  1. Did not know that. Well understood then. Kind of being taken advantage of but you are right - worth having for the good times at least once the crumby stuff settles.
  2. I'd like to point out nearly the opposite conclusion! This past week has been really refreshing after a month of obnoxious, half-witted role play banter! Looks great! Informative, and with a helpful message the community can see at the front of the forums! Go work on the Coppermind wiki; not go stop the waffle king or whatever. Much better message that legitimizes both this site and the Coppermind where the other conversation..... If I was just being introduced to the community and I came to the site and saw that.... I would probably pass. The problem was that things weren't correcting themselves fast enough, I guess. Glad they did though. I'll just have to re-close the chat box now and then I suppose - it's your site. I still don't see a reason not to have people logged in in order to post on the chat box. For the same reason you have to log in to post on the forums. It keeps things decent and prevents stuff like what we saw recently. There is also really no gain to letting people choose who they chat as other than mindless chat roleplay like that. I'm not trying to be a fun-sucker, I'm just saying there are plenty of ways to role play and have that conversation where it isn't interrupting people's real conversation or letting anyone have the ability to post under someone else's name.
  3. I've noticed many things in the chatbox before that have been very useful. People clearing up events and news or asking a question that doesn't really warrant a post but asks about something that you wouldn't know unless you were following a post regularly. So, @Chaos, it's ok with me if it is dead now, if that is what you consider it, but I found it useful enough to check every day, so you tell me. But that's all alright now because @Tempus pointed out that there is a way to get rid of it! Never noticed and won't hesitate to wipe it from my field of view because I don't think I was being harsh when I called it an abomination, unfunny, or unclever. If that's your standard for humor or wit.... it's all yours!
  4. I mean.... it is. I would be willing to bet hard cash that the nearly incoherent roleplay in the chat is all one person. It's effectively useless as a chat box now. If it were funny or clever or..... it's just bad. Does it do any harm to require people to use their profile names?
  5. Yes, and I did. There is a bias created by the author and what he considers proper material to have talked about. There you go. You ignored that before, but it's the truth. He's come out on several topics and said that he will RAFO any question related to ______ or ________. You're conducting an analysis in the dark if you think it doesn't matter, and it's one of the reasons I've dismissed your 75% figure as well as your theory and your thread. Not that the thread is even that bad..... honestly, it's a good collection only because you haven't tried spouting any of this extra stuff.... but I haven't browsed this site in a week or so, so who knows. Anyway, this thread is pretty dead now as far as the main topic is concerned, so I'm done here and you can continue on your board if you like.
  6. Yeah. Too cherry picked to be responding on this thread because it doesn't fit. Keep those legit statistics to your own groundbreaking RAFO analysis thread.
  7. I'm sitting here watching you shape and mold what you are considering in your analysis in this thread. If you are trying to say that 75% of cherry-picked examples are correct, I'm all with you. Otherwise, 75% is.... way too high.
  8. That's not really how it works. You have to consider the difference it makes to have more legitimate content to consider. When people read Words of Radiance, they can start asking questions about what they have read. There is new evidence to take into account in their line of reasoning. SO people guessing about the Cosmere plot after reading the Mistborn Trilogy are going to be making guesses that they wouldn't consider if they had read through WoR (assume they are reading the books as they are published). Can you see how there will be a drastic change over time of how many undanswered RAFO's are successful? Right now the rate is probably abysmal considering how many people on this site alone have different ideas of the characters' intentions. You can't really force statistics like that with lines like "I'll only consider X type of question to in my analysis, but then I'll expand my reasoning to Y type of questions." It's messy and incorrect. You also have to consider that there is a difference between certain unanswered RAFO's. Naturally there wouldn't be, but Brandon is the one that decides what topics get RAFO'd. If Brandon says he is going to RAFO everything from the topic of "Hoid's life pre-Elantris" for example, there are different rules for RAFOs in that scenario than there are for other topics. Hell, there are certain topics (like the names of the Shards or of the Suges, for a while) that get RAFO'd because he hasn't even written them down yet. Those will be RAFO's that don't even have a correct/incorrect at times, or are bias because he might be more or less likely to consider an option after hearing a fan ask about it. There is nothing more significant when assessing a labelled group than the reason they have that label.
  9. Then your comment doesn't make much sense at all. I don't see how your other thread would be relevant seeing as this entire thread is about a RAFO that has not been answered.... You either include those in your analysis, or your past few comments don't apply to this thread.
