  6. Have you ever heard someone scream into a pillow

if not, go listen to one of the local pillow-screamers, then return

that is the noise I’m making right now

    Ugh.

    ugh ugh ugh ugh UGH

Today was supposed to be our first bike race of the year. I don’t love the course, and I haven’t had a ton of time to train but I love racing and I was excited…well nervous excited, the way it always is before big races or games, y’know?

    and uh

    STUPID WEATHER

so there was a ton of rain and lightning by and stuff this morning, so the first people racing got delayed (I was supposed to stage at 1:50). But it was fine. Then, at around 11, there were more delays. This was right as varsity was racing, and they got the notice to pull everyone from the course after the four fastest boys had gone through. They got everyone else off and got a course martial for those boys but uh…

I’ve heard so many different stories of what happened, but the ones from people who were actually there are that lightning struck his handle bars. Everyone heard the boom (seriously SO loud) and so then stuff was iffy for a minute there. (As far as we know he’s ok, we always have 2+ ambulances at races so it got worked out)

And so then everyone’s kinda wondering what’s happening, and we all were just there for an hour or so. Then they give the ok and varsity and JVA girls go out, and for the next couple hours we’re good and it’s working out. Everyone was only going to get 1 lap for the rest of the day, but whatever, we still race, it’s fine

AND THEN THE LIGHTNING COMES BACK

    IT SCUDDING CAME BACK

At this point my race had been pushed back to 3:10, but we were good and ready and staged and ready to go

    and then

    at scudding 3:09

there’s lightning 7 miles from us and getting closer

so they delay another 30 minutes

    And we sit around waiting

and then at about 4 they tell us that actually everything for the rest of the day is cancelled

    AAAGHHHHHHH

i’m really bugged if you couldn’t tell lol

    Spoiler

It's all that extra height. And we're probably a touch more likely to partake in activities with a higher risk of lightning strikes.

I mean, my sport is roughly 80% guys so…you’re not wrong

  7. Corin looked away and continued down the staircase. At the bottom, it turned into a long, dark tunnel. After only a few feet, however, it was blocked by an iron gate. And in front of that gate were several peacekeepers, armed with large guns.
  8. Yeah…I think my high school has about 6 different stakes. It’s crazy.
  9. *cough* key word most *cough male nerd wants to take over the shard *fades away*
  10. Gavin swallowed again. “I don’t—like—being touched.” Gavin startles at the sight of it before his eyes turn blank again. I will survive. And then…then, I will find a way to get back on top.
  11. “I’m not scared,” Gavin whispered, sounding terrified.
  12. Scud that’s right Well I declare that I can!
  13. Gavin swallowed. His hand started shaking. I can’t die here. I won’t. I won’t. I’m stronger than that.
  14. That’s all.
  15. GMHQ: Gavin’s eyes were blank. He blinked slowly, still saying nothing. His mind had started exploring dangerous paths. Be the victim. Your father forced you into this role, you didn’t have a choice— You’re heartbroken. Your father is — I killed him! Mad, you can be mad— I did it! I was stronger than him, stronger than any of them. You have to find a way to survive— Gavin blinked again.
  16. GMHQ: Gavin didn’t answer, or even seem to notice her presence. Arena: “Doesn’t matter,” Corin said. “There’s no time for that now.” Corin nodded sharply. “Come or don’t,” he said to the others. “But…I’m going.” He started down the narrow path.”
  17. Corin didn’t look at her. I don’t care about her. I don’t care about any of them. I don’t. I’ll protect them. It doesn’t matter what they think, because whatever they say, they’ll be right. Besides. She has Mark. She doesn’t need another tie to a world she doesn’t want.
  18. Sweet chasms that’s incredible…beautifully done!
  19. “Right.” Corin pointed over the side of the platform they’re on. At first, it just looks dark. Then a faint path becomes apparent. It’s steep and narrow, and winds down into the darkness below. “That’s…as far as I know, that’s the only way off this platform. Without flying.” Everything about him seemed dull, as if he were fading. This was the right choice, Corin, Ariya murmured. I know. That doesn’t make it better.
  20. Gavin took a breath. Then another. I…killed…him. He heard the explosions, heard the feet and the pounding at the door, but nothing seemed real. He’d actually done it. The man who’d called himself Gavin’s father was dead. In the corner, Corin stirred. “I think…” he cleared his throat, then repeated it louder. “I think I can get us to an exit. Not out. But it’s better than here.” He still wouldn’t meet their eyes.
  21. “Good of you to finally realize it,” Gavin growls, his blade dissolving to mist.
