  1. In WaT, all of the chapter titles seem to appear elsewhere in the series. Here is what I could figure out: That Which He Must Not Know. Back cover text of Oathbringer. Their Homes Become Our Dens. Death Rattle. The Price of Survival. Unknown. Oaths and Light. Unknown. The Pleasure of Bleeding. Unknown. The Worth of a Life. Quote by Hoid. Fear What is Coming. Quote by Lord Ruler? Puppet. Could be many places. The Third Way. Unknown. The Choice of Honor. Death Rattle. Ten People, With Shardblades Alight. Death Rattle. The Suckling Child. Death Rattle. The Burdens of Nine. Death Rattle. Words. Could be many places. The Light We Kindle Ourselves. Unknown. A Man Stands on a Cliffside. Death Rattle. One of Them Will Destroy Us. Back cover text of The Way of Kings. The Tower, the Crown, and the Spear. Death Rattle. To Weep for the End of All Things. Death Rattle. Night of Sorrows. Could be many places. Light Flickering in the Darkness. Quote by Renarin. Some of the ones that I marked as unknown I vaguely remember reading, but could not find anywhere. Does anybody know where they are referenced before?
  2. "Do you know why Cep appeared... um... wherever he did?" @Kaladin Stormcursed
  3. "Why do you keep popping up everywhere?" @Kaladin Stormcursed
  4. This is also official artwork showing Taln's Honorblade:
  5. I'm pretty sure the book describes Dalinar as slipping through Retributions grasp until he was gone, which seems clear that he passed into the Beyond. Cultivation is definitely the most likely one to have claimed him before he passed on, with the amount of meddling she did with him. With the ability to see exact replicas of the past, it is theoretically possible to bring someone back even after they passed to the Beyond, though it would be extremely difficult. They could never be exactly the same, but they could be really close. Kelsier was the best example of how this would work, though he still existed as a Cognitive Shadow.
  6. It's possible that Hoid was not able to feasibly travel fast enough to Roshar to make it to those events, or that those events were not important for him in particular to be at, since he might not have been able to impact their outcome. I don't think that it was due to Change as Hoid was shocked when he learned of it in Rysn. I also doubt he would take an oath with a Shard as he definitely tries to remain free and unaffiliated, especially one that might hinder his assistance of a place that he cares for so much. I think that the most likely reason is that some other important event was occurring in the Cosmere at those times.
  7. Each God Metal has an intrinsic ability in addition to its abilities in the Metallic Arts, which we do not know for the ones you listed above (Atium, Lerasium, etc.). These do not appear to follow a pattern or be particularly related to the Shard's Intent, so it is hard to predict what other ones might do. Brandon has indicated that Devotion and Dominion would have a combined God Metal (Dorium?). The only thing that we could really guess about God Metals is their Hemalurgic effects. I would postulate that Raysium steals emotions when used as a spike. While not particularly useful, this could be interesting to see in a character.
  8. In a specific matchup between Elantrians and Dalinar, he might have an advantage due to this, but Elantrians are generally more powerful than him. I would argue that Szeth is more powerful than Dalinar as well. If you wanted to expand the list, you could add Marsh, Wax, & maybe Xisis.
  9. "Well, we've already talked to Rebus. Anybody else?" Utility is at the party, talking with Scale: Kiri (@The Shattered Cosmere) was also in the cave with Cep when he appeared, and I believe is still at the party.
  10. Taeidin grins. "Best to start where you woke up. You said there were others there too - are any of them here?"
  11. Thank you for the clarification. I was uncertain as to whether that was specific to spren or not. That makes the creation of an Ironeyes being more plausible, assuming Marsh appears in a state of pure Investiture at some point.
  12. "Oh... oh this is interesting... not at all what I expected." After watching the Thread for some minutes, Taeidin took some stones and began stacking them on top of one another. He observed the final result and noted that Rebus could end his Thread Awareness. He also noted that this was the first time his findings appeared in the posts if he did not talk about them. "I should have assumed that would happen. Take me back, please."
  13. That's a very neat connection to make! For an Ironeyes spren to be created, I think that he would have had to appear as a separate entity to Marsh within the Cognitive or Spiritual Realm. We don't know of any instances that this happens, but we know next to nothing about what Marsh did between the Catacendre and mb era 2, so it is possible. I don't know if it would have to occur on Roshar, since that is the only place where Invested entities are influenced by thought, or if it could happen elsewhere. As for being a contesting champion to the Blackthorn, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't pick Marsh himself, if not someone more powerful or better suited. I also don't think that Brandon would do that, as a contest like that is bound to be a major climax, and the character for the "good" side participating should be someone who we feel attached to and can emotionally grow, not a replica/spren. I'm sure there are also many other people across the Cosmere who are "legends" in this way as well.
  14. Georgia, who had prepared an army of ninjas for a land invasion of Arkansas, was very saddened to see that Arkansas was now on the other side of a sea, and they did not have enough floaties for all the ninjas.
  15. Taeidin, now on the ceiling, reorients himself. "That's Narrating. I was theorizing on a fifth fundamental force, similar to gravity, that can permeate a second dimension of time, causing us, who exist in the first temporal dimension, to align with the thoughts of the Authors, who exist in both, by their time weaving closer and further to ours. I commented that we would not be able to use this connection the other way to manipulate the Author's existence since we exist in linear time." He pauses. "It would like to get down now." Taeidin's theory is plausible, but horribly inaccurate.
  16. No, I believe that Taravangian, as Odium, now represents both sides of the deal, and so he may choose to void it without facing any consequences. Cultivation definitely would have known if TOdium was breaking the deal by destroying Kharbranth, and mentioned or used that. It was a purely emotional decision for Taravangian, which makes it all the more powerful an example.
  17. I had not considered that when I said it. Being a deadeye is definitely an interesting take that could happen, and would be really interesting to see. In addition, it would probably not be in the Physical Realm in a recognisable form, if at all, so it could be hiding that way. Solid theory.
  18. I don't think that there could be a 4th modern spren, because we would know about it at this point. The Stormfather, Sibling, or Heralds would have mentioned it, assuming they knew about it, and I cannot think of any motivation of Honor or Cultivation to keep it a secret if it could help their cause.
  19. Taeidin blanches for a second, then recovers. "Oh - like an avatar of the Author?" Taeidin nudges Cep. "Hey, that means you could ask him about the voices and your memory."
  20. Reading over that scene, it looks like Pozen is saying that the Lifebrother is the spren of the soil, and the Heralds follow its direction, as well as those of the other spren (like the spren of mountains, sun, and moons). Stone Shamanism and Vorinism do have some overlapping features, so it is entirely possible that the Lifebrother is a Vorin figure, just not in a sect that we are familiar with. Given how soil only exists in Shinovar, though, he may not have been saying that the Lifebrother is a spren of soil as it would initially appear. I do think that it was mentioned enough, but obscure enough that Brandon could pull a reveal that it was the 4th primeval spren, so a viable option.
  21. Taeidin sits down and begins to think. After a while, he speaks. "So, it would have to be a second dimension of time... but it would have to connect in a lot of points. Oh, like a sinusoidal! And for the interactions to work, it would mean a fifth force! Would it have a carrier... no, I don't think it would; it would be like gravity. But the other ones wouldn't permeate through. Not very useful to manipulate, but neat, nonetheless." Taeidin jumps as the figure appears. "Who are you?"
