  1. Huh. Didn't know who that was, but a quick Google search informed me. Never read Tale of Two Cities, but I gotta say, wow. Gammer is pretty close to Madame Dafarge. At least with the whole just chilling and knitting thing. Just maybe not as spiteful. Madame Dafarge is labeled as a villain, so I don't want to be associated with that. I swear I'm a nice old lady! I at first said I wanted to be a cross between Cadsuane and lady Olyena, but yeah, I definitely think I've unknowingly come across as that Madame Dafarge. I'm cool with that, though.
  2. The crowd had riled itself up into a frenzy and had almost murdered one of Gammer's fellow Halledrens, not that she felt any particular kinship with any of her countrymen, but then cries against the Idrians also got one of their numbers hanged. It was of course, a very interesting development of events. Gammer was content on still sitting quietly, observing all the action as it unfolded. It was probably a good thing that nobody had died, she reckoned. It was one less body that a lifeless could made from. Gammer might have been from Halledren but it didn't mean that she had to feel comfortable around those colour-cursed things. Not that Awakened straw-men were much more natural. She sighed and just bowed her head and continued her embroidery. It still had a long way to go until completion.
  3. Thank you guys. Those suggestions really helpful. And yeah, the 3rd level of things is what really screwed me up on the balancing. Because I had everything worked out for two, but then when I decided to try adding in Duralumin and Nicrosil, that's when things got whacky. I did have those as the only way to 3+ super-flare at first, and it looks like I'll take it back down to that. That would make things more fair, I think. If I do keep the 3+ super-flares from Duralumin and Nicrobursting, do you think I have the Metals balanced out enough? Would 1 or 2 metallurgists in the game, and with the replenishing of metals every other write-up be enough, do you think? I don't want people to constantly be running out, but also don't want them being able to constantly just Flare their metals (unless they get help from a Metallurgist)
  4. Gammer watched as the gathering crowd started working itself, calling for blood. "Blood feeds blood. Blood calls Blood. Blood is, and Blood was, and Blood shall ever be." she muttered to herself. Give the folks a taste of red, and they didn't stop until they saw more. They were like those wild, charging bulls that those folk liked to play around with while waving silly, red handkerchiefs. The Bulls would fall for the Dancer's tricks every time, and go blindly charging in, only to be outmaneuvered in the nick of time and made a fool of. But even sometimes the Dancer will misstep and get gored on the horns of their prey. Gammer was neither Bull nor Dancer. She was the Watcher. She knew the game that was being played, and the dangers it posed both sides. Or all three, in this situation. So she would sit and wait just a little longer still. Although if those foolish Idrians kept calling for blood, she would have no choice but to defend her countrymen. Such was the way of Halledren politics.
  5. Well this game is off to a pretty great start. I think things should be very interesting from here on out. Nicely done, Claincy! Since Clan's Nalthis game just kind of raised the bar.... I've been taking another look at my Flaring Metal game, since besides a few small things, I have most of my WoT game ready to go. I definitely ran into quite a few balancing problems in the Flaring game, though, when I tried to add in a few other things. What do you guys think? I dunno. With the 3+ vial effects, I feel like things are just getting too crazy. I could probably just nix the Duralumin and nicrobursters. But I want to keep leechers, because that's a nice role-blocker. But I feel like powers might be getting too strong, and it might not be fun for any regular villagers in a game like this. They would definitely need to out-number the number of people with Roles, so that would have to be a huge game to pull off anyway.
  6. Yeah, that was basically a Peter answer. Which is to say entirely unhelpful Basically still have no idea who is really suspicious at all or anything. I guess it'd make sense for me to try voting for some sort of Idrian, but I dunno. Also, I wouldn't exactly recommend revealing your roles to just anybody quite yet. I don't even think we have a solid guess of the number of Kahn Pahl on each side.
