  1. This is turning into battle for the sandwich Nightblood
  2. I ignore the Sandwich and take the other half of the macaroni, eating it in the corner
  3. Okay good Divergent was an elim. I was crazy worried there for a minute that I was being tricked or something. I didn't get a dead drop message either, so IHAT is probably (not definitely given he's lied before) telling the truth about that. wait a second. ACE wasn't active D2... Is ACE likely to do stylistic rp messages like that? I don't know too much about his SE style. Is there anything else about the rebels we can figure out from Divergent's voting and stuff? He could've thought Argenti wasn't a rebel, but might've just not known or might've been self preservation. (But yeah Argenti probably isn't Axis (aka the Spymaster for those who haven't seen Andor), at least not that Dive knew) I wonder how elims figured out Coder was the supervisor (if they did, could've been a lucky "safe" kill). Because I had no clue. I also find it interesting the elims aren't going for the people that are reducing fog-of-war to increase confusion, bc that's a strategy I see often. I know TwinStorm liked doing that last game (I was elim with him) so that reduces his chance of being elim for me somewhat, although not completely. And yeah great job Coder naming a successor. Thank you for your service to the Empire. Finally Divergent you actually did a great job if you see this, particularly for being elim your first game. Might edit some rp in here or smth in a bit bc I wanted to do rp last game and REALLY want to do some this game, but haven't gotten to it.
  4. i lost the game just by looking at the site.
  5. I'm more inclined towards Szeth tbh - as far as I can tell he kinda vanishes into the background, while Adolin looks like he'll be taking a very active role in the back half, so Szeth's fate could've been changed more easily without messing up the outline. Also the Maya stuff is something he's been building up too much to throw away that fast.
  6. Doesn't sliverism already worship Marsh? Bc Steris says smth like "Such a horrid religion. Imagine, worshipping Death" or smth like that at the beginning of AoL, I don't have the books near to check though
  7. Yeah I've seen this before but I cannot see Egwene turning to the Shadow. This'll prob be controversial but if the Shadow pulled some stunt involving Faile on Perrin, would Perrin turn to the Shadow to save Faile? Bc he literally says in places during the Faile Is Captured By Shaido plotline that if Tarmon'Gaidon happened while he was rescuing Faile it'd just have to happen without him even though he knows he has to be there because he isn't abandoning Faile. So Mat pre-dagger uncertainty, but Perrin afterwards for me bc after the dagger's gone Mat is not turning to the Shadow.
  8. My brother's done that, I was the one who indoctrinated him though. Audiobooks playing all night and all day whenever he's home can do wonderful things for your read count...
  9. Standalone / Series, like Ire said. Also very different tonewise - Mistborn is a lot darker than elantris, it isn't grimdark level by any means but it's still darker. "Quick pitches" essentially: (full disclosure I am bad at these) Elantris: What if the Standard Magic City With Magic People suddenly had the magic break and all the people in it lose the ability for their bodies to heal, and also don't need food anymore, which is seriously horrifying bc if you get an injury it never gets fixed. Mistborn: What if instead of the Chosen One Of Prophecy Fixing The World the world got wrecked instead and now has a seemingly immortal ruler and volcanos spewing ash all over the place and no green plants. Someone else pls supplement these descriptions they are BAD. Or I could've used Sanderson's own descriptions... which maybe I should've done in the first place. Elantris: Story of a man who catches a terrible magical disease, and is thrown into a prison city for those with that disease. He tries to unravel the world’s magic system (which is now non-functional, and potentially the source of the disease) while surviving in terrible circumstances and trying to bring civilization back to those locked in the city with him Mistborn: Heist story about a young woman recruited into a gang of thieves, trained to use magic and to imitate a noblewoman, then used in a plot to try and rob (and hopefully overthrow) the immortal emperor of the world. One part Ocean’s Eleven, one part Lord of the Rings, one part Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, one part My Fair Lady. (Source: Where do I start? – Brandon Sanderson)
