Syl actually probably was a Windspren at some point in her existence, but you are correct in that she has been Honorspren for far longer than Kaladins lifetime. We have WoB that Honorspren like Syl and Windspren are related, but they aren't the same thing.

There is another important similarity between Highstorms and Mists. In fact I would say this is possibly the most important similarity, at least in the case of Roshar. Both of these events are heightened forms of natural phenomena that likely existed prior to the Shards involvement on that world. Life on Roshar has completely adapted to Highstorms. This is a process that takes a very very long period of time to accomplish. I would speculate that it would require more time than that which has passed since the splintering of Adonalsium. I would speculate that Honor, and possibly Cultivation invested in the volatile storms that wracked the Pangaea. That it was through investing in these already naturally occurring phenomena that the Highstorms became somewhat predictable. Human evolution doesn't count in regards to the adaptation of life on Roshar, on the contrary, in some respects it stands as a marker to show how little time has passed since the coming of Honor on an evolutionary scale. On the other hand humans are one of the few beings capable of adapting the environment to suit our needs on a scale larger than that of building a nest. EDIT: Just FYI, spoiler tags aren't required in Cosmere Theories anyways.

Interesting theory. If this is the case, that would make Allomancy virtually useless without metal from Scadrial, yet I have to wonder... A planet is constantly being bombarded by debris from space. Would an Allomancer be capable of burning metal from a meteorite that impacted the surface of Scadrial? Would it only work after that meteorite was exposed to the mists? Would the people of Scadrial be able to bring metal mined in space back to Scadrial so it could be invested? If a Soulcaster Soulcasts a chunk of iron on Scadrial, would that iron ever be able to be burned? It's simpler to go with the idea that the investiture is in the person, and that the metal is just the trigger. If we go with this latter case, then the metal could theoretically be from anywhere and work anywhere.

Cough** LIFO ** Cough I meant LIFO. Last in first out.

This probably means you will be shot in the face by a guy named David in a book called Fire Fight. Don't worry though, I'm sure it will be Epic.

I'm fairly certain that Chapter two (Kaladin Chapter) of the WoR happens the very next day after the battle for the tower. I don't think Kaladin would sit around for a couple of days or weeks lolly gagging before he started organizing his people. It seems to me that he woke up the next morning, gathered his staff and went to work. I expected a time jump of a couple of weeks between TWoKs and WoR, so this kind of surprised me. If this is the case, it most certainly doesn't leave Szeth with any time to have struck in Chapter One.

There are various possibilities. The most likely is that they use a first in first out inventory system. This would mean that they sell their most recent inventory first, and only sell the older stuff as they start to run low on new stuff. So if they ordered 10K copies, sold 9K, then ordered more, that last 1000 copies would be waiting for the second order to run out before being sold. Rinse and repeat. They may very well have sold thousands of second, third, and fourth addition copies and just ran out of them and started selling their remaining first addition copies until the next order comes in. I'd say you got lucky.

I believe that was Syl in the Physical for a very long time, but Wyndle put a seed of doubt in my mind when he mentioned that the Ring helped protect his memories when he was crossing over from the Cognitive to the Physical. If Honor spren don't have that kind of protection, then when they arrive in the Physical they will be memory impaired after leaving their home realm. I still believe that Syl was little more than a windspren since the Recreance, but I would no longer be willing to bet on it.
-
No, your not misinterpreting facts. It's highly unlikely in my opinion that Syl wast part of the Ring. No one protected her memories. The Ring is unlikely to have any influence over Cryptics either.

Lift used Stormlight to heal her broken ribs when she first attempted to evade Darkness and was captured. This occurred just before she met the Larkin.

If the gems were badly flawed, they could have been fully charged with Stormlight, and still cracked under strain. It still could have been an attempt on his life. The Chasm Fiend was the second time he exerted himself in his armor that day. So to say that it would have been noticeable isn't necessarily true. Then again, we have no proof either way. This is a mystery that we lack sufficient evidence to solve at this time.

I am agreeable to this. Regardless of anything else, traveling through the Cognitive does require Stormlight, and while I don't know what the dangers of Shadesmar are, we know they exist. Running out of Stormlight is possibly the greatest risk, but we don't know what one might encounter in Shadesmar that could require greater expenditures of Stormlight than expected and leave you in a bind.

I like option two. Allow me to further expand the theory. The traveler, or a person holding a travel fabrial could do point to point from within the cognitive, but would only be capable of this manner of travel when traveling alone. It would give them the ability to relocate their cognitive and physical aspects, but wouldn't allow them to control the cognitive or physical aspects of those whom they were escorting. This would allow for near instantaneous travel by the Surgebinder/fabrial holder, but would require a journey through Shadesmar if escorting others via Oathgate.

We really don't know when Tanavast was killed. We have evidence to support that Tanavast lived at least up until the Recreance, but it isn't enough evidence to prove it. So it's possible he died prior to the Recreance, but it's also possible that he was alive when Galivar was assassinated. The only thing we know for certain is that Tanavast is dead. Perhaps it was when an Honorblade was used as a tool for murder that Odium was finally able to kill Tanavast. I know all of this is rather unlikely, but really we just don't know for certain, and that is all I'm trying to say here.

