“I’m glad you didn’t! We need to figure out what this could do. I’ve never had someone boost my magic like that before. We gotta sing again soon.” Pic paused and glanced at the door. “Well since you’re clearly doing better, do we want to check on the Jar?”

"That. Was. AMAZING!" Pic said as he jumped up. He paced back and forth really quickly, insane happiness in his eyes. "You can't just sing. You can sing! You... you... you're," his voice transitions to singing a whole chord as the staff swirled next to him, "wonderful!"

As Aventine started her singing, the tone of the music changed. It was no longer a performance, but a conversation. The music and Aventine traded back and forth, making the song feel more like someone longing for a second voice. Pic stated in wonder for many measures, and then reflexively started singing along. Aventines notes were full of hurt and hope, and Pics notes responded with joy and healing. The song continued: back and forth the melody went, and the staff looped around the two of them as Pic stood up and moved closer to the cot, and crouched down so he was at eye level with Aventine. The song crescendoed, and Pic experienced something that hadn’t happened before: a song he sung with someone else ended beautifully, and with no one mad at him. Lights swirled around them and burst apart as the final harmony ended on a fifth chord. Pics smile no longer expresses only joy, but wonder and admiration as well as his face was mere inches from hers.

Pic smiled, and seemed to zone out the world around him. He pulled the rotating staff next to him, and began to mess with it. Pic began to add a bouncing bassline, and happy background vocals. The more he added, the more freeing the atmosphere became. Light coalesced around Pic, just enough to tell that he was the source of the music. With all of the sound and the lights swirling around Oic, he looked like a being perfectly placed in his domain. He was where he belonged. After about 5 minutes of adding, layering and looping different tracks, Pic basked in the light of his creation, smiling like a kid on Christmas. Waves of calm and peace were being expelled from the music, but even more feelings of joy and hope were being expelled from Pic himself. Pic turned and smiled at Aventine, then made the looped staff smaller and pushed it over to her and pulled up his chairs next to the bed. “You want to try?” he asks, face full of pure joy.

Pic strolled in as if he didn’t have a care in the world. He dragged two chairs over to the side of the bed, sat in one, and put his feet in the other. He summoned his staff, began to hum a calming, yet upbeat tune, and began to layer it. “You doing ok?” He hummed at Aventine.

Pic eventually got bored thinking with the sunrise, and changed his tune to a more driving beat. He walked through the clinic, and went back to his room, and decided to clean it up. Thanks to his music, the room started to align with his desires, but it still took work to clean up the bloodstains in the pillow, or the grime on the floor. He finished this task, then knocked on Aventines door around lunchtime.

Pic wakes up the next morning, exhausted, feeling a little empty and drained. However, it was still a new day, and Pic tended to be a little more uplifted in the mornings. He went outside, whistling a tune that sounded of a new start. All of the grime from the day before slowly disappeared from Pic as he walked toward the cafeteria. Pic took a deep breath, allowing the smell of freshly baked bread to fill his nose, and allowed himself to smile. Bacon and muffins, the food that made Pic smile more than anything, zoomed toward him from the trays. Pic caught them without a second thought, and his smile grew. He started walking towards the cafeteria’s balcony patio, so he could see the sunrise in this place.

Pic waved at the others, then smiled at Aventine before headed to his own hospital cot/room. He was tired after the days events, and still thought he had much to do. He wanted to find TAAron and Rue to make sure they were still OK, and needed to figure out how to make his magic more consistent. He wanted his magic to help people, and it barely did that today. Those are tomorrow’s problems, he told himself. Forcing the stress out of his mind, he collapsed into his bed, not even bothering to clean up or shower. He slept a dreamless sleep.

"We all need rest. Lets get sleep." Pic whirls on Aventine. "You need to go back to the infirmary, and," Pic looks down at himself, "I need rest as well." Pic moves toward the door. "You go get rest, too."

"It does sound like it was their fault for manipulating you. It is not the piano's fault that it plays a dissonant chord. You've done good while you're here, and at least tried to leave the drugs behind."

Speaking up in this thread for the first time after lurking for a year. Background and stance! Grew up Christian, and had about a year where I doubted if Christianity was correct and dove into apologetics and all that, came to the conclusion that Biblical Christianity is the only worldview that makes sense. What that means is I take the Bible at its word 100% of the time. The most important thing that the Bible teaches is that everyone needs Jesus. No exceptions. The Bible does contradict a large portion of what I have heard out of LGBTQ+ spaces. So how do I relate this to LGBTQ+ stuff? I want everyone to see that Jesus offers peace and hope to fix our brokenness, however it presents itself. I want everyone to see that Jesus is better than anything we can dream of. The way I do that is treating everyone like the image bearers of God they are: deserving of respect, love, and compassion. I can treat someone on the “opposite side” with dignity while simultaneously disagreeing with everything they say. TLDR: Everyone is a human, and therefore I need to give everyone respect they deserve as an image bearer of God, and love as a person sought out by Jesus. Hope this shows stuff clearly from another Christian!
