  1. I saw it, I just wasn't overly concerned about potential ridiculously high (recently added?) levels I mean, if they aren't just trolly I'll happily add them once members actually reach them, but the base list is done Actually at this point I don't mind if the rep levels change, I kinda figured it would happen sooner or later and I just hoped to get the list done first. To quote a certain well informed person: The list currently contains 102 positive rep levels so if that wasn't incorrect to begin with...
  2. Awesome! We're finally finished (It's been around a year and a half since Chaos updated the rep levels). Good work everyone
  3. The most common other "reasons" for bullying I can think of are physical appearance, disabilities/similar issues or just being the shy one who looks like an easy target. Most of which are difficult to change, if it's possible at all. On a more positive note: Pax Aus is good Though I can only stand the crowds and noise for so long at one time before taking a break or leaving for the day. My social anxiety is a bit more manageable when surrounded by geeks/gamers than other people but it doesn't' prevent it entirely and with my fairly strong introversion it's just really exhausting and overwhelming after a while. *shrug*
  4. Picked it up yesterday, I haven't touched the campaign yet because I was waiting for a friend but I've played a bit of mp. Brief conclusion: I like it. It feels good. To me it feels the most like Reach out of the past halo games and that's a good thing, I really liked Reach's gameplay. So far I am quite enjoying warzone. I keep forgetting to use reqs and then doing pretty well anyway which is a good sign about the balance (Would type more, but pax is today and I need to get ready and leave shortly so I'll post more later.)
  5. I have now graduated (Bachelor of Computer Science) It's actually more of a "yay the ceremony is in the past" than "yay that was good" but eh It was alright but now that it's past my social anxiety can shut up about it. Once you've had *someone hand you a piece of paper in front of a large crowd of people who immediately forget you* a few times the novelty wears off a bit. Also, Pax this weekend =D
  6. Getting really close now I've been keeping a general eye on your rep as you got closer to it and I'll be making sure to check more frequently now. I'm pretty sure the boundary is gonna be at 8099 but all the same it'd be nice to know for certain.
  7. We had a rather interesting D&D session tonight. A whole lot of crit successes, a number of crit failures, some entertaining wild magic and a number of generally amusing occurrences. In one particular case we snuck into a cave that a group of orcs were staying in. There were 7 orcs and an ogre present and there were 4 of us at that time (we're level 3 atm). As they didn't detect us we got a surprise round before they could act. At the end of that surprise round the ogre was dead, 6 orcs were dead, the orc chieftain had 2 hp remaining and our bard was bleeding out. (None of the enemies ever got to act, the bard was taken out by some unfortunate wild magic, for the second time and in the exact same way as he had been earlier in the session ).
  8. Was too sick to go to the weekly D&D session yesterday, was feeling kinda bummed about it. Then a few minutes after I had made the decision not to go, shadows of self arrived. Not such a bad evening afterall
  9. The way I see it, all that means is that they weren't so incredibly impressed that they were immediately 100% certain that there couldn't possibly be anyone else for the job. I don't see why it couldn't be that they were impressed, but are leaving it open a little longer just in case someone even awesomer comes along.
  10. Sure thing. Will let you know when they arrive. Actually 6 was the base international pledge, and I got 13. To be fair, 5 of that was proxy for other people so really I only got 8 right?
  11. Just went back and checked my notes. I actually ordered 2 with the intention of using them as birthday presents or somesuch (in addition to 5 for others and 6 for me). With the USD-AUD conversion it was just over $25 a set. So if you are happy to pay that much, + a few bucks postage, I can send you a set when they arrive. (And yes, I know I changed my mind from my last post, turns out I was remembering the number of sets incorrectly.)
  12. Got ya covered I also may have been *slightly* overzealous in my backing, that doesn't mean I want to part with any though @Mckeedee, if you find yourself wanting any advice or tips on PBP MAG, just send me a message. Or any of the others really, I'm pretty sure they'd be quite happy to help
  13. My views are pretty close to this. I think most government systems could work fine if the people involved were good enough, unfortunately we're all rather flawed. :/ Regarding guns, I'm an Aussie, unsurprisingly I see our gun control, see the effect and think it works pretty good. I can accept that other cultures may have guns too deeply embedded in them and have too many guns already existing for simplifying changing the laws against them to be effective in the short term. I also accept that other solutions could work. But the current situation rather clearly isn't working well. @Chouta Connoisseur, I've been part of the forums for a bit over 2 years now. The site has definitely changed considerably in that time, some changes better than others, and a lot of people have come and gone in that time. However, the core of the site hasn't really changed, that being that it's a welcoming and friendly community of fans of Brandon's books. So long as that stays the same we'll be fine Separate note: I've sprained one of the tendons leading to my right thumb. Ow.
  14. One of the biggest advantages of using steelministry is that because we are a small site and focused on the MAG we can be a lot more flexible with forum structure. We make a new subforum structure for each new campaign (and subforums within that) which can be a lot nicer to use and navigate than a mammoth thread. The campaign I run has 76 threads spread across it's Character Sheets, Action, Safehouse and General subforums (it has been running for over 2 years). We can also do cool things like limiting access to threads for the purpose of secrets like Kad mentioned. We can also set things up so you're character's stats appear in the sidebar under your name when you are posting in the forum for that campaign, which makes referring to them so much quicker and easier. Those kind of changes aren't really practical for a larger site. As Kad already said, we're not trying to steal traffic from 17s or anything, a lot of us use both sites for different purposes. We just wanted to let you know that the option is there, and you're welcome to join us there if you wish.
