Yeah, the Spy being inactive really did help the PK to last for as long. But with limited verification, Aodan did do a good job of getting a nice Trust going. As to why I latched onto Wilson as a teammate early on in the game, as she stated in the PK Doc, I gave a reason because we had good team synergy in the past, and I knew she was either going to be a potential ally, or she would be the Pahn Kahl. So we would either work together, or I knew if she was Pahn Kahl and thought I completely trusted her, then she would keep me around. (Even though she did contemplate taking me out a few times in the Doc, it seems) So I kept that in mind going forward at first. Because I started with only 1 Breath, so I knew I would never be able to get too much power going for myself. So I had to gain somebody's trust. When Wilson received my breath, that's when my suspicions started paying off, and I even let Aodan know when he came out as the Monk. But as the game progressed and all the Roles and interactions started coming together, I did start to realize the Villagers had the edge this game, which was balanced out by the Idrian vs Halledren dynamic. That was really great, by the way, Claincy. It really did help add a whole other level of deception, and of course allowed my betrayal. XD And then there was my expressed interest in the PK winning.... (which was, again, a test of sorts, to gauge Wilsons reaction) But then by time Wilson came forward to me and offered to give me Cuddles, how could I refuse?! I mean, an awakened sword of my own!! And then how the night results played out, with how things worked out, I figured I might as well not even make it any easier for the Villagers. Why cut the game short and not have as much fun? (Although I would have left with the PK if they did so, like was discussed for a moment. I did advise for the game to just play out, though. I mean, you did a great job, Claincy.) So, yeah. That's basically it. I do know the betrayal thing could set a bad precedent, especially for future games that involve only two sides. But for how things worked out in this game, I think it didn't really effect too much. Great game, everybody!

That Doc is a Masterpiece. I may have just skimmed for the 117 mentions of Gamma/Gammer.... I'll update later to explain my game actions and go in-depth about the decision for my betrayal.

Alright, with Maill's game underway, I will be running the Quick Fix Game # 3 after Rubix's game ends, so it'll be maybe towards the end of Maill's game, or sometime during Bart's, I imagine. How does everybody feel about a game set on Threnody? It's the world of the Cosmere short story Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell. (Was included in the Dangerous Women Anthology). For those unfamiliar with the world, I will try and keep the game spoiler-free from the story, and I'll only introduce the basic mechanics of the world, so it will be pretty loosely based to allow for more free RP. And following the Format of Tempus' First Quick Fix game, I decided to keep it short but sweet. What do you all think? Anything you like or don't like? Do you think just the Investigator is enough for these quick style games? Would you prefer the votes to be shown with the write-up? Or incorporated into the RP itself? Remember, us GMs are doing this so you can have a fun game, so please let me know how I can make this game better for you!

Later today I'll be getting to go meet Brian McClellan at the Release Party at my local B&N. I'm super excited for this! I wasn't able to finish my re-read in time for the release, so I won't be able to start Crimson Campaign right away, but this will still definitely be a great opportunity. Never got to meet an author before. I'll post a results of any questions I'll ask and anything when there. Also, quick question.... Promise of Blood ending question:

Gammer wanted to feel saddened at the loss of her only true friend in the town. Wil'son was the best fabric merchant she had ever known, being one of the few only other people who appreciated colours as much as her. One didn't need to have Breath to see the true beauty of the Iridescent Tones. And Wil'son's allegiance to the Pahn Kahl did entice Gammer's more macabre side. She was surprised nobody else saw it before her death. Her fascination with the murders and the lynches, her silent vigils in the hangman's square, her relentless recording of the events with the embroidery. She didn't do all of that to figure out a mystery or catch the perpetrators. No. She reveled in the Chaos. So when she was offered to help out the Pahn Kahl... of course she couldn't resist. But in the void of Cuddles it was getting harder and harder to feel emotions and remember things. She remembered she kept her promise, though. "I told you all, didn't I, Tril? I told you all I wouldn't reveal your identities. And living out the rest of our days of consciousness in such a magnificent creature as Cuddles isn't so bad, is it?" At least, that's what Gammer tried to say, but it only came out as a buzz, a ripple in the array of shifting colours that was now the essence of Tril and herself. "Shhhh. Don't worry. I'll make sure you're comfortable. I'm going to Cuddle you forever and forever...." a voice echoed throughout the void. And faintly, she could hear a follow up question. "Did I do good?".

Some men old women just want to watch the world burn.... So if I was the Dark Knight last game... I guess that makes me the Joker this time around. Edit:Or Two Face. I guess I'll just miss the obvious Batman villain....

