  1. Bah, okay, just woke up and hopefully will have some more time to write up a proper defense before I get lynched because I was working/sleeping. >.> Is that honestly the only suspicions people have of me? Because I've been 'hiding in the shadows' (AKA, spending my only actual hour or two of free time every day actually getting on here when I can). Because why are we ignoring Shallan and the whole Assassination Bid? I honestly think it was a bluff, that was apparently properly called out by Leif. Shallan made it such a big deal in thread and caboose that she was for SURE going for the Assassination plot. But then she didn't. I'm thinking it was some sort of bluff, to try and trick people into bidding more for it and potentially having us waste more coin. Now, not only was it the bluff of the Assassination that threw me. It was the fact she was declaring she was for sure going after Jain with it, but last cycle in the Caboose, she also still voted for Jain as well. So: Why does the same target need to be Assassinated and Role-blocked? Unless of course that target really wasn't being assassinated. (As we all know now). If I've been so suspicious, why not throw a vote on me in the Caboose last cycle as well?
  2. "Ah, Lord Hadrian!" Gamic exclaimed as he greeted the rustic house lord in his foyer. He had actually been rather surprised when Find had told him who he had found at the door, waiting with an arm full of potatoes. "Just the man I wanted to see, come, sit down!" He offered the man a glass of his House's Fine Wines, now finally in full production. "Delicious, yes?" He nodded, already assuming that Lord Hadrian had agreed with him. "Yes, the best in the city. And with your help, I'll be able to help make it official!" He handed Lord Hadrian a stack of letters. "A Fair Trade for your potatoes. My kind steward has informed me that you are making rounds to the rest of the Houses with your gesture of goodwill. Very Noble Indeed. I was wondering you'd be so generous as to pass out these fliers and invitations for me while you're at it?" He shook the Hadrian's free hand, thanking him for the appreciative help, before downing the glass of wine he had just offered the Lord from off the table and striding out the room. "Thanks for the potatoes!" *** When out of the room, Gamic came across Fia, who was hovering outside of sight on the other side of the wall, eavesdropping on the conversation. Ever curious, that one, he thought smiling. "So, what did you learn?" He already knew that she had heard everything that was said. "That we're eating potatoes with dinner?" She said, nodding towards the sack he was still holding. "Gee, it takes a real Tineye to figure that one out," He replied, rolling his eyes. "What's the Invitations for?" She asked. "Bingo. We, dear, are holding Luthadel's First Festival of Wine Tasting, to celebrate our Lord Ruler's... er.. Rule, and the fine Traditions of being Nobles! And of course to confirm that Urbain's Vintages are of course the finest in the Final Empire." "But what if somebody else wins?" "Don't worry about that, dear." Gamic replied, winking. Thanks for the perfect RP opportunity to help deliver the Invitations Araris!
  3. I, for one, am glad for Ren's update on the Voting Rules. Heck, as a GM, I'd have gone even further and made Votes on yourself COST 1 Coin! Simply maintaining presence in the thread just to collect coin is only going to help the Eliminators. It doesn't force any discussion, doesn't threaten a lynch, and merits us almost nothing. (except, of course, taking a closer look at those who have voted for themselves) One thing to note real quick, last cycle I was in the Passenger Car with the Gambling Game, and Phattemer was rather quick to take control of the Gambling Game, and while they make sense and it seemed to work out for everyone, he had noted that the 'Rules' that were established were already setup there the Cycle Before, so if he is in that TrainCar again, that would suggest some serious wealth hording on his part, and honestly, the best use I can think of for that is to try and save up for the Assassin, which doesn't seem too helpful in the hands of a Villager right now... I have also mentioned in my Train Car so far that I am curious to see if Meta will speak up soon, after being so aggressive the first cycle and not really responding at all at Station 2. We also need to make sure we're not letting lurkers get by this game by barely speaking up (which is just as bad, if not the same as placing a vote on yourself), as the more rapid pace of these games warrants as much participation and discussion as possible, and even letting people slide by for a few cycles without being called into questioning can be quite dangerous, and give them the head start they need. Hopefully some time for RP when I wake up later!
