It still serves as a nice visual and conceptual aid. And while I am not confident that I ever really had the impression that Highstorms are just high-powered versions of our Hurricanes, you've pretty much convinced me that that is not the case. Rereading the descriptions from the book, it does sound more like a detonation wave (or something similar).

Permit me to be the first to say three things: First of all: Woah! Good job! I do not want to be on the ocean during a Highstorm.

"Expanse of the Broken Sky" could easily refer to Taldain as well. I am not sure if I am allowed to give up this titbit, as innocent as it is, so I hereby ask the Admins to edit it out if not:

If it is true, then I think there is a way for even Sadeas to have been ignorant of it. Gavilar and Tearim was alone when Jasnah left them, and the latter was the one wearing the Shardplate. It is possible that Gavilar went somewhere else, and that Tearim returned to Gavilar's room claiming to be the king. Or maybe just he and Tearim went into the room, with Gavilar claiming that he would put on Tearim's armour. Point is, if we allow for the possibility of Gavilar's survival, then I think we can allow for the possibility that Sadeas was not in on it.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I see your point, but remember that Grayv was our first victim of general panic. We didn't really have anything to go on back then, so unless you are to assume that Mat was spiked for sure, I wouldn't put too much into the fact that the vote later swung in favour of Grayv. If the same thing were to happen again now, then too bad, but at least will have a better ground for determining who's spiked. According to my deal with Darnam and Clancy, both Edgar and Beetle will likely be the victims of our next few votes. If Beetle proves to have been spiked, then we have reason to look closer at his greatest defenders (and possibly the ones who originally tried to swing the vote in his favour). I myself think Edgar is the spiked one, though. Or maybe they both are, as per my previous reasoning. I'll vote for both today and tomorrow either way.- 462 replies

It would be cool, but incredibly impractical if she had to draw the spheres to get the Stormlight. Just imagine a full Lightweaving KR running around the battlefield in full Shardplate armour and using a pen and paper to draw while fighting giant Voidbringers.

Theory: Aluminum changes the Spiritual Aspects of metals
Aether replied to Elementalist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
How do you suppose that Aluminum converts other metals to Aluminum? How would that makes sense in the context of burning it? Wouldn't Vin have suffered from metal poisoning if that was the case?- 13 replies

Ok, I haven't gotten the faintest clue about what the Expanses of Densities, Vibrance and the Broken Sky could be, but I do not think any of you are properly considering the fact that there are a bunch of other planets in the Cosmere, many of which we have not even heard of. Permit me to be the first to make a list of the worlds I know of and their corresponding magic system: Greater Roshar system: Roshar - Surgebinding, Voidbinding, Sprenbinding etc. Ashyn - Feverweaving (my invented name - you get magic by getting sick) NB! Planet of the unpublished Silence Divine. Braise - Unknown Other planets belonging to unknown systems: Scardial - The Three Metallic Arts: Allomany, Feruchemy and Hemalurgy Nalthis - Awakening Sel - Regional magic systems: AonDor, Soulforging, Bloodsealing, ChayShan etc. Taldain - Sand Mastery, (Skycolours) NB! Planet of the unpublished White Sand. Yolen - Lightwieving, Aethers NB! Hoid's origin planet. Planet of the Liar of Partinel and Dragonsteel. Unknown - Magic from Parasites NB! Planet of Sixth of the Dusk. Unknown - Wraiths NB! Planet of Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell. Unknown - Aethers NB! Planet of Aether of the Night (not sure this will ever be published) There is probably several other planets around, but these are all I know of that have been mentioned, or even hinted at.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've updated my list according to the new votes: Beetle - (6) Darnam, Edgar, Mat, Quinn, Dyring, Clancy and Aether. Edgar - (6) Aether, Gambles, Maill, Clancy, Beetle, Kukri, Wilson and Mat. Darnam - (0) Beetle and Maill. . Currently not voting - (1) and Porridge. EDIT: List updated as per post 265. @everyone: Woah! This really took off since I went away. Fun though! . @Darnam: The vote is getting dangerously close. I know I've already argued for this, but if Edgar gets another vote, then it is possible for a Spiked Soother or Rioter to change the outcome or force a tie. I don't really care if the outcome is changed, but forcing a tie serves no one. We might have to change our votes in order to assure that someone dies today. Right now, it's a 7-5 vote in favour of (against?) Beetle. If we change our votes, it'll be a 8-4 in favour of (against?) Edgar, which is a considerably safer vote, even if Porridge ends up voting for Beetle (8-5). It might seem like I'm forcing the issue here, but I think we can both agree that risking a tie is by NO means an option. I ask you and Clancy to reconsider one last time before I'll let the issue be for today.- 462 replies

You should also add "Ookla the Mokovial", which was his user name for a while, and "Lord Peterus", which is a character in Alloy of Law that was named after him.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
He has directly stated that it's the first vote that counts, unless you change the colour of the original vote first. The "I am changing my vote" helps muddy the water, though. As I said, I'll let you decide, though just to reiterate, I'm not arguing changing what we vote for, just the order in which we vote for them. Whatever we vote today, I'll vote for the other tomorrow. EDIT: Also, lol:- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I am merely pointing our that he did come with useful information, while Edgar didn't. Now, the spiked MIGHT have a Mistborn who MIGHT have drawn bronze, though as my tone suggests, I find that rather unlikely. He might have just guessed, sure, but then we have to take another leap of faith (albeit admittedly a shorter one). I have committed myself, as has Clancy and Darnam, to vote for one of them today, and the other one tomorrow anyway. I am merely suggesting swapping the order according to who seems the most likely (at least to me) to be Spiked at this point, so that the enemy has a higher chance of having one less vote for tomorrow. . I do not really care either way, though. I've let it be up to Darnam to decide what we do anyway. EDIT: Would you be willing to change your vote too, if we do? We'd have a majority for Edgar, then.- 462 replies

