  1. These are very fair questions and good points. It shows how perfectly worded the Fain role needs to be. The whole thing with 'betraying' them can get very confusing, as what draws the line of betrayal or not? Your example I would almost consider betrayal, just because of how it's worded is purposely trying to make Fain a target. But that makes things too difficult, I think. I'm going to keep it how it originally is, with the Darkfriends having no restriction on betraying Fain or anything. You could technically reveal Fain if you want to, but where's the fun in that? And that will just make Fain be more careful of who he targets. Apologies for the uncertainty of your GM.
  2. I was definitely going to try and wait until I have at least 25 players but I'll try and leave it open for a couple days after that to get as many last minute, extra players as possible. If there aren't 25 players by Sunday the 15th. Either way, there will be a post announcing when the game is about to start, you'll have at least a days warning.
  3. Not saying we need to march to war ourselves, exactly. We just need to be Sticks! We must be strong. Resolute. Unyielding. Show them that their other Factions are meaningless entities and their battles but meaningless squabbles compared to the Eternal Glory of Stick. With only one sentence uttered, you too can become enlightened. To quote the holiest of scriptures:
  4. No, that's a fair point. Maybe he can perform the Group Night Kill on Padan Fain if he wished but just can't say anything to reveal/indicate who Padan Fain is. But let's hope for the sake of having more fun, that any Darkfriends who get Corrupted just go with the whole betrayal gig.
  5. Crap. >.< Sorry about that, lol. I had you down on my two other lists but I musta forgot to update the Thread One. Also, I was thinking of the Padan Fain role and how the Corruption works with Darkfriends. Do you guys think I should add it into the rules that Corrupted can not betray or kill Padan Fain? Since I was thinking about it, theoretically, if Padan Fain Corrupts a Darkfriend on Night 1 by chance then all it would take is for the Darkfriend to tell the rest of his team right then and Fain would be taken out immediately. I was just thinking of how Rubix's game is running with how the Sharders can't betray their own team, having it set it up like that. Thoughts? Oh, and I thought about the Male Channelers going insane thing and unfortunately I'll have to wait til the next WoT game to implement something like that. I have no real way to enforce the madness right now, and it would just make it unfair for people who signed up to be Male characters in this game if they happen to become Channelers. Next game though I plan on pulling out all the stops. With a Tainted Saidin, ter'angreals, gambling, bubbles of evil, you name it!
  6. Golems could totally be the Lifeless Statue Army from Warbreaker, with Precursor Golem being the main enabler for that that. If there's a 'Quick/annoyingform' for Parshendi, they could substitute as goblins. Planar Cleansing could be called The Everstorm. Unearth effects could be like making Lifeless, bringing them back from the graveyard for one use. Jasnah's soulcast blast could be a lightning bolt or even a straight up kill spell like terminate. I'll try and think of more cool things that could be cosmere-converted. Some possible dual-land color Cosmere Locations: W/G: ? W/R: White Sand W/B: Tranquine Halls? W/U: ? G/R: ? G/B: Hell's Forests G/U: Halledren R/B: Scadrial Ashmounts R/U: Reshi Isles B/U: ?
  7. Just letting people know there is a new faction in town. You may have heard of them: The Church of The Stick.
  8. Fellow Brethren of the Church of The Stick! For those unaware, deep in the bowels of the 17th Shard Forum, in the Guilds and Faction sub-forum, there have been many new Factions springing to life, spreading their Idol's Doctrines and marching to war. But WE know who the true Idol is. For he is Stick. And he is, and always will be a Stick. We know this divine, unwavering nature is to be reveled above all else. I have made a Call to Arms for my fellow kin of the Church to join me on the battlefield and spread the word of Stick!
  9. Fellow brethren of The Church of the Stick! Multiple Factions march to war, spread their own doctrines and establish their own truths! But we know who the True Idol is! Stick. In all his Glory. Who shall answer my call?