  4. Ok, wow. >.< I honestly completely forgot about the Caboose Train also role-blocking Votes last cycle when I put the vote on Bort in the Caboose. >.> To be honest, I just voted for him out of a 'tit-for-tat' vote retaliation (didn't see his vote retracted), and didn't want to leave the Role-block up to a random tie, because that makes it not as useful then. Especially if Bort says he wasn't notified of being Role-blocked, that means we'll need to have the players in the Caboose keep a very close tally on the votes in there and report them at the end of each cycle . Then again, people have brought up a good point of the Coinshots trying to track down any passengers who go to the Vault Car. If they coinshots can keep track of who's where and in that car, then it basically becomes useless as the Coinshots won't waste their kills on those players. Perhaps we discuss who was where after each Turn? That way we can still learn who said/did what (mostly the Caboose Results, if a kill didn't happen, then we're able to start looking at those who were role-blocked at least first) and not give away crucial information if it isn't needed? Also, might as well throw a vote on here while I have time before work. Met-al, you have any thoughts, or you just want to keep punching people?
  5. Not exactly sure where the lynch vote stands right now, but I'll place a vote for Shallan for right now. It appears they've only posted in the thread once, and to only post one word to confirm what somebody else had already said, without adding anything else while still netting themselves at least 1 Coin by posting in the thread and appearing not completely inactive. While that doesn't mean automatically they're a Coinshot, of course, I still hope it will prompt some sort of response and encourage their participation. Oh, and I'm in the Caboose, with: Symmer Ghetti (Burnt Spaghetti) Old Wolf (Aanwolf) Leif Erikeller (leiftinspace) Doctor McNinja (Clanky) Bortholemew the Blind (Bort) Everton Slade (Bridge Boy) The Caboose seems interesting as a Train Car mechanic, as the Role-block ability would definitely be most useful once we've got a narrowed down list of targets, as we can try and block any suspected Eliminators from making their kill. While this would of course only be a soft-confirm, it's still something to possibly consider! Also, apologies if I seem less active than usual for this game for the time being, in the middle of a ridiculous stretch of overtime hours workweek(s), and it's starting to get to me. >.>
  6. Grind heard the hiss and clanking sound as the doors were locked shut, sealing him and a train full of apparent psycho-paths in together. Indefinitely. He closed his eyes and issued a small prayer to Harmony above, pulling his tiny, metal earring out of his pocket. He didn't put it on, he just held it in his closed fist, trying to gather the courage to get through this. Looks like I'm going to be running a little bit late for dinner, he thought wryly, placing the earring back in his pocket, I just can't wait to make it home to Tiff and Gem once this is all over... The thought trailed off as he took another look around the train and noticed all the hostile, paranoid stares, especially a few even being tossed his way! He gulped. Rust and Ruin, if I even get the chance to make it home from this! Grind mustered up his courage and walked over to the hulking behemoth of a man who was glaring right at him and cracking his knuckles. I'm not sure if he's saying my name because he's trying to get my attention, or maybe he just finds the repetition soothing. "I'm sorry, um, sir?" Grind asked as he walked up to the man, feeling puny in the shadow of the towering beast. "Would you mind sidling over just a little bit to make room for another weary soul?" He tried offering his most placating smile, seeing if that would help any. "I sure wouldn't mind being able to take a seat and stretch my legs after such a long day of hard work." He gestured down to his soiled and rugged work pants, faded and stained dirty after working for the railroads for so long. The man just continued to glower at him, and repeated his name and cracked his knuckles in a menacing manner. "...Err, good talk..." Grind said, backing away, "I'll just go find someplace else to sit. Perhaps near the back of the car, in the _____" And what an excellent segue to OOC Blue! So first questions first, are we allowed to post in thread what Train Cars we are in? Also, turns out my RP actually coincides with real life! Yes, I was checking the thread when the game first started, but that was me checking in on my phone at work! (Shhh!) But as far as getting some actual lynch votes placed, I still need to look over the thread a bit more, and actually get into my Train Car PM, but I'll place a vote then when I do. As this is a Quick-Fix game, we need to make sure we actually have threatening lynches, and can't really waste too much idle time on poke-votes or calling people out -- we need to actually apply pressure! One thing to note real quick, we definitely shouldn't be using any reasoning or 'evidence' from other games or parts of the forum this our suspicions! Yeah, looking at players' past playstyles to try and determine their 'norm' is one thing, but just because somebody was/is a certain role or character in another game -- they are obviously completely disconnected -- and that shouldn't take any part in discussions for this game.
