  3. His frown deepened. "It is not our responsibility to actively inform magic users of the law any more than is fine when they are initially announced. Ignorance is no defense."
  4. "Well I can assure you that such a misuse of magic has been criminal for a fair while."
  5. He frowned. "When was this?"
  6. "It very much is."
  7. "You threatened it. And you still violated his will through magical means, which is a crime. In fact, someone with your description is associated with multiple such actions."
  8. "We know for certain that you assaulted an officer."
  9. "You do not believe that you did?"
  10. "I want to know what you think."
  11. "And what is that?"
  12. "Why do you think I wish to question you?"
  13. "About what?"
  14. "He is also detained. Why do you think you are here?"
  15. "I'll give you a hint. I am a law enforcement interrogator."
  16. A very tall man entered through the jarring light. He sat on a chair across from her, giving a fault amount of space between the two. "Do you know why you are here?"
  17. A door to the room opened, spilling light.
  18. There was still no response.
  19. There was no response. From what she could tell, she was alone.
  20. Tayen suddenly felt a powerful blow to the back of his head, and everything went back. --- Helda woke up in the dark. She was on a chair, her hands and legs bound to it with cuffs.
  21. "Helda? Helda!"
  22. "You're not. We should... get back to the shed?" He supported her, trying to help her walk.
  23. "It's... some sort of dart, I think?" He caught her and pulled it out. "Are you alright?" He looked around with worry.
  24. "No..." He seemed to see something, and looked worried and confused. "There's something in your back."
