  1. Dog and Pony Show is one of my favourite episodes thus far, but then, I'm a huge Rarity fan so that makes sense. Woe to anyone who manages to capture Lucentia.

  5. Blackhoof spelled most of it out, but let me know if you have further questions. Reading the thread should be sufficient to catch you up, as I think I did a decent job of setting the scene. As for general tone, with Corvallis I'm hoping for some more intrigue and shenanigans, and (slightly) less of the all out flashy battle thing (that will come later). This is a free form RP, so anything is possible, but the original intent was to have Euphoria's disappearance cause a slow devolution into complete and utter chaos (this is where the big flashy battles will come in, with smaller flashy battles proceeding them). Right now, we have a Sanderson-inspired Vanilla rebellion in the works, several interlopers causing chaos (notably Phoenix, Converter, and Iconoclast), as well as the mystery of Euphoria's disappearance. Other citizens include ToneDeath, a sound manipulator who works for Rainmaker's government, Hypno, a selfish hypnotist who mostly just likes killing people, but sometimes helps Rainmaker out in exchange for more slaves, and Kenshin, a combat focused epic who is currently neutral and new to the city. You can find more information about Rainmaker and Euphoria (and their role in Corvallis) here. Let me know if you need any more info
  6. Backtrack 14 Deathwish 8 Mistwraith 11 Shiny Sparkle 8 Quicksilver 7 MV 10 Frequency 10 Reader 4 Taylor Swift 7 Edit: Even though she doesn't fit with the theme, I still wish Autumn "Not an Epic" Glass was in this so she could rule this competition. Edited to include the extra heal to Mistwraith that Winter missed.
  7. Would you like to join Corvallis as a neutral resident, supporter of the government, new immigrant, or 'invader'? Your status can switch as the RP goes on, but you should probably know where you stand to begin with. It might be to late to weigh in on the powers, but I like how defensive this character is, and would choose that either he cannot use the stored energy, or that the stored energy can only be used for healing or sustenance. Ultimately it's up to you though .

  12. I also love writing characters with dubious morality. The Rainmaker post is up. With Phoenix temporarily gone, and Converter on her way to being restrained, perhaps we can wrap up this scene soon. Then, I think the Queens can go about their business, and Rainmaker and Hypno can have their quick scene, before we end off day one in Corvallis . I'm also hoping to fit two or three Euphoria flashbacks in, so stay tuned.
  13. As par for the course compared to the rest of the day, everything seemed to happen at once. One minute Chase was talking in Rainmaker's ear about yet another heat epic, the next the energy epic was shrugging off Rainmaker's hailstone and throwing her generosity back in her face. Before Rainmaker could respond to the threat, another epic, seemingly the one Chase had just mentioned, arrived, assaulting her with some sort of fire attack. Rainmaker spun to face the new attacker, prepared to burst into cloud and reform once the fire attack connected, but the ball of flame missed her, dispersing as it connected with the wind field surrounding the energy epic. The fire epic fired another beam of energy at the energy epic, likely hoping to provide her with an energy source. Rainmaker lowered the temperature between the fire epic and the energy epic even more, while raising the humidity, hoping to snuff enough of the fire out before it reached its target. She prepared to ready a barrage of rain and ice on the fire epic, but found Cornucopia had already begun an assault. Thankful for the assistance, Rainmaker turned back to face her primary adversary just as Buttercup arrived with her restraints. Worried that the energy epic might find a way through her wind field, or use it to regenerate her energy, Rainmaker hurled several more large hail stones at her adversary, hoping to pin her down from all sides as well as above. The epic might be able to stop the momentum and weight of the stones from crushing her, but hopefully they would serve to keep her pinned in one place until the other epics arrived to help restrain her. Rainmaker rose higher into the air, getting out of earshot of the energy epic before speaking into her mobile. "Keep your distance Buttercup, we still don't know everything she can do." The fire epic disappeared in a flash of fire after being shot by one of Cornucopia's plants. "Cornucopia, do you think one of your plants could clamp on the restraints? I'll try my best to work the temperature and humidity to keep her from burning them. If you touch her as little as possible, maybe we can ensnare her. Buttercup, keep an eye out for that fire epic. He might be a teleporter or be able to reincarnate, and I do not want to be surprised by him again."
  14. Taylor and Brandon post up! Now on to Rainmaker! Yeah, my epics are all pretty far gone. I would love for Euphoria to be redeemed, but somehow I doubt that's going to happen.
  15. "Taylor... Swift," he stammered, staring in blank shock. "You... how..." Taylor smiled warmly at her newest fan, basking in his awe and admiration. This was how she really deserved to be treated, not some feigned love from a closet case like Brandon. Who needed romantic relationships when one had true fans to be worshiped by? Brandon might know all of her lyrics by heart, but he had overcome his awe of her some time ago, no matter how much he tried to pretend he hadn't. How long had it been since she had been recognized by a stranger? It felt magnificent, like she was finally coming home to what she was entitled to. If only Olivia Benson and Meredith could be there to see it. Then, he started laughing. "O-Ok," he chortled nervously. "I get it. I've actually gone insane, right? I've just been hallucinating all day. That... that would actually explain a lot. So are you my repressed anxiety or something? My conscience, maybe?" The admission was startling, but not all together unexpected. After all, before Calamity meeting Taylor Swift had been the wildest dream of millions of fans. She could hardly blame this one for thinking she must be a figment of his evidently active imagination. "No, it's not your conscience," she said, with an awkward chortle that managed to be the cutest thing since Olivia Benson. "But don't worry, I get that a lot. Well, not like, a lot any more, you know, with the whole, world devolving into chaos thing. But some people still remember, like you, so that's cool. But yeah, anyways, it really is me, Taylor Swift." Taylor gave the fortunate man a flash of her pearly whites. "I hope I didn't startle you too badly, I just heard you singing my music, and couldn't resist coming over to check it out. It's been a while since I've been able to stalk one of my own fans, and its been a lot harder since the internet went down, so I couldn't resist. I'd be happy to sign something if you wanted. What's your name?" Brandon sighed as Reader left before he got a chance to reply. It was a shame he wouldn't be leaving any time soon, but Reader's threat of instant death left him with little choice. Probably best to use the washroom as planned (he really did have to go), and then wait till Reader was done bothering the others before telling him again that he had no idea where Taylor was, or how he was supposed to lead anyone to her. Maybe he'll leave me with a guard instead. Reader was an epic after all, even if he acted more like a slontze. Baby-sitting newcomers would be a waste of time for someone with an ability as valuable as his was. Surely a human guard would be much more reasonable when Brandon explained. The lack of an ability to tell when he was lying would certainly help anyways. Perhaps he really would get out of all this in one piece.
  16. To be fair, he will be resurrected soon, but it was a good post regardless. I think that means i'm up next with Rainmaker. I'll see if I have time to put something together today.