  7. Who is the First Pokemon? A)Rhydon B)Bulbasaur C)Mewtwo D) Arceus
  8. Gamic Urbain strode through his freshly built distillery, the random tools and assorted pieces and parts still scattered about, waiting for the cleanup crew to make it's way through to pick them up. His suit seemed to assault the eyeballs, it's radiant and bright colors popping right out at everyone, in juxtaposition to the dark and grim streets of Luthadel, covered in their ash and haunted by the mists at night. He smiled. "And the Lord Urbain said, 'Let There Be Wine!'," he held out an empty goblet expectantly, shaking it impatiently when it remained unfilled. "And where is my wine?" He asked, frowning. "Um, sir....," Find cleared his throat behind him, balancing the ledgers. "You don't have anything to make the wine with," The servant said, sweeping his arm across the room, showing the distillery in fact empty of anything to produce alcohol with. "Then build a vineyard." Gamic said flippantly, turning away and going to seek out a bottle of wine in the meantime. *** One of the workers strode over to Find who just stood there staring after the departing Lord Urbain in his ridiculous, garish suit. "Um, he wasn't serious, was he?" He asked hopefully. Find sighed. "Well, get the Guild back out here. It seems we need to build a Vineyard." The worker was flabbergasted. "What. Right here?" He looked around, his arms spread out in a way that said, Are you kidding me? "What? And you expect the Lord Urbain to pay those exuberant prices the other Houses would charge for the use of their canals for shipping produce from the South? No, he would not stand for that. We'll build the Vineyard right here, in Luthadel. He should go for that." Find nodded in confirmation, trying to convince himself.
  9. Like how you worded it so we couldn't choose ourselves (except for Meta, of course ) For in-game/character feud's sake, seems like Wilson will have a vendetta against me for a minute now -- which is where half the fun comes in! But also me and Meta go back and forth between our characters either completely clashing, but him and I have also had great back and forth working together in games! Usually depends on the characters we play at the time and how the games turn out. As far as games I'd like to play again, LG:4 was a complete blast, and would love to see a close version to that run again sometime soon! I'd probably not try and 'betray' the village that time then, though. (Note, it was just me talking with Wilson and knowing who Team Evil were and just not acting on it, and just spreading dissension among the villagers with my anti-dictatorship talk in fun RP. We've still barely explored Nalthis in our games here in Elimination, which makes sense, because Breaths are a tricky as damnation mechanic to get balanced! Edit: Apologies, a tired Gamma is bad at answering multiple questions at once. >.> I'll try and get back in here when I'm more well rested!
  10. Oh, philosophy major, riddle this! With Balefire, when you hit the item, and it ceases to exist, wouldn't that have caused you to have never balefire'd it in the first place?
