  1. I just looked at all those and realized Labour by Paris Paloma is literally your theme song it plays every time you (or your characters) enter a room
  2. Aww, man. God Beyond is the final rank…I have nothing to look forward too …on the other hand, 10,000 rep is crazy.
  3. Chat I finally met my mysterious 4th coworker

We’ve worked at the same place for about 8 months now. Texted about shifts and things. But I never met her…

    Until tonight.

Where she pretended to be a patron, and did all the things, and acted clueless. And then, right before leaving, told me who she was.

    i don’t know what’s real anymore 😭

no one can be trusted 😭

Should I know what this means?

  4. Up to you! In my experience, a thread usually does better than a blog, and posting an SU helps people who follow you to know about it.
  5. Essays are finished, unless I decide to do another one for a contest. 5 new assignments to do tonight, but they’re all pretty chill, just math and meteorology. Nice work on the poems! I’ll read them when I get off this mountain. I don’t mind you asking; I’m a writer too, and I know how much an audience matters. Can’t promise I’ll comment every time, but I‘m always happy to give them a read.
  6. Depends on your individual settings. Some people get notifs every time someone they follow posts something, I personally see status updates but that’s about it. Yep, I went through a phase.
  7. Dang bro locked in… the Liz one’s definitely aren’t in order. Somewhere in here there’s a doc linked with most of them on it chronologically.

Why thank you. It’s from Name of the Wind, a favorite book of mine. Most people call me Eddie or Rue. That one came from watching my dog sleep. Because I’m his favorite in the whole world, so he was definitely dreaming of me. Up to you! It’s also okay to let things be short. When I started writing, I rarely went over about 500 words for a story. The more you do, the more naturally it’ll come.

Okay, I like how a lot of them continue between days! That’s kind of fun. And it’s definitely easier to write little chunks at a time than big long stories, I’m glad it’s working for you! Here are a few prompts. Take them or leave them, but hopefully they get the gears turning. “White roses, black doves” (from a song called Take Me Back to Eden, by Sleep Token. Most songs by them inspire really cool stuff, but that specific line has been in my head today, so that’s what you get). “I make no apologies for how I chose to repair what you broke.” “How many different people can I be before I start to tear apart?” (from my pookie @Wittles, who’s now on an LDS mission). “Do you ever watch someone sleep and wonder if they’re dreaming about you?” There’s construction on a lot near your house for as long as you can remember. You’ve watched trucks come and pour masses of concrete, add metal supports, bring in everything they’d need for an enormous facility. Then one day, the workers are gone. In the center of a field of cement sits a tiny cottage. The next day, the cement has become a parking lot for hundreds of cars. You’ve seen no one enter and no one exit the cottage. “You can want something with all your heart and still be afraid to take it.” “How do you know?” “Because I want you.” Happy to give you more if you ever need them. Happy writing, Theo!

I like it! The one called Em Dash is so relatable I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry.
  11. Whichever prompts are great! I base a lot of my stories off song lyrics or specific things I’m feeling or watching others feel, but really anything can inspire. I’ll read your writing and give you a few prompts in a minute. You’re definitely welcome to, just put the post in this thread. I don’t know how many people still read this (or haven’t read most of my work already), but I’ll warn you, there’s a lot here.
  12. Sure, happy to. I can’t promise how much I’ll write, I’ve got about 5 more essays to write in the next couple days, but I’m happy to do something.
  13. Not me falling in love with the version of myself my scholarship essays are creating

  14. Thanks for the suggestion! Most of this thread was created before that feature existed. Yeah, that one’s definitely missing some context just because it’s an excerpt. Jake did mean that literally, it’s sort of a side effect of an ability he doesn’t yet know he has. i’m glad you liked it! I didn’t ever write more on that one, but it did get published in a teen anthology about a year ago. That would be very very sad.
  15. I don’t have a lot of hope, but…anyone here read the entire Malazan Book of the Fallen series?

      Oh wait fantastic

      are you liking it?

I really liked the first book, but then the second had a lot more like dark spice that I wasn’t a fan of, does that keep happening?

No, but I have the first one, Gardens of the Moon, sitting on my to-read shelf (along with like 10 other books lol).

edit: i meant "no" i hadnt read the books yet.

      Uuuuhm... mostly yes I believe

It rarely gets as bad as the Felisin plotline in 2 that's sure

But I don't think it entirely goes away

(I've been told that 9 has the worst scene in the series)

      It's so weird

There are so many characters by now, I can barely follow

Every time I finish one of those books, I tell myself "okay that was a lot I need a break" and it ends up lasting months, I've been in this series for 4 years now

And yet it still grips me back every time

So... yeah I really love it? I think?

  16. Aww wait happy birthday Ene! I haven’t seen you in forever it feels like but you’re still my favorite!

Thanks!! Yeah I wish I was more active on here all the time but there always seems to be something else to do 😭 I'll get back eventually!

Oh, and congrats on hitting God Beyond, that's big!

  17. Oh I never have and I still don’t. But now I’m writing in order on the same doc instead of like…Liz, where we had 5 docs, an app, 3 notebooks, and none of the scenes were in order.
  18. I KNOW ITS WEIRD kinda neat though to be able to just…know what’s going on.
  19. Where did all the growing up happen?

    I’m signing housing contracts

i’m getting scholarships and an adult job

this is too many big things, I’m gonna drink hot cocoa and play some Minecraft

I've almost thought about starting my BYU scholarship application essay...

  20. Yep! This scene has a little more of the cozy, but overall it’s turning out delightfully creepy, and it’s longer than most of my usual projects, and (you’ll never believe this) I’m writing chronologically??
  21. Wait, so I actually really really did. It had such a cool vibe and the lyrics are honestly my exact train of thought every time I go hiking on my own (which is almost daily).
  22. Aurylia giggled. “It was worth it. Just look at you!” But she still nodded sympathetically. “Maybe the games will help. The winning district always has the best sales for a few months. Speaking of which, have you picked out a favorite for this year?”
  23. I passed 10,000 posts! Took a while because I’m not as active anymore, but I did it.

To celebrate, here’s a little scene from a cozy horror story I’m writing right now, it’s very wholesome. This scene is, anyway. Love you guys

  24. Been a hot sec since I posted here, but I’ve got 10,000 posts! So, in celebration, here’s a teeny excerpt from my current project.
  25. Aurylia clapped her hands. “Oh, that sounds wonderful. It really is a pity servants have to retire…almost worth paying for their medicine just so I can keep the good ones around.” She sighed, soft and satisfied. “But tell me, Ruth, how have you been? I haven’t seen you in ages.”
