  1. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles ...this is what you meant by the fully armed batallion, right @Deliiiiiightful?
  2. I have been busy with work lately, so I am only now getting around to watching the first half's of these seasons- or, more accurately, watch everything up to the Invasion crossover, then watch that as a three hour celebration. In the meantime... Flash, I'm generally liking. Another speedster big bad is kind of boring. I like how they differentiate the three speedsters from one another (the obsessive, the serial killer, the god) but still. I was really hoping that the Savitar news was a misdirect, and Doctor Alchemy was going to be the main villain this year. Honestly, I'm starting to think it's either a lack of creativity on the writers part, or lack of trust in their audience. Either they can't come up with a threatening arc villain that isn't a speedster, or they don't think the audience will believe it. Savitar's Megatron-like look is... a little odd, but y'know what? It kind of makes sense. Why would a god look like a human? Dunno if they're ever going to explain the connection to Hinduism though... Arrow has had a huge upturn in quality from last year. They kind of keep hitting some of the same beats with the recruits I think (how many times are Oliver and Renee going to play out their antagonism?) but that might be because I burned seven episodes in a day so it was more noticeable. Prometheus is a threatening guy, albeit it Arrow going back to the Slade Wilson/Malcolm Merlyn well... though given those two were the best villains and Arrow desperately needs to refind it's feet this year, I can let it pass. Especially sicne it's working. I dislike some of the plot that carried over from last season - Laurel's death was a complete waste - but the focus back on crime and making it a gritty drama definitely is an improvement. The new recruits are such a fresh injection of blood, and I'm glad that the romance has been dialed so far back. Also, Bratva! And Prometheus theory
  3. I'm a little late t this. But... Neill Gaiman wrote a short story using that as a premise. After all, as you point out, she's pale as snow, has lips like blood, and she's awoken from her sleep inside a coffin...
  4. I've been considering picking up Anima. Besides that... I was going to take part in a PbP Adeptus Evangelion game (RPG system based off of Dark Heresy) but it fell through.
  5. ...don't have pictures, but am I the only one picturing Vin and Human having a conversation from Dark Knight Rises?
  6. So, read about this concept and it sounds interesting. Figured I'd pitch it and see if anyone was interested. (Using Cosmere since that net seems most likely to be of effect here) What's a round robin? well, basically, it's collaborative storytelling between a group of writers, where each person writes a single chapter. So, someone writes chapter one. Someone else writes chapter two. Someone else writes chapter three. It goes on like that until the story ends. Each chapter can introduce new characters, concepts, plots, whatever...but I figure rules can be finalised if there is enough interest to give this a try. So...any interest?
  7. @Kestrel I get how frustrating it is to feel like you're just shouting in the wind. Sorry that that community didn't work out. I'd suggest, if your character is active in stuff, maybe giving notice that you plan on leaving, rather than leaving other RPers in the lurch or waiting. Other than that...band aid ripping sounds the way to go. As a suggestion, maybe take a page out of Benders playbook and make your own WoT RPG on this site? There's a few fans of it, and a few roleplayers here... (Amusingly enough, I was talking to a co-worker last night who is a big WoT fan and who has always wanted to roleplay)
  8. I think the State of Sanderson speculated writing time for the Stormlight books at about 18 months a book. Adding in him doing other project to recharge his creative batteries, I'm guessing we'll get a Stormlight book every two-three years. Considering that time in between releases is still filled with other books... I don't mind. If one of those books ends up being Nightblood, I'll be ecstatic. Haven't read Calamity, so no comment there.
  9. I feel like I should play Devil's Advocate and say that I think Hydra!Cap is a cool idea...for a What If story. Seeing how variations of a character would work? That's cool, and can highlight things about the real version of the character. And Steve's backstory has been so extensively re-written that Hydra!Cap IS just an alternate universe version of the character. (I don't want to call it a retcon though, since the rewriting of the past is the entire point. We aren't learning a secret History of Steve Rogers that changes everything; the point of the story is that Steve has had his history changed by external forces, here are what those changes are and how they are affecting the modern day) The problem is, rather than a one-off story, this is being pushed as 616!Rogers. If this was an AU!Steve, I think it would be a lot less controversial. The fact that it's the Steve, and is the only depiction of the character right now, is what tips it over the edge. For comparision...there have been stories published about Superman where his rocket landed in Soviet Russia, on Apokolips, and in Nazi's Germany, and he grew up with those beliefs instead of Truth, Justice and the American Way. Those stories are interesting in that they shine a different light on Superman and show how he would react in situations which would be unthinkable...but they are always, solidly, not the "real" Superman. For Hydra!Cap...there is no "real" Steve right now. This is the real Steve now. And, like when Doctor Octopus took over Peter Parker body and became the Superior Spider-man...it'll be undone. But just as fans were (understandably) bothered that their hero, the audience surrogate for many, was being taken if the board and being written as irresponsible and not a good hero... Well, there are lots of reasons why Hydra!Cap is insulting and infuriating. But I do think one of them is the fact that there is no real Steve Rogers to balance it out. if you want a "good" Cap, you're forced to read Sam's book, which is...rather expressly political. To say nothing of the fact that Steve Rogers has his own fans who don't want a Captain America book, they want their Captain America. And they should be able to read him, without having it be this dark mirror version of the character. EDIT Cool...is actually the wrong word. Hydra!Cap is interesting as a high concept tagline. A story where the world's greatest superhero is secretly the world's greatest supervillain, playing everyone like puppets abd moving pieces across the board, is a compelling concept. The fact that it's happening in the real universe is part of the gimmick -that this isn't an AU or dark future, this is the real world right now- but that is, obviously, really frustrating. For a point of comparision... in X-Men, Sabertooth is currently a hero. But not because of any arc or character development. He got whammied by a magic spell, so he's good now. That is...ridiculously frustrating. Cap is in a similar situation. His current status quo isn't a thing that developed from the character; he got whammied by external forces.
