  1. Nope, just speculation. We do know, however, that several orders, including Willshapers, would be perfectly fine or even applaud his murder of Sadeas. Strangely, however, Shallan's, and Jasnah's, eyes haven't changed even though they're at high enough levels to have Blades. I suspect it may have to do with being Lighteyes, though it may just be that the change is still to come.
  2. We do have a tendency to branch off onto other subjects, don't we?
  3. Btw, can there be multiple Agents from each side? What with there being 30 of us and all.
  4. I think I remember him being Steel Inq at 2267. I just kept forgetting to post it.
  5. Well obviously that's not allowed. But that has nothing to do with the fact it says OOC next to it. That's just because it uses personal connections. If you somehow managed to work that into roleplay it would be just as bad. Saying "OOC - I'm not Spiked" is definitely rather stupid and pointless, but it's not like it'll really make a difference either way.
  6. Rysn- To be Storming Suicidal
  7. But then everyone would be bonding. There's a lot of people who've had awful lives, and with ten orders I'm sure many would fit one to at least some extent. Remember, these Spren don't want just average people. They want the extraordinary ones, the ones that won't break their bonds. If they pick the wrong person they're dead. It's not elitist, it's basic survival skills.
  8. It might be useful if the other person doesn't realize what's happened. After all, Soothing/Rioting doesn't provide any feedback normally, so I don't think you could really tell if they were cleansed of your influence. If you're fast enough, you might be able to take advantage of that.
  9. I'll just revive this thread here before it dies down fully. Has there been any new info on this? Inkthinker, do you know now if you can confirm any of the Stances here? The speculation seems to be gone by now, so there's no reason to wait on that.
  10. Besides, it seems to me like Shallan's Memories aren't really just an enhanced version of her Creativity or Honesty, but a tool to use for both. Similarly, Kal's extraordinary battle perception and grace is a tool to aid him in Protecting others, and his squires are a tool in Leading. The Skybreaker's abilities in rooting out sin is a tool to help them be Just. The Truthwatcher's future sight is a tool to make them more Learned. The passive abilities don't just enhance the pre-existing traits. Sure, they can be used that way, but they're separate from them – battle skills can be used to kill, and one don't necessarily have to do anything once they find out a crime.
  11. Out of character doesn't mean out of game. Doing things out of character means you can talk about gameplay, mechanics, etc without having to incorporate it into your roleplay. Trying to make all that fit into roleplay believably is way too restrictive and time consuming. I really don't think anyone is going to trust OOC messages any more than IC, so there's really no reason that to think talking in OOC fosters trust or anything.
  12. Huh. Weird. I still haven't gotten mine yet. Oh well.
  13. "I thank you all, for coming here today to share in the glory of the Glorious One." The Stick surveyed his newest congregation from his seat on the dusty road. A drunk, still slumped unconscious against the wall from the previous night's stupor, garishly red shirt clashing with the dark stains of food and drink. A bird, sorting through the night's leavings with its pointed beak, pointedly ignoring all. A mouse, perched comfortably on the drunk's shirt as it nibbled on the crumbs. Truly, this congregation was his worst yet. But, with the guidance of the Stick shining from on high, he would persevere, would spread the faith far and wide. Oh, so wonderful to be the first to be given his Lord's message, to be the chosen. To be gifted this chance, to restart his life anew, without — Pain. Sharp pain, a wetness dripping down from his forehead. What was this? Distantly, he heard the clatter of feet up above, a startled squawk before him. The Stick looked down at his feet. A stick, one end painted with a single bead of red. A sign! At last, his Lord had spoken to him once more! "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, O Great One, O Wise One, O Holy One, for bestowing this message on me! Your meaning is clear to me, the slightest twig of your majestic leafy Glory! I now know my mission!" With that proclamation, the beggar ran madly off into the distance, salty tears joining the crimson on his face.
  14. Though likely there is some Honor equivalent of the Heightenings, by bringing you closer to Honor. It's just harder to observe because Stormlight fades so quickly, especially at higher levels of Investment. Voidbinders, however, can store stormlight perfectly, so they'll be a better guide. I wonder if this may have something to do with the ten levels of Voidbinding.
