  1. From what we know, Odium doesn't seem like the most reasonable of entities. I mean, he's killed several Shards without any provocation. I don't think he'll be very empathetic to a "we just want to live" argument.
  2. The other systems, as far as we know, also didn't assist with trapping him and keeping him trapped. I'll bet he really hates the humans on Roshar.
  3. Because he hates the people who trapped him, who thwarted him. Also, let's not forget that Cultivation is still around.
  4. It could just be a matter of scale. Giant, 30 foot tall crustaceans grow gemhearts which are maybe a foot in diameter. It's possible that listeners grow gemhearts, but they're not large enough to justify the cost of extracting them.
  5. May Aladar? Wouldn't that more appropriately be Vivenarin?
  6. Well, that one came from right before he started work on Part 5, so Adolin, Jasnah, and Navani are probably locked in. He said the "few others" would be too spoilery to mention, so I'm thinking it's probably Nale. Szeth and Lift don't seem that spoilerish to me because we've already had their viewpoints before. Nale though... I think fandom would explode if he confirmed we were getting lots of viewpoints from a confirmed Herald in this book.
  7. Yes. The paper isn't as thick. I think Peter posted about it on Reddit recently. Edit: here you go:
  8. So I think I found the WoB you were using: That doesn't seem like he's confirming Szeth and Eshonai as tertiary characters in Oathbringer. To me, it looks like he's saying they're flashback characters in the first arc but don't get as many viewpoints as Kaladin, Dalinar, and Shallan, so in an outline of books 1-5 he'd have them listed as tertiary characters. He does confirm Jasnah, Adolin, and Navani as tertiary Oathbringer characters though. So Navani is getting a larger role. Not sure who the 4th one is. I doubt it's Elhokar because if he's with Kaladin, it'll just be too many viewpoints in one area. I also doubt Renarin since Brandon has said showing too much of him early on would require a lot of pages (which sounds like secondary or main character status). My top candidates are Lift, Szeth (bolstered by this WoB, even if he says "scenes" instead of "viewpoints"), or one of the Heralds (probably Nale, since if Szeth is with him, there would be the Szeth scenes which start about 3/4s of the way through).
  9. I get the feeling that an Unmade bonding a person would look very different than the bonds we've seen. I get the feeling that had Re-Shephir actually bonded Shallan, she would've shattered the cracks in Shallan's soul, and Shallan would essentially become a human husk, completely deranged, or a mindless minion. If we use sex as a metaphor for Nahel bonds, I'd say true spren look for consensual encounters while the Unmade are probably all rapists.
  10. No problem, but I still don't see him calling the Diagram his god. I see him call it "holy," so we could think of it as his scripture. Also, he referred to the man he was on his Diagram day as his "god," not the Diagram itself. So he's worshipping Bradley Cooper in Limitless. Putting the "raw genius of a human mind unfettered" on a pedestal isn't something new in fantasy and science fiction. Just look at Mentats in Dune for an example where exacerbated human genius can be used for good, bad, and many shades in between.
  11. Sorry, I meant specifically in Oathbringer. I know Renarin is a flashback character somewhere in books 6-10, but I my question was about why he couldn't be one of the tertiary characters in Oathbringer. Yeah, I saw that. This one: It probably means we're only getting one Renarin PoV, but it stops short of saying there aren't multiple viewpoints so I'm still hopeful.
  12. Do you have a source on Renarin and Elhokar not being tertiary characters? I thought they were still possibilities? Also, I thought there's a WoB which said that Navani would have a bigger role to play in coming events? It's late though, so I'll try to dig it up tomorrow.
  13. Ooooh... I'm not going to be sad if we don't see someone get their shardplate this book.
  14. Mraize seems like the type of character who would have a backup plan for Jasnah's reappearance. I think it's possible he may try to come to an agreement with her. I expect Jasnah to have grown after her recent experiences, so maybe she'd be open to an accommodation with Mraize. One of the reasons I'm excited for Jasnah's arrival is that she seemed to know more about the Ghostbloods than we did, and I'm hoping she'll share some of it this time.
  15. I believe that Dalinar can have visions whenever and wherever he wants. Other people, though, need to be in a highstorm in order to receive a vision. Ch 28:
  16. Almost 3 years old! I'll keep my hopes up, even though I now think I probably shouldn't.
  17. Especially because any time they read a name, I'd probably be saying, "Are you sure that's how to pronounce it?"
  18. What if the man is a farmer? Hoid doesn't kill people.
  19. Yeah... I took the whole week off.
  20. What I find most interesting is that the glyphs for the surges on the voidbinding chart seem to be the same as the ones on the surgebinding chart except that one side is flipped upside down.
  21. We're getting a lot more content next week... on Tuesday.
  22. That's not how we work in America. In America, we bribe. You should discretely offer the kid stocking the shelves $500 cash if he can meet you with a copy behind the store. Go to enough bookstores, and you'll probably find someone shady enough to deal. Note: I don't actually recommend doing this. It's wrong. Wait a week like the rest of us poor unfortunate souls.
  23. I imagine it's going to be one of the interludes we're not getting until next week.
  24. I don't remember this WoB. Do you have a link?
  25. I feel like for that to happen, Shallan is going to need a very quick change-of-heart regarding the Ghostbloods. She loathes them, specifically because she thought they killed Jasnah. Unless Mraize produces her brothers very quickly, I see Shallan immediately confiding in Jasnah and taking on the role of a spy within the Ghostbloods.
