  1. Ok, thanks! That should be an interesting read.
  2. So, I recently finished reading all of Stormlight and Mistborn, and I was thinking. As a planet, Scadrial is the second in the Cosmere (after Autonomy's home planet) to have electricity and gunpowder weapons. They also have battleships and rockets. In addition, the number of Allomancers has increased, as well as the number of metals. The Ghostbloods/Kelsier's Organization are ready to protect Scadrial at all costs, and are even prepared to go against Harmony (Sazed). They have huge amounts of funding, manpower, and resources, not to mention bottled Investiture. They have agents in many/all branches of Scadrial's society, and in other planets across the Cosmere as well. Roshar, due to Desolations and Highstorms, has not progressed nearly as far. Though they have an easier way to collect Investiture through spheres, their technology is lacking. Soulcasters and fabrials, though powerful, are not as widespread as the use of electricity on Scadrial. Rosharian weapons are still Midieval-level, with the majority being spears, swords, and bows. Shardblades and shardplate are unmatched, but the number of sets is limited. However, Roshar also has the spren, which can bond to its people, allowing them to use Stormlight. Once the Radients progress far enough in the Ideals, they get their plate and blades as well, increasing the overall number. On the other hand, the Highstorms prevent the construction of tall buildings such as skyscrapers, as well as inhibiting trade and travel on land, air, and sea. I also believe that Roshar has the easiest access to Shardsmar through Radient powers. Overarching all the books, the Shards are playing a complex and dangerous game with the Cosmere. Will Odium win the contest of champions, eventually establishing dominance over the Rosharian system as a base to destroy the other Shards and control the Cosmere? Will Kelsier, for the good of Scadrial, deploy his agents to sow chaos, kill important figures on other planets, or even go as far as to injure/disable Harmony? Will one of the characters use a Dawnshard to alter the Cosmere, or reforge the broken shards? Will Adonalsium be reborn? Will the different planets, spurred on by the Shards, fight each other in a huge battle for superiority? Or will Hoid, as the Cosmere burns, sit watching and play his flute? I think that the different planets will eventually connect and interact on a much larger scale than what is currently happening, and conflict will occur. It would be cool for the characters to all team up to save the universe. (I really would have liked a Lopen+Wayne combo). Of course, having only read 2 series, my knowledge of the Cosmere is limited. But what do you guys think?
  3. Yeah, Taln's resistance to breaking for so long gave humanity way longer to recover then previous Desolations. I believe at some point things were so bad that there were only a couple years (maybe even just one) between Desolations. While I don't believe that Fabrials are a big factor in the overall scheme of things, I do think they help the humans free up time and energy to do other things. This is also a big point. The largest and most devestating wars on Earth lasted for decades. (30 years war, 100 years war). Even shorter ones such as WWI and WWII, though only 4 and 6 years respectivly, were devestating because they were world-wide. On Roshar, there isn't fighting on all fronts everywhere, just around a few specific countries/areas.
  4. Love the casual setting and seeing how your art has grown and developed throughout time. Truly excited to see what you will create in the future!
  5. Another idea would be using warlight spheres and dropping them from the Fourth Bridge or other airships to essentialy create the Rosharian version of a bomber plane.
  6. Just took the quiz and was told I'm a Stoneward. Surprisingly, the Stoneward summery is super close to my real life. The 2nd and 3rd closest orders were Skybreakers and Windrunners. Thought it was funny that while the results of the poll were a lot of Truthwatchers ~30%, that was my lowest category. Stoneward-74% Skybreaker-70% Windrunner-65% ... Truthwatcher-17%
  7. Lift is just her own kind of special.
  8. Yes, that would make sense.
  9. In Oathbringer, when Dalinar opens the perpendicularity and rejects Odium, he says Is there any significance to why "Unity" is capitalized? Is this important, or just a proper noun?
  10. I would like to see it preformed in Texas, since that's where I'm from. IDK if that's considered fully southwest. Probably Austin.
  11. I hope to have it published within a few years. Only problem is having enough people and props to actually get it done.
  12. Sabaton: the Swedish power metal band. All their songs are about historical people or battles. They are considered one of the "big four" power metal bands alongside Helloween, Blind Guardian and DragonForce. Some of their best songs are "Immortal soldier," "to Hell and back," and "Bismark."
  13. I tried to use Hoopla, but it doesn't have any of the books. Thanks for the tip about Overdrive though!
  14. Yeah, I'll probably go for those while waiting on Mistborn. The hard thing about borrowing from the libary is that Brandon's books are so long that it takes other people forever to read + return them. I waited for Oathbringer for 6 months before just buying the book because I didn't want to wait any longer.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I have read all 4 current books of Stormlight, but not much of the rest of the Cosmere.
  16. Ok, thank you! I have books 1, 5, 6, 7 but no 2, 3, or 4... Everything will make sense when I get there...
  17. I'm realativly new to Mistborn, and I just finished the 1st book. I mostly understand the rules of Allomancy, but I have some questions regarding the fight between Vin and the Lord Ruler. I know that you can't use Allomancy on metal touching someone's body (like how you couldn't kill an Inquisitor by pulling the spikes out of their bodies), but how did the Lord Ruler use Allomancy on the metals in Vin's stomach? Was it because of his increased power of combining Allomancy and Feruchemy? Or something different? Or was it just something I missed?
  18. I think Dalinar, because it would make sense for him to make the ultimate sacrifice, redeeming himself of his past deeds by saving the world. It would suck for any of the more central characters (Kaladin, Adolin, Dalinar) to die, but if you look at it, someone relatively important dies in every book. We had the dream team for such a small time though... IDK, just some thought spam.
  19. Thanks! I tried to alter the text to where someone who had never read the book(s) could understand and appreciate the story.
  20. In an alternate timeline, Dalinar fought not against the Parshendi and Odium, but against world hunger. Oatmeal became the most eaten food Roshar-wide.
  21. Posted a new thread "Stormlight Play" with some explanations of it. The Way of Kings Master Document.docx
  22. Sure! I had to cut out some things (such as the intracies of Shallan's story) to keep it within a reasonable length. I managed to keep the main story (Kaladin's) but changed some things. (I had Dunny not die since that would have required more scenes and complicated things) (I tried to post the file but since I'm new to the site it wouldn't let me)
  23. Hey everyone! I'm new to 17th Shard, but I've been reading Sanderson's works for a while now. Started with Reckoners, then move to Stormlight and Mistborn. Got so inspired by The Way of Kings that I converted the story to a play format. Nerd! So cool to see so many people that like this stuff and all the cool fanart.