  15. Just a few quick comments. -You accidentally wrote brass instead of bronze under powers -It's probably worth adding "(3 charges)" after your misting vial in your props, just as a reminder. -Your drive is really long. It makes sense, but it's generally more convenient to have all your traits as 1-2 words and to keep the longer descriptions about why to your backstory. I'd suggest chopping it back to "Protect Sister", "Family", or "Wealth". Drive is ideally the one thing or concept that keeps your character going when everything seems hopeless, the key thing that drives them to be part of the crew. -Your tragedy is pretty clear but you could be slightly more specific than just "Viva la resistance". Your focus could be on expanding the resistance, raising an army that could do some serious harm, finding a safe haven for the resistance, striking a major blow against the Empire or the Steel Ministry, ensuring the resistance's continued survival or anything else like that. It just gives Mckeedee a little more in the way of inspiration and ideas when planning the campaign, and should help you define your character more Just some suggestions, ignore them if you don't like them Edit: I agree. It's certainly not a bad read and has some interesting bits, but unless the campaign is going to be particularly Terris focused it's not really necessary.
  16. If you start without any powers you get 2 additional traits to make up for it, otherwise you can take additional traits for 4 advancements each during long breathers. You can buy it from crafty's site. Just scroll down to the second product listed there then select digital edition from the dropdown box. You can make a resources roll in-game to purchase another knife. It would be a difficulty of 1 so it won't be too hard to do though it wouldn't be a prop and so you'd need a new one after a long breather. Alternatively Mckeedee might let you take 2 knives as a single prop and basically treat them the same as a sword in combat (+2 damage when you use both instead of +1). That's really up to him to decide though @Mckeedee, a quick suggestion: start with only 1 crew and see how much work that turns out as before adding a second. This is from experience as someone who is running multiple crews simultaneously. It can be really cool but it can also be very difficult and time consuming. Another question that you'll want to think about (if you haven't already) is how you are going to handle dice given 17s's lack of an inbuilt dice roller Will you just roll them all yourself irl and post the results? Edit: Aaand Kad ninja'd me If you make a topic about the MAG there's a small number of people who are almost certain to post in it sooner or later, myself included I too would recommend picking up the digital edition.
  17. Here I am sitting at my desk during a thunderstorm. Not so much doing maths or probability as designing a program (on paper) to calculate probabilities *for* me for an RPG concept I'm working on. Yup. I'm a geek.
  18. You were quite clear Apparently I wasn't All I was trying to say was that sometimes (though obviously far from all the time) some people don't understand why others enjoy something and can be curious as to why they enjoy it. So I was offering to chat about it if that was the case That's all.
  19. We all make mistakes (I certainly make plenty), it's what we learn from them and how we grow that really counts @maxal, if you're ever curious about what I see in videogames that makes me want to develop them as a career just send me a pm. If not, no worries
  20. It amazes me sometimes how people can know so much, and yet be so blind to their own behaviour and circumstances. :/
  21. (This post is intended as some friendly advice, if it doesn't come off that way please tell me. ) I just wanted to note that this may not be the best way to phrase an opinion. There's nothing wrong with having strong opinions of course ( I have plenty ) but this is a fairly aggressive way of stating it which, depending on the sensitivity and touchiness of someone reading it, could lead to an argument. Adding in an "I think" or "in my opinion" would soften it somewhat as the current phrasing is like you're stating a fact, which will often get a rise out of anyone who disagrees as they could take it as you saying that you're opinion was empirically correct and that their's was wrong. Additionally the way you phrased it includes a certain amount of implicit judgement about someone who likes the new season and how they are "wasting" their time and if someone feels like they are being judged they are likely to respond heatedly. You could say something like how you don't enjoy the new season of doctor who and don't really get why people watch it and that you think that Interstellar is significantly better. That expresses the same opinions (though with slightly less punch) but in a way that is more likely to prompt a discussion on the merits (and issues) of the new doctor who season than an argument about whether they are wasting their time. As another example, it's like the difference between me saying: "Sports are a such a boring waste of time." or "I don't find sports particularly interesting or enjoyable." Either way I'd be expressing my personal disinterest in sports, but in the first statement I'm criticizing sports and by extension the people who "waste their time" with it. I'm not saying it was a terrible way of stating your opinion, or that your friends necessarily aren't jerks . I'm just trying to give you a heads up on how this kind of phrasing can cause arguments that you're not looking for.
  22. Options for watching S.H.I.E.L.D season 3 in Australia A: Pay $500+ (no joke) for foxtel to watch it at a 2 week delay B: Pirate it C: Stop caring It's like they don't actually want legal Australian viewers. I'm pretty sure the majority of the SHIELD audience is tech savvy enough to pirate it (little as that requires) and I'd further guess that the majority of their Australian fans have been pirating it already and that was when it was just delayed airing. Now that it's delayed and requires a stupidly expensive subscription I really don't see foxtel making their money back on this. Personally I choose option C. Maybe when they eventually release the DVDs for it I may start caring about it again, but until then it's just not worth my time/energy to care. (GoT is in the same situation.)
  23. My headphone plug broke off inside the port on my computer. It was a pretty good one too. Unfortunately my comp is refusing to play through the back audio ports while something is plugged into the front so I haven't been able to get my speakers working with the plug stuck in the front and I'm not how possible it will be to get the broken bit out. The one fortunate thing is that my headphones had a separate chat channel running through a USB connection that still works so I still have some sound.
  24. You're bound to make some mistakes, but I seriously doubt you'll make any really serious ones After all how long have you had other pugs in the family? Also from what you said of Bruce in the random stuff thread it sounds like he'll be pretty cool about any mistakes you do end up making
  25. Yay! and clearly he thinks he's the right pug for you