  7. Heh, I have been suspiciously quiet so far this game, at least in comparison to my activity from other games. But for Gammer, it's been a perfectly normal level of activity. Mostly I'm still just trying to figure out my characters RP and all the game mechanics and whatnot. Don't wanna start posting without having too much to actually say just yet. Gammer sat at her usual spot, unsurprised at the flux of activity since the murder. What else would be the outcome when a bunch of pompous Idrians and ostentatious Hellandrans tried to meet together? She still didn't know how she could be of any help, it was still too early to have anything definite to go off of. She had heard some nearby people questioning her whereabouts, but she didn't raise any attention to herself. Not yet. Bet you were looking for a hidden message So she stayed where she was, on her bench, resting in the shade and embroidering. A picture was beginning to emerge from the flowing shapes and shades of red colours that were dominating the image. This was going to be a story of blood.
  8. I think everybody knows my stance on these Elimination games. The more the better. But we might need a few more consistent, or a reliable number of random people per game to be able to successfully pull of reliably continuous games. It would be lame if somebody has what they deem a non-important role in one game but a time intensive role in another game, they may neglect the first game and even borderline being an inactive player. Of course that's only a possibility, but it is something that could happen with multiple players in multiple games at the same time. I'm perfectly okay with games going one-at-a-time for now, but I am definitely open to the possibility for multiple games happening at the same time eventually, once we get enough players. And that's when multiple GMs start working together and make an all-encompassing game that uses past players and themes from all the games that have already happened. An Elimination Cosmere, if you would.
  9. What is a Vanisher?

  10. I dunno. I absolutely love me some Brandon Sanderson. But his Cosmere doesn't spoil anything else for me or anything like that. He has a completely different style than all of the other big name authors out there right now. I love me some GRRM, Rothfuss, Scott Lynch, Joe Abercrombie, Brent Weeks, Robert Jordan, etc. Not a single one of these series take anything else away from me enjoying the others. Each author has their own unique prose and style and it's not really right to compare them. I mean, sure. You can just not enjoy GRRM or Rothfuss just because you happen to not like their books, but I don't think Sanderson's success should be the determining factor on whether you like them or not. Or they shouldn't be the only reference point you have when deciding to read or enjoy something.
  11. I was gonna say. I don't mind Meta GM'ing games in the mean time or in-between other games. You do a fantastic job as GM, as far as I'm concerned. (You know, my whole 3 games worth of experience in the matter). I also wouldn't mind if the game got big enough to the point of having two smaller games going on at once, instead of one huge, long game. Would be more interesting for the people who don't play and just come and browse what's going on. (Yeah, we see you there, lurking. So go ahead and sign-up already!)
  12. Meta is so right, though. I now fully understand just how powerful/deadly PM Trusts can be in these types of games. As shown in the last game, my trust doesn't come cheap, nowadays. How naive I was, in the first game, asking Bartbug, "are you sure you're the Seeker?" lol. This game will be the best, I think, since we've now had three examples of how devious/evil we all can be. But yeah. Watch out for that Wilson, this game. Calamity hath no fury like she does. (And it's funny, of all the people Meta quoted for that... I've been on a team with half of those people each game. I honestly will be surprised if a single person believes anything I ever say in these games from here on out.
  13. "Stick" will be the highest ever possible Rep level. And Not even Brandon has enough upvotes for it.
  14. Anyone can also feel free to use any Wheel of Time ideas or the Flaring Metals one. I want to do that one, but I think I'll want a little GM experience first before I try that one. With the right balances, it could be really cool, I think.
  15. Yeah, this game will be fun. I've teamed up with, betrayed, and been betrayed by almost half the people participating in this game. Oh, and I'm okay with the game starting at any time/any length of cycles. Whatever works best for everybody.
  16. After all these years... Teddy Roosevelt's words finally make sense. "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." He must have been some sort of prophet...
