  1. I'm more on the train of thought that his child was killed (perhaps by his hand). Having ANY living descendants would be pretty world breaking in the final empire (where allomancy and feruchemy are kept separate). My guess is that if he had a kid before ascension, he had them turned into a Mistwraith. If after (which would be more interesting) he perhaps had to kill the child himself to prevent a threat to his throne OR (on the other hand) perhaps the child was a part of his plan to give up the Final Empire (which Brandon wrote into my copy of Alloy of Law). Maybe things went wrong in his attempt to create an heir, leading to his resignation to eternal dominance. I also love that 'Lutha' could be a daughter rather than a romantic partner.
  2. Thanks! I was looking in the Mistborn boards. Should have checked the Cosmere Theories.
  3. A commenter below mentioned that perhaps the mysterious "Lutha" might be a child, rather than a love interest (which is what many people assumed, especially after reading samples from Final Empire Prime). The question is did he have a child before who he turned into a mistwraith? Or, did he have a relationship after becoming the Lord Ruler (perhaps with this "Lutha" person if that was not the name of his child), and have a child whose life he had to end to preserve his eternal rule. OR, third option: in my copy of Alloy of Law, Brandon wrote that the Lord Ruler once tried to give up the final empire. What if this child was part of his attempt? My brain is buzzing like crazy over this. I might need to start a topic, haha.
  4. Yup! And with our current pace in Corvallis, the Hypno scene can probably wait until you are back. Have a good three weeks! As a side not, my husband is currently reading Steelheart for the first time, and as I was reading over his shoulder, I saw that when describing Nightwielder, he says "and like all incorporeals, he could fly at a steady speed." I think this means I need to rethink how Insight's power works a bit, but it shouldn't be too hard. Regardless, I figured it was an interesting tidbit to keep in mind for any other incorporeals we write.
  5. Three interview down, two to go! The two yesterday were pretty bad, but my one today went really well! Wish my luck on the other two. If I can get a job for next year now, I'll have more time during school to write Euphoria flashbacks, haha. Have a good trip Edge!!

  8. I was thinking Lutha could be a servant brought along by one of the lord to the bunker to serve. After all, the nobility must wait out the apocalypse in comfort, don't they? I was thinking her employer might have died prior to the RP, or perhaps was the one who Rashek killed at the beginning (though Lutha probably should have reacted to that, if that were the case). I kind of imagined her hanging out in the cave with the others, taking out chamber pots and serving carefully rationed food and such. As for that Lutha, I was not intending them to be the same person, haha. I just leapt at the opportunity to use the name, since it's pretty much only possible in the period before the founding of the Empire.
  9. Will we be finding out who gets allomancy when the game begins, before we take our first turn? Or should we be planning actions not knowing who is going to get allomancy?
  10. Hey guys, I would thought I would step in before this thread gets too out of control. I know this is all in fun, and that the intent behind these comments is ridiculousity, but remember that even comments not intended to harm or offend others can do so. I'm not saying anyone has to stop, but I would recommend amp-ing up the silliness a bit, and staying away from things that are actually offensive in our world. In particular, try to be sensitive when dealing with body size and implied sexual content. Remember, most people struggle with body image, and people come in all shapes and sizes, so implying one shape is lesser or comical, even in jest, can be hurtful. As for sexual content, jsut remember to keep our site rules in mind: Basically this comes down to being aware of who might be reading your words. I haven't seen anything explicit in my quick perusal of the thread, but some stuff has been on the edge. In threads like this, its easy to cross the line, so instead of testing how close you can get to it, I'd recommend leaping as far as you can in the other direction. At the moment, I'm not swooping in here to shut anything down, but I am telling you guys to be careful, and conscious of who might be reading this. Remember, Mom's are 17th Sharders too, and no matter someone's age, size, or parental status, we all deserve respect. Basically, let the silliness continue, but keep it classy .
  11. Like this? Though in this case, it would seem like Shiny Sparkle (representing SparkleGlass I assume) might be winning...

  14. I thought it was some combination of friends and rulers from outside of Terris, and had forgotten the specifics of that annotation. That being said, I think its important to note that these people in the cavern are not the companions who went with Rashek and became the first generation. I was under the impression that these people were not Terris, and were just people who got stuck in a shelter who Rashek happened upon and asked to follow him. Some he knew as friends, others not. I wrote Lutha assuming that she was not Terris, anyways. Since it seems like the goal is to have all nine allomancers among our characters, its probably safe to decide that we will bend canon a bit, instead of having Rashek slowly give out the beads over time to bribe different rulers to his side. I think that starting with these characters all in one place, and then spreading out across the empire, will be more interesting for us anyways, and choosing allomancers at the beginning is a good way to start the game. EDIT: Also, Mistborn: The Inquisition is also a Cosmere game. Reckoners is just one of the more active ones on the main site. I think we can still stick to this, since many of the people in the cavern are nobles already. Perhaps we could say this was a bunker for some of the most important people in the world, who were trying to work out a response to the deepness. We know Alendi managed to unite much of the world to stop it, so maybe he left some rulers here, hidden away, to figure out what to do if he should fail. That would also make sense of why a priest and a service person like Lutha would be there, they would want the perspective of the faith likely, and need servants to wait on them. We would still be bending the narrative by having allomancy given out all at once, but that's part of the fun, so we can probably get away with it .
  15. Well Euphoria already has one power she can gift and one she can't, so I think we've already crossed that bridge, haha. For the rest, I'll piggy-back off of Edge's point and just say I agree. While the bubble includes sections of those towns, I'd say they are abandoned, and the population is focused in Corvallis itself. I think Rainmaker would prefer to keep her population centralized, and use the rest for fields. If Insight rescues Converter, then the guards would not have to die, since he could get in and out without being seen. The whole Campus does not have to be in use. It's a fairly big campus. While most of it would likely be used, I'm sure there are sections that are not anymore. I'm prepping for interviews so I don't have time for specifics, but I could take a closer look later.