"Welcome, Monk." Gammer said as Aodan joined her and Tril in Cuddles. The sword was of course happy, Gammer could almost feel it beaming. The black void started moving and rushing about, tossing Gammer's soul about like a log in a choppy river, she was a soul floating along a stream of souls. Colours started rushing in out of the darkness, and the inside of Cuddles was soon a warm, soft glow of a myriad of colours. Gammer could feel Cuddles vibrating with the energy. "YUMMMMMM!"
-
Gammer awoke to a soft embrace, with a voice booming in her head. "CUDDLES!" She floated in a colourless void, as black as the midnight sky. She felt no pain, and movement didn't require any motion, for she was a just her soul, floating bodyless in some dark, unseen world. She heard Cuddles asking her if she felt comfortable, and she felt herself smile. Yes, dear, she thought to the sword. I am perfectly fine. "Well I just want to make sure. I am supposed to Cuddle people, afterall. Here, there's some company in here so you don't get lonely!" Gammer turned around and saw a swarm of colours heading her away, an amorphous swirl of hues. "Hello Tril, old friend." Gammer said.

Well with the agreed bump for Maill to run the next game before Bart and then me, I think I'll sign up to try to GM a Quick Fix game for a mini version of my WoT game I was planning, and then I can just plan for my Metal Flaring Game! Edit: Signing up to GM a Quick-Fix after Rubix's game, of course. I figure that should either be towards the end of Maill's game or around Bart's game time, and with the fast-paced nature of the games shouldn't hopefully overlap my GM'ing. Of course if other people want to take a stab at Quick-Fix, please feel to sign up and I'll anyone else go ahead of me if they want. I just figure I'd sign up just so we have somebody when the time comes if nothing else.

So is the Ghostbloods win condition just obtaining a Soulcaster and Shardblade/Plate? Or do they need to get a full Shard Set (Plate + Set). Because I still think that might be too easy for them. With luck, they could basically just win within a couple nights if they hit the right people. Also, I don't think the Pain Knife will ever get used for it's vote-blocking ability. Night action blocking is way more useful, I think, since you can't even be sure who the person who's vote you'd be blocking will even be voting for the next day. (Unless Dueling comes into play, which will still be hard to determine who will all be Challenigng whom) And with the Shardplate, I'm only reading one Night Kill action besides the Shardblade kills, so does the Shardplate protect from Shardblade AND a regular Night-kill? Does being a Shardbearer mean only owning either a Blade or a Plate? What happens if 2 or more people with Shards challenge a duel during the same Vote cycle? Does the vote then get split between all who declared Duels, instead of who they declared their Challenge on?

Even before Harry Potter I used to try and read Fantasy/Sci-fi books, they just seemed cool to me. Around 4-7th grade, and in between all the Harry Potters, I remember reading some of the Everworld series books, I read the War of Souls Trilogy from the Dragonlance, and a bunch of other small, random things. And then around 8th grade or so I started reading Stephen King, and the Dark Tower series. I mostly stayed on King and other stuff, but then around the time Game of Thrones came out, my friend told me about Wheel of Time. Luckily was on book 10 or so already by time book 14 came out, and that was my introduction to Brandon Sanderson, of course reading the Game of Thrones books too along the way and now many others.

Gammer tried stitching Sart's name into the embroidery, but with all of the red thread flowing around her fingers.... to her it just looked like more blood on her hands. The dwindling number of villagers had all gathered around the Green Potato, silently contemplating what next. Gammer figured they unconsciously started gathering there, trying to avoid association with the former Pahn Kahl owner of the Red Salmon. Aili was going through all the motions of opening for business, but Gammer didn't think the Returned's heart was in it, you could feel Aili's smoldering desire to catch and kill the remaining murderer, it was a thick tension in the air around her. How many more innocents will be butchered in this pursuit? Gammer knew asking questions like that was pointless at this point in time. They were too dedicated, and the many, many deaths could not be in vain. OOC: Well, huh. I didn't really think Sart was too guilty after he gave up his breath like that but I didn't think my vote would count anyways.

Was definitely an interesting quick little game. As I was killed pretty early on, couldn't participate much, but it was still fun to follow along. I kind of liked what you were going for with the lack of lists and putting it in the write-up instead, but I do think it initially threw people off. Most, I think, because mostly we weren't expecting it like that, and were used to the format we've used in larger games. Because I initially thought all votes were going to be completely private, so I was kind of surprised when it showed up in the first write-up like that. That's not a bad thing, it was actually an interesting twist we had to adapt to. The slow start probably did help the Cultists, as they were able to get good momentum going, but now that we know that's how these games will work, we can adapt and adjust our strategies going forward. All in all, I think this was a pretty successful game game. I really only slightly suspected Caan, and that was just mostly a gut feeling, so the other Cultists did a good job avoiding suspicion. And I think with the limited information and the newer style of game play, the Innocents still did a good job, I'd say.

Hey, if I'm asking questions good enough for him to give a RAFO, then I'm doing something right.

