I've been meaning to watch Iron Blooded Orphans. I'm kind of curious about the mecha genre, but I've never really seen much of it. Gundam Wing left a big impression on me during the 90's, but no other Gundam series really aired in the UK since then. Then saw Neon Genesis and Gurren Lagann, but... that's still a tiny sampling. (I've recently been watching Kuromokuro, but... nearly done season 1, and I'm still not sure what I think of it.) Never saw Yu Yu Hakusho, but I did read the manga. It is pretty underrated; I can easily imagine a timeline where it became the Shonen codifier rather than Dragonball. But, like Bleach, I think it was more interesting when it was treated as an adventure story with cases, rather than action punch-punch genre.

What's your favorite.... ? (Forum game)
Quiver replied to Kestrel's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Depends on my mood. Ocarina is a classic, and trope codifier for the genre, so that's kind of like the baseline. Majora has a fascinating horror aestehtic to the whole thing, though I've never been able to actually finish it. And I really like Wind Waker. So... one of those three, don't make me choose. Favorite RPG? -
I just realized I hear Lyla as talking with the same voice that I hear for Haruhi Suzumiya. That... might be coloring how I write her going forward. No inconveniance! I suspect your timing might have been a bad thing here; due to holiday season, things haven't been active, and some of the RP's can be slow going sometimes anyway, which might be why the topic hasn't had a response. (I'm working on a Dalles post, I swear!) As for your post... I have no experience with Florist, so I'm gonna ignore anything to do with "does this match how he was portrayed before". I'm sorry. The way you have characterised him is interesting though. My assumption with Florist, from the name, would have been closer to the Poison Ivy, Ra's al Ghul ecoterrorist archetype, the guy who cares more about the natural world than the real one, which doesn't seem to be how your writing him. Though the inclusion of the Jungle Book does suggest that it's a character who cares very much about nature. I admit, I found the inclusion of that a little odd, and I still do; but then, pop culture is a part of the Reckoners universe. After all, in David's world, it means Hope. And, actually, it does a good job of describing the Dalles as a whole; the Lawful place, unlike the rest of the States, so putting an emphasis on keeping the law makes sense. Right now, I'd suggest continuing and getting Florist into interaction with another character, to show the shades of his personality.

You fool. Don't you realize that all depictions of Bill are gateways from his dimension to ours, you've doomed us all.

Bright spots, Silver Linings, and the Upside of 2016
Quiver replied to Quiver's topic in General Discussion
@TwiLyghtSansSparkles I did a thing, apparently. Besides that... 2016 is the year I finally pulled the trigger on role-playing. I started posting in Oregon. I also began picking up official rule systems, and have been playing Pathfinder campaign for a while. That's been fun. -
The easy answer to the topic title is that there were none. I think the common sentiment around here is that 2016 sucked, and the sooner 2017 dumps it in a shallow ditch, the better. ...but 2016 had good points too. It had to. So, in the spirit of unflagging optimism in the face of oppression... what good stuff did you guys experience during 2016? For my part... There was DC Rebirth. It took 5 years, but DC is finally getting it's comics in order across the board, rather than having one or two excellent lines amongst general mediocrity. General consensus has been that DC Rebirth has been a huge success, and it's hard to disagree. There're still bad titles, of course, but by and large, DC is in a much better creative point at the end of this year than they were at the start of it. It's nice to be able to say "I'm a DC fan" as something other than the punchline of a joke.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Quiver replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
The author of Watership Down has also died, according to BBC. I've never read or seen it, but I know that is a classic of people's childhoods, so. Basically, 2016 is terrible, right down to the wire. -

Echoing sentiment. 2016 has been the worst -
Can bad dreams be a pet peeve? There were (high)storms all night here, so I barely got any sleep...and what I did get was marred by dreams of ny boss shouting at me. The fact they've never done that changes nothing.

9 inch tall PVC Animated!Batman statue. Yes. -
I see what you did there. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles It isn't quite what you want, but there's a guy whose blog I follow. He does historical analyses of A Song of Ice and Fire, but he covers a lot of historical topics. He covered this in a blog post:

Hey, look at the bright side: you don't have to fly Ryanair. (Their CEO once proposed training stewards and stewardesses to fly planes as a cost-cutting measure.) It says a lot that they were the company who Deb, the sentient patch of Haze, was promoting at the live show in Ireland. "Ryanair! Because what goes up, must come down. Eventually."

A Hearthwarming Tail is Best Christmas Special. Hope ya'all enjoy whatever you have planned for the season, and happy New Year!

...So, you're gonna start flying Secessionist? (You dodged one bad joke, not two. I'm sorry.) But... I admit, I'm the type of person who would probably get over specific with regulations and technicalities. But yeah, at least try being nice and apologetic and sorry while you're enforcing asinine rules. It... doesn't make much of a difference, but still. It's nice to be nice, I guess?

I was going to make a joke about Bruce's good behaviour being a trap, but with nerves, that's probably less funny, more "WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT". So instead... I'll just say, again, best of luck, and I hope things work out okay.

So, the thread in the Creator Corner (and the fact I've been watching Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged) got me wondering about these kinds of games. I'm kind of curious to know if there are many players of them here? Personally... I can't say I have much (any) experience of TCG's. When I was a lot younger during the 90's anime boom, I picked up some Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but I was a dumb kid, so I didn't exactly put a deck or anything together, or play by the rules. I did pick up some Magic:The Gathering during my teen years, but... again, I was dumb. More than that, however, was the fact that I didn't really have anyone to play games with. None of my friends were interested in TCG's, and my brother wasn't exactly a fan either, so... Magic never really became a "thing" for me, though I know it still runs. Lately, I've been trying to learn the ruels for the Legend of the Five Rings RPG, which means I know that it started as aTCG, but again, no details. I've also heard about something called Wiess Schwarz which seems to be some kind of conflux anime game...? Again, not sure on anything beyond existance though. So... yeah. Random question of curiosity, I guess: any big time TCG players here?

Step 3: Profit? ...But yeah, that is a pretty dark cartoon.

Makes me think of Theoden. Depending on whether or not you agree that everything to do with the Battle of the Pelennor Fields is the best thing in fantasy, that may be a good thing. (I've said before, Eowyn vs the Witch King is my favorite fantasy moment period)

Obvious photoshop is obvious. If that's a cat, where are it's poisonous back quills?

As the title says; where did Kelsier and Vin get the sacks of boxings they must have used for all their coinshotting? My immediate assumption was that Kelsier had a stash of coins somewhere, or was stealing them from the nobles he was killing...but I don't recall them mentioning him looting the bodies, nor am I sure if nobles would carry around much loose change on their person in the Final Empire. I'm just curious since I'm sure at one point, Vin remarks that she basically throws a small fortune (at least for skaa) around carelessly, so... Yeah. Where do skaa Mistings get that kind of disposable income?

That job I've complained about all year. They handed out our Christmas bonuses. So what did I earn for my hours of drudgery? Only about a $100. Granted, that's in the form of a gift voucher, but the store it's for has pretty much everything I normally buy. In the month of Christmas, when my funds are flagging, this is greatly appreciated and I'm happy. -
Quick question, am I the only one who thought of Battlestar Galactic when the Fleet jumped into orbit over Scarif?
