  1. "Get her." Metacognition the Thoughtful looked on with a smile on his face, resplendent in his magnificent robes of royal blue and stark, blood red, each color an exact shade, easily recognized by his super-heightened BioChromatic Breath. The Breath of a God. The aura of his, and the other gods', spread out well around them, embellished even further by all of the gods gathered in one spot. The God King had commanded, or at least his Priests had commanded the Court to seek out the Rebels, and Metacognition knew it would take his supreme Thoughfulness and intellectual prowess to lead the rest of the gods through this daunting task. So after a little bit of deliberation, in between breakfast feast and afternoon art viewings, the Court had turned against Lynchbait the Innocent. "Colors, just like her! So Innocent and carefree, she can't even be bothered to answer the summons of the Court." Despite the protests of her royal priests and attendants, the Returned all rallied together and raided the palace belonging to The Goddess of Innocence. She was awoken and pulled out of her golden white bedsheets, matching her deific color-scheme and glowing with her aura, and was unceremoniously gagged and dragged to the steps of the pure black, pyramid-like palace, home of MiriKas, the God King. A sizeable crowd had gathered by time MiriKas made his appearance, keeping even gods waiting in growing anticipation. Suddenly, Lynchbaits white gown erupted into a prism of colors, the entire light spectrum being pulled off of it by the approaching God King, and his unfathomable BioChromatic Aura. The Priests of the God King appeared first, whispering Awakening Commands, the colored sheets they were holding being drained of color as ropes sprang to life and lassoed around the gagged Goddess. Lynchbait rose into the air, eyes furious, struggling against her awakened bonds. "You are permitted to declare your Innocence, and give up your Breath to try and save one of us," Metacognition declared, stepping forward, ripping the gag off of Lynchbait's mouth, giving her a chance. "DEATH TO THE GOD KING AND ALL YOU GLUTTONOUS SCUM!" Lynchbait, the Not-So-Innocent screamed, pure fury and hate in her voice carrying throughout the entire Court of the Gods. "You will never have my Breath," she vowed, "Attack." She gave her final Command, before biting down on her own tongue, vibrant red blood shooting out and spraying across Metacognition's shocked face. At the exact same time, dozens of dull, grey Lifeless squirrels and other small, garden critters sprang forth from the trees and bushes, attacking the rest of the gods in a frenzy, causing mass chaos and confusion. In the ensuing Madness, Meta witnessed one of the God Kings Priests step forward and silencing the laughing Lynchbait permanently with a blade across the throat. One of the panicking gods ran past Metacognition, and bumped into him in the scramble, knocking him to the ground. He reached a hand out and found somebody else picking him up off of the ground. "Thanks," He went to say, when he felt the knife enter into his back. Then his assailant stabbed him rapidly twice more, before twisting the knife one final time. "I don't think you'll be coming back from this one." *** It had taken forever for the God King's Priests to get everything settled down and straightened out, as the Court of the Gods shone just a little bit less brightly, short the Divine Auras of two gods. One thing was clear in the aftermath, however. "It is by decree of the God King himself from henceforth, that all suspects shall have their tongues removed before being presented to his holiness, to avoid any further insults to the Iridescent Tomes and Halladren itself." And with that, the gods of the court were left to themselves once again, to continue hunting. ------------------------- Lynchbait the Innocent was a Rebel Returned! Metacognition the Thoughful was a Returned! Apologies, for I must retcon my earlier decision. After reviewing the ruling, the target of the lynch being able to use their Breath gives too much of a late game advantage when the numbers start to dwindle, and it could potentially lead to unfavorable playstyles, if left unchecked. So from here on out, The target of the Lynch can not use their Divine Breath. If they sent in an order for it, it will be negated. They can still have somebody save them with a Breath, however. Sorry for the retcon, but hopefully I fixed it and addressed most of the issues before it actually became a problem or affected the game in any way. >.> This cycle will last ~24 hours, and end at 9AM EST, Tuesday, August 4th.
