My vote and voicing suspicions of Cen and Sart aren't anything definite. I just figured I'd at least get some votes/discussion going. And I figure looking at inactives first is our best choice, right now. But other than that, I really got nothing. :/

Gamene stepped back inside to warm herself by the small fire burning in the hearth in the corner, trying to get that Winter chill out of her bones. And she had only been outside for a few moments to survey the grizzly scene everyone had woken to. Gamene had always thought life was so unfair, everybody she had ever met had always perfectly been described by their name. Aan- Truthful. Dao- Stable. Whenever someone was assigned an Aon-based name, they would always live up to those expectations. But not Gamene. Oh, she tried to be clever, but who could honestly be witty all of the time? That wasn't her. She liked to go outside and play, to roughhouse around. She didn't mind getting dirty or scraped up. Unfortunately that had earned her a reputation as a Tomboy back at home, but she didn't care. None of that mattered now. She was still cursing herself from coming on this blasted trip. She thought running away to a Mountainy-trade post would offer fun and adventure! But now she had to face the grim realities of life.... Nobody was going to believe this, back home. If she even survived, that was.

Gammer's embroidery lay in her lap, her work interrupted by Aodan, and the grand music being produced from the lute. I bet Perfect Pitch helps with that, Gammer thought to herself. She may not have had Perfect Pitch, but she could still appreciate the sad, lamenting tune Aodan was playing. "What about Cen?" Gammer asked quietly, during a quiet lull in the music. Gammer was surprised she even spoke, herself. But the pause demanded it, that something fill in the silence, to fill the void left by the music. But now that she spoke, she continued on. "Has anybody seen that loremonger around lately? Last I saw of him, he was yelling at the sky, calling it a liar. Clearly a deranged fellow. I also law saw Sart, the Artist around that same time, but he seemed more depressed than dangerous...." Gammer trailed off, letting Aodan being playing his music again. She finally began to understand, exactly, what kind of tune he was playing. Edit: Retracted vote for Cen.

Gammer sighed a breath of relief. She had survived the night, although Dyrii had been apparently discovered on his mission and sent to the Lifeless Barracks. It was odd. Gammer now almost kind of missed the smell of the Ichor-alcohol, it was a comforting smell when you know you were protected with it around. Whether it be by the Pahn Kahl or the Idrian Monk and his thugs, Gammer knew she only had a matter of time left. Was it enough to finish the Embroidery? She stitched Asgren's name full of red blood, the noose closed to denote his guilt of being a Pahn Kahl. But how many more were out there? Gammer had her few suspicions, but she had been wrong so many times before. She was beginning to lose her confidence. After all the years, when her eye-sight started fading, she didn't mind. She still had her pride. When her bones became old and frail, she didn't care. She still had her resolve. She may have lost her agility and nimbleness of youth, but her mind had been honed to a razor's edge, as sharp as ever. But now she full of doubt. She sighed and went back to stitching, realizing she was running low on red colored fabric yet again. How much more blood was to be shed before this was over?

Google Hangout w/ Brian McClellan & Brandon Sanderson
Gamma Fiend replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
Oops, I didn't clarify in my post, I was asking for questions specifically for Brian McClellan. I'm not entirely sure if I can watch the Google Hangout live or not, but I should be for sure meeting McClellan when he visits. But that question of Future Technology magic systems is a good one, I definitely want to ask more questions along those lines. -
Gammer was a darkened silhouette, illuminated by the fiery glow of the inferno, working away on her embroidery by the fire's light. She had fled her house earlier from the stench of Ichor alcohol to get fresh air, only to now be coughing on smoke and tasting ashes in the wind. But still she stitched. She tried to capture the majestic image of the dancing flames, the clouds of black smoke billowing off of the pyre and into the flame-cast sky, but ever since she became Drab she couldn't work the colors right. She had thought the extra protection would have been worth it, but who knew what terrors the night held? She still was deft enough and was able to stitch in Elo's name, blackened with soot from the fire he helped start, into the embroidery. Gammer was so absorbed in her thoughts that she slipped and pricked herself with the needle. She stopped and stared, amazed at the swelling bead of dull red blood on her fingertip. How many years had it been since she was careless enough to do that? Her fingers were calloused enough from the years of embroidering that she didn't feel the pain, but the shock of her clumsiness hurt more than anything else. She sighed and wished Dyrii would hurry back from whatever task she had been forced to send him on for the night. She didn't like the stink of Ichor-alcohol, but she hated the thought of her own death. Edited: Added in bold, as per request.

I have been waiting to try and sign-up for this game because I'm alive in the other one and have participated in all of the other games as well. So I definitely want to make sure anybody who hasn't had the chance to play a game or isn't actually in one right now has the chance to sign-up first. So, I want to say count me in, but only if there's not enough other people who want to join in before the deadline. Oh, and good thing I came up with my Aon-based name just in case we did a Sel world elimination. Meet Gamene.