I think you misunderstand me. A fabrial clock for instance, has a spren trapped in a gemstone. It uses a fixed amount of power and apparently lasts a very long time. But when the gem breaks, if that even happens, the spren should be able to escape the broken gemstone, requiring an artifabrian to repair the clock by trapping another spren in the appropriate type and size gem and placing it back into the fabrial. A fabrial Soulcaster has its gemstones replaced regularly. So it is unlikely that their are spren trapped within the gemstones on a Soulcaster. We don't have any direct examples of anyone replacing gemstones on a real soulcasting fabrial, but it was inferred that it didn't require a great deal of preparation or spren trapping procedures. It is even inferred that the gemstone doesn't need to be attached to the fabrial for it to work (how do you mount a head sized emerald to something you wear on your hand?). In these cases I would suspect that the fabrial user would need to keep the fabrial in contact with the gemstone while soulcasting. Never once when anyone is talking about soulcasting fabrials is it inferred that spren need to be trapped inside the gemstone for it to function. It could even be argued that the opposite is inferred when Navani says that modern fabrial science works nothing like fabrials created pre-Recreance.

Soulcasters have their gemstones replaced all the time.

I think the phrase "by the blood of my fathers" could just as easily be a common expression amongst all the noble houses of Alethkar. These people interact and intermarry. I don't believe it is likely that Moash is specifically targeting Dalinar, but I find the theory that he is the dark eyed bastard of a high noble compelling.

The Shard of Dreams. When a Cognitive being falls asleep, they become invested and can do incredible things, but everything is done subconsciously and you have no control over what you have done. As soon as you wake up, you lose all investiture until you fall asleep again. Those who are awake have to try to find a way to deal with all the chaos that is generated by those who are asleep, to include killing nightmares, putting out fires, burying those who were killed by other peoples dreams, etc. The Shard of Auto-correct Invests everyone with the ability to communicate telepathically, but randomly auto-corrects their thoughts.

Yes, I'm aware of the quote, it doesn't prove that travel through the cognitive takes longer in a populated area than traveling through that same area would take in the physical. In fact I would be willing to go so far as to say that travel through the cognitive could be much faster, even faster than flying. Lets look at the Stoneward that appeared after the Windrunner landed in Skyfall. The Stoneward isn't likely to have known where the Windrunner would land exactly, but moments after his arrival, she appeared. She didn't appear the next day, she appeared moments after he landed. So unless she was traveling by some other means than by traveling through the Cognitive, traveling through the Cognitive can be very fast. I suppose it could be argued that she traveled from an uninhabited location and appeared in a scarcely inhabited area without crossing any heavily populated areas, but I find it less likely than I'd find travel through the Cognitive to be a speedy process.

Yes, you can be an ardent with dark eyes. I believe in one of Kaladins flashback chapters his options were laid out for him. He could be a surgeon, a Stormwarden, or and ardent. It's likely that a dark eyed ardent would find it more difficult to rise in the ranks of the Ardentia, and it's likely that as a dark eyed ardent you would start off as the equivalent of a friar traveling from village to village rather than being placed in a nobles household or something of a similar nature.

I don't see it. If Jasnah can create a raft of beads and move it across the surface of the sea at will, then the only difficult part of moving through a densely populated area would be locating a specific point of egress. There are, as far as I can see thus far, no obstacles to avoid, and I can't see why the distance would be greater than it is in the real world. Why should a cognitive entity take up more space than a physical one? From appearances, cognitive aspects actually take up less space than physical ones because each cognitive aspect is held within a small sphere.

I agree with Argent as well. On the subject of truths, I believe that the Cryptics are aware of truth on a higher level than just what the speaker believes. They even have a means of measuring those truths to some degree. The truth Shallan spoke initially was useless, but the second truth she spoke was powerful. Both were true as far as Shallan was concerned, and while the second truth was more personal, and therefore of greater value to the Cryptics, I think it may have been accepted as long as Shallan felt responsible, but it was powerful because she knew she was responsible.

Source — Lift interlude It appears that after the first Prime was assassinated, A new Prime was chosen in less than a week. It's not unlikely that Szeth was instructed to wait a short interval because Taravangian anticipated that a new Prime would be risen almost immediately and felt that the assassination of one Prime wouldn't constitute a significant disruption to the affairs of Azir. If this was the case, Taravangian was correct. After the second assassination, Azir went weeks without a Prime out of fear of the assassin in white, and were leaning towards putting someone who was likely to prove ineffectual as a leader in control of the government. A week in Roshar is 5 days. This means that after the first Prime was assassinated, a new Prime was installed after three days, and then assassinated two days later.

More than one Shardbearer died in TWoKs. If you really want to check the evidence, I would suggest looking for corroboration with the Shardbearer that Kaladin killed. If there is a delay, then there is a delay, if not, then not. A dead man has no heartbeat, so I can't understand why a delay would exist once the spiritual link to the Blades bearer was snuffed out.
