers and their targets register as normal villagers, Tineyes listen in to the PMs, a Rioter's changed votes would count as two votes, and a Soother would soothe an additional target who voted for the same person as their original target).

Surgebinding Mistborn? More Speculations about Hoid
PorridgeBrick replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We know from WoB that there're 30 magic systems on Roshar, which can also be seen as 10, just accessed in three different ways. We also know that the third way, the one that isn't Void- or Surge- Binding, involves fabrials.- 44 replies

Baxil's Mistress is almost certainly Shallash. It can't be a surge, since we know the Lightweaver's surges already.
