*sigh*..... It can be. Very easily. You've convinced yourself that you prefer a different outline, but it is very possible that Eshonai becomes a KR. In fact, Brandon is deliberately including phrases that indicate no Parshendii has been a KR before, but it is possible. He mentions that every time someone asks on this subject. If anything it indicates that she most likely will be a Radiant. And I don't have the quote that explains what each book will focus on, but if Eshonai has a book and each book's main character is from an Order of KR, then we are fooling ourselves if we think she won't be a Radiant. It's very possible, it's just not what you would prefer. Wheel of Time is an excellent example. Brandon draws a lot of inspiration from it, and more than that, each story expressly stated that in the times leading up to the [big event], a massive influx of [magic users] would occur. There weren't too many Aes Sedai, there were just too many named Aes Sedai that we wanted to keep track of but just couldn't. If there were 2000 Knights Radiant and we were only ever meant to keep track of 20 of them, that would be fine.

Only because he is coming to the realizations that you claim he is too busy to think about.

Adolin already enjoys talking to his sword, and if he doesn't become a Radiant, he'll have massive amounts of power on top of his skill with a normal blade. It'll be especially interesting if he goes evil at some point, which is possible based on some of his recent actions.

There is some pretty flawed reasoning here. You can't ignore the decisions and actions of the Parshendii because they were on Roshar or the Shattered Plains first. Every decision should be evaluated in context and take prior decisions into account. The humans were willing to talk and negotiate - the Parshendii assassinated their leader. Toward the end of the conflict, the humans were willing to talk and negotiate, the Parshendii say there will not be any negotiation and proceed to wipe out the entire Shattered Plains. Both are opportunities for the Parshendii to make decisions that avoid conflict. You can't just skip over them because the Parshendii were around. Whether or not the humans responded the right way when there king was assassinated, that was the event that caused the hostilities. If there was one before, we are not aware of it. I think this story is supposed to remind you of the Native Americans, but the Native Americans never assassinated any European king, and they never (effectively) nuked the opposing force instead of negotiating. It is a similar story with huge differences at critical points.

Agreed. I wish they would do more with that. Countless past lives to interact with and we only really see 2 or 3 of those. It makes a little sense that the most recent would train you, but I would think the best advice would come from someone who started with the same sort of bending as you. Korra is as frustrating a character as I think they could have made, but she's getting better over time.

I think I watched through the second season of it. I kind of like to let it get ahead a bit so I can watch it in chunks. Too hard to wait.

Yeah, I mentioned this in my reaction post as well. How did we go through all of Shallan's backstory and not find out how she attracted a spren before any other Surgebinder we have seen? As a child too! I thought maybe her "lies" were drawings. Creative drawings. When Pattern uses the word "lies" he doesn't use it the same way we do. Just like he doesn't understand the concept of food. I'm sure that very soon in the next book we will see Pattern's intelligence grow and he'll be able to better explain himself. Shallan is actually embracing him now, so it should happen fast.

My fiancee is so excited for the Fault in Our Stars movie that she is literally reading the book to me out loud while I do things around the apartment. So I might be a fan soon! Hahaha Avatar is amazing. Big fan. I have a sister who is 13 years younger than me, so I showed her a few episodes in December and she and I have been watching it together since. Slowly, but that's what happens when you try to line up time with a 9 year old. She gets a little stressed whenever she thinks the show might be on it's last couple of episodes. I haven't even told her about Legend of Korra yet You know I'm not a fan of this "Arsenal" team or this "football" game, but I'm a huge huge gamer. Xbox Live, Battle.net, Steam, etc. I play quite a few different things.

Theory: Laral will be a Knight Radiant
Bloodfalcon replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wow, that actually sounds pretty interesting. But Kaladin didn't dump her the first time, did he? It seemed like neither made a real move until she went off with Roshone. -
And so we arrive at our conclusion again!!! Hahahaha! Yes, I think his actions would be very different if his afterlife situation was different. I don't think he would have found himself in that position to begin with. To be frank, the nature of many religious "afterlife" scenarios is that the best possible outcome is held over your head unless you do ________. Stone mysticism is a fundamental part of what makes his culture/religion so important to him, and the afterlife is a part of it, not something separate. It's precisely the same reason that Szeth obsesses over walking on stone and all of that throughout both books. The mysticism behind the stone is fundamental, and the afterlife scenario is tied into it directly. I don't think Szeth has a single other motivation other than a general dedication to his people. So if you are looking for frequency, consider every time he mentions stone throughout both books. He's making the same point from a different angle.