  2. Bah, should have figured this game wouldn't have been so simple. XD The Breath mechanic is an odd one to try and fit onto the stack, as either decision I don't want to give any side a clear advantage. Breath before lynch = wasted lynches. Breath after lynch = wasted mechanic. I'm just going to say it all happens at the same time, the lynch and the kills. Whoever is being lynched CAN give up their breath to save another player, as they still need to make a guess on who to save. This might slow things down a bit, or make it trickier as the game gets narrowed down, but I think that's the most fair heading forward, and fits the most flavor-wise. >.> I will gauge reactions when I'm back from work, and make any corrections if necessary. You have a little over 9 hours left in the cycle!
  3. "It appears all of The Gods have agreed, everything is in order." "It would seem that The God King left them all little choice. Rather ruthless, threatening to withhold the weekly Breaths the Returned need in order to survive if they don't help." "You got that right. He is the God King, after all. And a colorful paranoid one at that." The first man sighed. "You wanna know the worst part about being a mercenary?" "The limited job security?" "Well, that. But mostly, the lack of trust. If you looked at me, what do you see? Just another faceless mercenary, willing to be who or whatever you need me to be. But you already know they won't let anybody like me near the Court of the Gods." "Already taken care of, we have a few...insiders...already hidden among them. It seems that not all of the gods take their religion too seriously." The mercenary nodded and smiled, which was a rare occasion. "The best part about being a mercenary? I've been doing this a long time, and I could have told you that nothing is sacred to anybody -- for the right price. Not even the Iridescent Tomes." Let Day 1 Begin! This Cycle will last 24hours until 7AM EST August 3rd! There is a lynch today, and the Rebels get their kill. (Will start getting PMs sent out, just wanted to get the write-up in at exactly the rollover!) Edit: All PMs should be sent out! Let me know if you haven't gotten one or have any questions or issues! Wilson is the Impartial Mod for this game, and if anybody who is not playing wants a Spectator Doc link, just message and let me know! You know the worst part about being a GM? Getting everything out in time.
  4. D'oh, yeah, forgot to announce I was back the other day. (Though to be fair I did secretly get the list updated then) But yeah, sign-ups will last for roughly 8 hours from when this post is made.
  5. Well, I would like to hear from Phat with more accusations springing up like that. While I'm not sure how effective court systems or stuff of that like is, without any actual bite. If we can get a majority of players or Houses to declare sanctions on certain house for their aggressive and egregious behaviours? Or does that open things up too much to houses just ganging up on each other? Although there is always options for retaliations. Don't worry, I have spies working on finding out accurately on who attempted a break-in. #UrbainInquisition. Meanwhile....
  6. Just a heads up that I will be out of town for the next 2 days, and am unsure of internet access at the moment, so I will be able to get any updates or clarifications in whenever I get back!
  7. Was rereading the PM at work, and it was more of just a break-in, it appears, not a full out attack. But still worrying, nonetheless, as I was obviously expected to not be Home at the time. I did manage to injure the intruder, though. So that should potentially help find clues to track them down. Also, I will be out of town for the next 2 days, so I might not be able to keep up on things, will try and catch up with the game Wednesday/Thursday!
  8. Just to let whoever know that you really should have known better than to try attacking my Keep while I was "away" at the Allomantic Games. They do say there is no Inquisition like the Urbain Inquisition. You will be found. (You honestly didn't expect your attack to work, did you?) Will actually make RP when I have time and am back from vacation. Lord Garek Urbain would like to publicly offer a generous reward for the info and whereabouts of his assailants.
  9. Awesome turnout so far! This will be quite a lively court! Updated the player list (finally) and have added any clarifications. (Dying from giving your Divine Breath up can not be saved by another. Too many chances for chain-breath shenanigans.) And as for why anybody would actually use their Breath? That's a good question, isn't it? In a game where there are no Roles or information to be learned from other than the lynches really, will anybody be certain enough of a person's innocence to put their own life on the line and save them? In this game, there's only one way to verify who and what you are.
