  1. He would have to gain Feruchemy somehow... And enough atium to do this for quite a long time.
  2. A bit tangent, but you don't have to use spoiler tags for Mistborn / WoA / HoA spoilers on Mistborn subforum. Or spoilers for Elantris on Elantris subforum, etc... Or spoilers for any published book on General Theories subforum. (And you should expect unmarked spoilers there. ) You should mark spoilers if either the book is very new (do we still mark AoL spoilers, btw?) or the you're posting on some other subforum, ie Mistborn spoilers in some discussion on Warbreaker.
  3. We've seen Laras manifesting as the mist spirit, so, in a way, yes. Or do you mean something more physical? (He was able to cut people, so it's kinda physical...)
  4. Not as Demox, but a kandra on Roshar would be cool! Also, Saze could make Demoux immortal by turning him to a kandra. Not likely, but possible.
  5. Oops, I forgot that. Unless Renarin is not really Dalinar's son... now that would be interesting!

    Atium Alloys

I agree, though I bet on temporal, not mental. The whole timespace thing...
  7. Whwre? I don't remember them very well, and they're hard to search. Also, Saze couldn't probably know what metals TLR had known. When Saze ascended, TLR was (I suppose) dead (really dead) for a long time, so they could't talk with each other. And I still think he didn't have Chrome and Nicrosil. If he did, I think he would use them “on screen”.
  8. I suggest you try the official RPG, it's good. Not that WFRP is very bad (you're not using 1st ed, are you?), but Crafty Games did a really great job. However, I have no idea, how does it look like. I suppose people knowing much about Allomancy (ie. having Allomancer friends and talking with them quite a lot) may recognize the event, for others it's just a very weird feeling during a moment of intense emotions. If the metal in question is in food / water / etc (and Luthadel has a lots of metals in the soil, so it is likely) the person will may start to burn it unconciously sometimes, and later figure out how to do that. But that's just my guess.
  9. AFAIK Rashek didn't know about Nicrosil or didn't have it, at least.
  10. I like Shallan/Hoid. Yes, the age difference is creepy, but their personalities are a perfect match. And maybe Jasnah/Renarin.
  11. I agree that Demoux probably can be dead (only mostly dead, like Kelsier, not dead-dead, like Tindwyl, Vin or Elend). If a living person can enter Shadesmar than maybe a only-mostly-dead person being in Shadesmar can enter Physical Realm using similar means?
  12. Oh, right. Sorry again. I somehow missed that. I was thinking about that one stalking guy and wasn't sure if his name was Eric or not, or do you meen some other character, and didn't realize you're talking about a real person. Eric, Edward... sounds similar I guess. (Sorry, Chaos!)
  13. Sorry, but who is Eric?
  14. My guess about Demoux is that Atium misting can burn Atium Alloys and Cadmium-Atium (or something similar) allows you to teleport or acces Shadesmar. BTW: How long is WoK set after HoA? Is Demoux growing old normally?
  15. I really enjoyed their relatioship. As for separate rooms etc – not having sex before gennting married isn't unrealistic. About half of couples I know (includning us) also didn't. So it happens. (And I'm glad we did it this way.) Yes, we're Christians, but I guess people could prefer such behavior for some non-religious(sp?) reasons, especially Vin with her emotional issues and Elend with his sex issues – his dad made him go to skaa borthel (sp?) when he was 13 to “turn him into a man” and Elend didn't know that the girl will be killed. And I think Sanderson tends to write relationships with Christian-like wiev on sex, because he is also Christian (LDS are Christians, right? Wikipedia says so, sorry if anyone feels offended by this question) or a religious person anyway. And I actually like it, I remebmer reading Guy Gavriel Kay's “Tigana” (or was that some other of his books?) and it was really good, except for all that lots, lots and lots of sex. Can't please anyone, I guess. Edit: If you want romance, read “Warbreaker”. Yes, it has sex.
  16. To all people saying that KR just quit because they believed there won't be more Desolations: Supposing that the vision is true (not just Honor's predictions or something) they didn't seem to ‘just quit’. They acted strange, as if they were shocked, confused, disturbed or something like that. The theory that they realised their bonded weapons are now full of Odium fits this very well, but there may be alternate explanations.
  17. I can imagine a culture where lying in certain situaton is considered the only honorable choice and a very noble thing. Not sure if such a culture had really existed, samurai-era Japan maybe? But I don't know enough about it to be sure.
  18. Sounds interesting, but I'd suspect that the way to give spikes to non-Scadrial people is not to have them eat atium, but simply to make a spike from it. Mostly because of symmetry: Larasium – Preservation – Allomancy – eating the metal. Atium – Ruin – Hemalurgy – spiking with the metal.