  10. Ah, I see. That's a great thread. I can see where you are coming from, but there is a crazy bias in those posts. people are looking for those that were answered. Not at the total amount of RAFO's. There are loads of RAFO's on Adonalsium and Cosmere stuff that are potentially decades away from being decided as well. In fact, if you are really including every RAFO, you'd go into the recordings of the signings and you'd see the "Yes"'s are hopelessly behind. People asked questions that have been answered LITERALLY IN THE BOOK THEY ARE HOLDING and they get RAFO'd in the same manner as others. Sometimes he says "That's in Words of Radiance" (which still means RAFO) but mostly he just says "You'll have to read and find out." Can't blame some of those people - it's like mom's buying books for their kids and asking questions for them, but the amount of RAFO that gets cut from the database is staggering.
  11. I'll leave that open to interpretation until someone actually calculates the ratio. Choose whichever feels best.
  12. Go to Theoryland and search for RAFO. The majority of results are WoT based, but the majority turn out to be wrong, hahaha. RAFO is basically him saying "that is a topic I'm not revealing details on." So when you have a thousand people guessing things, nearly zero of them accurately predict the way the books are going to turn out. 75% sounds 70% too high for me.
  13. Forgive me for misunderstanding then. Yeah, Hoid is going to be the main character of Dragonsteel, and one of the main characters of Mistborn arc 3. I would guess that his role in Stormlight Archive will only grow more and more important, but maybe not to the main character level. He could end up on Braize in Stormlight Archive, even. Roshar has pretty good connection to the planet, and Odium obviously has a connection to both as well. It'll be exciting in whatever series, I think we can all agree.
  14. No, it is necessarily true. The third Mistborn trilogy is going to have crossover characters, space travel, all that, and it still shouldn't be something that you need to read other series to understand. Outside of Mistborn, that is. Brandon even said that the "Wrapping up all the Cosmere stuff at the end" book might not even get published unless he thought for there was enough interest in it that it would sell as well as other books. Several times he's said that the Cosmere is supposed to be bonus material that isn't required, but can add a lot for those interested enough to follow. TL;DR: There can be lots of crossover without it being necessary to have read the other books. There is right now in Words of Radiance, for instance.
  15. I think there is confirmation on a couple of these, but I'm not entirely sure, and I don't have the links to them either way. BUT, pretty sure that the Terriswoman was guessed correctly and confirmed at one point.... it didn't seem all that groundbreaking to me other than the point that there are Terris worldhoppers at that time. Also I think Brandon came out and said that the languages were not the same, but that was a coincidence. Last, I think we do have confirmation that Zahel is Vasher. Someone will likely be along soon to provide links, but I didn't want to just leave this sitting here. Also, in this subforum, everything is fair game. No such thing as spoilers.
  16. Hey, how did you like the second book of the Pathfinder series? I assume you read it. I only read the first and kind of lost track of it, but would consider picking it back up.
  17. I just decided in my head that fitting all of the loose ends into one book is totally possible at the length of WMF. I think what has been missing is an understanding of myself: my body and mind are not prepared for a book of that pace and significance.
  18. I was just referring to the vagueness of the title. It shows up on the "Recent Topics" list with no context, so in reality it will be a very uninteresting post to people about an issue that isn't affecting them. Ya fool'd me is all I meant, not that it was the wrong move to have reported it.
  19. I think you may have slightly misunderstood why I said those things. It's hard to put into words, so it's my fault, but I was saying that I think those spren already exist, but they didn't turn out the way you are thinking of. For example, Jezrien displays leadership and protection, and he can Surgebind Adhesion and Gravitation. We have a spren that values leadership and protection specifically, and allows Surgebinding of Adhesion and Gravitation - Syl. I think that would be almost the same thing as a "Jezrienspren" if there was ever to be one. I think the Stormfather is going to be a special case in the world of spren. We already know there won't be more than a couple like him. Either way, it is a spren that might act in the same way as Honor did, but it's really just another spren that grants Surgebinding, like Syl. They both effect the world in their own way, have a physical interpretation of themselves that appears as a human form, and grant Surgebinding. My point was that Taln-spren exist, and we will see them when we have a Stoneward.
  20. Not to be mean, but you may want to change the title of this topic
  21. I don't think this is really how spren work. We don't see spren embodying the idea of specific people, just feelings and concepts. The spren that exist with the intent of imitating the Heralds are the spren associated with Surgebinding. They exist to imitate what the Heralds do. I don't think you'll get much more than that. But Honor and Cultivation are Intents. An Honorspren would be associating itself with the set of values that Honor holds, or at leas the Intent. It's not really related to the actual person holding the Shard.
  22. You won't find any information on those books being key to the central conflict of any other books. They are written as separate series that don't rely on the others. There may be some cool Rosharan myth that you can notice matches up well, but it won't be as significant as you think. At least according to Brandon.
  23. As a rule I always carry a fair amount of silver, but I think my true advantage would be my ability to befriend him, even in his wild, mindless rage. No, I would die.
  24. Booooo! BOOOOOO! I like mine better.
  25. I'm an American living in North Carolina. Nobody from Antarctica yet? Strange....we just found out so much about penguins in another thread.
