  1. I was so disappointed in Rowling's interpretation of American wizarding history and stuff that I came up with my own. It's certainly not super quality, but I kinda like it. One of my biggest problems with it all is no-maj. No one would say that. It's an absolute abomination to pronounce, especially in plural. It would blur into 'nome' or something. Besides, the US is such a large country that I doubt there'd be one term, and because the nation is such a melting pot, I think the American wizards would mostly use words from various other places and languages. Near Mexico they'd probably use the Spanish term, on the East Coast they might use the British term- they'd probably use the German word in most places, seeing as a very large number of Americans have German ancestry.
  2. I just saw it and was again reminded of what a storming awesome job Marvel has been doing with their movies. Please note that this was written at well past 11:00 p.m. and probably shouldn't be taken very seriously. I don't quite get people complaining about the uselessness of all the fighting in the movie, though- wasn't that the point? If they'd kept their heads and not ripped into each other things might've worked out, and a lot of people would be a lot happier. But they didn't, and people got hurt. I loved the parallel to the first Captain America movie in the Stark/Cap fight scene. That whole scene blew me away. It was just so... brutal. Usually we see heroes fighting villains and we know what side we're on. Well, in that scene I was solidly on Cap's side- Stark lost it, and yes, his parents died, but no, it was not Bucky's fault- but I could sympathize with Stark and his point of view. I could see it from both sides. They both went overboard and both made mistakes. And gosh darn it, both were bleeding feels. My biggest complaint is that I want more Black Widow and Hawkeye. Those two need a movie or seven. And, of course: "Can you move your seat up?" "No." Conclusion: A+ moral ambiguity, would ponder again.
  3. "The Riddle" from Scarlet Pimpernel for Shallan, especially WoR era. I mean, just look at some of these lyrics:
  4. Mistrunner mishears 'Valinean' as 'Valjean' and begins dramatically reenacting Les Mis. "Who am I? Can I condemn this man to slavery?"
  5. There's an amazing amount of sheer emotion in the Hamilton cast recording. It's impossible to casually listen.I just noticed that the veins in my wrist spell out "HI." You don't know how happy this makes me. In honor of Mothers' Day, I present: A Biologist's Mothers' Day Song!
  6. Tomorrow I'm going to state for an academic competition in physical science. My science neediness has finally paid off!
  7. Strong winds? Storms? Looks like the perfect place for you is Moore, Oklahoma! It's famous for being destroyed every year or two by tornadoes!(Don't live in Moore)
  8. Aggressively lip-synching Hamilton doesn't quite cut it. I need to get my room soundproofed.
  9. The musical The Book of Mormon. I try not to have a sense of humor about it, but the fact of the matter is that it's horribly offensive and I wish it did not exist. So. I don't want to be that person who can't take a joke, but it really crosses the line for me. I mostly stay away from conversations about it. But it really, really bothers me, and it makes me nervous that that's where people are getting information about my church. (Don't go see it. Please.)
  10. Did you write these? If so, add this to "ways I find Morz creepily similar to my brother who also composes music for guitar." At least you sound different singing...
  11. Can someone link me back to it or remind me what it's about? I want to try it.
  12. I was going to write down the lyrics to the rest of the song, but it's literally just all the states in alphabetical order, and though I'm sure it would be educational to the non-American Sharders I don't think it would have quite the effect I was looking for....carry on.
  13. The reason I had to get glasses was most likely all that reading under the covers with a flashlight. So worth it. I hereby christen you "Sun-Burr."
  14. I... I have a splinter of Odium on a shirt...
  15. Mistrunner cautiously makes her way back into the room, holding a broom and dustpan. "Your oaths, Knight Jeffywan, are accepted. Welcome to the Stronghold of the Knights Awkward. Keep an eye out for Sodium bookie crumbs." She notices a tiny crumb (or possibly lint) and immediately sweeps it up and throws it into the dungeons."BEGONE, YE FOUL BAKED GOOD OF THE NETHER REALMS," she yells, then remembers Jeffywan's presence. "I- I'm- I swear it's usually more... ah... less... weird," she says. "Never mind, this sort of thing happens all the time. I hope you realize what you've gotten yourself into."
  16. Well, I suppose we have been...NON-STOP! :D
  17. When you were going to get a haircut but can't because of a tornado and golf ball-sized hail. Hate it when that happens.
  18. ...all I can think about now is how the opening number is so Kaladin it's not even funny.
  19. Snow cone, any one?
  20. Just for fun. It was very interesting.I should be studying for finals and stuff, but no, I read correspondences by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Scratch that. I regret nothing.
  21. It's 2 AM. And I've just realized I stayed up until 2 AM reading historical documents. Because why not. This is new even for me.