  19. I believe it was a necassary prerequisite, like Vin's Allomancy. But I don't think that just being able to use magic related with the Shard is enough to be able to take it. edit: Do atium and larasium still exist? If yes, which allomantic metal doesn't alloy with one of them? (There are ‘nearly 50’ metals altogether; and base 16 + 2*16 alloys with atium and larasium + 2 said metals = exactly 50. As I understand, ‘nearly’ imples ‘less than’.)?
  20. The scene where Marsh kills the courier and reads Spook's letter to Vin alout for Ruin, because it's written in metal. It's written in metal. And Inquisitors see via Steel Allomancy. So they would see a metal plate with engravings as one shining blue thing. Which makes this scene problematic. OK, maybe his high skill with steel allows him to see the differences in metal plate's thickness... but the letter was written quite fast, so I think the engraving wasn't too deep. Or maybe he reads it with his fingers, sensing the engravings, but I think it should be mentioned. It could make an interesting descriprion. And reading tat way is slow, Ruin would be quite frustrated during it. It could be even more interesting if he had to find someone and order them to read it.
  21. Not exactly, you're missing two details: 1. It actually went to Kelsier for a few months. 2. It is, as far as I remember, confirmed that the Well was something that attuned Vin making it possible for her to take Preservation. At least Sazed wrote so in that book he gives Spook at the end of HoA. I think he is, at that point, a quite reliable source.
  22. Child of Tanavast, child of Honor, child of one long departed... Unless my English is worse than I thought, departed means gone somewhere, not dead. OK, dying is going somewhere too, but this choice of words seem a bit strange. Sure, Honor(probably...) tells Dalinar he's dead and Honor doesn't lie (probably)... but you can't record a message while dead, as far as I know. So when he says “Odium has killed me”, I suppose that he means something like “Odium is just knocking to my door with a bazooka and I have nowhere to hide”. And we don't know what happened next. Maybe Odium just send him somewhere far away or imprisoned him? Why would Odium do that, you'll ask. If he, for example, had some deal with Tanavast, which sain that Tanavast will not intervene in some things, it would be stupid to kill him, because the next Shard-guy wouldn't be bound by that deal and Tanavast, as a long-time Shard-guy would keep his word. Sure, Odium could just have Splintered Honor... or could he? We don't know what happened on Sel, we don't know is Splintering easy, safe and always possible. We don't even know if Rayse did it himself – he might have just manipulated Aona and Skai to anihilate each other and then do something to their Shards. In general – it might not have been possible with Honor. So the question is: Is it actually confirmed (by Sanderson) that Tanavast is dead? Of course it is possible that the person speaking of him as “long departed” simply doesn't know his exact fate, which is being dead.
  23. Try taking a fresh (not frozen, fresh) broccoli and boiling it just for a few minutes, then eating it woith some dip (garlic, mmm...). It tastes very good. And eat just the flowers, the bigger stems(?) have hard, inedible skin. Or peel them. Sorry for the offtopic, but you were off the topic already. As for Hoid, I agree that he tries to create one person capable of nearly all kinds of magic, therefore capable of taking all the Shards. And he likes broccoli, that's for sure. BTW maybe that's how the whole Shard thing began – people were trying to take the power which is good, because it would work better with a person attached, but they were too many of them and everyone wanted it, so they shattered it. And Hoid tries to do it as it was originally planed (maybe it was his plan, or his mentor's?) – to gather them all in one person. I'm not sure if he intends to be that person.
  24. But the letter sounds much like Hoid, the writer has similar sense of humour (only more subtle, but that may be because he tries to sound more serious) and... I don't know how to describe it, he writes / says things that sound really cool and nice to read. And it's not just because Sanderson writes in a cool way – not all characters sound like that. (He writes in a cool way, but it's so cool that he can have a character sound less cool ) About “my friend” – he calls Taln “friend” too, and I think they probably aren't friends or even good aquitances. I think Hoid may just have a habit of calling people this.
  25. Two Mistborn questions (I keep adding those...): If Vin was attuned to Preservation by the Well, thus able to take it, then how and when was Sazed attuned to both Shards? When is Misting's metal determined? Is someone ie. born with the capacity to become Seeker or simply with capacity to become a Misting and the kind of Misting is determined as he/she Snaps? If the first option is true, is it possible to spike Allomancy from a person before they Snap (besides the obvious problem with guessing that they have a potential, but let's assume they're a child of two Allomancers, so the probability is high)? I try to figure out the situation with Vin's sister, did she too Snap extremely early? OK, it was actually three questions. Or four.
