    Just so that no one's surprised, I have begun school last week, and so I won't be nearly as active as I was during the holidays. I have a little time to Shard before school, and by the time I come back, all you Americans and near-ish timezone folks will either be asleep, or about to sleep.

    So I have a (mostly) working 2D JS gravity simulation.

    Now I'm trying to create a solar system in it, but it keeps falling apart.

    I can get a stable system with a star and one planet, but as soon as I add a second planet, one of three things happen:

    a) The planets collide

    b) One of the planets crashes into the star

    c) One of the planets gets ejected from the system

    So I took a break from that and instead tried creating a star-planet-moon system. Faced the same problem; the moon either crashed or escaped its planet.

    Though perhaps this is because the mass of the 'star' is only 31 times that of the planet, which makes it too much like the 3-Body Problem.

      I meant the velocities are proportional

      But looking at my code, I don't think I wrote it right...

      I have school soon, so when I get back I'll fix that

      Yeah, but if one of the objects is more massive than the other, then the smaller body gets more velocity

      I searched some random characters in Member Search, then removed those characters and searched again. I had a list of all members on the Shard.

      Then, I could sort by join date, post count, rep, or name.

      I was on the 5th page for post count, and each page has 24, and I was the 7th on that page. So 127th.

    Well, I guess I should make a 2025 reflection post too.

    For me, it was a great year. I finished the Cosmere in May, after starting it proper in December 2024, and I would relive 2025 just so I could read it again for the first time.

    And not to mention joining the Shard and meeting all you wonderful people. I'm drained right now - I've been travelling the whole day - so I'll mention folks tomorrow when I have a lower chance of missing a bunch of people. 

    I hope ya'll had a good 2025, and even if you didn't, well, there's a good chance 2026 will be better
