It's a totally broken power. It just makes no sense. And I don't like it. It's the 'easy way out' in writing. And not to mention half the inconsistencies of it being throughout the series. Did balefire annoy anybody else while reading Wheel of Time? I love the books. Love the story. The character, the complex worldbuilding. The magic uses. It's all great. But balefire just really irks me.

How do you like your Brandon served?
Gamma Fiend replied to Mikanium's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I've never actually listened to an audio book before. I've always read physical copy. I don't like much reading on a computer screen for prolonged periods of time either. Just a nice book in the hands will always do. Easier to lend to friends.- 28 replies

If stormlight archive was the wheel of time
Gamma Fiend replied to king of nowhere's topic in Stormlight Archive
If Stormlight Archive were Wheel of Time... Gawyn would still be the worst character ever. Seriously. Can anybody even tolerate that little prick? I believe this is the character Jordan wanted to hate. Like, "Here's what happens when you become the whiniest, most incompetent character in the series. Who's assumptions about absolutely everything is completely wrong and just makes a fool of himself" - That's what Robert Jordan was thinking when he wrote Gawyn. -
Allomancy on the big screen.. What would work? [Spoilers]
Gamma Fiend replied to Mikanium's topic in Mistborn
What about the Mistborn video game being planned? What you guys think of that? It could either be the best game ever. Or the biggest flop. But with sanderson helping it out and doing the writing, I have high hopes. -
I think the Robert Jordan was able to finish the series as he wanted it. He had it already written. Most big scenes he already had planned and written. That and all the notes are what Brandon had to work off of. But the ending and major points would've all been the same, it just would've taken a tad longer to get there using Jordan time. And I don't believe for a second RJ was planning on Taim being Demandred. It would have been too easy and obvious. We have tons of books of rumours and whispers of Shara. Just enough to let us know it's there. That was the best surprise for me in AMoL.

Oh yes, Syl would get some payback. I think an interesting conversation would be Syl and Wyndel. I believe Syl is more Honor based than Cultivation, so they might not be too familiar with eachother. How much better would it be if Kaladin had Wyndel though? He could actually sit down, and have a very thorough, in-depth conversation with him and figure out so much about the nature of Spren and Surgebinding. But Brandon made the right call. Lift and Syl would just be too ridiculous of a team. (That's of course ignoring the type of Spren they are relating to what Surges they give, but just personality wise. And not getting into why Wyndel remembers and knows more than Syl, etc.)

I feel based off of Avi's viewings in the ter'angreal we can get a decent picture of how things work out in "RandLand" for a few generations. The Dragon's Peace holds for a little while, and is gearing up toward a new Age of Legends. Or the Era before one at least. We have new technologies popping off left and right (The Steamwagons, Aludra's Dragons, the "storing of lightning in jars", sounds like batteries to me). This will lead to an Industrial Revolution of sorts. With the Seanchan and the Aiel, we see most of the Aiel will eventually be hunted down, to the last remnant of a remnant. I personally believe that remnant is what remained of the Shaido Aiel who first fled back across the Dragonwall to the Three Fold Land. They had the most time to spread out and hunker down. And yes, there was talks of more Mat books and probably awesome generaling in Seanchan, but I don't think Sanderson will do it. We'll just have to believe that Mat out over there being a BAMF. Although I do want to know what Arthur Hawking had to say to Tuon...

Lift just runs up and grabs Syl, "Got you now, you filthy lil' Voidbringer!" Kaladin: "Um.... what?" I don't think Syl would like that very much...

I don't even want to get into the implications of her being able to touch spren, or "existing partially in the cognitive realm" like Wyndel says. Does this mean she can interact and possibly see other typing of bonding spren? Would she see and interact with Syl or the Cryptics?

I still think Lift can't absorb Stormlight from gems or the traditional methods. That might be one of the pay-offs of her power (not exactly the curse, maybe just a side-effect). Because she held out a diamond chip still with stormlight right after she first used her "awesomeness". Will be useful for escaping quite a bit I imagine. Your captors won't keep you near gems, but they'll probably always feed you.

If stormlight archive was the wheel of time

Adolin will marry the Princess of the Parshendi, and then immediately continue to wage war against her army. I miss this thread... -
My deck runs 4x Crpyt of Agadeem. Land that you pay 1Black and tap and get one black mana for each black creature in my graveyard. It runs R/B/U and just has a bunch of 1 or 2 cost cycling black creatures and discarding half my hand or dumping a bunch of creatures in the graveyard. So by turn 6-7 I'll have at least 7 if not more black creatures in my graveyard, and then I'll get at least 10+ mana to use every turn. And I wait until I have enough unearth creatures in the graveyard, summon leviathon, bounce everything, then spend buko mana to bring everything back at once and usually kill in one swing. That is the downfall of this deck, it's really only a "one or two swings" to kill the opponent. But unless they have 30+ life by turn 6 its usually over. Just depends on the draw. I'll post the actual deck list if youre interested.

