  1. He waited with her, unsure what to do. Could he do anything?
  2. "Helda. We should go now."
  3. The warden watched, uncaring. Tayen went down next to Helda, embracing her and looking at the warden with pure hate.
  4. "One year, for you. But time was contracted in your perception. This is common practice for immortals, allowing us to save time and resources, and be safer about your type."
  5. The guard led them to some sort of office, where a woman sat. A small sign on her desk indicated her as the warden of this wing of the prison. "Yes? You are a recently released convict, I believe. You have questions?"
  6. "Is it about the time?" the guard asked. "Yes!"
  7. He took her hand, and led them to the prison. The guard that had released Helda was still outside, as though he had been waiting for them. "Do you have someone we can talk to? We have some questions about Helda's incarceration."
  8. He looked at her with concern. "Okay..." He pulled away reluctantly.
  9. "Are you okay with that?"
  10. "We should go to the prison. Try to figure out what they did."
  11. "I love you. So much."
  12. "Well, perhaps she's had her fill."
  13. "It does seem that way sometimes."
  14. "Hopefully things will get better soon. At the very least, no one's after us anymore."
  15. "Alright. Are... you okay? I guess that's kind of a dumb question..."
  16. "Is there anything in particular you want to do, or talk about, or something?"
  17. He kissed her forehead, feeling worried and guilty but, on a deeper level, truly happy to have her in his arms again.
  18. He nodded, and held her tight. "Is... is there anything you want or need?"
  19. "I'm just glad you believe me. Anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with initially being shocked or angry after that long."
  20. "But it still hurts to know what happened to you."
  21. "I love you. I'm sorry."
  22. "You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for. I should have been more careful. I should have been able to do something." @Lightweaver2
  23. "No. I won't." He moved toward her, then wrapped her in an embrace.
  24. "It's okay. Considering what you went through, I can't blame you."