  11. So which do you guys like better? Kashero or Wyrmimir? And Why? Just. Why?
  12. Heh, jumping right into it, eh? As far as the House Urbain Subordinate question goes, I'ma go with a PAFO on that one! (Who knows, they might get a special mention eventually in Wyrm's Heirs of Luthadel, Generational RPG.) My favorite game I've played so far? Or which one was most enjoyable? I think I have a tie on that one, or two specific answers. LG 2:The Devil's Den was a really fun game, and possibly is one of my favorites! It introduced the Conversion mechanic that we all know I love so much, and being a victim of said Conversion, was my first time playing as an Eliminator, and I had way too much fun with Rioting/Soothing shenanigans! But one of the most enjoyable games I've been in had to have been MR 5: Competing Realities. The whole team-based free-for-all aspect of that game was super intriguing, and a lot of fun to navigate! (Even if a bit of a headache!) That game came down to the wire, and was very tense up til the very last cycle! Definitely very enjoyable! Edit: As for that edited question.... See, there's that conditional 'Sanderson Elimination Game' for the thought experiment, and most players are already well aware of my spontaneous and whimsical play style, so the answer would probably solely depend on what character I'm playing at the time! Believe it or not, look back at all my games, and most of their actions and how I played out the game loosely resembles their RP style! I always try and play the games like my characters would! (...So if my characters I'm playing are more inclined towards betrayal and moral ambiguity....)
  13. Holy thread re-purposing, Batman! For those who are unaware, there is a new section of the Forums where all members can do Reddit-style AMAs, and we Sanderson Elimination Mods decided to join the fun, and posted an AMA: SE Mod Edition! We feel like this thread can be a good place to help address any questions or anything any players might have for us about the games, the sub-forum, or just anything about us as individuals! So feel free to pop on over there and ask all those burning questions!
  14. Welcome to the Sanderson Elimination AMA! We (Gamma Fiend, Little Wilson, and Metacognition) are the Mods of the Sanderson Elimination games on the forum. We’ve been running, maintaining, and keeping things amazingly civil considering this is a game where we all wind up trying to kill each other for over a year already and we look forward to many more years of fun and mayhem! Since the AMA’s have become so popular, we thought this would be a good way to explain what our games are and how you can get involved; as well as a wonderful resource for newer players to get their specific questions answered by the Sanderson Elimination Mods. Or if you just want to get to know us better! That said, this is also really for anyone that is curious about the Sanderson Elimination games and to ask those burning questions you might have for us as officiators of the games or individually as people. If you’re unfamiliar with the games, our General Rules thread answers a lot of those questions, but we’re happy to answer questions in here as well. We’re open to almost* any kind of question. To give you some idea of the questions that we’re typically asked that we would love to answer: What are the games and how do I join? Are there expectations for new players? What is a meta-game and how does it work? What’s the deal with these threat levels and some player’s reputations? Which of Brandon’s books is your favorite? What is the dichotomy between good and evil? What is that weird looking mark on my back? What’s your favorite Pokemon? Be Creative! Really, ask us anything!* *Well, almost anything…. While we are completely fine answering a wide range of questions on almost any topic there is, there are, of course, a few that we either can’t answer or won’t be able to comment on: We can’t discuss anything happening within a game that is currently being played. Sorry. Even with as careful as we will try to be not to give anything away, we still could slip up and we don’t want to ruin the integrity of the games by giving people an unfair advantage. Those questions should be directed at the GM of that particular game or to the Impartial Mod for that game. Anything that’s too personal (for example, asking us our bank account numbers and such) will either be answered with maximum snark or not at all; though most likely answered with snark. We’re evil like that. That’s pretty much it. Thanks in advance for your participation in this. We look forward to answering any questions any of you may have. And don’t worry so much! We only brutally murder people in the games. We’re actually quite nice, so ask away! (For the record, I’ll only be accepting questions based off of the First Generation of Pokemon. And the answer is Jolteon.)
  15. The ground-shacking rattle of the wheels on the tracks, the piercing cry of the steam whistle, and the horrible grinding sound that seemed to reverberate through your bones and vibrate your very core. Such was Grind's daily life. Grinding away, slaving for the corporations in their never-ending pursuit to be the best and the biggest. All at the expense of the workers. He thought of Tiff back at home, and little Gem. And he thought of their smiles, the way their faces lit up as he walked in through the door every night, stinking up to High Harmony and covered in soot and grime, they would still run and hug him and shower him with kisses. The thoughts filled him with warmth. For a second at least, until a deafening roar of another train whirring by shook him out of his daydream, and a cloud of smoke and smog poured over him, left in the train's wake. A new sound, the double-whistle of the shift clock, letting him know that the day's work was done. He hauled the final stack of metal rods to where it needed to be, and stamped his slip, ready to head home and relax with his family. He earned it after the hard work he put in today. Now it was just a matter of catching a train home. He prepared himself for the grinding screech as the train to take him home rolled into the station and slowed to a stop. He nodded to the group of fellow passengers as he got onto the train, even if some of them seemed more brusque and rude, he just shook it off as people being tired after working all day like himself -- even if everyone else didn't seem as stinky. He smiled. Just a short ride away, and he'd be with his family. Count me in! Don't mind me, I'm just a poor working man, trying to make it home to my family!