  10. Garek sighed into his winecup, Glam stormed around the castle, always yelling at him for not getting her the nicest things or ash getting on her pretty dresses or whatever, all the while Finn in the corner, muttering slightly to himself and petting FieDo, who had been unfortunate enough to still be in his dog form. All in all, it was a rather fitting way to celebrate one's birthday in the Final Empire. Or near enough to it that he reckoned it was good to call it so. It seems like people didn't rather keep track of days or time, even in Luthadel. It was either Ash or Mists. He downed his cup and peered the invitation to the Allomantic Games once more, mulling over his decision. Or rather, the best way to go about it. His first thought had to been send criers throughout the streets, carrying pamphlets and yelling "NO!" at the top of their lungs, declaring House Urbain's response to the invitation. Or maybe some of his father's old grafitti trick, while burning Tin one could still see the splotches that had been whitewashed over and were now a gradual stain or gray lighter than the rest of the keep walls. Perhaps he could send his Mistborn flying through the air, mistcloaks billowing and carrying a magnificently large banner, with a large essay written on it explaining why he refused to go. All the words put into the shape of a giant "NO!" of course. But in the end, he reasoned he was just getting on in his years, and old age was starting to creep up on him. He instead went to his bedchambers and sought out his wife. Nobody demanded anything of House Urbain. On what grounds did these petty nobles dare have the audacity to dole out silly ultimatums to their so-called peers. He sniffed in contempt. "FieDo, here boy." The Kandra jumped up, seeming relieved to be called away from Finn, who had taken off to staring at the wall and counting or adding something up with his fingers. "If anybody would care to know, I'll be busy performing my husband-ly duties." "....I don't think anybody wants to know that..." "Exactly. So please hand-deliver this missive to House Una....whatever, declaring my intent on not attending their games, and explicitly describing what I'll otherwise be preoccupied with." So, House Urbain is obviously not attending the Allomantic Games. Just seems like Phat looks pretty guilty, from a general view of the thread, and while the games may help track things down, I just don't really like that "or else" attached to it, or rather Garek, and House Urbain don't. Good luck with the games. Garek will be going for another child, otherwise. He'll send a wine basket to the winner

  12. T'Telir, the shining capital of Halladren, and home of The Court of the Gods, where the Returned ruled as deities over their colorful citizens -- and colorless, lifeless armies -- all while deferring to the God King, MiriKas. Living life as a god would be tough, or so you would have people think, but really you just live in a life of lavishness and luxury, with countless servants to attend your every need and desire, and you only require one thing to live. Breath. The time of living exuberantly is, unfortunately, at an end. A group of infiltrators have managed to gain access to The Court of the Gods, and have subtly managed to get a small group of Returned to join their cause, and to push for war and rebellion against the God King. MiriKas will not tolerate this. You have been ordered to root out the infiltrators and purge the court of all Rebels, at all costs, even if it means your own life. This will be a standard Quick-Fix Game, with Cycles lasting 24 hours and essentially consisting of both Day and Night. Votes will be made publicly in the thread, and the Rebels will get to chose to make a kill each cycle as well. Being that this is the Court of the Gods, and you will all be Returned, there is a twist. Each one of you has your Divine Breath, bringing you back to life for your godly purpose. At any point in the game, all players have the option to send in a PM order to give up your life, saving another player that cycle. This will work for the lynch as well as the Rebel kill. Doing so will automatically kill you, even if who you wanted to save didn't die. There are no roles or other special actions that can be made in this game. For signing up, I'll need a Returned name from each player, and their choice of two colors. Sign-ups will last a little over a week until about 7AM EST, August 2nd. Quick Links:
