Roshar meets with (whatever's that other planet's name). For certain interpretations of "meet". Also, there is much we don't know about Roshar, which could explain that. Yes, but I think Hoid have visited Roshar before. It may be Yolen (I don't know anything about it beside the fact that Hoid is from there), but it would be a bit strange way of referring to one's homeland.

Why some Shards are better at forseeing the future - theory
Eri posted a topic in Cosmere Discussion
…yes, another one. We know that: Cultivation is better at it than Honor, Preservation was better than Ruin the future may be changed only by those who see it (mentioned somewhere in Warbreaker or the annotations) My theory: All Shards can basically see the future equally well, but those more inclined to action are immediatly willing to mess with it, which causes their future-vision to blur. Cultivation doesn't seem a very active Shard; Preservation was significantly more long-term planner and less impulsive to action than Ruin (I think. Ati must have been pretty impulsive, he got tricked quite easily). That is why they can see future more clearly. Ruin and Honor were willing to mess up with the future. It's a bit like catching a fish with your hand - if you shake the water, you don't see the fish. You need to either wait patiently and make one perfect strike or move slowly and steadily, to not disturb the water. (At least that's how I imagine it. I'm not good at catching fish.) -
3*WoK and Heralds: 1. How honest is Jezren in the prelude (wishful thinking does not count)? 2. Is the strange behaviour of Heralds' swords (disappearing on death, not disappearing when not held) caused by the nature of that swords or by the nature of the Heralds? 3. [if answer#2 = Heralds] Is Szeth using Jezren's sword?

AFAIK Lightweaving is Rosharian; also in Warbreaker Hoid suggests that he learned it on Roshar: (from here)

Except that Vasher will die in the sequel, that might work (no, it's not a spoiler, it's my opinion) Speaking of "despite the age difference" Shallan/Hoid is my OTP. Or maybe rather "Shallan falling for Hoid, becoming his apprentice and lots of cool stuff happening". Also, Kaladin/Dark Side of Surgebinding. I'm gonna get downovoted again, but I just don't like that guy. And both Shallan and Jasnah deserve someone less irritating. Shallarin makes sense actually. Jasnah... I think she's single by choice. I don't see her shipped soon.

I disagree. OK, I'm not a typical epic fantasy fan, I read it because that's what my favourite author writes... but I like when a book starts with something interesting and intense. And untill you ger pretty good with characters, character introduction isn't interesting. Maybe they never are. I hate boring prologues. More of his personality can go after the fight, when we're hooked in. When he explains to the blacksmith why he has to go ^^

Looks in the style of "voidish" symbols/glyphs (I'm starting to doubt they're voidish, do we have WoB on it?) --- arcs instead of lines. Do you have svg or other vector form of them?

*IF* Rosharian year = Weeping to Weeping = possibly some astronomy, but I'd rather bet on conjunction with whatever shardic planet there is nearby or something like that, not just a 360 degrees round the sun. Seasons are irregular, so they don't help. Which means that years in ancient times (Heraldic?) may have had different lengths. Do we know, how longa ago Weepings or Highstorms in general bagun? Also: I support the "longer lifespan" camp, also later adolescence. Shallan behaves more 17 than 19 (yest, thare is a difference, at least for me it was ), and I don't see Szeth as 40 years old. Maybe age is a just cognitive thing, every human group in Cosmere having the same / very similar lifespan in years, because it depends on numbers, not on objective amount of time? (half-joking here)

1. Shallan and Hoid, I can't decide 2. Jasnah 3. Rock, maybe?

Thank you, I must have forgotten that and missed on reread. Torol. Awsomely fitting name for that pig.

Question as in the title. Amaram's first name is also nowhere mentioned, I think. It's not important to the Cosmere ;-) but I'm just curious. Maybe we can ask Brandon Sanderson to post a list of highprinces and other important people with full names sometimes. It would be a nice thing for the wiki.

Thank you. I don't know, I just assumed it's a chapter. It would make a good chapter IMO. BTW: Bonus points for you for not having a prologue but just starting with the proper story and starting it fast. The rule... I overstated it a bit. ;-) But it was somewhere in early seasons, the part about multidrafters and the other group, maybe? I would'n make too much characters if I were you, and definitely keep to 1 PoV. Still, if you want suggestions, I'd say more female characters, not only as counterparts to males, more ethnic types and not as token minority, too. Also I'd like to meet the master blacksmith, he seems important to the protagonist (he raised him, right?) and even if he's just a commoner, I'd like to see him and have Tavaril actually explain and say goodbye, not just disappear in the night. And please, don't kill them in the invasion, it's clche'y. Also, maybe some competent characters (eg fighters), who aren't magic users? It's hard to say more without seeing the world better. I haven't read the 2 part yet.

Very nice to read. I recommend you guys to go see it and support my nitpicking comment. Good job, Veil of the Hoid... erm, Heir of the Void, I mean. Now go write 2nd chapter and 3rd. (In case you don't listen to Writing Excuses --- there is a rule you officially need to follow to be allowed to write stories by the shard of Storytelling. The rule is: You are not allowed to edit chapter 1 until you have finished chapter 2. And only one edit then. you are allowed more edits of one chapter when you finish 1st draft of the book.)

Yes, Ron/Hermione feels natural only because it's a trope (I think). But Harry/Hermione would be much worse. Ron could fit pretty well with Luna, I think. And Hermione with some Muggle scientist, geeks pair well with each other. Or she may and up single. (I have a hard time imagining Ron happy with being single, not with his family background.

Thank you! Maybe you'll like this one better: edit: I've just noticed that the smoke on the top looks like it had a face. Creepy, espacially that I did it myself. For sale? What about the copyrights? Also: http://store.brandonsanderson.com/allomantic-symbol-pendant/ http://store.brandonsanderson.com/allomantic-symbol-earrings/ http://store.brandonsanderson.com/allomantic-table-medallion/ :-)

LOL. I felt confused and complemented, then I realised you mean "making it shine", not "something made in Poland". Heir of the Void, you're welcome. I'm glad you found something.

True, but 2 others would sound stupid in a "magic is mystickal" kind of setting, while they work great with hard magic. This being said, I like simple names best. Enchancing? Perfecting? Or maybe something related to the word "paragon", but I have no idea on how to make a good word of it. I'm not very creative in English, unfortunately. If I were to make something in a language more natural for me, I'd look for something related to distilling, condensing, generally picking the essential part of something, gem-cutting maybe. Or if this magic is less "make it an ideal of this thing" and more "make it what it could be with more luck" (reminds me of Forgery from tES, BTW), maybe something relatedo to "fortune"? Or to prunning a tree --- I got a mental image of a tree of possibilities, and you prune the bad ones, and just like with a real tree it gets better and prettier. A bit of brainstorming, hope you don't mind?

Forgery.

What feeling are you aiming at with the world? Because I think this has a big impact on haw you should name things.

Buy! Even if it's unlikely, I love the idea. Hoid/Shallan is my OTP (yeah, age difference, I know) My guess: Vasher will die in the sequel. (why? well, he's Vivienna's mentor, he's a Returned, he's got a lot of things to feel guilty about...)

A foreigner in the holly grotto? Vun Makak forbid! ;-) (I doubt it) Another one: Was Tien really Kaladin's biological brother?

Cool idea. I think we'll see quite a lot of Scadrial "fabrials" in the southern continent, in Mistborn Second Trilogy.