  16. The garbled sounds of bustling activity filled the streets of Luthadel, the pounding of hammers, the scratching of saws, shouts and cries and workers and messengers and servants flooded the squares, as the city rapidly grew in front of their very eyes. Every morning the mists would retreat under the unrelenting, fiery glare of the sun, showing the promising progress of the previous day before it was buried beneath the horrible ashfalls, courtesy of the nearby Ashmnounts towering in the horizons, spewing their never-ending smoke and noxious gases. Gamic had also started receiving reports as more and more refugees flocked to the major city -- the central locus of the New World -- and their reports of the madness and horrors the new world contained. Stories of creatures and monsters lurking in the mists at night, roaming the wastelands and laying waste to all victims. Find had mentioned it seemed that most of the common folk were starting to grow wary and apprehensive of the mists, and the nightmares contained within. *Ahem* Somebody coughed from behind Gamic, startling him as he sat at his desk, viewing over said reports and enjoying a sample glass of the newest, highest rated wine in the city, which he spilled all over his newly, fine-tailored suit when he jumped. "Er- sorry to interrupt, sir, but I have unfortunate news to bring to your attention...." "Funny to Find you here," Gamic joked, trying to nonchalantly brush off his spill. "Just the man I need to go and fetch me a new suit, I should have had a fresh crate delivered here earlier....." He trailed off noticing his servant's resigned expression. He looked down at the rest of his glass of wine -- about half full -- swirling it for a second and taking a whiff of it before downing it all in one shot. "Spill it." Find sighed and handed him an envelope, a finely embroidered slip of parchment with a neat and tight calligraphic handwritten invitation. ".....A Ball," Gamic said finally after a moment. "Yes," Find solemnly replied. "A Ball." "HOW?!" Gamic roared, suddenly tossing all of the papers and summaries and ledgers off of his desk, causing an explosion of paper to go flying through the air. "First Host was supposed to be my Title! My Prominence! My Glory!" He pounded his hand on the desk, emphasizing each word. He was in a full rage. "Lord Ruler! Why else do you think I specifically sought out ash-stained good for nothing workers, trying to cater them into reliable servants. Fine clothes and livery -- to be the envy of the Noble Elite -- and the best drinks in the city to keep the guests well entertained and plastered! How could this good for nothing...." He stopped off, snatching the invitation from the silent servant's hands and peering at the name, "....Lady Lutha." He stood up suddenly, going over to the pile of papers he had just tossed on the ground, riffling through them and muttering and cursing under his breath. "Guess I won't be needing this anymore," He said after a while, finding the paper he had been looking for and taking a deep breath. On it was a detailed plan for his Secret Ball. "Good thing I had a Back-up Plan," Gamic said, balling the page up and tossing it in the fire, smiling as he watched the paper crisp and burn as it was consumed by the fire. **** The next morning, the deep, depressing mists receded as normal with the red sun, and the sounds of life filled the streets of Luthadel once more, and it was another day as usual in the rapidly growing city of Luthadel, center of the Final Empire. The messengers of House Urbain, however; had been busy throughout the night, as 17 House Nobles awoke to startling messages awaiting them. Due to the sudden shortage of supply of paper on the market, House Urbain had had to resort to drastic measures regarding sending out special invitations. To whomever it may concern: Greetings, Fellow Lords and Ladies! I, Gamic of the House Urbain, First of His Name and Lord Ancestor of His Family Line, do hereby, Formally, and with All Courtesies, promptly Invite you to First Single Greatest Event in Luthadel's History -- Aside from It's Creation -- Luthadel's Second Official Ball, But the First One Actually Worth Note. When: To Be Announced Where: Keep Urbain Who: Only Whomever Has Received This Message My Sincerest Thanks and Graces in Advance to those that Attend, as Attendance May or May Not Be Noted. Sincerely, And With All Pleasures, Officiated and Dictated by Yours Truly, Gamic Urbain (P.S. Please Tip the Messenger, I'm Sure They Worked Hard On This) These messages were scrawled on all of the Walls of all of the Keeps of all of the Nobles of Luthadel, painted and stained on in a thick, viscous mixture of water and ash in huge, sloppy letters, with the glaring exception of the walls of the newlywed House Elarial remaining blank, as they were the only Noble House to not receive an invitation.