Theory: Eyecolor and Radiants Who've Sworn the Ideals

I suppose it is possible, but I don't Endowment could be an "anti-Ruin". Endowment isn't inherently good, and I think that if the Shardholder was a real douche, then he'd be able to twist his Intent accordingly.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Kukri: Sorry, but I am find your argument a bit too confounded for me to grasp. It only really serves for me to start suspecting you too, since it seems to have successfully sowed quite a bit of confusion and dissent. I shan't accuse you of anything, though. At least not for a while, since I'm currently following a voting plan with Darnam. EDIT: And Clancy, it seems. At least if he remembers to change his vote xD. @Darnam There has been made some very good arguments for both Beetle and Edgar (and both) at this point, but I find myself wanting to change my vote to Edgar, since Gamma was able to verify Beetle's information, while Edgar has only given up information we already know. We should vote for both today and tomorrow, but I feel it would be better to vote for the one that looks the most likely to be spiked first, so that the Spiked villagers will be fewer in tomorrows vote. EDIT: since you control three of our votes right now, I think we should be able to swing the majority either way. As per our agreement, though, I'll let you decide whether we shall change our votes or not, though I suggest we follow the plan of voting for one first, and the next day the other, whatever they turn out to be. . EDIT 2: In the spirit of scholarship, I hereby present the current tally of votes: Beetle - (7) Darnam, Edgar, Mat, Quinn, Dyring, Clancy and Aether. Edgar - (5) Gambles, Maill, Beetle, Kukri and Wilson. Darnam - (0) Beetle and Maill. Currently not voting - (1) and Porridge. Clancy has agreed to vote for Beetle, but he hasn't changed the colour of his original vote, so is technically still voting for Edgar. @Darnam: As per my argument above, I feel like we should change our votes for Edgar at this point (though we should still vote for Beetle tomorrow). It will then be tied between Beetle and Edgar, but the five who has yet left to vote, assuming they'll vote for either of them, should be able to swing the vote either way. If they don't and we end up without a certain majority for Edgar, we can always just change it back to Beetle again.- 462 replies

Being profetic an' all, I wouldn't put it behind it to have a tricky definition of "he". Though less likely than "he" just being one "he".

Or maybe Tearim was Gavilar and Dalinar's unknown brother all along, and when asking Szeth to give the sphere to his brother, what he was really asking was for him to give it to Gavilar?

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, you make good points, so I do not see any reason that we shouldn't band together. Even when we are on each other's list of suspects, it is better to band together and have a systematic approach to the game rather than just letting conusion and rampant accusations run the game. That would only end up helping the enemy. Even assuming you're spiked, I have strong suspicions that Edgar is too (and slight suspicions that Beetle might be), so I see no great risk in allowing you to (potentially) sacrifice a comrade to avoid suspicion, and I assume you have made a similar calculation in my regard. And even if we were to conclude that we're just playing each other, we could always just turn on each other after having dealt with our common targets. This is my reasoning, at least.- 462 replies

Quick question: Where does the 10-minute time-table come from? Is it calculated from when the screams started, or from when Jasnah and Gavilar split up? I the latter is the case, then I doubt this theory's premise, as the meeting with both her Shadowspren and Liss could have taken up to and maybe even surpassing an hour. We already know that Gavilar had a bad feeling about that night ("Follow the codes tonight, brother"), so he might have gone and change directly into his Shardplate after he went away. And even if the former is the case, if he had started changing immediately, he could easily have had 15 to 20 minutes. Szeth was tasked to make a show, and even if he was rather quick about his killings, he spends what feels like at least a few minutes locked in that room where he prepared that huge rock to slam into the guards. Add everything up, and Gavilar could have had more than just 10 minutes to change.

Rosharans seem to firmly believe this, but several people on this forum suspect this not to be true. In-world, Kaladin also voices doubts about this commonly held belief.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, it isn't fair to call such an action stupid. As you yourself points out, presuming that they did vote en masse for Grayv, they could have done so for any number of reasons. I am not sure I can say that we are in complete agreement, however, as the overlapping isn't complete. But I get your point. We both pointed out a sub-group that in all likelihood contains one or two spiked villagers, which include some overlapping. Unfortunately, we are both in the suspected group of the other. The group (of Frenchmen, of all people) I've been playing with has apparently had a lot of back and forth with this, I've been told. Some games, the enemy would take a leading role in accusing others with long and well-reasoned arguments, and the next game, everyone would remember this and then target the most outspoken, but the Mafia would remember this and keep a low profile instead. After a while, you get a somewhat middle-ground were both the villagers and the Mafia are somewhat holding back, with members of the Mafia usually either completely taking the lead or taking a little step back subtly trying to influence the ones who take the lead. I've myself mostly played games belonging to the last category. My point is, there will be at least one very outspoken member of the Mafia. Usually. I hadn't really considered Beetle as a possible spiked villager before, but it stands to reason that either him or Edgar would be spiked. Or, if they are particularly devious, they both could be, hoping that we would stop suspecting Edgar if we find out that Beetle is spiked. Didn't Beetle already have the most votes for him when Edgar came forth as a Seeker? I didn't take you for a Survivorist, but I'll trust you and your judgement (for now, at least) and vote with you today for Beetle. Tomorrow, I'll vote with you for Edgar. Even if one of them turns out to have been telling the truth, I don't think we could have trusted the word of either one at this point anyway. EDIT: Added colour to my vote. EDIT 2: Minor tweeks.- 462 replies