  10. You want a panel? I can show you the panel. It was, of course, revealed to be a massive fake out on the Jokers part. (The Batfamily's part. He actually had his own face cut off at the end of the New 52's Detective Comics #1. For...reasons?) Now, cutting off Alfred's hand and implying that he might be an actual supernatural entity that has haunted Gotham for centuries...those were things that did happen. Though again, the latter was gently walked back...though I think, as with a lot of Snyder's run, it's ambiguous enough that if you want the Joker to be Githam's literal Devil, you could do it. Snyder made his name as a horror writer, so a lot of his plots end on that uncertain "the end...or is it" line.
  11. That too. Death in the Family is just not a very good book. Concept is cool, execution is...not. Similar complaints could be levelled at Death of the Family, actually. The Joker as the bogeyman of Gotham hiding under your bed, knowing all your secrets, is a neat concept The Joker wearing his severed face like Leatherface, then slicing off the Batfamily's faces and serving them as food is...not.
  12. So...do you guys have any odd little tics that you do? Speaking personally... I have a tendency to juggle things a lot. Well, sort of. If I'm carrying something in one hand - like a glass, a remote, a piece of food - I have a tendency to toss them into the air and catch them. Is a very bad habit I try to restrain to un-breakables only. (I used to carry a coin around and flip it a lot when I was in school. Kind of grew out of that thanks to my OCD tendencies)
  13. So, on a rambling comic side note...DC might Death in the Family into an animated film. I think I need to talk about what a terrible idea this is.
  14. I have my first driving lesson today. So far, the best advice I've heard is "Don't hit things."
  15. Me: "I might go see Assassin's Creed" Co-worker: "It's sitting at 17% on Rotten Tomatoes" Me: "If I see one movie this year, it'll be Assassins Creed"
  16. Neat, ASoIaF fan Anyhow, welcomings!
  17. ...occurs to me I ought to have asked if you'd mind linking to your comic. Sorry for rudeness! You do highlight the technical problem that might hold me back some, though. I struggle with technology, so...admit, getting proper screenshots might be hard. Still, thanks for the advice! is appreciated! (I have many projects that just petter out, so... )
  18. That's ridiculous. Slowly populating it. What beings of any dimension could resist his charming charisma? Place has to be having a population boom, if anything.
  19. ... I guess this is as good a place as any then, bit any advice on actually making it? I have gimp and paint as programs, just trying to figure out how to make them...well, work.
  20. I think Roshar has given me nightmares. So, last night, I had a dream that there was a...thing in my house. It kind of looked like a lobster, albeit it a little bigger; it wasn't giant sized or anything, but it was big enough. If was covered in the slime that you see on slugs and snails, and when it moved, you could see the muscles and ligaments between it's chitin. And, movement? It could scuttle, but it also ran - with enough force that it pinned someone against a wall when they tried to catch it in a box. And it sounded like a dog.
  21. Thanks, um... Wow. 2016 is almost over. In the spirit of that, um...apologies to everyone fir all the annoyances and whining I've done twister, and annoying people and...you know. Stuffs.
  22. ...okay, um. So... My new year resolution for 2017 is... I want to make something. Something I can look at and be proud of and say "Yes, I did that thing." Writing something would be the obvious thing, but I know I'm...not the greatest in that field, quality or productivity wise. What I'd thought was... This is silly. But a thing I've been batting around in my head for a little while now; a screencap comic in the style of Darths and Droids, DM of the Ring or Friendship is Dragons, using RWBY. So... Four friends roll up characters for an RPG set in a fairytale inspired setting. Shenanigans ensue. Just...not sure if that's a good idea or not...
