Happily, no, but I have heard of people who did, and I feel devastated for them, haha. :)

I’m kind of in this club... I read Alloy of Law before Well of Ascension and Hero of Ages due to some strange reasons and that was just... a bit confusing  Fortunately it didn’t do much harm.

  2. Ha, the Chinese translation of Mistborn is exactly the same as the German one, meaning Die Kinder des Nebels: 迷雾之子, The Mist's Children (Sons) /The Children (Sons) of Mist

It is also interesting that Elend and Straff are actually German words.

A very bad Chinese translation worth mentioning: The Worldhopper Felt from Mistborn series. His name is translated into some like "soft skin/fell" (柔皮), which bemused me a lot.

  3. Perhaps I'm alone, but The Emperor's Soul is my top anticipation, since there are so many artistic and philosophical aspects to explore, which I really can't resist :P

I'm also dying to see any forms of Stormlight adaptation, though it might be harder to be done right.

Wax and Wayne as TV series would be awesome.

  4. I haven't met any Sanderson haters in my life, but they exist online. There's a user who's got quite "infamous" among the fandom here, due to their horribly subjective and negative ratings and reviews on a site which is the analogue of Goodreads, like, they just want to criticize Brandon's books out of no reason and sometimes there're even terrible personal attacks, which really piss me off. Since there're not many people rating Brandon's books here, their bad ratings just influence the overall look, and make people wonder if Brandon is a bad writer. That's just too bad, because they would rate *every book* Brandon writes and give one stars.

Why would they do this? We believe the real reason is that they are a hardcore fan of Jordan's WoT books and dislike Brandon's take to a degree that they must hate every Sanderson book. This really drives us mad but it's just weird, because why would they bother continuing reading cosmere and others? Just take criticizing those books as a hobby, and praising the original WoT books at the same time? Wow, that even earns our "respect". Happy reading those books that you just can't put up with!

About the personal attack part: I strongly disapprove of this. Brandon doesn't deserve this. For this I could fight them everytime.

Heck, I finally found an outlet for my fury, but not quite

"It will form a bridge" - is the Diagram reference in WoR Ch 89 epigraph, to a Parshedi forming a bridge, metaphorical or magical?

Now this is not one that I've seen disproven, but there are a number of people certain there is a WoB confirming it is a 'real' (magical or metaphysical) bridge. Usually theorized to let Odium/his spren escape Braize, but could be anything. BUT we have this WoP from 2015

This is a metaphorical bridge. Basically, the Diagram says it would be super dangerous for their plans if one of the Parshendi formed a Radiant spren bond and became a Radiant. They would be able to bridge the gap between the cultures and throw a wrench into the sequence of events that the Diagram thinks needs to take place.

Now I don't like this answer, and many Sharders are certain it's wrong. But I've seen nothing superseding it. So this would be the second category of 'mistakes'.

Sorry for providing the arguable information! This is actually from my WoR translation notes. I asked the question via e-mail and the quote is what Peter wrote in his reply. I'm not really certain if the answer is right, but I can be sure it's Peter's interpretation given to us translators at that time. (Though whether it's metaphorical or not doesn't influence the translation very much and I didn't pay much attention. My bad.) Maybe I can write to him again and ask for a further confirmation?

  6. Out of my personal interest I would recommend The Way of Kings first, since it has a special place in my heart. Though it is obviously not for everyone. I'll go with The Final Empire for sf/f readers who first discover Sanderson books (according to Brandon's suggestion), The Emperor's Soul for general readers. Why choosing TES? Because it is quite standalone and is received EXTREMELY well here in China, in case you didn't know. Seriously, I haven't even seen any meh comments in the community. It seems that everyone I met loves it. Brandon's story and his understandings of Asian cultures really blew our mind.

But for those who decide to fully dive into Brandon's world, I would advise them to read books according to the publication order, so that they can see Brandon's growth as a writer, which is amazing, at least for me =) (BTW my first Sanderson book is Elantris, but it didn't prevent me from getting to love the whole universe.)

  7. IIRC Brandon once said he and Rysn will keep appearing in the books (at least in the first arc, couldn't find the WoB right now) since they are always travelling and introducing the worldbuilding. The best guess is that these two become regular interlude characters and get their chapter(s) alternatingly. (We have Axies chapter in WoK and Rysn chapter in WoR. So maybe Axies will have screen time in Oathbringer? And Edgedancer also reveals new info on Aimians.)

Axies is one of my favorite characters in SA. I'd love to see him more!