  17. I know multiple abilities can be gifted selectively. What I was trying to say is that gifting only one and using the others doesn't do as much to decrease corruption. Slowly falling apart (or quickly is some cases) is a lot what Oregon is about, so he should fit right in .
  18. I like the character over all, but you should probably think carefully about how his fiance survived his rending (unless they did not get engaged until after?) Also (someone please correct me if I am wrong about this), don't you have to gift all of your power and not use it to avoid corruption? I'm pretty sure using two powers, even while gifting one, would still start to corrupt you. Firefight Spoiler: ... we know that large expenditures of power corrupt a person more quickly, meaning its likely that lesser uses of power corrupt less. Based on this, I'd say that gifting a small amount of power to another, while still using two much more powerful abilities, would not do much to prevent corruption, and he'd likely still need to avoid using his powers too often to avoid corruption. I think he'd fit in well with the Dalles, since the majority of epics there are trying (and failing) to avoid corruption.

  20. I can also merge your post into the Dalles, once you feel you are ready. Parts of it could still be abandoned, if Chase wants a hide-out.
  21. I think I'd like to give this a try. Might I suggest a separate story thread though? It might get confusing if we are doing administrative stuff in text, and then doing story stuff as well. I know I'm already a little confused. Anyways, I'm not sure how well I'm going to keep up with this, but I'll try my best . The first action isn't due until next Sunday, correct? Is it possible to start with our character unmarried if we choose? Or must we start married? I was thinking of using one of my earlier actions to secure a marriage, but its fine if you'd rather we all start married. As a side note, since this is a generation game, I'm not sure how close we are sticking to canon, but Brandon wrote in my copy of Alloy of Law that the Lord Ruler once tried to give up the final empire, which could be a fun global event some where down the line. Also important to keep in mind is that the plantation system did not begin until about 500 years before the events of Final Empire, so we have an opportunity to play around a lot. If we are sticking to canon, of course. We could also just stick with the plantation system for simplicity, if people would prefer. Anyways, here we go (let me know if there are any problems): Character Name: Lutha (Elariel) Introduction:

  23. I haven't really commented on the Vapour Snake Plotline yet, because I've been so focused on Corvallis stuff, but let me just say I am really looking forward to this .
  24. Insight would not have minions per-se. But he does want Corvallis brought down. My thought is that he would notice Phoenix's attempt to help Converter, and then free Converter tomorrow, and bring them together. Then, he'd let them do their own thing, trusting they would wreak the havoc he wants. I like the team idea two, or even with Coverter and Phoenix working separately. At the very least it will give those characters more people to RP with. People have already commented on length about this, but Corvallis does have power, with no shortages. Right now (according to Wikipedia) 21% of Corvallis's power is green. With Cornucopia and Rainmaker's abilities, I see no reason why they couldn't bump that up to 100%, with a combination of wind and sun manipulation, and planting full power cells to create more and power generators if the power fails for any reason. There's an existing powerplant here, right near the river. Rainmaker would have other smaller power generating areas (Specifically for wind) elsewhere in the fields around the city, but for convenience let's say this is the main hub for conventional (no reason Cornucopia can't plant fossil fuels, unless she has a moral objection) and solar power. As for Converter, my intention was not to move her, and to leave her out in the field. With her ability to redirect momentum and pretty much fry or freeze anyone who gets close to her, Rainmaker would be very worried about moving her until they can find a way to subdue or overcome her powers. My thought was that the chains they are using could be anchored to the ground, and Rainmaker's people could construct a shade shelter to keep the sun out. Once that's done, Rainmaker would shroud Converter's area in clouds to block even more sunlight out, lower the temperature as low as possible (as she is already doing), and then would place winds blowing outward in a perimeter all around the prison, preventing anyone from getting close. She'd also place guards to watch that perimeter of course. IcyHot and Resistor would be natural choices, but I'm sure she'd trust Buttercup to make that staffing decision. As for the rescue, I'm thinking Insight tracks down Phoenix, leads him back to the field, and then phases Converter out of her chains, setting them free, and then watches what they do from there. My hope is that Phoenix and Converter can keep a low profile for a bit, and avoid attacking Rainmaker directly for a while, choosing instead to make attacks and destroy bits and pieces of the city and then vanish. Perhaps, once Converter is freed, and if she links up with both Phoenix and Iconoclast, they could stock up on supplies and ghouls and then eventually attack the power plant, where Converter could maximize her power. Then, they could hole up there in a base, forcing Rainmaker to lay siege. Just some ideas. I think I got to all the questions. I haven't read the Dalles thread yet, but I'm assuming Brandon is just hanging out trying not to be noticed as per usual.
