i guess the old gods of the Parshendi are partly the KR. maybe the Spren of the KR can call in more Spren, which then can interact with the Parshendi. the Legion mentioned in the Parshendi Songs was kind of an elite force for the KR. keep in mind, the Parshendi could capture lots and lots of thouse Stormform Spren within days. so they would have used thouse before, in large numbers. so the real enemy in the Desolations, is still out there.

we should keep in mind that arranged marriage is the common and usual thing here. that is also the reason why Shallans father was annoyed about the engagement of his son, i guess. Dalinar makes it a point that he does not want to force Andolin into marriage, which shows that this can be done. maybe this happend to Jasnah and she fought her way out of it. her having children could have been very high on Gavilars list of priorities, because it would keep the throne in his familiy, if something should go wrong.

WoB Parshendi can become KR - it is just very unlikely and never happend.

if the stormform parshendi summoned the everstorm, then i think they are not the voidbringers. the voidbringers seem to be some kind of creature, which was encountered in the past. if thouse stormform parshendi were the voidbringers, they could have summoned the everstorm in the past. so this stormform is either something new or the number of parshendi in stormform was never high eough to summon the everstorm

i think we do not have the right understanding what it means to be a women in the Alethi society. for example, when Shallan reaches the Shattered Plains, she is invited by Dalinar to stay in his camp. this seems logical to us, but she is not just invited to stay as a guest, but it is implyed, that she will be one of Dalinars scribes. However she places herselfe with another high prince, but she will be still a scribe there. this shows that there is a real need for scribs, and what do you need most? scribes you can trust. so when an Alethi women marries its commonly accepted and required for her to become the "head" scrib of her husband. that she keeps the books for the familiy, and maybe to manage the house. Jasnah has a very different life in mind. for her its most importand to be free of all thouse obligations, because she wants to be a scholar. even more, a traveling scholar, to research all kinds of sources. all thouse things which are importand for Jasnah cant be done by an Alethi man. thouse cant be scholars, unless they become ardents or "heretics"!?.(this is actualy very interesting with Amram, but thats another topic) therefor Alethi men are only limiting for Jasnah, they would steal her freedom to travel alot, her time to work on the things she thinks are importand. she would be required to have children, thouse would limit her even more. Shallan seems to realy want to be Jasnahs ward, if she would marry, this might be no longer possible. because she could no longer follow Jasnah Jasnah is hunted from the things she saw Szeth do, when he killed her father. so she made it her mission to learn all about it, and doing/trying that she found out about the "voidbringers" --- i dont think Gavliar abused Jasnah - this would make her missing much less likely maybe it was someone else if at all.

we know that there was interaction between Pattern and Shallan in her childhood. so i wonder what happend to Pattern. was he the glowing Monster locked in the save? maybe Shallans brothers let him out by accident in the early WoR timeframe? we didnt see Pattern at all in tWoK(in the physical realm), so why did he come back so late? - was he dead? maybe accepting, living in truth with youreselfe, is an requirement for Shallans order? maybe Shallan killed Pattern, because she forgot. choose to forget?

Shallans book is over, so i dont think there will be anything like flashbacks. But a investigation into all the known KR is overdue. which could provide answers

So how many secret societies do we have at this point?
Crysanja replied to synobal's topic in Stormlight Archive
you can add the assessins to the Diagrammists. at least Graves spoke about the Diagram, but it might be a splinter group.(Danlan?, Moash?,Rill?)chapter 46+84 -
lets see who can do better then Shallan =) enjoy

idk how you can agree with Renarin, that it is a good idear to join the duel. unless he could see the outcome of the duel, with him joning and without doing so. its not like they cant hurt each other, and the opponents have nothing to loose. if he can see alot of things from the future then it changes things. but just from a normal perspective, thouse things are silly and dangerous.

joining bridge 4 is again something without any thought to his obligations. it is propably good for him, but what would happen, if Adolin is somehow prevented to succeed Dalinar as Highprince? Dalinar fears Assassins could go for his family. what if Andolin dies on a gemheart run? or in one of thouse duels? they allready have a weak footing with the High court. and with the core of their army gone? if Renarin would become sole heir - playing/joining "slaves" how should this work out? ok as "known" Radiant it is something else, but its not like he knew. with a few tiny little changes to the storyline, he could be the Highprince, and successor to the Kingdom allready. (no Kaladin - Sedeas reteat killed Dalinar/Adolin), and the revolt at Kolinar killing the current successor. you all say he is intelligent, some say very. but he seems not to use it alot.

What questions should I ask Brandon?
Crysanja replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
i think you should ask only questions, which do not spoiler the book too much - best not at all =) the book is not out long, so give ppl a chance =) -
Shallan send Pattern to help Renarin in the duel, maybe the opponent didnt hear the Shardblade at all. i think you protect Renarin too much. there are several things, Renarin did which could have turned out horribley wrong. for example, if his opponent in Adolins duel would have realy fought Renarin, he could be dead/crippled(ok he could heal from the Shardblade, but he does not know that) Renarin knew he couldnt realy fight in there, idk what he thought joining. he also prevented someone else from joining/helping. so he was very lucky. with the spies from Sedeas wife around, the numbers on the wall could have gone very bad too. or just think about the paranoid King. comming forward as surge binder could have turned the Highprices to Dalinars favor. this could have saved the Kingdom, turned the war.(potentiualy saving thousends of lifes) (or not who knows ) later at the Parshendi battle he went alone to defend a bridge. he cant realy fight and is doing it again. being a high ranking nobel - in this case, even high up in the succession to the throne, means obligations to the ppl and his family. so dont get into mortal danger if you can help it - especially if you cant do much. tell his fam about his surgebinding, even if its bad - what if it would force him to go bad all the way? and he never told anyone? he has some of the most understanding ppl in the world in his fam, even a world wide accepted heretic. some of the best scholars too. if he would be any lighteyes of lower rank, i would be more ready to agree with you, but he is not.