  13. I would like to thank Kasimir for running this game, and for your overall role in the Elimination sub-forum as a whole! As the Mod who worked with you and helped you with all the difficulties of this game, I think you most definitely do have the capacity and ability to GM games in the future. With all of your mounting real-life priorities and everything, the fact you still kept going is commendable, and you should know you have the players' full appreciation for it. One thing you and everybody in these games should remember is that these Elimination Games are still just experiments! Every new game we're pushing the envelope and trying to shake things up, going bigger and charging forward! We're always trying new things, and when things don't work out quite as expected, other players and future GMs are able to still use and build off of the groundwork that's already been laid. Hindsight is always perfect, but GM'ing is it's own adventure, and a duty that will always be appreciated! So I thank you again for all the hard work you put in for this MR Game (that self-identified as a LG)! I will only echo everybody else in hoping that one day you find your way back to these games! (Even though I'll still send you Spec Doc links)
  14. For those who can't wait for the board game to come out, there is a RPG being ran on the forum that is rather similar and is being played out over the entire course of The Final Empire! Check it out! Heirs to The Final Empire: A Generational RPG
  15. Well, looks like a good time for me to finally get my post-game talk in and close it out! I did ultimately seem like the weakest link for my team, and didn't have too much time to be of much help, but I must say they all did fantastic without me anyway! This game did run spectacularly, and your write-ups were definitely fantastic! Many kudos for the game, Ren! And many thanks for all the players that signed up and played! It looks like we have Mid-Range Game 7 still going, and Long Game 13 has just recently begun, so stay tuned for a Quick Fix game sometime soon! As always, if anyone would like to try your hand at running a game, please get a hold of Myself, Wilson or Meta. Not only will we get you added to the list, but I'm sure we'd be more than willing to help out in any way we can as well! You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone over here in our Art of Game Creation thread as well. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about!
  16. The stacks of papers and reports continued to pile up higher and higher, ledgers and trade transactions, housing reports, incomes and expenses, all of them overspilling and never ending. Garek put down the pen, his hand cramping up from all of the writing, his eyes burning from squinting at the fine script. Even with tin and pewter, it all grew exhausting after 30 straight hours. He reached for the glass of wine off to his right, decided better of it, and grabbed the still half-full bottle next to it instead. He always tried to get all of his House Duties before having fun. He wouldn't get drunk and neglect his responsibilities. He wasn't his father. Garek sighed and popped the cork. FieDo slid into the room, his soft, padded feet almost unnoticeable except for the fact he was burning tin steel. And the steel collar wrapped around its neck was a dead giveaway. Garek would never admit it around anybody else, but those creatures had unnerved him ever since he had it wearing his father's bones. He understood their usefulness and versatility, but a chameleon like that could not be trusted. How would I even know if that was truly FieDo? "Sir, your constituents want to review your latest expenditures." Your House wants to know why you keep spending so much rusting money. "I already told them!" Garek said a little more forcefully than he meant, his voice rising, and him slamming the goblet down with pewter-enhanced strength with a resounding clang. Perhaps he shouldn't have had the distilleries' brew up that special super-strong vintage that could get even a mistborn burning pewter tipsy. He had finished 5 bottles himself within the last...however long he had been at it. "Do they not see what happened to House Tekiel?! It's already starting! The other Noble Houses will kindly feed us the scraps from their dinner plates, smiling and making polite conversations, but as soon as our backs are turned, they sharpen their knives and make their plans. They'll bury us in the ash and never look back, if given the chance. And I will NOT. Not let them take my father's legacy -- my legacy -- from me." He almost shouted the last words before downing the rest of the bottle of wine he had been holding but miraculously hadn't shattered in his grip. He took a deep breath and continued. "So if I need to train people how to fight and beat mistborn, then that's what I'll do. I'd feel much more comfortable being surrounded by men I am confident are able to kill men like me."