  10. What I liked: The worldbuilding is still awesome! Szeth/Kaladin story arc was super fun to read The Contest of Champions was sooo well written The Taln Scene Everything Makes So Much More Sense Now HOID LIVESS!!!! (well ofc I know that from Space Age but... still) Yeah i basically agree with all of these. I barely remember the contest of champions though bc I read it at 4 am, after not moving for 9 hours from one spot on the floor of my room. What I didn't: A Looooot of Buildup Yeah... I found it pretty slow paced at points No More Stormlight?!!! WHYYYYY I was sad about that, but I kinda figured the ending is kinda the empire strikes back of the stormlight archive, and there's still potential for it to come back (Syl => new stormfather foreshadowing) Poor Adolin (he loses his leg, goes through a mental health crisis, then comes home to find that he CAN'T ACTUALLY HE'S TRAPPED IN AZIR, his father is DEAD, his mother is COMATOSE, his wife is TRAPPED in Shadesmar) ok I accept a lot of those but Shallan trapped is just sad. I was rly sad, so I didn't like it, but I liked the writing. I don't like how separated people are at the end of the book. Again, kinda viewed it as the Empire Strikes Back of the stormlight archive. Renarin/Rlain No comment. What I Wonder (if you can answer tell me): Why is Shinovar affected by the Night of Sorrows? No clue How is the next return "the Final return"? Bc the Oathpact now just holds together the spren, instead of being an endless cycle of fighting / defeating, so it won't become an infinite loop again. Basically what Dalinar did - try to avoid infinite loop. Why did Battar join the Heralds on Braize again if she's so corrupt? Battar's corrupt? What happened to Design? Ig probably protected by new Oathpact, but will have to relink back up with Hoid at a later date (indicating Hoid'll come back to Roshar in the back half) Why are Navani and the Sibling comatose? No clue. I need to read at a point in time other than 4 am for good theories What's Szeth even doing now? Being a happy farmer with his new sheep named Molly idk How is the Blackthorn alive? idk. What happened to Dalinar's soul? Went into the Beyond, Sanderson was pretty clear about that, which makes me think there won't be shenanigans. Where's Lift? She wasn't at the Tower? Take everything I said with a very large pinch of salt, bc I missed this moon that so many people are talking about, Sigzil breaking his oaths, and probably other things. So my conclusion from this is I need to reread WaT during winter break. much slower.
  11. Okay, I started looking through messages, and Divergent seemed oddly familiar for some reason. Then I realized something. I think he might be doing basically the same thing I did last game I played (it was my first game and I was an elim) - disguise your mistakes behind being a new player, and try to get random innocents voted out, try to blend into the background while being active, and stuff like that. Disregarding D1 bc that could very easily be town stuff (the vote saving STINK), I'm going to lay out my reasoning. He was first to jump on the Unknown train after TwinStorm (not in and of itself indicative obv, although could've been trying to jump on the train for someone he knew was innocent. But then he claimed confusion about the same train a little bit later. (I couldn't figure out how to direct quote the other thread unfortunately) Again that isn't directly indicative, but inconsistencies aren't precisely innocuous either... Then he tried (and succeeded) in avoiding too close reads of the kill. For v!Divergent, that's just a standard observation, which very much is true, but for e!Divergent that's indicative he either knows who put the name in (unlikely for D2) or put the name in (likely if e!Dive) I'll circle back to that in a bit. (irrelevant info removed) Then there was a ton of Argenti suspicion but no actual vote. I think Experience might've been onto something here - trying to figure out number of elims, while could easily be town, could also be elim. With other evidence, it's indicative. Could be possible kill motivation, bc it's subtle but if Experience came back to it it could start to expose Divergent. So, Lotus, Divergent. Bc at the end of the day, I just don't see an elim, particularly a new one, claiming a strategy source from a flipped elim, but for the record I still want the lying explanation. They could both be elims, but Divergent seems to be playing a deeper game if he is elim, so yeah going to vote for him.
