  1. Yeah, going back I think I misremembered something. The only things that stick out about you are that Danex (a villager) voted for you D1, and that you were right about Venture's alignment. Although, I'm not sure "I didn't really have a choice" is accurate. You were never in any real threat of dying last cycle. You also didn't push very hard for other people to join you on Steel, and haven't done so this cycle. Given the current activity levels, I think we need to do more than just vote to prompt some discussion. We need to be actively trying to convince other people to vote alongside us (something I'm guilty of failing at as well, despite the outcomes we've had so far). TUO has been at the back of my mind for a while, so I figure I'll see if it makes sense for him to be an elim. His main contribution has been the suggestion that 2-3 of the votes in C1 were placed by elims, and also that Devotary is suspicious. Now, I think the two statements are something of a contradiction, so in what world does it make sense for elim!TUO to make both of these claims. Well, for starters, I suggested that players with NKs go after low active players, and TUO's comment about the D1 voters was made in response. So, if TUO is elim, it would make sense that other elims have the activity profile I was suggesting we target. However, the comment could have been made in self-defense, since TUO himself fits that profile. The list of living players that didn't vote C1 is: TUO Sea Devotary Tani Steel Interestingly, all of these players voted last cycle. @Devotary of Spontaneity and @SeaDragonet were on Venture, @Tani and @The Unknown Order were on Devotary, and @Steeldancer voted TJ. Based on this, if TUO is elim, I'd expect a team like TUO, Steel, and either Devotary/Sea. And I'd like to note that contrary to what TUO said, I think it would pretty clearly be in the comfort zones for all of these players to not place a vote D1, even if they were elims. I think Tani has been sheeping TUO a bit much for them to be on a team together, and TUO kind explicitly defended Tani when I posted about the NK thing. I also don't think Tani/Devotary would be e/e based on last cycle. Now, what if TUO is village? His statement does mesh with the fact that GMs in the past have preferentially chosen more active players to be elims (or perhaps there is another reason I was evil 6 games in a row). His vote on Devotary could be based on a roleblock or something from a PM. In this instance, he could just honestly have been wrong, and Tani could be sheeping him as an elim. Since this outcome doesn't seem to give a lot of information, I'd like to hear more from TUO, in particular regarding the vote on Devotary. In all of this I've kind of ignored Mage and Orlok. One of those could be elim regardless of TUO's alignment, but I doubt both of them would be. Mage probably makes more sense if TUO is elim, given his vote on Venture shortly after pressure was put on TUO. So I'll switch my vote from TJ to TUO for now. I'd probably be willing to join TJ on Steel, depending on how things play out. Everyone I pinged here is someone I'd like to hear from. In particular, do you think TUO was right/honest about people's participation in the C1 vote, and if so, who among those people is most suspicious. If not, why should I not vote you out?
  2. Hmm, I suppose the recent tendency of elim teams to go for low-info kills gives a slightly more selfish reason for discussion/voting; you are more likely to not get NKed .
  3. I'm going to vote on TJ for now. It's currently a gut feeling but I think I can back it up with vote counts and stuff from the last two cycles.
  4. Really? Devotary didn’t vote C1, and you are assuming that all but 1 of the elims voted C1. How then is Devotary more suspicious than all the people that voted?
  5. Just vote Devotary then. Having multiple competing options is better than a single bandwagon. Or leave your vote. Part of the reason voting helps is because it is you making the decision for yourself (or with the help of your murderous teammates). Like I said before, your vote cannot mess anything up. Edit: ‘d by Venture . I guess I should add that villagers tend to bandwagon because they are confused. Elims, who can’t be confused, can hide their votes in a bandwagon to give the appearance of participating. Not all elim players will take advantage of that, but it is a potential risk to be aware of.
  6. So, basically, your vote cannot mess things up at this stage of the game. The way the village wins, generally, is by analyzing things players have said to try and figure out who is elim versus village. Well, what is the difference between those two? The elims have friends they want to not die. Villagers don't (in most cases). If you are village then you should be fine with almost anyone else getting killed off. But the only way we can suss out this difference is by putting real pressure of getting killed on folks. Elims can't win if they just sit by and let their teammates get killed. And our votes are the tool we use to create that pressure. Not voting can be fine if you have a strategic reason for it. But not voting consistently means the elims can say whatever they want, and none of it needs to be serious because they aren't worried about dying.
  7. So, like I said earlier, I don’t really have a reason, except that he already has a vote. If you watch my playstyle, I often follow single votes in order to create more pressure on someone. But also, at this point TUO has stated to believe he knows with decent precision where 2 of the elims are, and still hasn’t even stated which of those 6 players he finds most suspicious. I’m also going to mention that the Soul Forger doesn’t need to control the thread this game and thus can lie low and not vote. Which brings me back to the whole kill off people who aren’t voting thing. Um, this is only suspicious if the alternative, you, was/is an eliminator. Also, since the elims have a vote manipulation role, they didn’t need TJ’s vote to break the tie.