  10. O.o It already has been posted. Link here and the first post was edited with it as well. Also a blog on Sandersons Website. Basically Brandon saying he wants to have a cool mini-cube his fans could use and play with at signings and bunch of stuff like that using the new Conspiracy Draft set released. And then maybe gettings artists to help make him some alternate-art cards that could be used in a Mistborn "themed" deck. (Uses real Magic cards, with their same effects, just are titled and look all Mistborn style)
  11. Yes, Fain and the Corrupted have to use the highest level of manipulation to achieve their means for they don't get their own Kill options. And Corrupted Darkfriends get the Dual Win condition like the 17S in Rubix's game, so whatever comes for them first. It's their choice who they want to work for. But yes, if their Numbers were tied they'd have to keep going until one comes out on top. And the suggestion for Male Channelers going Mad does sound great. I'll start thinking of ways I could try and implement that. And yes, Ashiok, we would love to have you in this game! What's your name and occupation/story?
  12. Good question, I'll have to fix the wording. You can only use each Weave once. It was originally like the Mistborn role from the first few games, where their power was rolled for each Night, but with the change to Padan Fain's Corruption to making people lose their roles I wanted different possibilities as to how that could happen. Edit: Updated a couple things on the Main Post. I changed the wording of 'Aiel-Blooded' and the Earth-Skin Channeler Weave to read as: you get revealed in the write-up as surviving an attack or a lynch, but not your Role or Alignment. Just so people are aware they're supposed to read the same.
  13. I was actually going to take the initiative and do that myself for everyone last night... but there were a lot more than I thought. Most of them were like half-games or setting and theme discussions, with most of the actual Full Games being centered around the end of the thread. Which makes sense, since as we've gone along people have had more time to refine and hone their ideas into full-fledged games. But that makes it more difficult to judge sometimes which games are "full" as people were still bouncing ideas around and it was being tweaked. It could help if any of you have written up a full game in here, or you feel really comfortable with what you have, just go back and edit your post that has the game and mark it in Bold on the top of the post saying you want it linked. That could help Meta or I or whomever would then go through and do the Linking. Also, some levels of complexity are definitely fine for these Quick Fix games being suggested. It is hard to tell once you start adding stuff how that can affect the length of the game sometimes. You can definitely have more to your game than Tempus' bare-bones format. That is just the minimum shell for a game. Likewise, Rubix's game is obviously quite more than the average Quick Fix, and games definitely don't need to be as large or complex as that. Doesn't mean they can't, though. Whatever you as the GM feels comfortable running and the player feelings comfortable playing. With that said, if more people want to sign-up for Quick Fix GM'ing, the nature of those games will make that list move a lot faster so more people will ultimately be able to run games that way. Just because of how long the Main Games run the list has been getting full with a little bit of a waiting period, which is perfectly fine and to be expected. Quick Fix GM'ing can just be a nice practice run and let you try out some ideas sooner to see what may or may not work for you Main Game ideas.
  14. Sorry about that, Kasimir. ListTM Fixed. 1)Correct, those are the only ways for Role-Blocks to occur. I wanted there to be at least a few possible explanations for them, mostly for the Fain role so they couldn't just automatically assume/know if their failed target was the Forsaken. 2)Padan Fain's Corruption targets will be a hard set number given at the beginning of the game, based off the number of initial players. However they want to use their power afterwards is all up to them. Think of it like a Loaded Gun; once you use up all the bullets you can't reload it. Since Players lose their roles when they get Corrupted, Padan Fain will have to make some careful choices of who they target. On the flip side, since players know they can be targeted any time throughout the game by Padan Fain and will lose their Roles, they may not want to reveal what powers they have to anybody trusted. Just so they don't have to suddenly explain why they can't use their awesome Action Role anymore.
  15. Soaking wet and disgruntled, Magam sat around a small fire trying to dry himself off and recover in a random abandoned building. Seeking refuge from yesterday's highstorm had proved more difficult than he had originally anticipated and he had ended up having to run into an alleyway and climb up on a small ledge to ride it out, barely avoiding the stormwall as it struck. Stormwinds and ice cold water had buffeted him relentlessly with endless waves of debris slashing and lacerating him the entire night, leaving him weak and shivering when dawn had finally come. Storms, I swear I'm done with this odious city, he thought to himself as he huddled closer to the fire for warmth. Shinovar seems like it'd be nice this time of the year....