i agree, the Sister of Eshonai would have advanced to Stormform eventualy, even if they made peace.
-
Zahel is an Ardent. Ardents do no have possesions. so he would need to hide the sword and the fabrical. i think this is unlikely, but i agree that he is more then an Ardent. i dont think Heralds can hide in longterm possitions, i dont think they age. you would see if someone is not ageing for 5-10 years,
after finishing the book i felt like the ending was realy rushed and kind of bad. they are something like 2 weeks at the lost city and what do we get? 20-30 pages? i think the book was way too short there. guess Brandon run out of pages. - no investigation into the KR - no Kaladin-Sly confrontation - he nearly "killed" her, did kill her - there are lots of new potentional windrunners - but we just mention them, using Stormlight, by "accident" - the death of Sedeas - this just felt cheap if you asked me =( - without any thoughts or considerations of Shallan, she tells/shows everyone that she has a Spren(before the Oathgate) - i dont like thouse "none-pov" chars haveing povs in the big parts - like Araman, Teft, Moash ... couldnt he put them into some epiloge part? - Kaladin rushing away, no considerations about opening more Oathgates(hes the only one who could do it quickly(there was one spoilered in Kolinar i think)) thouse thing all show me how rushed this ending was. it just feels unfinished. in the middle/end of the book, when Dalinar played sick, i was missing chapters of him badly. he felt kind of forgotten.(parts cut out to make room for the rushed ending.) --- im kind of sad that no pov char died at all. Brandon made thouse huge words - "no one is save", but its like everywhere else. the heroes are save, nothing can happen to them. they dont even get realy hurt. loosing a pov char would make room for new ones in the following books. would this be so bad? --- however, if you dont look at the ending of this book, it liked it alot, shame i have to wait so long now to get the next one. i kind of couldnt put the book down until i finished it, that means something too. =)
ah this makes alot more sence. guess i forgot this part you found Raevun was is part of the "words of radiance" book from Shallan? -- about this topic i thought this would be a good start into the discussion. the topic does not spoiler much, Renarin was allways a bit odd, but you will know what it is about =)
-
he just could have done so much. and speaking about his discoverys/problems could have helped him alot too. kind of funny that he dicided to met up with Shallan, Kaladin and Dalinar at the end of the book, up the tower. i have my personal theory, that the book didnt have enough space for some things. like more of Shallans paintings. or more about Renarin.

his actions in this book feel realy odd. i mean he knows what Dalinar goes through in the Highstorms - so why keep everything secret? but he just keeps increasing all the confuision with writing down this countdown on the walls. he propably even has/had more information about it. training/fighting with a screaming Shardblade is not an issue to speak about for him either? but when it actualy comes to fighting he cant do it, but telling about the problem is not an option? ok maybe he didnt breath in Stormlight consiously, but healing his eyesight is nothing to speak about too. hey i dont put on my glasses anymore, im even more odd to run around "bilnd" ! then his box - he propably keeps his Spren locked in it? playing around with it all the time. the next odd action - joining bridge 4, again a crazy action, without an explanation for us. he propably argues hours and hours with Dalinar and Adolin, but never mentioned anything from the above. and he must have way more "oddities" we havent seen, which others know. do you have any insight into him? for me it feels just wrong, like Brandon forgot to finish him.

i dont remember which book it was, but i remember buying it at the first minutes of the release day in germany. idk maybe amazon germany is different but i was realy happy. i did this only once, so it could be just luck, =) no clue if there is a difference, between preorder and buying it like this for kindle. i need to add that this version was slightly more expencive, then the version from one day later. maybe you should tell us from which amazon-shop youre buying, and then ppl from the region can tell you their experiences..

hmm i recived the book on feb. 26 from amazon germany, which send it early on feb. 25. guess once in a while its good to be in germany.

Dalinar think he can help Renarin over his bloodweakness with the Shardplate. this seems much less likely if Renarin would have more then a physical issues/weakness? if Renarin would have long seizures, he wouldnt be able to fight, even with a Shardplate. i guess he might fight with a Shardplate if he had seizures because of physical extorsion, this could be mitigated greatly by the Plate.

there is a difference between peace and war. even between a war and a war were 90% die. so i can see Spren being much less picky at the middle or the end of a Desolation. with lots and lots of ppl dead, then at the beginning of a Desolation. Spren guided by other Spren and KR to bond. i dont think loosing a Desolation is an option for the Spren.

Odiums forces could be much smaller. maybe a desolation is 30-50 years long? highstorms increaseing alot? stronger and longer highstorms alone could kill lots of ppl. now if there are Odium-invasions/incursions too, over a long timeframe, just preventing efficient farming/repairs, could mean lots of dead ppl. i dont think Odiums forces are an even matched force, they will be much fewer, but they dont need food or sustain for a long time. they just spawn and attack. at the moment the Alethi have very few forces to defend theire homeland, most of the military and leadership is at the shattered plains. thouse "undefended" princedoms are an easy pray for Odium. easy to kill lots and lots of ppl. with all thouse Kings and leaders asessinated from Sezth, thouse nobles will have their armies close too. again lots and lots of undefended ppl. maybe this is more a war between spren, or to protect the spren in shardsmere. to contain evil spren, preventing them to "invade" the mortal realm and raise Monsters.