  8. Only because TJ is currently voting for you. Like I said earlier, I’d prefer to kill off the low actives with actions rather than votes. But there are literally 2 votes right now, so in the interests of avoiding potential vote manip, I’d kill you as an alternative to Venture.
  9. Some fun games to read would be AG1 and AG2 (AG stands for anniversary game). Those should give a decent idea of the meta, and have some solid RP as well. Other people probably have different suggestions.
  10. If you very strongly believe that most/all of the elims voted last cycle, then you should probably vote for one of said people. Pick me if you want .
  11. This generalization is not helpful. Any "elims almost always" statement that can be easily used to divide the player list muse be assumed to be false if we also assume the elims are trying to look village, since by the latter assumption they'd sticking to the former behavior. I mean, consider this game. If we accept 3 elims, all (or even 2) of whom voted, then we can easily knock out their faction by killing off the 6 players that voted. That would be a pretty poor move on the part of the elim team (and also would be kind of a bummer of a game). In my experience (which should be worth something), elim activity is generally representative of activity in the game overall, modulo GMs making sure their elim team isn't at risk of going entirely inactive. I could also go on a long rant about activity and so forth. I actually did, and then deleted it. Suffice it to say, I stand by my statement about NKs and will continue to do so until someone kills me off. The game is more fun when players are actively participating via the game's core mechanic, the vote and accompanying discussion. If it weren't, we'd be playing a different game. I'm going to keep pushing for a Venture exe this cycle. I think it's reasonable based on the roles in this game, and I'd also like to see what alternatives others propose. If cycle end was right now though, I'd probably join TJ on TUO, despite our disagreement about Venture. Gotta kill somebody, and we don't currently have any options besides those two.
  12. And yet, you didn’t actually place a vote. Or give any justification for why you or anyone would vote for Tani. I would propose that any village kill actions be directed towards players who aren’t voting. Elims can hide by lurking, and oftentimes villagers just don’t bother to put in the effort to vote. In either case, those folks aren’t worth wasting a vote over if we have village NK power. But clearing them out will force the elims to participate more or die themselves, so in the former case we can find them by analysis.
  13. Hmm, I'd think that the Heritage Arbiter would cancel a vote just to tie things up, if possible. Which makes me slightly more suspicious of Venture. Also something something grouchy old man complaining that we had under 50% vote participation.
  14. @Danex, is there a reason you have me as village? Likewise, is there a reason you aren't voting for Venture (especially since Venture has a vote and would be a candidate for this round)? Presumably "haha fun" isn't the only one?
  15. I think “poke vote” is a semi-official term used in online mafia. Around here at least, it means a vote that will go away once the target makes any sort of response. Several members of our community got frustrated with the fact that some players would just place poke votes and not really contribute to discussion, so I coined the term “stab vote” to refer to a vote with no backing that won’t necessarily go away once a response is given. The point being to create a serious threat of death. That happened maybe around a year ago. Danex, on the other hand, accidentally(? because he was elim) left his vote on TJ all of D1 in our last game. So now he’s trying to one-up my creation, which I think is justification for me to continue voting him for a bit longer .
  16. Are we playing the same game? Murder is the highest form of compliment in these parts. The more the better, I say. If anyone is feeling squeamish (which I sort of hope you aren't), feel free to hit me. I've died close to a hundred times in these games, so once more shouldn't upset me too much. I can enjoy my porch quite nicely from the afterlife.
  17. @Ed Venture, I'd like to point out that we D1 exed Mage in the last game, which was their first, so I would pretty strongly oppose doing that again on the grounds that our community is not completely hostile to newcomers .
  18. I'm thinking we should vote off Danex this round. Seeing as we failed to do so in the last game, of course . I'm also now wondering how an old grouch can possibly convince people that he's not a member of the Heritage Faction while simultaneously deriding all of the ostentation of the Glory Faction.
  19. Good game everyone! Thanks to @Illwei for GMing! This was definitely a different feel from what I’m used to in a game of SE, and rather refreshing for that. My only recommendation to change would be to force the elims to NK to avoid a stalemate like what we had for a brief while. @Danex has been elevated my my threat list for excellently hiding. You were my strongest village read at the end (maybe tied with Mat). @Archer turned into my strongest elim read too late, so well played as well. I’m also glad that elim!Mat wasn’t faking all of the things he did this game, because that would have been kinda annoying moving forward. @Mage, I hope you’ll stick around for a while! While we don’t get any less murderous, on average you will probably survive a fair bit longer than this game .
  20. I think it's too late in the game for a majority on anyone but me at this point. Lahilt and Az mostly likely aren't around to change their votes. Also, I think I retracted my vote on Az earlier, so if I did, I'm putting it back. Azmine I'm not sure that this is helpful given the going success rate of your tunnels in this game.