  15. Lifespren/Truthwatcherspren, too. Lifespren are called "living lights" by Kaladin, and the Truthwatcher's spren is a... living light. Plus, lifespren is very Cultivation-y, and fits perfectly with both of the order's Surges.
  16. I really doubt she'd mistake them from so up close. Spren are a daily part of everyone's lives. The question mark is because she didn't expect the bonding spren to be an angerspren– she didn't think she was going to bond something malevolent and angry. And so she says "This was wrong", because she realizes that the bonding is going bad, that what will happen next will be awful. It's not because she's correcting herself on her assessment.
  17. It could be similar to the situation with Honorspren and Windspren, however. Just take an angerspren, add some more Odium, and wallah, Stormspren.
  18. I think the best way to measure allomancy is through Feruchemical nicrosil. Have each possible Feruchemical nicrosil twinborn measure how much of their metal it takes to fill one metalmind of x mass. From that, you can compare the relative Investiture provided by each metal. Same with the other Feruchemical metals– just convert to a Nicrosilmind. Really, Nicrosilminds are the perfect unit of measure for Investiture Cosmere-wide, since you can store all the powers in it, and it will always be the same. Breaths vary, stormlight fades, the Mists are hard to quantify... but Nicrosil is permanent and exact.
  19. Because if he confirms it acts like an Honorblade, then he's essentially confirming that it can give Szeth abilities. I'm sure that will be a big part of the next book, so he RAFO'd it.
  20. I'm thinking into the Spiritual or the Cognitive. It's kinda like how as the physical storm goes along, it picks up stuff– rocks, plants, sediment, etc. So here, the Spiritual aspect of the storm picks up some of the Shardpool's power and drags it along with the storm.
  21. Most of the theorizing on there being a Shardpool at the Purelake isn't that it's the Purelake itself, but rather underneath it. We know from Ishikk that before every highstorm all the water in the Purelake disappears to a place beneath the lake through holes in the lake's floor. There doesn't seem to be much natural explanation for this, so possibly the Shardpool beneath could be what recedes, and the water merely fills the gap. It's nothing confirmed, but the overall weirdness and placement of the Purelake makes it a very plausible candidate for being effected by a Shardpool. Oh, that isn't canon anymore? I could have sworn Alendi's journal mentioned a metallic lake as well.Nope, I'm afraid. As good a guess as any, though. But do we know that's a hard and fast rule? After all, Endowment's Shardpool seems to be somewhere underground and leaking into the Hallendren jungle. Actually, I'm willing to bet it is on Braize. I'm sure he has a large amount of control over where his pool is, and it doesn't seem to me that Odium would want his power on another planet where someone could possibly grab it. I expect somewhere on Braize there is a zealously guarded cave where Odium's stashed his pool.
  22. So theoretically possible, but you would probably need to multi-spike Aluminum to be powerful enough to do it.
  23. The two swords are different actually. Not only are the physical descriptions different, but the first blade stays when "Taln" drops it, which is typical Honorblade behavior. However, I do agree that "Taln" is not the original Taln. At signings, Brandon has consistently refused to call him Taln, instead saying "the one who calls himself Taln". There's been quite a bit of discussion in this thread:http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7024-talns-identity/
  24. I don't think the chance of losing a Lifeless is necessary. You already have to waste a Breath, and then specifically predict the day you'll be attacked. @buying breath Personally, I'd do it on a case by case basis instead of every other night. After all, if everyone's hoarding breath and at the Fifth Heightening, there's no point to giving them more unless you want a lot of Nightbloods being waved around. But if everyone's Drab, then you desperately need to boost up the Breaths even if it means allowing buying two days in a row.
  25. Pfah, how dare you let your faith waver in the stick. The stick is all, the stick is great, the stick is great, the stick is a stick! The stick is far superior to stone. When stone is broken, it becomes rocks, then pebbles, then sand. It is weak-willed, wishy-washy, flimsy in its convictions. But shatter a stick, and what do you get? More sticks! Stick can not be changed, stick will always stay stick, stick will never be fire. It is this conviction that brought Taln, Ancient of Sticks, through 4500 of torture. Only when he lost his memory, and thought himself Ancient of Stones, did he falter. The stick stands tall. Stand tall with him, my fellow branches! Stand tall, while lesser beings burn, while lesser beings fall. The stick will see through it all! The stick was, is, and forever will be a stick!
