    Sometimes, I worry I'm not the person everyone thinks I am.

    My friends all assure me that I'm being silly, that they know I'm a great person. But I still wonder if they are wrong. So many people think me smart, and funny, and nice. They say I do great things. What would they think if they knew that he -- the good, reliable friend -- doubted himself?

    Perhaps they wouldn't be shocked at all. In a way, this is what worries me most. Maybe, in their hearts, they wonder -- just as I do.

    When they see me, do they see a liar?

    Matt lay on his bed after the reaping. Why did Jason have to get chosen? He's only nine! I should have gone in his place. Matt sighed, then picked himself up. Was this what it was like for the districts before the rebellion? The poor kid's going to get murdered in that arena. Matt walked over to the TV and watched while Jason stumbled around the arena.