Google Hangout w/ Brian McClellan & Brandon Sanderson
Gamma Fiend replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
Around 20 minutes or so in, I believe. It went on for at least a few minutes too, actually. It definitely looked like the moderator was a little exasperated they ended up so far off topic, lol. But hey, that's what you get when you get two bona-fide nerds together via web chat. I was definitely more interested in McClellan's answers that he gave to the questions, because it's cool to get his view on things from a relatively newer author. Can't wait to meet him, though. He seems like a super nice guy. -
Google Hangout w/ Brian McClellan & Brandon Sanderson

My favorite part was when Brandon and Brian just started talking about Civilization games. That was hilarious. Also, at the end, when Brandon mentioned he's been reading a lot about Aztec cultures, does that mean we should expect some Aztec-influenced group of people in Sanderson's books soon? (Oh, duh, just answered my own question. Rithmatist 2, probably.) -
Oh, so next week on the 10th, I should be going to a book signing of Brian McClellan, so since this is the thread for it, any of you have any questions you want me to ask him? Let the 17s invade other authors worlds with our detailed questions and analysis! Some of the questions I have so far are: What's the difference between snorting gunpowder and swallowing it? As Taniel and Tamas each consume in those two different ways. What about gunpowder makes it not have an Aura in the Else? Is that what gives it it's properties to be used as it's own form of magic? Is there anything else that doesn't have an Aura in the Else? If a Privileged has to follow the "Kresimir's Promise" or whatever it's called (I'm re-reading the book now, I'll get a specific name for what I'm talking about), if they become a Magebreaker, would that break the bonds of the compulsion?

Gammer strolled through Cog's now abandoned house, the place was still a wreck from the skirmish last night, tables and chairs and all sorts of furniture was strewn about. She was absorbed in the Diagram Cog had left behind. It truly was a masterpiece. She traced one of the lines with a finger, following it's trail down wall until it's inevitable conclusion. Gammer had much work to do, new information had to be added to the embroidery, that all encompassing story-teller. But before she added in last night's victims names, she wanted to make sure she added in her own touch as well. Sart. She began to stitch his name into the embroidery. That was her next suspect. The man was quiet, and Gammer hadn't seen him add too much to any of the conversations. Maybe he knew the more he spoke, the higher chance of revealing something he shouldn't know? Gammer wasn't sure, but it was her best bet, so far. She prayed to the Iridescent* Tones that she wasn't wrong again. Edit: Thanks, Aili. Knew that looked wrong. XD

I'm excited for the trust placed in me to be a Sub-mod, and working with Meta and Wilson in here going forward should be a real blast. So please feel free to contact any of us with any questions or concerns because, like as stated above, with one of us always sitting out we should always be able to handle any possible issues moving forward without compromising any games running at the time. And if Wilson is chill, and Meta is hot, then I guess that makes me lukewarm.

Gammer slowly embroidered along to the solemn music floating in through the window, a melody perfectly setting the tone for the final stages of the embroidery. Gammer nodded contently, knowing it was almost complete, but still requiring the few, essential details. Which way would this go from here? The imagery of a shroud of colours pouring from an Idrian church, flowing forth from the center of the image like a coiling rope. Was it holding the rest of the scene together, or was it squeezing it to death, draining the life and colour from it? Only time would tell. A plucked note brought her back from her contemplation, a note that was left ringing in juxtaposition to the sweet, soft melody of sad chords coming from Elo's lute, now handled by the Monk. Gammer shifted in her seat uncomfortably. That colour-blasted Spike that was now secured in her would take a little bit of time getting used to.

Gammer lamented the death of Thomas. She knew in her gut that he was just another unlucky innocent, caught up in the ceaseless bloodshed. How much longer? Gammer solemnly thought to herself. She grimly stitched Thomas' name into her embroidery, the messy red blood spilling out from his name to indicate another mistaken lynching. At this rate, there won't even be enough of us left to negotiate out a Treaty. She knew the Idrian and Halledren conflicts were still put on hold until the rest of the Pahn Kahl were rooted out, but she couldn't shake her feeling of uneasiness. She was about to get back to stitching her embroidery when she noticed something odd... one of those colour-blasted Rabbits that had been plaguing the town had hopped up to her and was staring her down. She admired it's fearlessness. And this one was a monstrosity, with botched patches of failed shavings and muddled pockets of colour blending together indistinguishably. She hesitantly reached her hand out, deciding against using her long needle at the last second, and actually petted the rodent. Maybe they're just misunderstood... Gammer began to reluctantly think.... OOC: Well, I don't want to be one to dispute any else's RP, (even if they are dead), so I'm just gonna roll with Gammer having a change of heart about the Returned Rabbits.

Well, apologies Joe. I was just seeing if the Dice were continuing their trend with making you evil.... my bad. I don't see why anybody even voted for themselves, though. Or why people are publicly claiming to be Vanilla, or not. Even if you're telling the truth about your Role, then that just gives the Mafia Team less targets to chose from to get the Priest (cop) before they can do their job effectively. Gamene awoke to another grizzly scene, another murder in the night. And she had even helped condemn Joe to exile, a guaranteed death from exposure. She felt sick to her stomach. How were they supposed to survive this? Faidh was standing up, drawing attention to himself, declaring they everyone there only had less than a week, at most. No, Gamene did not feel particularly clever, at the moment. She just felt trapped.

Well, Cen spoke up, so I guess I'll change my vote to Ver, see if he pops in and makes any sort of defense. I mean, I'm Drab anyway, so there's always the chance my vote won't even count.