  16. ....So I've been secretly hoping this thread would get revived ever since Words of Radiance came out. However, they will all have to be in Spoiler Tags. That's all I got for now. But let's bring this thing back!
  17. A deep understanding of the series won't be too necessary for the game, I think. I tried to design it to be 'friendly' to those who haven't read all or any of the Books yet. Some of the terms I'm using are from maybe up to the end of the Second Book, but there's not really anything too spoiler-y and all the game mechanics are very similar to Meta's Original Game. Knowledge from the Books should really only come into play in people's RP, if they so wish. (Like Shivertongue's excellent RP post above), but that's all just extra. Some of my write-ups might include minor details or easter eggs, but the game will basically be around the time of just the First Book, completely disconnected with the story. If anybody else has any questions, comments, concerns, or feedback or anything feel free to share! Super pumped from the responses and the rate of sign-ups so far! Can't wait to get this thing running!
  18. Daes Dae’mar: The Great Game Game 6 has ended in a Villager Victory! The days of Tarmon Gai’dan are upon us! False Dragons walk the earth and raise their banner, men march to war, and Shadowspan have poured forth from The Blight and begun wreaking havoc throughout the land. The town of Drell’s Crossing is your home, even if it’s just a tiny village along the River Erinin on the outskirts of Braem’s Woods. Constant conflict with the Cairhiens have left you no stranger to Daes Dae’mar, the Game of Games. Can you put your skills to use and defend your town in it’s most dire hour? A band of Trollocs have been reported to be raiding nearby villages, and heading your way! Mayor Twim Cabalen has called for a group of volunteers to stay behind and defend the town. can he count on your help? But be warned! Not everybody has the Village’s best intentions in mind, and there will be those hiding secrets, and those working against us to ensure your demise. It is also your task to root out the Darkfriends and any other enemies and take them out, before they Eliminate you first! All sign-ups below are a binding contract that entitle you to defend the Town with your life! There are no loopholes or ways out of this save death, or fulfilling the deal to defend the town from the Trollocs. It's not Mayor Twims fault Padan Fain and Darkfriends had to get involved! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Villager:A regular, vanilla character. Who needs powers to be a hero? Darkfriend: A group of dedicated servants of evil. You and your small group have been given orders to infiltrate and destroy this town from the inside out. You get to conspire in a secret Doc with the other Darkfriends and the Forsaken. **They also have special rules if Corrupted. Forsaken: The Leader of the Darkfriends.Get to conspire with them in a Doc. When Viewed shows up as a 'Villager', or they can perform an additional Night Kill for the Darkfriends. If they perform the extra night kill, their actions can be Tracked the next day and any Viewings on them the night they perform the kill will reveal them as 'Forsaken'. Can not be Corrupted by Padan Fain. Wisdom: Has honed the powers of saving people to almost an instinct. Can target somebody once per night and protect them from one Night Kill. Can not target self. Wolfbrother: You feel the call of the Moon and your nocturnal brethren. Can target somebody to Hunt and Kill once per night. Viewer: Can see images and auras around people. Once per night can target somebody and find out their Role and Alignment Thief-taker: You can smell evil and find out past crimes. During the Day Cycle, you can target somebody and at the beginning of the next Night Cycle, you will find out who, if anybody, they targeted the Night Before. Whitecloak: As a Child of the Light, it is your duty to root out criminals. Once per night you can Detain a target. This prevents any Night Actions performed against the target, and prevents the target from performing any Night Actions. Can not target self. Dreamwalker: You have mastered the World of Dreams. At night you can submit an anonymous message for the GM to post in the write-up. As long as you live players can send PM's. Aiel-blooded: You may not look it, but you have hardened Aiel blood in your veins. You can survive one lynching or Night kill. The fact you survived an attack or lynching be revealed in the write-up, but not your alignment or role. Chaneller: A wildling user of the One Power. You can chose one of your Weaves to cast per Night Cycle. Once you use all 5 weaves you becomes Burned Out and show up as a regular Villager. You can only use each Weave once. Air- Hands of Air