On Friday, I finished up my reread of the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. I was excited, because that meant I could start work on this one library book and The Eye of the World. Then, on Saturday, my aunt lent me Jhereg by Steven Brust. Help.

I went on a eight-mile hike yesterday, which I think is more than I've hiked in several years, maybe even in my whole life. So I'm proud of that. Also, the slot canyons were absolutely gorgeous, and the weather was amazing. But now my knees, shoulders, and hips hurt like Braize. Like, it literally hurts even just getting up from a chair.

Seconded! Also, the Riyria Revelations series by Michael J Sullivan. They're absolutely amazing fantasy novels; maybe not on the level of Sanderson, but still one of the few I've enjoyed as much as one of Brandon's. They've got a more "medieval Europe" feeling than most, I think, and a wonderfully well-done conspiracy plot throughout the whole series. They're marvelous.

It's finally (more or less) all done! Regrettably, I don't have a before pic, but rest assured this was one of the most cluttered areas of the entire house. Behold, the fruits of my labor! I moved the bulky printer/scanner/copier to a different location (it's still yet to be set up again, though), cleaned up all the loose papers and trash, organized everything else, and generally scrubbed everything very hard. What you can't see is the computer, which I also scrubbed very hard and dusted (not as thoroughly as I'd like, but it was cold out and I didn't have the proper know-how/tools for a full deep-clean. The more-or-less bit is because, while the cords are pretty much done, the area down by the power strip might need a bit of sorting.

Yeah, it was hard work, but it is so worth it. Anytime. Actually, thanks for the reminder -- I recently hit 30K myself, and so after I get my room cleaned up (looking forward to that, not) I need to start making a concerted effort to churn out more wurrds.

You know you're officially an adult (or maybe just crazy) when you're excited about cleaning. I completely cleaned out our computer desk, wiped (most of) it down, and reorganized all the components. The wires are still a bit of a mess, but I'm working on that now. I feel so accomplished. But probably not as accomplished as you. Yay Twi!

$200 in quarters. I need the money, and one guy I know of actually kept like $10K in coins buried in his yard as a sort of just-in-case. Would you rather tick off Khriss or Hoid?

It was his birthday just a few days ago. He popped in and said hi. Don't know what he's doing now, though.

The music itself was pleasant, though as I didn't understand a thing she was saying I just tuned that part out and had it in the background while I did other things. But I did like it.

I have never been more confused or amused while reading writing advice. Be warned, though, that there is a bit of foul language. Not much, but some.

So I just read this article: You're Not Messing Up God's Plan for You The takeaway I got from it was that God isn't going to send you down some random path (like say "no, go get certified as a mechanic" when you wanted an English degree), but that you should do what you want to -- but do it with God involved. I'm curious to see what y'all think about it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Frankly, I do mostly want it for the cool factor -- it can write in space, and it was used by the Apollo astronauts? Storms yes I'll take one! But it also looks like a decent pen in its own right, so. We'll see.

Eh, I'll take all the free pens too -- but it's really fun when you can get a work of art like a Waterman.
