If you need my characters, here they are: Fenna Koss Jerrin Tridner Thavel Talin
-
@Ookla the Cutest I just noticed that one of my characters from Era 8 is missing from the list. That would be, Jerrin Tridner, which should be on the Era 8 page somewhere (I can try to find it. EDIT: it's at the top of the Era 8 character thread.) And as a side note, I probably will be dropping Palava, since the UFO plot is not going on.
-
I'm ready to come back! @Ookla the Cutest, are we continuing from where era 8 left off, or are we just resetting and ignoring it?
-
We’ve been kinda dead for a while, unfortunately. I would be up for starting again, but I’m not sure if there’s enough people to keep it running.
-
I’ll take a look! In case you haven’t seen it, we have a character template over on the Era 8 Character Thread. There are a few things on there that you’re missing, so looking at that might help flesh things out a bit more. So far, you have a solid backstory and power set. A few things that would be good to have would be a description of his appearance (currently you only have his age and ethnicity described), a motivation (your character having a goal is important for RPing), and a description of his personality. Taking a look at his power set, I do think it’s probably a bit over-tuned. I’m not the person who makes the final decision on that, but that would be my opinion, looking at it compared to existing characters. A Steelrunner is arguably one of the strongest Metalborn, and combining it with a Radiant is a very powerful combination. (Seeker isn’t too OP, but it is another ability on top of everything else.) If you want to do this, you’ll probably need to add some significant flaws to your character in order to balance this out. Speaking of flaws, this is something else that would be good to add anyway. (These can be personality flaws or physical weaknesses.) Lastly, I would just say, add more details to his backstory. You have a good start, but there are a few things that could be added, like, what was his childhood like? (You kind of skipped to his adulthood.) Where did he live? (The guide to the Alleyverse contains a description of different areas of the city, if you need it.) To me, the biggest missing piece is, how/when/why did he become a Skybreaker? Fleshing out his backstory should also help you figure out other details, like motivation, personality, flaws, etc. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need anything else.

Oops! Forgot to reply to this. (That doesn't bode well lol.) Anyway, yeah, I'm not sure what we could do. The only thing I could think of would be to just ask everyone who's participating if they can continue or not (and if they don't reply, assume that means no.) That wouldn't be a permanent solution that prevents us from fizzling out again, but it could at least let us know if we have enough people to try starting again for now.
-
I haven't been super active, but if other people were on here more, I would do my best to keep up. I think maybe trying to get a consensus of who is able to keeping going with this right now might help? It seems like some people are popping back in here for a bit but end up disappearing again because nobody else is participating at the moment. If we could get people back here at the same time it might help, although it's also possible there just aren't enough of us who are able to continue right now.

All good! Things have been pretty slow around here in general. I didn't have any particular idea in mind. I think I last had Jerrin heading towards New Hallandren.
-
Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Rusts. Fenna forced herself to be calm. She turned quickly, pretending to look around in surprise. "Where?" she demanded, hoping Eza would take the hint and get out. There was only so much she could do for the kid. Fenna turned back to Sunwatcher. "There was an... acquaintance of mine here. I thought she had left," she told him. "Regardless, she shouldn't be a concern of ours." At least, she hoped that was true. Hopefully Eza was smart enough not to try anything against this man. She gave Sunwatcher a quick glare. "And don't be so quick to doubt me," she said. "If I meant you harm, I would have done it long ago."
-
Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar "Very well," Fenna said. "Just a moment." She walked back to the broken bar where she had left the spear she had taken from one of the guards. The whole thing was too large to conceal, so Fenna snapped off the aluminum tip. It wouldn't be a particularly useful weapon on its own, but at the very least it was probably worth something. As she briefly held it up to the light, she caught a glimpse of something reflect behind her and spun around in surprise. Eza was spying on the meeting. Fenna glanced at Sunwatcher, hoping he hadn't noticed her sudden movement, then glared at Eza and shook her head covertly.
-
Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Fenna looked up as the Returned entered the room. "I've made my decision, as I promised," Fenna said, standing. "I will help you. But I have some terms. Firstly, I will not do what you say blindly--trusting a stranger is what got me into this scrape in the first place. If you don't keep secrets from me, I won't keep them from you. Secondly, I will choose my own payment when I am ready. Do you accept?"
-
I’ll get back onto this tomorrow, so that’s one more person. But, yeah, there are a lot of plot lines that are stuck until everyone involved is ready.
-
My school year has concluded, so I am ready to get back into this when everyone else is!

Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Before Fenna could make a retort, the girl was gone. She let out a huff of annoyance and slumped down on the bar stool. That conversation had put her right back where she started--she was as undecided as ever. But maybe she didn't have to decide yet. She could push the decision off until later. Part of her knew that would only make things worse, but she immediately felt relieved that she could wait. Now she just had to figure out what to tell Sunwatcher. @Lord Ruler Sylphrena
-
I’m a bit busy lately, but I do plan on RPing tomorrow. I should be able to get back into things once school is over in a month.
-
I may not get to writing anything today. @Lord Ruler Sylphrena, I believe you're the only one who might be waiting for me, and I'm fine if you want to go ahead with bringing in your character before I go.
-
Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar "I don't know what I want," said Fenna. "But once again, you're wrong about me. I'm not anything like you. You've failed to save people? I've actively hurt people. And I never cared, not until it had already gone way too far. This place was my second chance, and I messed it up again. I'm done. I don't know who I am now, but I can't go back." Fenna twisted the edge of the bar in her hand, and it snapped off, splinters of wood spraying outward. She let the chunk of wood fall to the ground with a dull thud. "So, to answer your question," Fenna said, turning her head towards Eza. "No. That's not what I want. I want to be someone different. Someone who doesn't hurt like this. Maybe that's the person you would call a monster, but I don't care."
-
Things seem to be moving a bit slowly, but I want to let people know that I am planning on posting every Saturday from now on (assuming I have something to RP, and that I have not done so earlier in the week.) This is mainly for my benefit, as I am now committed to doing so since I told you I would, whereas recently I've been a bit inconsistent.
-
Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar "What if I don't care?" Fenna demanded. "It's those people who survive in this world, kid: the people who take what they need. I've tried being 'good', and it didn't work. I never helped anyone. In fact, I probably got a lot of people killed. So why should I care anymore?" She stopped pacing and leaned against the bar, squeezing the edge tightly in one hand. Thav, The Mistwarrens Thav rolled to the side as a gunshot sounded close by. Tapping zinc, he noted that another person had joined the fight and that a third attacker was down. That left two. One of them levelled his gun at Thav and fired. Thav Pushed against the bullet, managing to divert it just enough so that it missed, and scrambled to his feet. The second attacker was still focused on the newcomer, so Thav fired at him. The bullet flew wide of its mark as the Coinshot Pushed it aside. Rusts. Thav had dropped his aluminum-loaded gun after being tackled. It lay on the ground a few feet away. He made to dive for it, but the Coinshot fired again, forcing Thav to Push himself to the side. He landed on the street and fired once more, only for the bullet to be deflected once more. Palava, New Hallandren, IRS Truck Palava slid towards the truck screeched to a halt. One of the unfortunate soldiers slammed into the wall ahead of her, cushioning her collision. She dropped to the floor, her gun flying out of her hand. Shaking her head to clear the stars from her vision, Palava retrieved her weapon and climbed to her feet. One of the soldiers had been knocked unconscious. The other groaned as he struggled into a sitting position, hand on his head. Palava cautiously made her way to the back of the vehicle and opened the door, gun ready. Palava levelled her weapon at the man, eyes narrowed. "Don't move." @TwinStorm @SpiritOfWrath @Stormlightsong

Does Allomancy actually work according to physics?
Steel Speedster replied to M.D. Christainson's question in Cosmere Q&A
Push force is proportional, but not equal, to weight. A heavier person exerts more force than a lighter one, but both can exert force much greater than the force of gravity. -
Because, presumably, you would be able to store each ability individually. You could leave your F-nicrosil at 100% while storing any other abilities completely. If you did try storing your F-nicrosil potency, your storage would become less and less efficient the more of it you stored, so you probably couldn't get to a point where you were storing all of its power at once.