protect a target from Night Kill. Not yourself Fire – Hurl a Fireball at target, performing a Night Kill. Water – Cast Mask of Mirrors on a target at night, making them Untargetable for the Night. Earth – Use Earth to harden your skin, allowing you to negate any one possible Night Kill against you. Spirit – Lash out at somebody with a weave of Spirit, Role-Blocking their Night Action. Padan Fain: You carry with you the Taint of Shadar Logath. You can Corrupt up to X number of players throughout the game. (X based off of number of players) Corrupted players have their own Doc to communicate in. Padan Fain can not Corrupt the Forsaken, if they target them the action will appear to be Role-blocked. Fain also shows up as a regular villager when scanned. He’s tricky like that. *When players get Corrupted, they lose their Role and become a Vanilla Player **Darkfriends that get Corrupted are capable of winning as either a Darkfriend or a Corrupted. Town Mayor: During the day, the town can hold public elections to elect a Town Mayor. The Mayor's vote counts for two towards the lynch. They stay Mayor until a new one is elected or they die. Dragon's Fang: At night, all of the players without Power Roles (Vanilla villagers and vanilla Darkfriends) can send in orders to scrawl a Dragon's Fang on a players door. The player with the most votes for a Dragon's Fang has it appear on their door in the write-up. If there is a tie, no Dragon Fang gets scrawled on any doors. A villager with a Dragon Fang scrawled on their door has an automatic extra vote tallied onto any other votes for them at the results of the lynching. Villagers win if they eliminate all of the Darkfriends and Corrupted. Darkfriends win if they outnumber the other players. The Corrupted and Padan Fain win if they outnumber the other players. How Write-ups will work: Votes will be posted publicly in the thread with a list of who voted for whom, etc. Night event write-ups will work like this: -Wolfbrother kills will be obvious. (Wolves swarm the victim) -When Padan Fain converts somebody, it will be mentioned in the write-up, denoted with the appearance of the evil white fog, Mashadar.** -Darkfriend and Forsaken kills appear the same -Wisdom healing somebody is only mentioned if they actually save the Target from Death -Whitecloak, If somebody is Detained, it is shown in the write-up, but not who was Detained or who Detained somebody -Channelers Fireball will be revealed in the write-up if used, and the other powers depending on if they interacted with any other Roles. (If Hands of air actually save somebody, Earth Skin will be written up the same way as Aiel-Blooded, Spirit and Water Actions won’t be revealed in write-up) -If your Action gets Role-blocked or doesn’t go through, it won’t be revealed in the write-up and you will just be informed your Action was ‘unsuccessful”. General Mafia Rules in effect.. Each player is assigned a Role and Alignment at the beginning of the Game, and then they can post Votes in the thread during the Day Cycle, and send in any Role Actions whenever appropriate. The player with the most Votes tallied against them is Lynched at the end of the Day Cycle.. Day Cycles will be 48hours long, and Night Cycles will end whenever all Night Actions are sent in, or up to 48 hours if somebody asks for an extension. If you chose not to use your Action for the Night, still send a PM declaring your action to be “None”. Let the Sign-ups begin! They'll last for about a week, and I'll be looking for at least 25 players. The more the merrier, though. If you have any questions feel free to ask! 19. Yeah, looks like Peter is just trying to get us all hyped up with speculation about some upcoming announcement. So let the crazy theories begin! (In increasing order of craziness) 1)We know Brandon often plays Magic with his fans at random card stores and places, so he will now be hosting a tournament for his fans! First place winner will get an appearance in one of his upcoming books! or 2)Brandon Sanderson will be announced to be a story-writer for one of the upcoming Magic: The Gather Novels! (thus influencing the cards) or, even better yet, 3)Wizards of the Coast will be working with Brandon Sanderson and releasing The Cosmere Cube! The ultimate Draft set designed and tested by Brandon Sanderson and his most loyal fans! /tinfoil hat.
  20. Well, in Game 4 of the Sanderson Elimination, it was pretty awesome being killed by an Awakened Sword named Cuddles. Some of my favorite weapons from fantasies. Games of Thrones: Needle Longclaw Oathkeeper (I guess Kingdom Hearts works as well with this one) Wheel of Time Ashandarei Justice Mah'alleinir The Night Angel Trilogy Retribution The Curoch Kingkiller Chronicle Folly and then of course everybody's favorite Blade ever.... Nightblood!