Well this vote is pretty definitive. Unless there's some time restraints on your end preventing it,would be possibly be able to have the Day Cycle end early with the Lynch results? I don't think anyone would mind. (except maybe Elo)

Gammer decided she had had enough. The bunnies were plaguing the town, and when absentmindedly embroidering, she realized she had acidentally started to stitch a rabbit into the image. "I've had enough of this nonsense!" She stormed out into the other room, where Dyrii's fresh Lifeless corpse was standing watch, protecting her. The thing reeked of Ichor-alcohol and the mixture of various perfumes and colognes she had tossed on it to cover the stench. She placed a club in the lifeless' hand, "Dyrii, dear. It's rabbit season." I could almost picture the Looney Toons spin-off.

Gammer was working late into the night, staying up and working on her embroidery by candlelight. Things had settled down from earlier with all the accusations flying around, and most of the villagers decided to go hunt for Elo throughout the town. Gammer knew her old bones couldn't keep up, so she went home to do what she did best; she told a story. The embroidery's design was radiating out from the center, two olive branches over-lapping to represent the Idrians the Halledrens attempted negotiations. The Halledrens depicted as colorful and vibrant, the Idrians, more reserved and drab. Some of the branches were barbed, however, and concealing daggers and hangman's nooses, with dark shadowy figures wielding them. The Pahn Kahl. The design flowed outward in levels, each representing a different day and the events that transpired. The hanged were put on the gallows, those that had voted for them pointing towards them and condemning them, those that didn't looking away. The names of the villagers were color-coded accordingly as well, each one properly stitched accordingly. Red for deceased, filled in to denote guilt, or outlined to represent spilled innocent blood. The Returned had a whole array of colors in a swirling aura around their name, to indicate their Divine Breath. Yes, Gammer had told the whole story; so far. But she still feared what would happen next.

Awesome! We'll come out and represent the 17Shard Fandom for him! So... anybody have any questions? I should probably hurry up my reread to get ready for the event.... -
Oh, I don't care at all. I wasn't offended or upset or anything. But I had to play Gammer's hand at RP. She's too much of a Cadsuane to take a sword-to-the-heart threat laying down. And I can also completely understand coming in here after some more intense, violent type RP games all night and it being a little hard to adjust to the tone of the Forums. That can be a problem for me sometimes, too. But that's also the charm I like about this Forum, where everything is kept pretty casual and generally non-hostile. And if anything does happen, all it takes is an apology and an upvote, and everything is okay after that. No hard feelings. I told you all that Gammer was quite brash.
-
Never before in her life had Gammer felt so offended. The mere audacity of these punks, speaking with such disrespect to their elders like that. Gammer remembered if she ever spoke like that as a child, she would have been yoked up and had her hide tanned the colours of a deep, dark sunset faster than she could say, "Colours". Why do these fools insist on public declarations? Have they no tact or discrepancy? No. Gammer was not liking the path this Tyrannical Monk and so-called team of thugs were taking to get results. "Some of you are Idrian, so I didn't expect you to know better. But those Halledrens among you, I'm ashamed. No wonder you live here instead of the Halledren courts. The politics there would eat you all alive. If you must know, last night I spent my Breath on making Dyrii's corpse a Lifeless. An old lady needs protection in these dangerous times, as is clear when you let your young up-jumps threaten old ladies." She said, nodding towards Alan who was still glaring at her menacingly. "When I spoke up against your 'grand plans' from yesterday, it wasn't against the idea of people becoming Drab, or letting Aodan know what we're doing. I said I didn't want him having all of our Breaths, in case of death, or him stealing all of our power away. So I made myself Drab, as you requested. And I secretly told Aodan what I was doing. Because my years have taught me a thing or two about discretion. So now you have your information, and made me put my secrets out into the open. I hope the Police State is worth it when you've rooted the Pahn Kahl out. Just pray to the God King you don't become worse than them" She spat before she walked off, fuming slightly after having being forced to reveal so much like that. There was work to be done on the embroidery. OOC: Just some more RP to push along the Idrian/Halledren division. As I've said, Aodan already knows what I've done with my breath. I've revealed I made the Lifeless and am Drab to the PK also, taking out their list of potential targets. And as for my voting record, I honestly can't remember back the first few days. But I'll go and start dragging that up and will post my reasonings for you, if you want. Even though I'm pretty sure they're right in with the posts, anyway. Edit 2: Voting record: Day 1, no vote. No information. Day 2: Voted for Swimim because a bunch of votes came out of nowhere for Chide, who hadn't even really posted yet. But that was to tie the vote up. Day 3: I believe I voted for Cog, to get him talking, then Nepene because I wasn't aware he was working with Aodan at the time, apparently, and then Bart, because of his plan I disagreed with. So I guess that makes me evil? edit 3: I only had One Breath. I wasn't aware you could make Strawmen and Ropes with only 1. Making a Lifeless was the only choice I had really, without completely dis-empowering myself. And since I'm being threatened to be killed tonight by the good guys, of all people, it looks like making a Lifeless was the right choice. Edit 4: OOC: Just to make sure we're all good, I am not personally offended or emotionally hurt or anything. Apologies for any scathing tone there may have been, but that was just me letting Gammer run rampant. Thorns are prickly by nature, and when picked, will sting back. I really can't wait to laugh at all of you when you kill me, an innocent. Gamut may have made a few mistakes, but he was never this reckless.
-
Um, I'm not sure how one "proves" their innocence, exactly. That's the point of the game, anybody can say or claim anything. You're the ones with the Spies and Strawmen. I have let Aodan know everything I've done in the game so far, I'm obviously not going to reveal what I've done publicly, but if Aodan or anybody else that has been directly verified by him has any questions feel free to PM and ask me. I guess the only way to actually prove anything is to let you guys Seek me or Lynch me. So your call.

