  1. Happy Easter!!!!

Easter has been on the forefront of my mind recently and ended up writing a poem but even after the editing I have ever done on anything that wasn't an assignment I'm not sure about. So I'd like y'all to read it for two reasons. First cause it's Easter and that's why the poem even exists. Second because of there is anything I can do to make it better I would very much like to know.

Oh, and just so you know it is about the Christ part of Easter. It's also colored weird.

    Spoiler

    The Greatest Gift

    Sweat, blood mixed
    Dripped down his face

    "Nevertheless
    Not my will
    But thine
    Be done"
    For me
    For you

    Crown of thorns
    Back stinging from the whip
    Vinegar

    Forced to carry wood
    bound together
    Meant to destroy him

    Hands, feet, wrists, side
    Pierced
    Bleeding

    "Father
    Forgive them
    For they know not
    What they do"
    For me
    For you

    Buried In a
    Borrowed Tomb
    For me
    For you

    Tears streamed
    Down Mary's face
    As she went
    Only to find
    An empty tomb

    "He
    Is not
    Here"

    "But
    Is
    Risen"
    For me
    For you

    But why?
    We are not
    Perfect
    We don't feel
    Beautiful
    We don't feel
    Talented

    We give each other wounds
    Not from swords or knives
    But from something
    Much sharper
    Words

    We destroy
    In the name of creation
    We care
    Less and less
    For the things,
    People,
    Life
    Around us

    In our eyes
    No aspect
    Of me
    Of you
    Is worth saving

    But in his
    We are
    beautiful
    We are
    talented
    And we many not be
    perfect
    But there is potential
    Potential to be better
    We are worth
    Saving

    So for us
    He suffered
    Died
    And rose again
    Breaking the bands
    Of death

    To give us
    Hope

    And in
    You
    Me
    He planted
    His light

    So look up
    To him
    He will make you
    Whole again
    Give you strength to
    Rise up
    And together
    We can
    Lift up
    The heavy hands
    Succor the weak
    Mourn with those that mourn
    And lead others
    Home

That's beautiful, Insa. Thank you for sharing that.

This is honestly one of the best poems I have ever read, I've had a lot of spiritual stuff in mind because of Easter recently, and this summons it all up so perfectly,

as Shallan said thank you so much for sharing this with us!!

    3. Spark of Hope

      Spark of Hope

This is great! And even reading the gospels doesn't tell you everything he went through. There's more in the prophecies throughout the Old Testament too, especially Isaiah 53 (what I have here is NKJV). The stuff in [these] is my personal commentary:

1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. [He just looked like a normal guy and wasn't handsome]

3 He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. [He came to save us, but people believed him to be cursed]

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. [We can have physical, mental, and spiritual healing because of the whipping He endured before His crucifixion]

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not his mouth. [Even with all the pain he went through, he didn't cry out]

8 He was taken from prison and from judgement, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

9 And they made His grave with the wicked - but with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hands. [This was translated as "bruise" in English, but in the original Hebrew, the word used meant "utterly crush"]

11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will divide with Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

And I don't remember what verses it is in, but these things also happened to Him as well:

      - His hair and beard were pulled out

      - People spit in His face

      - Lots were cast on His clothes (which means he was up there wearing... well, you can probably guess)

      - So much blood was at the bottom of His cross, wild dogs came and licked the blood up from the stones

      - He was so tortured that when He was on the cross, he wasn't even recognizable as a human

And that's just what I can remember! A movie that does a great job portraying everything from Gethsemane to the resurrection is Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ (2004, 127 minute run-time)