Fenna, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Fenna glanced at Eza as she sat on the windowsill. “Fenna Koss,” she said reluctantly. Fenna began to pace. “Tell me this, Eza: do you really think things are so simple? Are we alike just because we are both Metalborn? Am I unlike Sunwatcher because he is spiked and I’m not? Is Sunwatcher ‘evil’ because he’s spiked? Are we defined so easily?” Jerrin, Smokestack, Jerrin’s Hideout Jerrin leaned over a worn down table in a sparsely furnished room, examining a small stack of newspaper clippings. His hands moved slowly and methodically as he poured speed into his steelminds. He had already read through them a dozen times, but there was nothing relevant to his search. Most of the headlines were about the lockdown in New Hallandren. Over the last few hours of thought, Jerrin had gradually realized he would have to find out more. There had been no word of Hemalurgist involvement, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that whatever was happening there was important. Maybe it would prove a waste of time, but it wasn’t like there was anything important to do in Smokestack. Jerrin stopped filling his metalminds and stood up. Throwing open a cabinet in the corner, he found their stores of electrum. There wasn’t much, but Thav had gone to buy more, and this would probably last long enough. He fastened several vials to his belt, and put the rest in a leather pack, lined with aluminum, along with his mistcloak. He scribbled a hasty note, telling Thav to meet him in New Hallandren. Stepping out into the streets, Jerrin put his electrum on a low burn, showing possible futures a fraction of a second a head. He adjusted the pack on his back and struck out in the direction of the Nalthian district. Thav, Mistwarrens Thav strolled down the street towards Smokestack. His bronze was on, but there were no pulses to detect. The street was perfectly quiet. So quiet that he heard the click of a gun to his right. Thav instantly tapped speed of thought, turning to see a group of five figures in the mouth of an alley, all aiming weapons at him. Based on their stances and equipment, Thav guessed they were Allomancers, though none were burning metals, as there were no bronzepulses. The one in front, leveling a gun at him was likely a Coinshot. The one to the right was a Thug judging by the hefty cudgel. Two of the others were partially blocked from his view, and the last hung back in the shadows. Wait… Thav lurched to the side as the lead Coinshot fired. As the bullet streaked past, Thav smoothly drew his own gun and fired. The bullet, one of the aluminum ones he had just bought, passed between the first four opponents, striking the one in the rear directly in the chest. A wave of Allomantic pulses hit Thav as the Smoker fell. Still tapping zinc, Thav took in the pulses. Two signatures were steel. One was iron. Two were pewter. Two? The first enemy leapt forward, far more quickly than any Coinshot had a right to. Hemalurgist. Though he thought fast, Thav’s reactions weren’t any quicker. He stumbled awkwardly to the side, narrowly avoiding the Hemalurgist’s attack, but he had already decided on his next move. He flicked a coin out and Pushed it at his attacker, shoving them apart. His steelpush’s force dropped off steeply after a few feet, allowing the coin to drop to the ground. But it had bought him the space he needed. Thav released his zincmind, drawing his second gun. The rest of his attackers rushed out to surround him, but with his bronze, he could tell each’s position. He tapped just enough mental speed to track all four positions. In a spinning motion, he fired an aluminum behind him, towards a steel pulse signature, at the same time firing a regular bullet at the Coinshot-Thug in front of him. The pulse behind him went out, but the opponent in front of him Pushed the bullet aside and lunged forward. Thav tapped zinc and lined up his next shot perfectly with the man’s center. He Pushed on the bullet as the Hemalurgist did the same. Perfectly balanced between them, both were shoved back, keeping them apart. Just then, the pewter pulse behind him disappeared. Thav spun, increasing his speed of thought, but it was too late. The Thug tackled him, having turned off his pewter to avoid being tracked. Thav was thrown backwards, landing hard on his back. @Karnatheon

Either way works fine for me. I say just play it by ear. We can have it happen on the edge of the Mistwarrens/Smokestack, so we have that flexibility. I can set the scene, but I think it will have to wait 'til tomorrow.

He's got a hideout in Smokestack.