Theory: Adonalsium cannot be put back together again
Gamma Fiend replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I like this theory. Adonalsium won't be able to be perfectly put back together. I think of it like this: So we had Ruin and Preservation, and they became Harmony. So we see that Shards can merge to become a new intent. Luckily these two counterbalanced eachother out. But now what if Harmony picked up the Endowment shard, let's say. I think that the Shards would blend in a ratio sort of deal, with more Harmony intent over-riding the Endowment part. So each time you put Shards back together, you would be creating whole new Intentions. So once you get a large enough Chunk of Shards, whatever individual Intents you feed into won't make much difference, in my opinion. Does that make sense? -
Get 4x Gigiantiforms in there. Enchant creaure becomes 8/8 with trample. So it still keeps all other properties, just it's base power/strength. So 8/8 infect trample usually rolls right over anything your opponent has. My Knight Deck: 4x Mirran Crusader - 2/2 double strike, pro green and black 4x Knight Exemplar - 2/2 all other knights get +1/+1 and Indestructible (get 2 out and they give it to eachother) 4x Student of Warfare - 1/1 levels up to 4/4 DS 4x Accorder Paladin - 3/1 battle cry (other attacking creatures get +1/+0) 4x Skyknight Legionaire - 2/2 flying 4x Hero of Bladehold - 3/4 Battle cry and pumps out 2 attacking 1/1 soldiers when she attacks 4x Day of Judgement -Destroy all Creatures 4x Brave the Elements - all my creatures get Protection color of choice until end of turn Then a few disenchants or random power-ups and around 20 plains. Just basically wheel and deal creatures all buffing eachother up and overpowering my opponent. Wipe the board with DoJ if I need to, and Brave the Elements to sneak past mono-colored decks . Edit: And to Alaxel: My response to your deck - Unearth Deck with Kedredkt Leviation. When it comes into play all other nonland permanents return to their owners hands. And I can effectively play that card 8+ times a game.

Can I use this quote as my sig? Or do I have to wait until stuff from the WoR spoilers are allowed to be discussed on the whole forum?

Now with the Shardhunt on this site, it's totally worth it. And no elaborate costumes required!

Wolfsisters would be pretty cool. And I have an interesting combination. An Aes Sedai finding a Wolfbrother and using the hybrid-ward bond that Elayne, Avi, and Min on him and the Wolfbrothers companion wolf. So then they would all be aware of eachother. And I like how Bonding works somewhat opposite for genders, which makes sense. How a Female Channeler can compulse a regular Warder, but not a Male Channeler. And vice versa for Male channelers. Or how Elayne and Birgette reflect eachother's moods. They're more aware of eachothers emotions and moods. So if a Male Channeler bonded a regular male as a warder, would they barely be able to tell eachother's moods, and just get the "pain/alive" awareness?

I have a friend who does this every year and tried getting me to do it a few years back. It's a really cool ideal and sounds like a lot of fun. It's basically called "writing with reckless abandon". And the advice I was given was "don't get it right, get it written" Just write, write, write, and write. Think ya have a inconsistency? Keep writing. Want to add more depth to an earlier scene? Don't care. Keep writing. Didn't peg that introduction scene of a favorite character? Why bother asking? Just keep writing. There's a month designated later on down the line for editing and cleaning up. November is just for reaching that 50k word goal. No matter what. I might actually go for it this year. I know I have plenty of ideas.

Okay but excuse you, we need to talk about this

Buy. because I want to see if they turn into thunderclasts.

Alright, crazy thought. What if somebody just happened to be able to Channel and were a Wolfbrother. (or Sister. Don't see why girls couldn't get the power either) So, they can Channel. they can talk to wolves. They become really connected with a certain wolf that's probably already saved their lives. I don't see why a Warder bond wouldn't work? What would it be like? Would it be dangerous? (the feral instincts of a wolf over-riding your brain sometimes?)

Lift might just be my new favorite character in the series for now. And she is very interesting. Her food metabolizing power is interesting. Maybe she can't drain stormlight energy from gems now as a result. She's probably never had money, and probably won't for a while, so we'll have to see. But her 'awesomeness' power is definitely pretty nifty.

Buy. Hopefully it's one of those earlier mentioned savants.

Also. I was under the assumption that the blades were left in the Shattered Plains. I always imagined the Heralds standing on the "Tower" plateau and leaving the blades there when walking away. With all the descriptions of the rocky pillars, and the chasmfiends. But I could be totally wrong.

The Two Forms and Three Names of the Dragon (theory)
Gamma Fiend replied to Cartith's topic in The Wheel of Time
I would think there's a Taint every cycle. If the history repeats for the Imperfect Seal, then whatever power source touched the Bore directly gets tainted. So we assume already that that's Saidan everytime. I'm willing to buy that. I just think that Saidar having a Cycle of Taint would be more balanced, and would possibly explain Nakomi's presence. Edit: also, I'm on a re-read currently, and am on book 10. So Saidin has been clean. And Rand hasn't met with Moridin in the Dream Realm yet. And Moridin is always convinced that everytime the Shadow will win. that's why he picks the DO's side every time.