Theory: Laral will be a Knight Radiant
Bloodfalcon replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not to dismiss the theory or put down your preferences, but..... BARF. This would be one of those moments in the story that I would regret seeing on the paper. Partly because you know there will end up being an additional love triangle/ conflict of the heart caused over it, but mostly because that would almost be pushing the Radiants ratio into the "most of the characters we meet are Radiants" territory. We practically have the entirety of the Kholin family on the list, and I would just hate for a group that is supposed to be so based on character to be so limited to a small network of people. In reality I know how possible it is. Spren are supposed to start choosing many many many more Radiants right before a Desolation, so it would make sense that more and more people would be. And her character is definitely going to be significant in some way soon. After she went with Roshone, I fully expected her to cause loads of problems in the extended story (assuming everyone didn't get what they had coming to them by the end of WoK). ... You're right though. Totally possible. What Order do you think she would represent though, based on what we've seen of her? -
P4thf1nd3r, I intentionally strayed from this conversation for a while, but only because I've had it plenty of times before, with several of the same people. You weren't misrepresenting me though. That leads me to Moogle: It is clearly very significant to him. His thoughts are at least partially on whether or not he will "return to the stone" or whatever after he is dead. He is trying to avoid an end to his existence. I'd say you have one or two too many modifiers in that sentence to the point that you are underestimating how much it means to him. He does clearly have a lot more than just that going on in his head though... ...his cowardly head.

Good thing those aren't mutually exclusive!

Wow, there's one I haven't heard.

Would they have been discarded to the other side of the continent? Maybe via Highstorm, I guess....

Agreed. I didn't mean any of this as a jab - not at all. I just don't think we should limit the universe to what we think we know because Brandon himself seems to want certain outcomes more than he wants to avoid time travel or resurrection or whatever. It's not a bad thing, I am just trying to allow myself appropriate open-mindedness. There's only so much you can hold the guy to when his current plan spans multiple decades.

And on that point, we've seen - what, cognitive time travel? - go both forward and backward. You can see shadows of someone's future movement as well as shadows of their past, right? Past/Alternate? Anyway, whether there is evidence or not, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah but come on, there are like 10 sports called football by one crowd or another. We're not the first to use the name, but not the first to copy it either. I wish we would change it too. Something like "Smashbrawl" or something really cheesy I think would fit it better. Would certainly help clear things up.

After reading Words of Radiance, I've given up on this thought. At one point Brandon sounded as though he had several rules he'd enforce on himself when writing, but I've kind of seen those fall apart. For example, he said he was against characters being brought back to life when they are killed, even off screen, because it makes it feel like death isn't a big deal when it happens. Then, in WoR, Szeth dies and gets revived, Jasnah "dies" and comes back, and to a lesser extent Gaz even comes back when we assume he is gone. I personally don't find these things distasteful, especially in a world that is organized so systematically and explained in detail, but it does get me thinking that there is really nothing stopping him from writing the story so it fits his needs and is properly exciting. He is managing a huge universe over decades of writing. If he decides that time travel is somewhat tacky but he needs to utilize it for the benefit of readers, fine by me. I expect it now.

Next 17th Shard Q&A?
Bloodfalcon replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Hahaha, I think we know who we are talking about. There are members and then there are The Dedicated Few™ who record at signings or have personal WoB spreadsheets and the like. I think you've proven yourself, Aether.- 31 replies

And one would think that the Nexus of Transition might be closer to Lightweavers and Elsecallers. Who knows what we'll find out about the others though. Could turn out to be very significant eventually. Maybe it more closely relates to where spren live in Shadesmar or something like that.

Next 17th Shard Q&A?
Bloodfalcon replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in General Brandon Discussion
That was my point as well. Really just to make sure we are getting our most productive questions out there. A couple members of the community have a better feel for what will get auto-RAFO'd, or what has been answered already. It would just save us time and save Brandon time. It's not a way to dismiss questions, just to give advice and catch people up before what would be a rare event.- 31 replies

We don't have information. That doesn't mean it's impossible.

You may need to go into a bit of detail if you are proposing something... Are you just showing the similarity in shape between the maps and the Surgebinding chart?
