So Nightblood = Shardblade = Physical form a Spren can take = Splinter of a Shard Does that then mean that Nightblood is a DestroyEvilSpren? That is a serious question btw. He seems to be the Spiritual Ideal of destroying evil given full Sapience to his Cogitive aspect via the Investiture of Breaths. He should also then be a splinter of Endowment in the same way that Rosharian Spren are splinters of Honor/Cultivation. Would a Seon that traveled to Roshar end up in the form of a Shardblade?

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)

I'm cross posting this here, but this is based on a tidbit from the SF signing...bottom Q/A So Nightblood = Shardblade = Physical form a Spren can take = Splinter of a Shard Does that then mean that Nightblood is a DestroyEvilSpren? What exactly is Nightblood? (WoR spoilers inside)
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to menacekop's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Can you please link to that in the Q&A thread for easier reference? That is news to me that we have that level of WoB going on here and I'll have to think on it a bit -
Zombie Survival Guide: Investiture Edition
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Kobold King's topic in General Brandon Discussion
is there a difference between having a tank and having Shardplate? -
this WoB is relevant to this thread as well. They are small shelled creatures from Aimia apparently.

This WoB is relevant here I think. They are from Aimia...

Love that idea, and while it is probably true, how did Galladon start worldhopping or get hooked up with the 17th Shard? Aon Tia?

Zombie Survival Guide: Investiture Edition
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Kobold King's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Me? I'm a Dustbringer with Nightblood... I use my fearsome combat abilities powered by Stormlight to heal myself and lay waste to the armies of Zed, each dusted by a single touch of Nightblood... Hook me up to a direct Stormlight feed and we can go all day long, or maybe add in some Feruchemical nicrosil and some compounding to generate huge reservoirs of Investiture... -
The origin of Shardplate.
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to MagnusMuses's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm in the camp of Shardplate created by the bonds/stormlight still, though re-reading that section on the Oathgate is making me think... The fabrial of which the Oathgates are made is the same material as both Shardplate and Shardblades. And just like both it was able to change its form around Renarin and other's shardblades...- 35 replies

It's certainly possible that the "dissolving" we see of the Elantrian elder has something to do with transitioning between realms. But wouldn't there be stories/notes in any of the books that Raoden has access to about Elantrians passing through the portal and then coming back? because you should be able to come back through the Shardpool right? My personal thought that has been developing as we have these discussions is that the dissolving for Elantrians has less to do with realm hopping and more to do with their level of investiture after becoming Elantrian. They seem to be more on par with the Returned in terms of power level. And I imagine that a Returned sinking into Endowment's shardpool would hear a voice asking them to surrender their Divine splinter back to Endowment. Not saying that Elantrians are splinters, just similar power levels, so similar levels of investment. Maybe they are also splinters of Devotion, but willing ones that the magic system continues to generate... Ahh! We need Elantris 2 with viewpoints about Galladon being recruited to the 17th Shard and then worldhopping away!

Syl - a different take (full book spoilers)
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Arkennys's topic in Stormlight Archive
The possible implications for the Recreance both me as well. It doesn't seem like Kaladin can FORCE Syl to remain in sword form, but that she does so in response to Kaladin's needs and thoughts. For me that says that the KR who abandoned their shards, did so in concert with those shards in some way. There is no way those Spren didnt' know what was coming because of the coordination that you mentioned. Plus the Windrunners are shown still having full access to the Gravitation surge up to the moment where they abandoned their shardblade/plate. What would cause the bonded spren to sacrifice themselves, but at the same time not tell any of the other spren in Shadesmar what/why they were doing it? Also - what would that mean for spren who are probably still around from that time like the Stormfather? How was his bond severed? Did the Bondsmith forswear their oaths? Suicide? The other options is that something caused the spren to go inert while still granting their powers, which caused the majority of KR to give up their shards because "it wasn't right" or something to that effect. Though that doesn't seem correct to me... -
Desolations Were a Tool Used Against Odium
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Leuthie's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm not saying that T's big secret won't be that Honor/Cultivation were behind the desolations in some way... But if Odium's influence in people was the trigger for more Desolations, would the the remainder of Honor's power and Cultivation still work together to do that? Similar to how snapping still occured with most of Preservations mind "gone" or the visions from Honor were still passed to Gavilar and then Dalinar? -
To me the whole "I'll watch your world burn" thing is an indicator that he's NOT the main antagonist of the story lines. If he was, 1 I don't think he would have admitted that to Dalinar, 2 it says to me that he is trying to help when and where he can, but he REALLY wants to stop the "bad" shards like Odium... maybe kill them and splinter the shards and he will watch but not help Roshar burn if it helps him achieve that goal.

