  1. No rush! We can live with a quiet couple of weeks.
  2. Man, you guys must all be really busy writing for NaNoWriMo because it's been a really quiet couple of weeks here. Anyone want to submit tomorrow?
  3. One submission so far for Monday.
  4. Yeah, I figured that was why it was getting slow around here.
  5. You got dropped? Odd. I wonder if I cleaned it out during one of those supposedly-yearly "reply to this email if you want to stay on the list" things I do? Anyway, I'll re-add you. Edit: Just got another message from someone saying they got dropped and needed to be re-added, so maybe there's something going on there.
  6. Go ahead, Mandamon. Juugatsu, I've got you down for Nov 3.
  7. You two are the first to ask so far, so unless there's a huge outpouring of interest between now and Monday you'll likely both be good to go.
  8. Oh, I apologize! That's why I always repeat this stuff, so people can call me out when I miss something. Commandante Lemming, Mark, and Molah so far.
  9. Commandante Lemming and Mark so far for Monday. Mark, it probably won't be a problem unless there's a lot of interest between now and then--just keep an eye on this thread in case I do need to ask anyone to delay.
  10. The very thought of trying to be productive between 10pm and 4am induces post-traumatic flashbacks to my graduate school days.
  11. Huh. I guess I wasn't paying as much attention as I thought I was. Serves me right for trying to be productive before 8am...
  12. Shouldn't be a problem, Molah. Also, sorry for the delay, guys, but Ash and Robinski, I meant to check in on this thread last night and tell you to go ahead.
  13. Yup, the rights grabs are always a bit of a concern (I refuse to post most of my original songs on Youtube for the same reason!) Much of it is, as Mandamon points out, there so that Google can move stuff around and actually provide the services they offer, because, good ol' copyright laws being what they are, it'd be pretty much impossible for them to do that WITHOUT granting themselves sweeping licenses to make copies. And yes, Google is no worse (and yes, better than, say, Dropbox, last time I checked either company's ToS) than most of the other companies out there. Plus, given that we're all working with the written word it's less likely that Google would be interested in using any of our stuff anyways... but the licenses they grant themselves are fairly broad, and typically irrevokable. Always important to keep that stuff in mind.
  14. *giggle snort* Ahem. What? Mark: Since it's pretty easy* to download a Word/open office/whatever file from a Google doc anyway, I don't really see why that shouldn't work--objections, anyone? * Also, I say this as someone who doesn't use Google docs much myself, so if I'm somehow mistaken about this and you'd really rather just download a Word attachment than shed three drops of blood and dance in a circle under the light of the waxing moon, or whatever else Google docs requires people to do that I don't know about before they can access Docs files, uhh, correct me and I'll revise my answer accordingly. Since you mention Google docs, and since it hasn't really garnered much of a response so far, I should also point out that there's been some recent discussion about switching submission methods to Google drive. A basic description of how that would work and the benefits are described in the thread I just linked. As far as I know the "test" Drive folder (see what I did there) is already up and running--though EndurantArchivist, who took the initiative to set it up, may correct me on this one--I've asked the people interested in exploring it or who already know they'd prefer submissions in that format to treat it as an "extra" for now, since I don't want to implement any changes to submission style without more feedback from other RE members. tl,dr; Yes, that's proably fine, and also, check out this thread.
  15. There's still one slot available, Ash, so I'll put you on the list for now. Since you did submit last week, I'll ask you to just keep an eye on this thread until the actual submission date rolls around--the same goes for Robinski since he's been submitting fairly frequently. Just in case there's a burst of last-minute interest and I need to ask somebody to step back.
  16. So that's Tal, Mark, Molah, and Robinksi for Monday, four slots so far (unless, Molah, you meant the following Monday the 13th rather than the upcoming Monday the 6th. I wasn't quite sure, so just correct me if I'm wrong). As for where to split it up: just try to find a place that you think works well as a stopping point (often a chapter or scene break) without worrying too much about the length of the individual submission, provided that each one falls under the 5k word limit or comes reasonably close. A submission that's 5600 words instead of 5000 words isn't going to raise any hackles, just make sure to keep it reasonable.
  17. Not a problem--just remind me what your email address is (either here or DM, whichever you prefer). Good luck, and if things change in the future, you're always welcome back here.
  18. Dammit and my stockades won't actually be ready for stockading until next week.
  19. Gonnna throw this out to the rest of the group, since it's been a slow week. Anyone mind a late submission?
  20. Welcome back, Mark! You're certainly welcome to post tomorrow if you'd like--in fact I think you're the only one submitting so far, since Tal said he's interested in submitting next Monday. Which means there are still four slots available for tomorrow and four slots available for next Monday.
  21. It appears that the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated! ...Ahem. Yup, still alive (cue Portal music). I didn't know that was in question, actually. Hi! Long time no see, etc.
  22. Yup, slow week, go right ahead.
  23. That's fine, there's no rush
  24. No problem! You're on the list.
  25. No worries, life happens! Go ahead and submit this week, you're only the third so far.
