  1. There are, unfortunately, a lot of terrible events that are not as well covered as they should be. As an example...this. I'm afraid I haven't ever heard of this before.
  2. Partly, characterisation. I was already thinking of Sentry as an overbearing parent at best, downright facistic at worst. So she's a 180 flip from Lyla. Where Lyla's narration is meant to be Chaotic, Sentry, I think, needs to be more...controlled. Deliberate and precise, which are all words no one would ever use to describe my writing style. So she's harder to get in the mindset of. Also, I'm not sure what to post. Whether to have her go looking for Vandal personally or retreat and try to consolidate her own position. Partly, guess what I'm wondering what I need her to do to advance the story. EDIT And...now I'm wondering how Arsenal and Sentry would view each other.
  3. Yes.Northern Irish history is...complicated. The fact that many of the public figures who were associated with tragedies, incidents and controversies are not only still active but, in some cases, in government makes it more so.
  4. So... tossing this out to you guys. Do we have any information on how allomancy and forgery can interact with one another? Now, granted... I'm not sure if it would even be possible to soul stamp a metal. It might be that the size and intricacy of a soulstamp is such that an forger couldn't stamp it on something small enough to swallow, in which case.. well, I guess that answers that question. But could you stamp a metal to alter it's purity? Or -if an allomancer could ingest and burn a soul stamp- do we have any indications as to what would happen as a result of that?
  5. I wanted to try and find a picture of Fluttershy blushing so I could run it through imgflip and get the whole complimented fact across... Then I remember we're talking about google. I think "blushing Fluttershy" would be a bad word choice. Anyway, I'm really, really glad you like her! Hopefully I'll get Sentry done today, though I have run into a slight snag with her... ...And, on an unrelated topic: I found the TV Tropes page for this rpg!
  6. Because... he did? For the entire fight. This is basically how their conversation went down, or at least how I interpreted it. Granted, after the cloud, he could have started talking again... but Bruce kept on going. At some point, Clark was going to have to knock him out, as the minimum action required to resolve things.
  7. See, I misread that as 'stamp', and now I can't help but wonder what would happen if you carved a soulstamp on a piece of metal and an allomancer burned it...
  8. Funnily enough, that's... a point in the canon of both characters. I think their parents have always been "Martha Wayne" and "Martha Kent". I kinda liked it, actually.
  9. True. It just... sorta floored me as a revelation. (Also, if anyone can recommend ways to research history, I'm all ears. I tend to assume all information online is misinformation)
  10. They didn't hide it or anything. I just suddenly sorta realized that they never really covered it as it's own seperate subject. Too put in context for my "20th Century history" realisation, we covered the following: -World War I (albeit very basically in first year, with a major emphasis on the Somme) -The Roaring 20's -The Great Depression -The Rise of Facism in Italy and Germany -The Bolshevik Revoltion as a starting point to get into the Cold War -The irish Civil Right Movement -The Troubles We didn't not know about World War II or anything, but it just dawned on me that we mostly covered it either in terms of how it impacted domestic policy (during the war) or International Policy afterward. Actual, World War II itself? Nope. Also, it might be a major point that I'm Irish, so we focused more on Irelands history than England's. But still. I feel very self-concious and ashamed right now.
  11. I... I just realized my school never taught us about World War II. How did they manage to cover the entire 20th century without going into details of World War II?
  12. ...Fin? I'm not sure if that's a a typo, localisation, or what. But now I'm imagining a Futuama/Tangled crossover. (Though, er... I need to get Sentry done still. Sorry!)