Gammer woke in the morning to chaos. A Pahn Kahl discovered and murdered and a returned coerced into giving their breath away? And on top of it all, Aodan goes ahead and ruins any chance to gain information by blurting out his next guaranteed suspect. Shouldn't he have just cast suspicion on him and seen who jumps into to defend him or deflect votes away from him? Gammer thought to herself, for that's what she knew she would have done. But the cow's already been milked, so no use in letting the cream spoil. Gammer picked up her embroidery and began the red stitching to fill in Elo's name with. There were supposed to be hidden images in the red, filled in with subtle details of lighter and darker hues or red contrasting each other, but since Gammer had become a Drab again, she just couldn't make the colours work right. She instead ended up on fixing a secure, tight noose around his name, closed off to represent justice served. Gammer wouldn't let her doubts of where all of these events were leading cloud her mind while she worked. But she couldn't help the nagging thoughts that this was the push the Idrians needed for control. A Monk with uncontested power, backed by Returned and mercenaries to protect him? She knew it was necessary to root out the Pahn Kahl, but once this was done, would he relinquish the power? OOC: Gammer's doubts are my way of saying I realized my mistake after last game of what I did wrong in revealing my information like that at the beginning of the cycle. It takes away any possible information that can be gained by having people defend that person if you just cast a vote in suspicion against them, instead of just immediately revealing them. And then also, since we've now got at least 3 of the PK, the game has to at least be almost the halfway point, so I figured I'd do some RP leading up to the Post-game Negotiations.

Very well put. Whether people enjoy the series or not, it basically is the Standard for Epic Fantasy now. In comparison to some of the newer fantasies, yes, WoT is a bit 'slower', especially in the beginning. But hey, it's no where near as bad as beginning chapters just rambling on about Hobbits and Hobbit politics. The Wheel of Time really is a fantastic and exciting series, you just have to expect a little bit more than non-stop action or endless magic fights. But, it all just comes down to personal tastes, I suppose.

Meh, don't feel bad. If anybody started a "I don't like Kaladin" thread, all of his fans would come out of the wood works and compare him to the horrible Shallan in how awesome he is. I agree that I don't 'like' her as a character as much, compared to some of the other people. But I'll wait and see a few more books before I make any final judgements. Just as long as she doesn't start wearing a braid and tugging on it, we should be fine though.

It had been a long, tough day for Gammer. And all of the residents of the town, for that matter. The debates had raged on for countless hours, the sun hanging high in the sky and refusing to set until a decision had been made. Even Gammer herself had joined in the planning and bickering, her embroidery laying forgotten on the floor for some time. But eventually decisions had to be made. While it seemed like the plan to empower Aodan was put on the back-burner for now, tough decisions still had to be made. Yet another Returned had revealed themselves, this time it was Wyrm, and Grim went to the gallows without objection. Yes, there was much work to be done still. Gammer sat alone in her room, stitching away furiously at her embroidery, making up for lost work. Wyrm's name was now embellished with an extra swirl of colors and added emphasis in colours around the letters, to match the design around Aili's name. Grim's name was decorated with a noose, his blood spilling out around his name to declare his innocence, unlike Jeo's name. Gammer noticed she was beginning to run out of red thread, which wasn't surprising. She knew she had to restock on the color soon, she was going to be needing it.

