  1. In case you weren't aware, the Steel Alphabet has been cracked as well, (which doesn't mean you can't crack it again of course ). We know what atium and lerasium mean, though we don't have a meaning for harmonium. I'm pretty sure it isn't used in the Steel Alphabet, even in the AoL era and it definitely isn't in the Final Empire era.
  2. It took a little while to make though not tooo long. It's basically a few blocks of code from one of my games in a very small font-size. I removed a lot of the existing tabs and newlines (and added a few) to make it fit the letters better. The gaps in the letters formed from shorter lines are very deliberate Over the top of that I put a white mask layer with gaps in the shape of the letters which cuts off the bits of the code that don't fit in the letters. I also added a white background behind the text.
  3. Hmm let's see: Some tabletop rpgs that I've played: Prime Directive Gurps World of Darkness Shadowrun D&D 5e Mistborn Adventure Game I've played quite a few crpgs but some of my favourites were: mass effect the witcher deus ex elder scrolls I too am working on a tabletop rpg, but it's got a way to go yet.
  4. Sure it's "simple" (but not stupid), but simple things can be still be very hard. I feel similarly pleased whenever I do something like that I've been working on setting up a website for my games dev, it's got a little further to go but it's coming along. I was working on developing a logo/header last night but my artistic skills leave a lot to be desired. I can do some things, but interesting logos do not come easily. I initially thought I could make something using a pattern of squares over the letters (kinda like pixels) but, well, nope: I tried making the squares a bit smaller but that didn't really make things much better: At that point I decided that while someone else might be able to make this work, I was getting nowhere So I decided to try making it out of much larger squares and kind of stack them to form the name. I'm quite sure this as a concept can work buuuuuut: At least my brother and I had a good laugh about it So yeah, it wasn't going too well. I'm not that great at visual design, shame I can't make it out of something I am good at, like code, but you can't make a logo out of code....or actually...maybe you can Much happier with that than with any of my previous attempts
  5. Then perhaps a better way of looking at it is that bullying like this makes it harder to get better. It's hard Just remember that if you do look for another job and find one, you don't have to take it if things are going well enough at your current job. The steps I think I'd take if I find myself in that kind of situation again (Obviously you're already past some of this): If (and only if) it wasn't very serious I'd wait and see if it was a once off. Talk to them and politely tell them to stop/explain why what they are saying/doing is problematic. For someone who doesn't realise the effect they're having this can sometimes be enough. Have another, far firmer talk with them letting them know in no uncertain terms that I won't keep putting up with their crem. Talk to the supervisor/team leader/whoever is next in charge If that fails then talk to the next level up/manager/whatever If all of that fails, then I'd contact HR. It's worth noting that depending on the severity of whatever they did, particularly if it involved physical action, I'd skip some of those steps to resolve the matter ASAP. Not sure if that's the best way/order for handling things, but that's what I think I'd do. As Arraenae said, that's exactly what this thread is for
  6. Report it. There's probably a way you can do it without immediately letting your coworkers know. If HR doesn't do anything then at least you tried but workplace bullying like that is completely unacceptable. In the worst case scenario where HR does nothing and your coworkers find out at least it'll tell them that you are serious about what they're doing being unacceptable. I'd start keeping an eye out for a new job too if I were you but either way that can't continue. That kind of bullying isn't just painful in the moment it impacts your mental health. (I'm still effected from the last time I was bullied like that, which was nearly 10 years ago.) I've tried the living with it/ignoring it strategy and it didn't work very well. You know this, but I'm going to say it anyway. You're not crazy. They're being cremholes.
  7. Well it's not really never. But far too often shows air in AU weeks or months (if ever) after the US and it's extremely annoying.
  8. Thanks, seems it didn't quite break And the rest of my day went pretty good, so it was just a poor beginning. No fascinating purple unfortunately, but given a choice of purple or not broken I'd pick not broken
  9. Just one of those mornings where it feels like the world is telling you to go back to bed *sigh*. Smashed my toe against a metal bucket, not yet sure if it's broken or not. Then I spilled part of my breakfast over the floor cos apparently my co-ordination hadn't woken up yet.