  13. That's actually rather unfortunate. Because a thought just occured to me. I think I just turned this into a tragedy.
  14. Lyla had heard some people talk about how weird epics were; how their powersets could seem random or ill defined, how they could move and operate outside laws like "physics" and "gravity". She had always dismissed those claims; they were epics. Being able to do awesome stuff like that was in the name. Today was proving her thesis true because really, the weird part of today wasn't that a group of demi-gods had laid seige to a town; it was that a semi-naked lady was kneeling over her with a look and a whisper that bordered on the predatory. More importantly, she was dripping water over the camera. Lyla managed to squirm out of the grasp, the objects of her obsession and consternation momentarilly forgotten as she started wiping it down. "Don't be water damaged," she muttered. "Don't be water damaged, don't be water damaged, don't be water damaged..." A click of a button. For a second, it stalled, and a panic rose to the girls throat and 'It's broken, don't tell me it's broken, I didn't get copies of them yet, and there were some really cool ones and-' and the cheap camera whirred to life, the logo of some long forgotten, now defunct, pre-war company flashing to prominence. Lyla sighed with relief, straightening the camera around her neck again. She needed to get something better. A cheap digital camera was fine for every day use (or for covert picture taking), but it was just a matter of time before it gave up the ghost. If there was one thing she would concede, it was that epic's invariably brought with them a lot of wear and tear, and did she just say they would be friends? "Friends," she repeated, certain she had misheard. "You want me. To be friends. With Scribbler." Was Lyla dreaming? No; she dismissed that pretty quickly. Scribbler wasn't the epic she had dreams about, but that wasn't entirely relevant. She was still an epic, still one of the absolute coolest people - coolest things- ever and Lyla had just been asked to be her friend? "Yes," she said, her voice flat for a moment from the sheer, stunned prospect of it all. It didn't last long, and a second later, her eyes almost literally sparkling as she split into a toothy grin. "Yeah! We should all be friends," she repeated. "Besties! We're gonna be the closest, tightest, bestest friends foreverever!" She looked away from Scribbler for a second, back to whoever-she-was. She really needed a name for that face. Most people seemed to react to epics with screaming, obeisance, or both at the same time. Someone who seemed to get just how cool epics were on the other hand? Those were a rare few, rare enough that (coupled with no permanent damage being done), Lyla was more than willing to ignore her... empathetic greeting. "That's a cool cosplay," she announced. "Who are ya supposed to be? Regalia? I don't think she wears a bikini though. Actually, do any epics wear bikini's... anyway, cool costume!"
  15. Breakbacker - an epic with the incredible ability to cancel Patreon subscribers? Also, I feel like I need to just saw this as an offical thing... my Lyla posts suck. Or at least, the grammar in them sucks, since they have an obscene amount of run on sentances, disjointed narration and idea-hopping Just in case it wasn't obvious from the "epic fangirl" concept... just wanted to reiterate that it's intentional to try and make her sound manic. If that's not working, or it's bothering you guy's, though, let me know and I'll stop it.
  16. Maybe? Also, can I advocate Backbreaker instead? I have no idea who they are, what they can do, or what their role in the Reckonersverse is. But all I can picture from the name is this, and suddenly, everything makes sense.
  17. I've been waiting for my day off. Tomorrow. It's tomorrow. Salem and the Dalles will quake and the sky will break and I will post Sentry and Lyla stuff. ...if that's okay, I mean.
  18. Haven't seen the new companion. Haven't seen the trailer. Can someone explain?
  19. I keep meaning to try reading them, but Marvel just doesn't appeal to me these days. There are characters I like who ID be interested in reading, of course. I've been eyeing Captain Marvel and Power Man/Iron Fist for a while...
  20. For dice, I just use online rollers. If you have a computer to hand, set up a website, and boom. Your done. (Added bonus, you could set up youtube music to set the mood, or refer back to rules if you need something.)
  21. I recommend Pathfinder. The rules are available online -free and legally- so that's helpful in terms of easily available resources. Besides that, though, I'm learning too.so, same boat I'm afraid!
  22. Well, Civil War get's a UK release on the 29th. Right now, I'm off that day, so I'm planning on seeing the first showing. Anyone interested in a review afterwards?
  23. How do you guys come up with stuff? Broad question, I know...but I find myself really stumped at how to post in the RPG. If nothing else, I keep worrying I'm doing it wrong...so ID like to know how you veterans get it right.