  22. I think I might be waiting on a Reader post in the Dalles, but that's it.
  23. I'm not certain on the nuances of absorbing kinetic energy from the air, but my understanding was that Converter would be unable to move while doing that. You bring up a good point though, if she was absorbing the energy from the wind as it hit her, I'm not sure if it would bring her to a standstill, or if she would be able to move through it. The wind would continually be pressing against her, so while moving into range of the wind would help energize her, I think she'd just keep absorbing the kinetic energy, but I'm not sure if she could then move forward. In my wind, the wind is pushing forward, very hard. Converter is trying to walk against it. She absorbs the energy so she is no longer being pushed back by the wind, but it seems like she should not be able to move forward. On the other hand, maybe she can. Again, I'm not a science guy, so I'm not exactly sure how these powers would all apply, so I could definitely be wrong, and maybe Converter could move through the wind. Rainmaker doesn't know, so her actions still make sense. What it matters for is what we do next. The thing is, she's sucking all of the energy out of the air around her, so at best, she could breath in some of the warmth created by the fire, but otherwise no heat would be able to move through the shield. I like the idea to give us all some breathing room. I looked up Phoenix's profile, and he defintely has some vulnerabilities the Queen's could exploit to trigger his reincarnation and give us all some time. Blaze and Voidus would Cornucopia or Buttercup take initiative to deal with Phoenix as he arrives, or would they wait to see what Rainmaker does next?
  24. 18th Shard, your Phoenix post has some issues with continuity. I can't really respond until they are edited out, since I don't know what you will actually be doing. Here's the section I'm referring to: (1) This is a smaller one, but they aren't really at the center of the city, they are in the Crystal Lake Sports Field. Check out a map of Corvallis to better orient yourself perhaps? (2) Rainmaker doesn't have a wind field around herself. It's fine you throw a fireball at her, I can respond with how Rainmaker deals with that in my next post, but there is no existing wind-field. (3) There shouldn't be 'ice everywhere'. Rainmaker has thrown one giant hailstone, which is one hunk of ice, and is lowering the temperature directly around Converter, but otherwise there isn't really ice for Phoenix to melt. Lastly, this isn't a continuity issue, but it is kind of going against what Converter and I had been planning for this part. That's fine of course, since this is a free-form RP, and it's always nice to take things in new and interesting directions, but since we've just done a lot of fighting, and we were about to restrain Converter (which she will soon escape), it might be nice to wind things down so the plot can progress in other directions. As things stand we've just had a riot, an attack from Iconoclast, Converter's arrival, and now a sudden attack from Phoenix. With this thread, my original hope was to have a devolution into chaos, since it's not really fun if a couple of high powered epics pop in and blow up the city before we've had much chance to RP in it. I have a couple of other plots to get to, and some characters (such as Hypno and the rebellion characters) haven't had much of a chance to RP in all of these battles. On the other hand, this is free form, so of course, if it makes sense in character for Phoenix to attack right at this moment, I won't stop you. It would just be nice to move forward with the plot. With this in mind, I'd like to know your intentions for this intervention. Is it a hit & run where Phoenix grabs Converter and they run away to plot a more organized attack on the city, or is it just going to be more shooting stuff at Rainmaker and the Queens, because we've had a decent amount of that and it might be nice to try something else? If you are intending to fight here, we should probably all get a discussion going with the players of all the characters involved about how we want this current fight to go. Also Silver, I'm still waiting for that small edit in Converter's post, and some further explanation of the effect lower temperatures of non-moving air have on Converter? I get that normally stopping the movement of air stops any heat from escaping, but with Rainmaker's ability to distort air temperature, she doesn't move any heat, she changes the amount of heat itself, shifting the air temperature from one thing to another pretty much instantly. Would Converter be absorbing her own body heat as it escapes? That seems like it might work, but I'm not sure what effect it would have on her body, and with that, combined with the air shield around her, it seems like she's doing a lot of things at once. Also, I assume the heat from the flames would not get through Converter's air shield, since you said no heat can get through, so she'll have to drop it if she wants to use Phoenix's heat? This is all contingent on Phoenix's actions staying the same post edits of course, so maybe it's not a big deal. Anyone else want to weigh in on Converter's powers, or some ways we can wind up the current scene and move on to the next?
