I believe I made the same point myself over in the Szeth has an Honourblade Thread. Great minds think alike, I suppose I think it is important to understand that we often have the tendency of exaggerating the actual evidence. In this case, we register that when a Herald is killed, his Honourblade (which is still technically a shardblade, btw, if not a Shardblade) disappears. First of all, the first premise, his death, is misleading, as they do not actually die. At the very least, this proverbial death is not permanent, and because of this, are we really correct to assume that the his shardblade does not follow the rule of spawning next to the corpse upon its owner's demise? And even if we are, can we expect it to follow this same rule if it is being carried by a non-Herald? I find myself doubting the commonly accepted notions on this subject.

Woah! This is actually a really good idea! There is still a major difference, though. Why would the Blades continue to be able to be summoned and dismissed, and the Plate not, while both stopped glowing?
-
I was just adressing the question of whether or not the Allmighty was male or female. I didn't notice that your "he/she" was referring to KevThinker.
-
Well, we have a WoB that the Vorin religion's beliefs about the Almighty is erroneous at best, completely wrong at worst. Mostly, they seem to have conflated the aspects of both Honour and Cultivation into one God. But yeah, maybe mostly aspects of Honour. And they believe him to be male themselves.

Yeah, I am not really sure why I brought it up in the first place. *knock on wood*

I personally make the distinction between honourspren and Honourspren (capital "H"). There is a WoB were Brandon states that Nahel are made up of different quantities and combinations of Honour and Cultivation's Investiture. Spren made mostly of Cultivation (above 50%) would in my opinion be "cultivationspren", and the opposite (above 50% of Honour) would be honourspren. Syl would be an Honourspren, presumably a full splinter of Honour only (or at least as close as it gets).

Is there anyone else than me who finds it frightening that there is no Brandon Sanderson to finish the Cosmere series if Brandon Sanderson dies prematurely?

The nature of Adonalsium (spoilers for Mistborn and Stormlight)
Aether replied to scottos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It is widely assumed that Hoid is referring to his bead of Lerasium. So "the element" is related to Adonalsium, though rather indirectly (assuming we are correct).- 52 replies

I think it is quite commonly believe that the lack of abundance of Spren in Dalinar's visions is either because their numbers increased after Honour's shattering, or that they are so common that most people do not really notice them of think much about them at all. I cannot remember Dalinar pointing out any lack of Spren, so I wouldn't read much into it before we get any more information. I do not think it is because of unbound Shardplates and -Blades, though. There weren't nearly enough of them, even during the time of the Radiants, to make any significant difference.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"You clearly have quite high thoughts of yourself, Quinn." Aether had never been too fond of the town crier. " But he is right, fellow citizens. We have not been as alert as we should." Reaching for the bottle he had forgotten he had given away, the scholar paused and looked thoughtful for a few seconds. "I do not think it is too late, though. But we need to come together to turn this around. Maill, try to find out who could have sabotaged your work. Edgar, find out if any of your equipment and stored weapons have been damaged. I shall go through my ledges to find out how long it's been since anyone has checked on our storages around the town. "Dyring, if it pleases you, try to organize an effort to gather our remaining food and put it in a safe and guarded place. I shall come back later and tell you all what I've been able to find out." And with that, Aether stood up and walked out of the inn.- 462 replies