  12. That was what that was about? Huh. That's... odd. Knowing that I'm not the one who sent it (and I'm not stupid enough to put my name as the overlap anyway if I had), why might someone want to raise suspicion about me? Or maybe just general FUD. That was my thought for the durasteel message, but only rebels can send messages. The level to which these seem like bait though... Ooooooh I want that to be what's happening now even though it'd make it so much harder for us to figure it out, so not really, but that sounds coollllll. Huh. That's... yeah that's indicative even though I'm inclined to trust him bc he outright claimed to be taking strategy from a flipped elim. So TwinStorm. Lotus, any explanation? Current vote count: Twinstorm (1) Argenti Ace (1) Kas Kas (1) IHAT Argenti (1) Twinstorm IHAT (1) Booknewt
  13. Yeah I get it. Was more of just including you for completeness' sake. Hopefully you can make some other game! As for the Hoid receiving a message - It could be that the person sending the messages was suspicious he was a rebel, or if he got a different keyword than other people it could be just covering all bases about the people who the sender wasn't certain weren't rebels. So we can't read much into that unfortunately
  14. Honestly, the very fact that he's continuing to do that is what makes me hesitant on voting him. If I were an elim and something I was doing was very, very clearly making everyone suspicious, I'd try to change my behavior somewhat. At least I'd stay off the thread more. So v!Argenti almost makes more sense to me, although I can absolutely see e!Argenti. Still leaning v!Lotus, bc as I mentioned above, the obvious suspiciousness of his behavior (citing getting a strategy from a flipped elim) is a village indicator in my mind, at least for a new player. I like your reasoning here honestly, hadn't considered it before but "that's weird and slightly unfortunate" comes off... oddly. I disagree with the read on the "Rebel Spymaster?" joke, but the rest of that is still odd enough that i'm going to vote for him. Additionally, he brought up the drop box messages, which looks good on the face of it, but could very well be him self-indicating, so I'm not sure that can be read either way. So yeah for now: TwinStorm Yeah I will call it hedging too. I'm bad at making decisions quickly. I need to work on it. I can see where you're coming from for most of the rest of it, although I still question your technique in the pm, bc I have no idea how that was supposed to catch the person who sent the message. (ignore this I couldn't get rid of it )
  15. Yep that's what i think of. I throw a "All cosmere books in one leatherbound" hardback at Ink and embers and grab the sandwich
  16. I release more particularly aggressive butterflies at you, and grab the sandwich from you while you are trying to bat them away. Also youcanthavemysandwich, I keep mentally singing your username as "you can't have, you can't have my sandwich" instead of just reading it normally
  17. Hi, welcome to the shard! I read mistborn first, so I wouldn't necessarily advise against that - you might not get the cosmere stuff at first, but it's still good But yeah, probably what looks best to you. For Way of Kings (abbreviated WoK, just in case you didn't understand above abbreviation), I didn't like it much for like 2 years and would skip the entire book on rereads. I like it a lot more now though. So yeah it's really good, just slow at first. Some people say Elantris is his weakest book, but I like it a lot, and it's a good starting point imo.
  18. Alr. Not going to jump on the Argenti train quite yet, although I am suspicious of him, bc my jumping on the train yesterday for partially similar reasons ended badly, so I want to see his defense first. Argenti didn't get a message, so there are a few possible worlds there. v!Argenti: Elims didn't think was a rebel, which is... unhelpful for narrowing down elims bc everyone who was active seemed to be suspicious of Argenti yesterday except for Worldhopper, who didn't mention him one way or the other. e!Argenti: Either sent message and doesn't want to self-claim, or didn't send message so said no to avoid being wrong. Or for either world, if he didn't send the message, wasn't active enough to get a message sent to him.
  19. that sounds like something Wayne says for some reason
  20. Yeah, that's fair. Frankly, if I were an Elim giving a reason, I would... not cite a flipped Elim as my reason, so the suspiciousness of that makes me think v!Lotus. Could be deepwolfing, but it's still early for that, and a new player's not likely to do that anyway. So Lotus. @CoderDrag0n8, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the game.
  21. I didn't get it, so it's possible elims are narrowing in on who they think is more likely to be an elim. Lotus is acting very concerned that suspicion'll build on him (dm'ed me asking about why I said he felt off) which I can't decide if it's a wolf trying to hide or a genuine new player. I really hope there aren't 5 rebels left (going off the hypothesis of 6) bc if so they achieve parity in one day, assuming we don't find someone and no friendly fire on their part. So... yeah this game is going to be hard. Back to reads (with screaming in helpless confusion removed): Hoid Slayer, Argenti, -ACE-, could be purposefully staying out of thread, particularly Argenti bc they've been active but haven't done much. But I'm hesistant to use that reasoning again bc we just used that reasoning for Unknown. No clue for anyone else - mostly positive, but that can't be true can it. So maybe Lotus, at least until I get some better reads. Yeah... I was so sure it was Experience then I was so sure it was Unknown and... nope to both apparently!
  22. Nope. Mhm. To make some noise. alr. Leaning increasingly more village for Experience, bc out of the blue vote draws attention, which is bad for elim, and also had the correct answer to my question. Doesn't eliminate deepwolf worlds, but it's enough for now in my mind. Leaning more village for Doc too, which kinda solidifies my vote bc I have no good leads except in deepwolf worlds, so suspicious is the best I have rn. I need to stop being so trusting of everyone's reasons why they're innocent...