Eh, the Wheel of Time is a little bit more than just "farmboy turned hero". It starts of mostly focusing on Rand, because he's the main character. Where The Eye of the World starts off seeming like 'the typical' set-up, it quickly becomes so much more than that. If you can't get through it, and it really is that unbearable for you, I don't really know what to say. I would not recommend jumping forward books, though. I really don't see how that would make anything better, for you. You would just drop in the middle of things, with a whole cast of characters that you'd have no idea who they are or what they're doing, you'd be in unknown locations, and generally would most likely just be left feeling lost and even more disconnected from the story. Either you like it or you don't, but there are no shortcuts for this one, unfortunately. Remember, Journey before Destination. The best parts of the Wheel of Time aren't the action and fighting scenes where magic is just being flung around. It's the world-building, the small subtle details that paint the grand scope of things. And yes, those beginning chapters in The Two Rivers are actually quite important. It shows you where Rand comes from, and how that influences the man he becomes.

Fullmetal Alchemist and Stormlight Archive
Gamma Fiend replied to Laryna's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Not true at all. I finished the FMA years ago when it first ended, way before I ever even heard of Brandon Sanderson or read the Wheel of Time, even. I didn't compare the manga to anything else when I decided I didn't like the ending that much. I just didn't like it that much. I don't like 'one chapter shock factors', where some crazy thing happens one chapter, just to immediately be reversed the next chapter. *Unless it has a point for future plot use. I know this comes off sounding harsh, but I really did love the building of the series and all the rising action. The characters are mostly great, the magic is superb, even the world is pretty fun and cool. But the ending to me, it just seemed - after their like 9th year or so, you could tell they were just trying to get it done and over with. FMAB really still is one of my favorite animes, and I'll still watch it every now and then. But I do not judge FMA in comparison to shows or forms of media, especially fantasy novels since those are completely different beasts entirely. -

Also, my accusation of Nepene was pretty weak, earlier. But Bartbugs insistence on this plan that will almost guaranteed backfire on the villagers is pretty darn suspicious. I'll admit, I don't know what we should do moving forward, exactly. But plotting about it publicly isn't the way to go. Edit: Colours! I forgot the colours!
-
Ah, well those clarifications actually make sense. See, I did state in my post I might misunderstand the rules, and it turns out I did. I've never had more than one breath the entire game, and never expected to get any other breaths, really, so I really only grazed all the higher power Heightenings. I thought the Awakened Swords were able to surpass any defenses, since they contained so much Investiture. And the not-stealing Breaths does make sense, another bad assumption on my part. Edit: Had this top part written first, and then saw Claincy's clarification so wrote this below. I guess I can't complain too much, since this is basically the same tactic I used last game, once I was verified to everybody. But this will almost completely unempower all the players who aren't PK, Aodan, and Aili, for as long as they stay alive. And with Claincy's clarification of guaranteed unblockable death from the Awakened Sword, I re-assert this is a bad idea. Even if the PK can't get all of our Breaths, we'll all be left without any or any further protection going forward. Even if Aodan gets returned, we still would lose all of our Breaths, I assume. That is not worth the gamble, in my opinion. Go ahead and lynch me if you want to for it, though.
-
Oh yes. Because when we now know the PK can (most likely) now make multiple kills a night, one of them basically unblockable, let's publicly put all of our eggs in one basket. (Hope ya'll like the holiday themed pun) Maybe I'm reading the rules wrong, but I'm almost positive Aodan or Aili are being taken out tonight, or very soonish. So putting all, or even a majority, of all of our breaths into them, while that would be a good idea if we could play it out and have them directing our movements, I think ultimately will backfire when we hand the PK our collective Breaths. I'm changing my vote to Nepene for now. I'm not exactly sure when he became the plan-layer, but his assumptions about what the PK have done so far doesn't seem like guess work. While yes, that could very well be what they've done. He seems very positive that that's what the case is. And I know I'm probably gonna get heat or some more votes shot back at me for disagreeing with the plan, but I really don't think this is a good idea. Not once it's all been declared so publicly, like this. And if your plan is to publicly state something just so you can trick them, then me disagreeing with that doesn't screw that up anyway.
-
"Phaw!" Gammer exclaimed at Cog's challenge. "You come out here sounding all fancy and talking about complexity and precision, but you fail to back up your arguments. You say Wyrm or Grim have connections to the Pahn Kahl, but how? What exactly has Elo said/done in his rampages that benefit them? And how has Thomas been cleared, exactly, also? A clockmaker knows that you can talk about wheels and gears all you want, but at the end of the day your clock is either going to work or it isn't. You just need to give it the right guts. And that's what your accusations are missing, Cog. Guts." OOC: Well, you did kind of stare Gammer down. Any brashness/confrontational tone in the RP is of course just Gammer being herself. But this is my way of saying I'm unconvinced, Cog. You may very well have some decent suspects, but you're going to need to back it up. I mostly just threw your name out there in Red because you taught us the best way to get people talking was to vote for them, and I was just curious as to why you weren't as active since Aodan vouched for you.