  17. Someone, quick. We must get enough breaths to Awaken the Stick in all his glory.
  18. I shall hence forth call April 1st Hoid's Day. He seems to enjoy pulling pranks.

  19. Gammer had still so far avoided any interaction with any of the exotic folks that had started gathering. Apparently some high-ups were planning some sort of meeting. She could almost smell the set-up that was coming. But she was starting to get on in her years, and wasn't sure how much help she could actually be this time around. She thought she had recognized a few old friends out in the milling crowd, but that was surely just a sign her mind was starting to go. She would sit back and wait just a little bit longer. The best way to get through this one was to keep quiet and keep her head down. Wait and see what happened first. So Gammer just stayed seated on her bench, comfortably lounging in the shade, enjoying the weather and the sights, still embroidering. The picture was still unformed, the story not yet started. But Gammer knew in her heart it was already shaping up to be grand indeed.
  20. Wow, thank you, everybody! It's always nice to hear good praise like this, very encouraging. I'm glad you enjoyed those minor details, like some of the characters backgrounds and stuff like that. I do believe I was purposely re-reading Mistborn at the time of writing this, so I had a lot of nice in-book references for fashion and locations, etc. And yeah, I do think I was planning on keeping it mostly my narrative through the lynches. actually, thinking about it, I think I started reading Name of the Wind, and that's what interrupted me. This was right at the end of a minor writing spree I finally managed to get going, but yeah. Rothfuss happened. I dunno, I'm weird when I start to try writing. I'll try and get a few paragraphs out, and either it starts to flow or it doesn't. I definitely am going to go back and review the Game 1 thread and try and get back in-touch with the game and chain of events.
  21. Yeah, definitely. It helped in the Office writer doc I was writing it up in, because Meta's write-ups were different text style, and I was mostly just adding each one in as a place-holder more or less, to let me know where in the game I was at. I did notice when I copied it over all the text turned the same, and it is really hard to tell when the write-ups ends and Gambles narrative begins. But thank you for the great feedback! I really don't know why I stopped writing this, for whatever reason, and with a few quick fixes this story could be back on track and ready to roll.
  22. Question: Are Lifeless made automatically when someone sends in that action, or will someone need a dead body to use? Because that'd be an interesting way to keep killed off players active/interested in the game. and maybe limit how many lifeless can be made in the game.
  23. I had the jabberwocky poem worked up in both Mr. T's code and my own Code, but to save space because Maw needed room for the Aons, I let him cut out the jabberwocky poem. I decided to keep the Dark Tower one so I could use the 'Dad-a-chum, dad-a-chee?" thing to let you know you had the key. Also, I just posted what I had written up from the first game. Don't really know why I stopped. But here it is, left off right in the middle of Day 2. Someone else can feel free to tackle Games 2 and this one.
  24. So, back after the end of the First Game of Sanderson Elimination, I said I would work on a story for it, since it seemed like good enough material. I eventually got sidetracked and stopped after coming across a few difficulties, like trying to main a balance between story and exposition and all that. I was planning on showing it to some friends as well, who haven't read Mistborn or anything at all, so I tried explaining allomancy and Scadrial and all that, and I dunno. My words stopped feeling right. But I dunno, here it is. I think those are notes I was making up for character descriptions and mannerisms (with some artistic liberties taken. I really hope I don't offend anybody by how I portrayed them But yeah. That's what I had. Please let me know of any corrections/suggestions/criticisms, anything. Edit: Also, sorry for any problems with paragraph inconsistency. Darn forums not copying over tab presses. :/
  25. O.o Wow I totally forgot about that, lol! Um. Looking at it, I had about 12kish words worked up and was about through the middle of the second day, but then I started getting stuck on things. Because I was going to show it to a few friends who weren't familiar with the Mistborn world, I started having to take him and explain the Allomantic powers and give some exposition for the world of Scadrial... and yeah. So I got stuck. Then the second game started. If you guys want I could go and post what I did have done in the Creative Writing section. Note: It is obviously a super rough draft and all that jazz.