  21. Smoke poured forth from the ruined sections of town, the riots and the flames that followed were slowly consuming the whole of Kholinar. Several bodies had been found and identified earlier in the day, although Magam had no idea what had made those two corpses any special. “Slaughter in the streets,” he mused to himself. “Sounds like a good enough description as any.” Stormwardens had predicted a Highstorm to land by nightfall, causing civilians and rioters alike to hide indoors and seek refuge, leaving Magam to roam the streets without interruption. Since I'm going to be stuck with the same group of people for the whole night, might as well stretch my legs while I can, he thought. Singing a merry tune to himself, he set out to explore the ruined city while there was still time.
  22. A sub-forum sub-forum?! That's some Inception level stuff right there. I think that would actually be a question for the Admins. O.o
  23. I was wondering how long it would take us to start branching out into Non-Sanderson works. I mean, since it's still new to this Forum, we haven't even explored all possible Sanderson worlds yet, and there's still tons of different possible settings and themes to chose from each world. Eventually, I imagine we'll need to branch out, but for now, we still have tons of possibilities to explore with Sanderson.
  24. Very nice! That looks like it'd be a very fun game to play. Does the Lord of the House's House Action count as that person's Night Action? Maybe have one of the House's Powers be a Role-block type ability? I was going to suggest having the House Power ability be like a Jack-of-all-Trades type role, where all the Houses start off with multiple possible different actions to use, and they can only use each one once, and once they use all of them they're out. So it gives some sort of more diversity in what the Lord of the House can do each night. But, since book-wise, each Noble Family does have it's own, unique specialty so that does work out well how you have it set-up. Is the Kandra just dependent on the number of players, and will they be informed at the start of the game if they're in the game or not? And can there be multiple Kandra? (You could of course RAFO this, if you're trying to keep it a surprise)
  25. Magam sat hunched over a table, the darkened room illuminated by the dual uneven glow of his fire-lantern and the fires outside. The fires in town had so far been contained to certain sections of Kholinar, it's natural shape and stone structures preventing the flames from spreading too much. But the condensed layout of the streets, with all of it's crammed streets and criss-crossing alleyways, more than just heat and smoke poured from the engulfed quarters. Even though it was only the Second Day into the riots, officially, Magam couldn't help but revel in the madness. He had once heard somebody say that 'Some men just want to watch the world burn.' And he had wholeheartedly disagreed with the statement. 'Not just some men,' he had replied. 'Just me.' He sighed and sat up straight, cracking his back by twisting around in the chair. He had been reading in the dim, uneven light for hours now and felt nothing but frustration. He had been told that Jasnah Kholin was Roshar's greatest heretic and scientific thinker. She was revered and reviled for her staunch beliefs everywhere she went, and despite her firm rejections of Vorinism's teachings, had still maintained the respect to keep her a prominent figure in Alethi politics. Needless to say he was disappointed when he had broken into her former quarters in th to 'borrow' her books and notes, and had found nothing but the same conclusions he had already made as a child. There was nothing insightful or expansive, just ramblings and rants against the church. He shook his head. When he had come across the section of her notes involving children's tales, he had been rather surprised. For someone to reject Vorinism and the Almighty, yet to spend their time and efforts pursuing myths about Voidbringers.... Maybe she wasn't as bright as some people said she was, Magam thought, laughing at his own pun. "This was a waste of time," he declared, and reached over to his lantern, opening it up all the way to let the most amount of light out. But to also give the flame the most exposure. He ripped a page out of one of Jasnah's notebooks and twisted it up before holding it to the flame. The old parchment ignited immediately, and he tossed it onto a pile of loose pages he had gathered earlier. He walked out of the room, hearing the whoosh of the fire as it jumped from the desk to the curtains hanging over by the nearby window. He could feel it's heat on his back as it spread. At least the world will now be full of that derivative garbage, Magam thought gladly as he walked away, feeling a smile on his face for the first time all afternoon. At least the day wasn't a total waste.