  17. Gamic surveyed the grim and uninspiring holdings he had been granted by Rashek -- now dubbing himself 'The Lord Ruler' -- a squat, dull gray brick building, entirely unadorned and without any sort of warmth or homeliness. "This simply will not do." He noted, shaking his head. No. If he was going to be the envy of the rest of the Nobles, he'd need something to stand out with. "Find!" Gamic barked, summoning his personal steward -- he had arrived to his newly gifted keep and had found a small retainer or servants already waiting on hand, -- "Go and Find me some skilled workers and craftsmen!" He had never bothered to learn the name of the man, just figured he'd call him the thing he'd ask him to do the most, so he just named him Find. Funnily enough, it didn't seem to bother the servant. "Um, sir.... what skilled laborers and craftsmen? This new empire barely has a population to speak of, let alone hordes of nameless craftsmen just to be beckoned on whims." Gamic sighed. Why is it so hard to find good help? "Alright, here's what we'll do then. Put an open house call out. Any men or woman who have any skills of any sorts, or craft or trade that can be honed, then bring them here. We'll house and feed them, and have them teach others -- at a profit of course." He brushed his hand over one of the drab, colorless banners hanging frayed and disheveled, staining black already under the unrelenting ashfalls. "Ugh, and we're going to have to do something about the atmosphere. It's way to dull and not nearly ostentatious enough in here." It was Find's turn to sigh. "And, pray tell, what would you have me do about that?" "I'd thought you'd never ask," Gamic said, smiling. "Go and find the brightest, most garish fabrics you can manage to uncover. If you can't find them, then get some of our newly hired craftsmen working on making some. We need some colour in this world besides red, gray, brown, and black." "Would you like anything else?" Gamic could almost hear the resigned tone in Find's voice as the question was asked. "As a matter of fact, yes. Find me something to drink." "Water? Juice? Tea?" Gamic glared at his steward. "Where. Is. The. Wine." It was not a question. Find sighed. "I suppose I shall go acquire some local distilleries." First Action: Gamic is sending open invitations to craftsmen and laborers to come share and learn their skills, a Trade School of sorts. Luthadel's first and Most Prominent, of course. He is doing this to create future craftsmen and laborers for the benefit of the Final Empire and help making Luthadel the envy of the world. (And sprucing up his Keep!) Second Action: Gamic, as house lord, is going about acquiring as many textile resources as he can! He is specifically looking into the uses or brightly coloured dyes and fabrics. This will be used to help create a market in a finer, higher quality of clothing for the Noble Class to wear to help distinguish themselves. (And clothing his servants in the best rags in Luthadel!) Third Action: Gamic is getting Drunk. As in, he is buying up and converting as many local Luthadel distilleries as he can find into producing nothing but the finest Wines and Whiskeys. This is to help create a cornerstone in the Luthadel Liquor Sector, and set a precedent and example for all future breweries to follow. (So he can always be obnoxiously drunk!)
  18. Just popping in to remind everybody in the game to treat each other politely and with respect, and to throw a link to the Etiquette Policy for everybody to review. Remember these are just games, and the point is to have fun! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to shoot me a PM if necessary!