Some thoughts on Shardplate *Some spoilers I guess*
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Zhalfirin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmm... hmm... i think I want to agree with this idea, but for some reason it's just not meshing with my thoughts. I feel like if it was a fabrial of somesort, that there would have been stormlight storing gems in them initially in the flashback scenes. The only reason I say that is because the Oathgate was an ancient fabrial and it had the gems storage for powering... I guess I'm in the "comes with more ideals" camp, though I don't think it necessarily is another spren, otherwise Kaladin would have heard the screaming when he picked up the helm, right? Or was he already on the downslope in his bond with Syl at that point and thus not using stormlight as efficiently as he was previously? Maybe that is why no screams?- 30 replies

Great questions! And welcome to the boards! I have assumed her "brokenness" was related to the Gavilar's death and her inability to "stop" it, much like Dalinar was broken by the same event (in my mind). She had attracted Ivory by her actions, but then it was the death of her father that caused her to have the breaks necessary to bond Ivory. I read the Navani/Jasnah thing as a natural outflow of a very brilliant independent girl/woman and her mother who seems to like to meddle a bit in peoples lives to me. Though there could definitely be more to the store. There's always another secret... I also read her revulsion to the men in the alley as a form of righteous anger against those would abuse their "power" to steal from "innocent women". Again... could be more to it though!

Aimia Questions [ Spoilers ]
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to theofficetroll's topic in Stormlight Archive
Are you talking about the part where Mrall is able to: Hmm... maybe. We do know there are 2 types of Aimians and I think we've only seen one on screen so far as we know. -
Words of Radiance Reactions (SPOILERS)
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
I mean to be "fair" the eye color thing is obviously a hold over of the KR surgebinding and slow eye transformation related to the Shards. I wonder if eye color changed by Surgebinding or bonding with a Shardblade is hereditary or not...- 320 replies

Aon Tia would be just as if not more dangerous than Shadesmar in the Sel region though don't you think? To use Tia you have to know exact distances according to the in world explanations we have, which without some very advanced mathematics would be very hard to use to travel between worlds. I agree that there is something weird about the pool, and maybe the white sphere in the mural is a hint, but i'm unconvinced that is our hint.
-
I supposed there must be another way then heredity on thinking about it. Hoid has access to and utilizes Feruchemy. It's something related to Feruchemy that allows him to "forecast" where he needs to be for the action... could be the Lerasium bead that he as worked into a metalmind granting him Feruchemy, but I think he was doing the "foresight" thing before he got access to Feruchemy.

Would you take a Shard? (General Spoilers)
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Observer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You say potato, I say patato! -
Then we have conflicting WoB going on here (source): Either he has refined his thinking or there was a mis-communication in the more recent quote. Every quote we have about Shadesmar talks about it in direct relation to the Cognitive Realm overall ("Hoid is adept at manipulating Shadesmar"...etc.). There are other quotes I've seen that say people on different worlds wouldn't necessarily call it Shadesmar, but by a different name. Either way though, the Cognitive Realm is the same every where which was my main point. Land = Water and vice versa. What would the Chasm area of Arelon appear to be in the Cognitive Realm? Ideas?
-
I agree with your theory, could also be that Shallan entered physically in tWoK? But ?? on the first part. Shadesmar is just a name for the Cognitive Realm as named by the "first people who found it" but the Cognitive realm is still the Cognitive Realm regardless of which world you access it on (though Sel presents difficulties). It's still "Shadesmar" as we know it, just with a different name. So the water areas would be land, etc.

Can't catch them all... even with the most efficient programs.
