    Rue raised an eyebrow. "And if I were to do it? Would you, perhaps, be inclined to release the soul of a single mortal?"

    Rue felt a flicker of hope. "What are you saying?"

    Rue gave him a flat look. "I've lived a long time, and seen many things that aren't possible. And if it isn't..." she felt a pang of terror. "I'll try anyway."

    Rue shrugged. "I don't know how. And why...because he's a good person. A kind person. There's probably no one else in this clinic less deserving of death."

    Rue hissed. "Coward," she said, eyes on Lerac. Tal, being the doorman, is at the front desk. "This clinic isn't haunted."

    Siylna stumbled. What? No, no, no... No! Gone... She saw his face in her mind, saw a smile, a boy...a boy who was so full of life. She closed her eyes, mind filling with the memory of his lips...with the memory of her dagger in his back. I killed him... Siylna sank to the floor and, ever so quietly, she began to sing. "You are my sunshine...my only sunshine. You make me happy...when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you...please don't take my sunshine away." He's gone. Forever. I killed him... "The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping...I dreamt I held you in my arms...when I woke, dear, I was mistaken...and I hung my head and cried." A single tear rolled down Siylna's cheek. You will never hold him again... "Please don't take... "My Sunshine... "Away." I killed him.