  19. I suppose you could just possibly nerf the game a little bit and not have the 9 of us randomly start with the Beads? Just have those 9 Kings existing out of game, and leak NPC heirs of theirs into the game for us to start getting Allomancy? It'd probably delay us getting Allomancy and all that at first, and might put more of a focus on the Marriage aspect at first, but something like that if we want to stick to canon? I'm okay with being a little time-bendy throughout the game as we progress, but might as well be canon while we can!
  20. Gamic Urbain sauntered from the back of the cave, brushing dirt and dust off of his tattered outfit, "Will we follow you?" He asked, echoing Rashek, who indeed had seemed to have changed quite profoundly."Does it seem like we have a bloody choice?" He raised his hand to his forehead, shielding his eyes from the vicious, glaring red sun, trying to take a look around to see what was left after.... whatever had happened. Something about moving closer to the sun? Gamic shook his head, not sure what to make of everything. "So... do we just sort of.... start over?" He narrowed his eyes took a peek around at the nonames and tag-alongs that somehow had found a way into this Rashek's Depressing Empire, or whatever he was going to be calling it. "I'm not sure how these rabble managed to be included, but I'm rather sure I shant have to worry about them." He sniffed and raised his nose, walking right past all his peers, stopping in front of Rashek -- not daring to stand by him -- "I, Gamic, of House Urbain, and all my Generations to come, will always stand by your side," He said, bowing.
  21. We'll see how well the Urbain Overlords manage in this game.
  22. Yep! Wilson and Meta immediately called dibs on this game when you first revealed it, and Wilson had to sign-up once she saw Claincy was playing! So I'll be the Mod sitting out if you or anyone else needs me for whatever reasons during the game, and I'll enjoy watching the ensuing bloodbath in the Spec Doc.
  23. So, I'm not good with the whole 'formal' theory-crafting template, so I suppose I'll just dive right in. When thinking of modern uses for Emotional Allomancy, I began to think about the effectiveness of psychiatrists and the like if they are able to expertly apply Rioting/Soothing on their patients during their sessions. Surely this would help ease away their anxiety, or help cheer them up or be more forthcoming and prone to self-reflection... ...but then I got to thinking of the potential aspects of that becoming more and more successful and popular. In our modern culture, many people experience great social and anxiety issues, as well as depression and all sorts of other slight personality disorders. Could Rioting/Soothing potentially replace, or at least severely hinder the invention and widespread usage of pharmaceuticals? Rioting and Soothing are known to effect emotions, being able to dampen them or inflame certain feelings, but the key point is they were feelings already there. And what are emotions but chemical balances/imbalances in the brain? Is Rioting/Soothing able to directly effect the brain in that regard? Instead of taking a [insert anti-depressant name] pill, would daily or weekly sessions with the Rioter/Soother do the trick, and help balance out your emotions? *Random thought* What about Sociopaths? Would they have any emotions able to be allomantically manipulated?* Even if Emotional Allomancy doesn't necessarily replicate/replace pharmaceutical pills of the like, it would still become quite popular as civilization advances. Day have you just a little bit gloomy? Go see a skilled Rioter (at top dollar, of course), and feel extremely happy for whatever period of time, and eventually, that can potentially become habitual behavior if one keeps doing that. You just don't feel right, if your anxiety or fear isn't been soothed away, or your desired level of happiness doesn't become achieved, or it's just no longer enough. Yes, I'm talking about potential Recreational Soothing/Rioting (And it's bad, m'kay! Really, really, bad) and it's potential for abuse and mental dependency/addiction. Does such a thing sound plausible -- especially considering what's considered to be addictive behaviour nowadays? Then we can get into the whole actual Cosmere aspect of it all and what damage mental dependency/addiction takes on your Cognitive Identity and all that. What do you all think? Is this theory crackpot enough?
  24. Updates! Looks like Updates on the progress of the Mistborn Dice have been sent out! The molds of the first 10 dice have come in, and they said they are inspecting (read: playing with) them for final checks before giving the go-ahead on full scale production! I just gotta say, these look gorgeous!