  10. 23 (This thread from a while back might interest you )
  11. Wait..wait what?! The second half of agents of SHIELD season 3 is releasing in AU now, not weeks or months after the US....this never happens. ... ... =D
  12. nice
  13. Yeah I agree. I think it's perhaps more likely that way, but I don't think it really matters if it was a literal or illustrative description. (I'm Christian->Anglican)
  14. @Kaymyth (But thanks for sharing.) I'm going to keep this story somewhat vague, there's a very low chance that any of my players will read this (well, any of the ones involved in this particular story anyway), but just in case As I've mentioned in the past I run a mistborn adventure game campaign with multiple crews. It's been running for a little over 3 years now (on and off) and I've had a number of players come and go. Anyway, the campaign is set a couple of years after a house war that resulted in the destruction of all but 4 of the great houses. 3 of the crews (yes, there were more than 3 total, cos I'm foolish) who have existed in the campaign are part of various noble houses and their sessions have focused largely on their houses quest to become one of the new great houses. (There are another 17 NPC houses aspiring to become major houses so it's not easy for them to guess which ones are the other players ) There have been far more crossovers, interactions and effects between the various crews than any of them are aware of which is a source of great amusement to me. I let each crew choose the name of their house as well as their primary focus and, by chance, 2 of the 3 house crews chose the same thing. A fairly short time into the campaign the two houses exchanged a short series of raids and attacks of various types, all done covertly without directly linking it to themselves. To make things interesting I decided to add a major contract that neither of the houses could hope to fill on their own but they could manage together. If neither of them took the contract then the other NPC houses that were in the same business almost certainly would have. Now one of them could have chosen to work with one of the NPC houses which they hadn't been subtly fighting with, but they didn't. Partly through the involvement of a third party, (a kandra from another crew who did a bit of crew hopping to help me out and to prepare in case I needed a backup Narrator at some point) both crews decided it would be in their best interests to work together on the contract. The best part is that throughout their fighting and making the deal neither crew realised that the house the way fighting, and then working, with was another player house XD
  15. Here's one: Around 3-6 years ago I used to play CTF with a group of friends on a semi-frequent basis. We often played it across a primary school on weekends, perhaps once every month or two. (We were mostly within the age range of 16-21 at the time.) This particular story occurred in 2012 during one of the last ones that we ran (perhaps the last one actually, I don't remember). This particular CTF day was a NERF one, and I think there were around 10 of us. The rules were pretty simple, roughly: -the two flags were placed at playgrounds at opposite ends of the school -if you were shot you had to go back to the designated respawn point for your team and drop the flag if you had it -if you managed to grab their flag and bring it back to yours, you won! Back then I wasn't exactly fit but I could still outpace most of the people who were playing, I was also one of the best shots. My memory is a little hazy on some of the details but I think we'd already played one game (in which I had successfully captured the flag for our team) and in the second game I'd managed to fight (or sneak) my way into their base and grab their flag again. I think most of their team was busy elsewhere and I was just making it back to our base when I saw one of the opposing players coming towards our base from the opposite direction. I was reasonably sure I was a better shot than them and I had another team-member nearby so I could have taken the careful approach and *probably* won. But I knew there was a risk of failure and if they managed to get our flag before I got there we'd have to retrieve it to win. So decision made I flat out sprinted for the drop off point, keeping my eye on the opposing player who was also sprinting in. I reached the point, dropped the flag on ours and BAM. I was flat on my back and having severe difficulty breathing. Turns out there was a tumble bar parallel to the ground at my chest height that I'd completely forgotten about and I had just sprinted straight into it at near top speed. I was reasonably aware of what was going on around me but I think it was about a minute before I could really move or make a sound to let them know I was ok, just long enough for me to start seriously wondering if I wasn't. I'm still not entirely sure how I didn't at least crack a rib doing that but I got away with some moderate bruising. The thing that scared me in retrospect was that if I was a bit shorter, or that bar a bit taller, that could have ended very very badly. (I don't run in playgrounds anymore ) Unsurprisingly that was pretty much it for my ability to play that day and once everyone was sure I was ok I think there were a number of jokes about me handicapping myself because I was too OP Cos when you get down to it, despite the stupidity and pain, I *did* capture that flag
  16. Of course we have Specifically: awakening, shardblades/plate & AonDor. http://steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=722
  17. In case anyone hasn't seen it there is a humble bundle of pathfinder source books on atm.
  18. In case you haven't found it yet, here's the list.
  19. I don't know a whole lot about the internal workings of the ipb forums so I can only guess but I think they could do the same kind of BBCode thing I did. That said with the larger size and more official nature of 17s I don't know they'd go for something that required users to have a font installed to see. I did find a method using @font-face that shouldn't require users to have the font installed. I wasn't able to set it up on steel ministry because I would need to upload the font file into the style files for the site and that's one of the few things I can't do (Though I'll talk to the guy who can.) This method might well work for 17s too but again I can't be certain and again I'm not certain the admins would go for it, though it won't hurt to ask them if you want to
  20. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's just a custom BBCode where the html replacement sets the font to use my steel alphabet font (and makes the text black and larger to make it easier to read). The big issue with this method is that you have to have my font installed on whatever device you're using to access the website or it'll use the default font and it'll just be large black text. In theory I might be able to use an @font-face rule to remove that requirement but I'm still investigating that.
  21. I found an easy way to use my steel alphabet font on steelministry. The results:
  22. Our current DM for our weekly D&D sessions called me half an hour before the session this afternoon to say he wasn't feeling well enough to DM but still wanted to come and asked if I could run a side adventure for a session. I said yes of course I've only DM'd for D&D a couple of times but I have more experience as a GM than a player in general. For only having a very short time to come up with a session I'm very happy with how it worked out. It's a good thing I've had some good practice at improvising from the Mistborn Adventure Game
  23. Double post I suppose, oh well. The bad: I'm currently doing some augmented reality stuff but my phone's camera lens is scratched and so my phone is completely useless for it. Additionally getting a galaxy sII plus repaired is not an easy thing as it's apparently quite fiddly to work with and it wasn't ever sold in Aus so getting the parts would be difficult. The good: Getting a new phone I liked the look of was remarkably easy for a change (I'm passing/selling my current phone on to my dad, it's about time he had a smartphone ) (The galaxy s2 plus wasn't exactly a new phone when I got it 2 and a half years back so I was going to upgrade eventually regardless, just hadn't been planning on doing it for another half year to a year.)
  24. I just submitted a game to a game design contest and whether it does well or not I'm happy with what I made