  17. While Kas has seemed to have addressed most of any issues that have come up with the change, and most of the players seem to have discussed things and gotten it mostly settled, I feel like I should speak up as the Impartial Mod that helped Kas reach this decision. While it of course can be easy to look back and see what choices could have been better chosen, GM'ing a game is a taxing process, and requires a lot of hard and dedicated work to help try and make the game as fun as possible for players. This is especially true for Faction Games, and is always the case when new mechanics are at work. Honestly, some things can just not be predicted or just don't quite always work out. That said, the particular matter at hand, the whole Bribery mechanic is definitely tricky, at best, and I'm sure lots of post-game dissection can help figure out any kinks or problems, it was just the whole Faction v Discovery warfare really was a unique aspect, and while it'll happen that players will always find ways to loophole the game rules to always shift it in their favor -- that's honestly a part of the game -- it's about respecting the rules and the word of the GM, IMO. While the GM definitely shouldn't just change rules and do whatever based on whim (And I definitely don't think that's what happened here), sometimes the person running the game does have the best insight into what can be wrong/broken with a game, and it's only natural to try and patch it. The ultimate point, if not the sole focus, of these games are of course to have fun, and ideally for all participants. Things might not go right, and sometimes that's just how it happens to play out. Again, post-game analysis can help dig through why things unfolded like they have. This is not a condemnation of Faction games, nor any rules or player/GM actions. These games are a constant experiment to have fun and be entertained. We all take time out of our days to come here and enjoy this small section of the Forum. Now let's have fun killing each other! *Gamman waves a blood-soaked Awakened Blade at the players*
  18. Garek strode through the halls of his inherited keep, accompanied by the clacking sound of his fine wooden walking cane tipped with a skillfully crafted obsidian handle, as skaa workers and laborers running to and fro as construction went underway to rebuild the keep in it's entirety. His father had insisted on trying to hoard wealth and name, producing nothing but wines -- although admittedly tasty -- it was not what sustained a household. And with his big sister Fia out of the picture.... Garek sighed, stopping and taking a sip from his handy flask that he always kept on him. It was good wine, even if the name Urbain Noir was a little bit outlandish. So yes, he would benefit from what his father had built, but he would not be the fool that he was and try and hold wealth and title simply for the sake of having wealth and title. Not if you didn't do anything with it. He put his hands to his mouth and whistled loudly, causing him to slightly wince as he was burning tin, and sure enough a few moments later FieDo came bounding around the corner, obeying his summons. He grimaced as the Kandra tried to skid to a halt, but kept going with it's momentum and crashed into a few craftsmen carrying a marble bust of Gamic walking by. Garek winced. Well I couldn't very well have him walking around with the bones of my father.... He had thought it ingenious to hide his faithful Kandra servant -- kept handy and in check with Emotional Allomancy -- in the bones of a giant wolfhound instead. Black, with a big white spot over it's left eye. It appeared to still be getting used to the new form. "I swear, never again, as long as The Lord Ruler reigns and the Final Empire holds triumphant, shall another of my kind be so humiliated and disgraced." FieDo grumbled as it picked itself up and padded over to sit down by Garek's side. "And stop petting my head." *** When Keep Urbain was finished being refurbished, Garek sent out invitations to all of the other Lords and Ladies of Luthadel, inviting them to come celebrate in honor of The Lord Ruler and The Final Empire. Attached to each Nobles' invitation letters was a corresponding page from the deceased Gamic's private journal, mad ramblings and complaints about their mothers and fathers and houses, lists of rumors and weaknesses that were known, scandals and affairs and all sorts of personal vendettas, all sorts of rebukes and preconceived and nonexistent slights. Sending those was Garek's way of trying to 'clear the air' between the houses, or that's what he told FieDo when the invitations were sent out. The Keep itself though did look magnificent, as Garek poured all of his families resources into the renovations and didn't hold back a single expense. The outside of the keep was an expertly built wall, slanting outwards as to discourage and overextend would-be attackers. The parapets were lined with murderholes, ready for coinshots or stone and obsidian tipped arrowheads and boiling oilpots, as guards and Mistborn patrolled the perimeter. Flying outside the white marble footsteps leading up to the polished doors was a giant flagpole, waving the House Urbain banner proudly, and on the highest pole in all of Luthadel. Garek had flown up there personally and placed the flag. Everything inside was immaculate, with exquisite rugs from the Outer Dominances and tapestries lining the walls, praising The Lord Ruler's glorious victories and rise to power. However, The Ballroom was the crown jewel of the entire keep. Sixteen blazing limelights lit up the ballroom dancefloor, illuminating the sparkling obsidian and ebony arranged in alternating checkerboard patterns. The lights a magnificent rainbow when cast through the exquisitely crafted stained-glass mosaic windows, painting The Lord Ruler's defeat of The Deepness and rebuilding of the entire world and crafting of The Final Empire -- the ultimate tribute. The deep hues and bright colors meshing together beautifully and evoking some sort of reaction from the observer. Garek particularly liked the oranges and purples. Boom! RP! Really sorry I haven't gotten any more in, Wyrm! >.> I know you are taking a good chunk of your Sundays to run this for us, and we all definitely appreciate it! But I do bet you were imagining more RPG, not RPG. I shall try and make sure I get more interactive with my RP soon! Time for us Nobles to come out of hiding!