Brandon has around 36 books planned for his Cosmere-saga (not counting randomly thought-up stories, such as the coming Sixth of Dusk). If I am not mistaken, Dragonsteel is the name of the series that will further explore and develop the meta-story from of of the other books.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Noticing Edgar sitting down next to him, and many of the townspeople entering and sitting down around him, Aether speaks up to let everybody hear. "Well, I came over hear as soon as I realised what had happened. I only just managed to poke my head in through one of the small armour sheds next to the outer wall on my way over hear. The leather straps on most of the breastplates have been tampered with, and some of our wooden shields were laid out in a pool of water in one of the corners. They were rotten all the way through." Aether leans back in his, and raises yet again the bottle to down another gulp. "The damages to our wall is only the most recent effort of sabotage, it seems. Wood doesn't rot overnight. I haven't checked yet, but we need to go through all of our weapon and armour stockades around the city and check for damages. And if the fire too proves to be deliberately started..." Aether looks again at the flask, but changes his mind and hands it over to the smith. "I have only now realised what has been going on, but this is extensive sabotage. We need to take major action!"- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
While the innkeeper is locking the door to the cellar, Aether skips over to the bar and snatches a half full bottle of scotch. He takes a few mouthfuls and sits down at the table in the middle of the inn. "I have checked and double-checked with our ledgers. The bricklayer have used the same batch of mortar all over town, and only at the wall did it fail. There was no water damage. Nothing to indicate any natural reason of why the wall fell. But there are marks in the mud around it, looking like heavy instruments have been set on the ground, and the wall itself look like it has been hammered at. "But no one has heard anything! And the few signs I found was hard to find, almost as if someone tried to hide it. No, I tell you, this was done deliberately, and made look like an accident! And with the approaching Koloss..." Aether shuddered and downed another mouthful. "It is starting to look like someone is trying to let them in!"- 462 replies

Well, we know there is a Universe, and we know that the power of Adonalsium is the power of creation. Presumably, it created the universe, but we have no solid confirmation of this either way. And as I mentioned earlier, we do not even know whether or not Adonalsium, had a holder or not, though most of us assume so. . What we do know, is that there is an opposing force to Adonalsium:
-
I made a longer post on the subject on this Thread. Other than that, here is a WoB confirming Szeth's Shardblade to be "modestly sized" for a Shardblade. There is another, more precise WoB on this, but I couldn't find it just now. Just note that his Blade is smaller than most Shardblades, but not necessarily small at all by other standards.

Well, you officially have one of the coolest profile pictures in this forum. (But honestly, I prefer the other motto )

The nature of Adonalsium (spoilers for Mistborn and Stormlight)
Aether replied to scottos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have, at this point, no idea, and not really enough information even to make much guess-work. We presume that Adonalsium had a holder, as the Shards have later on, but honestly, we do not even know that for certain.- 52 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Aether replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Aether, town scholar: Saboteurs, I tell you! The mortar used on the wall has been tampered with. The accident was not, uh, accidental! I believe there is reason to assume that last weeks fire was not random at all. People, we have an enemy amongst us! EDIT: I propose adding similar tags to mine ahead of all in-game posts, to make it easier to keep track of who's who.- 462 replies

Mine is the symbol for the Elsecallers, which I find to be the most interesting (and therefore favourite) Order. Also: Wait, what now?? Why do your family have coat of arms? Not that THIS IS NOT FREAKING AMAZING!

Theory: Thrillspren [spoilers?]
Aether replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
I more or less hold the same position. I didn't originally claim that he was feeling the Thrill, just that I didn't understand how most people seemed to so confidently claim that only the Alethi Lighteyes do. This might still be the case, but I do not think we have good enough evidence to make firm claims either way. . EDIT: When I think about it though, I find myself inclined to believe that Szeth is feeling the Thrill, but this has less to do with the literary evidence at hand and more to do with how Brandon's writing in general is known to work.- 34 replies

I did not even consider this. Good point!

Reviving a dead topic: Szeth's Shardblade is an Honourblade
Aether replied to Aether's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wasn't trying to convince you - or even hoping to - I am just having fun with your peculiar choice of words . I still maintain that "a massive Shardblade" doesn't necessarily mean "a Shardblade that is massive compared to other Blades", but I recognize that I might have exaggerated this nuance. Besides, it is rather irrelevant because of the ascribed uniqueness of the Honourblades, as you yourself point out. I do not believe anyone here is claiming to have proven that Szeth's Blade is an Honourblade, but that there are indications that suggest (strongly, in my opinion) that this might be the case. See the rest of the Thread for the individual arguments. EDIT: Minor tweaking.- 128 replies

57. We do not know, but presumably, the Recreance might have been partially responsible for Honour's (later) death, which is what caused the sense of despair.