  19. I was really hoping to get some final RP in for Gamic before the Generation Rollover. >.> Perhaps I can squeeze some in later, but for now, I'll post my public action. (Sorry, Wyrm!) Turn 4 Action 3: Gamic Urbain is buying some prime land locations throughout Luthadel! He figures, with a growing city, eventually space will be hard to come buy, causing some sort of real estate bubble or something, making choice land and properties worth a good bit more. It's called Investment!
  20. As per request of the GM, just popping in here for the friendly reminder on Fair Play policy and etiquette! There haven't been any real issues yet, just more of a preemptive reminder! Also, as in regards to the clarification of purposely Sabotaging your Team, while we don't have anything officially in the Fair Play Rules -- and most of you are already aware of my reputation and shenanigans of the sorts in previous games -- I can say from firsthand experience, that most players don't tend to enjoy that particular play-style. >.> And besides, this game is already bloody enough and full of backstabbings and betrayals as it is!
  21. And that's a wrap! Whew! Was this an epic game to watch and follow! Double the kudos to both Hero and Tulir for running such a great game, and many thanks to all of the players who keep signing up and enjoying these games! We currently have QF8 reaching it's climactic end, and MR7 has just started and is on it's way! Don't worry. there will be plenty more opportunities to sign-up in the future!
  22. I sometimes keep track of the vote tally in a notebook and player activity to keep track of, but I've never taken any extensive notes myself, although as Meta and Wilson have pointed out, it can be quite effective and helpful to help narrow down suspicions and track 'scummy' behavior in a game. Then some other players prefer instead to keep track of players from game to game with how prolific or high profile they can be, as more of a note to keep an eye on them, or even be able to get a feel for their typical play style in most games as to try and use that as a clue when something's off possibly. If you feel like it's something that can help, then I definitely say go for it, and I imagine it will make the games a stormload lot easier to keep track of everything! Oooh, the Wounded Gazelle, or WGG. Once again, both my fellow Mods have done quite an extensive job explaining it and it's practices, so too much more can't be said on it, other than it definitely helped open up the SE Games to a whole new level of treachery and gameplay tactics. Of course, as the forever Paranoid player that I am, I'm of course always wary of some sort of scheme or play that merits a player some sort of trust or soft-confirmation in the eyes of the villagers, but it may have gotten to almost to the point where everyone almost kind of expects the gambit, but nobody ever truly believes the Eliminator Team would actually risk going for it, which gives it the opportunity to actually succeed! (See: metagame) Now, to turn things around a little bit, I have a question or two for my fellow Mods! What Sanderson Worlds would you like to see explored more, potentially, or what in-world mechanics do you think would be neat to eventually try and capture in these games? (Or even explored further upon!) And, what Non-Sanderson worlds would you like to be used at settings for in these games potentially? (Star Wars, Power Rangers, Cthulu, etc.?)
  23. I think you might be reading into that write-up a little bit too literally, as I bought myself a med-kit, because I was being publicly called to be assassinated. >.> I honestly thought Shallan was for sure a CC there at the end, though. so I'm kind of back to square one now, although I'm not too long for this world regardless. I can still all force you to make me a last meal, however!
