  1. She wrestles him off her, spinning a full 180 degrees from behind and lodging her dagger straight into the crevice underneath his lower rib. She left that knife rammed in his ribcage, distracting him with that pain as she scrambled away, passing the second dagger from her fractured arm's hand to her dominant hand.
  2. Jane tightened as she tucked her limbs close to her chest for a moment, almost like springs, then counted to six in her head. And then she exploded, pushing all her limbs out at once with power, simultaneously landing her good heel directly into Kaza's previously stabbed shoulder. With this instant movement of force, she tumbled out from Kaza's arms and fell to the ground as he continued running, throwing him off balance. She spend four seconds on the ground breathing and catching stamina, then she jumped back up, keeping weight off her ankle. Shoot. I have to run. Okay. I need to do this. Wincing and gritting her teeth, Jane closed her eyes for a moment. Using one hand to hold steady her slightly fractured forearm, she bolted back, away from Kaza. She bit her lip until in bled just to ignore the pain of her ankle. Putting weight on it burned like a hot knife searing through her bone, but she had to keep running. If she survived these games, she could get it looked at later. She knew she was making it worse. But still. She ran. Leaving Kaza off balance behind her, with an even more injured shoulder.
  3. Jane grits her teeth and her cheeks flush. The pain shot up her leg, debilitating her knee. He was weaker than her. He was so weak. She could kill him She could kill. Kill the weak. The powerless. But was that truly a kill? Now limping, Jane used her two daggers to stab and scrape deep into Kazaa's bloodied face.
  4. Jane wrenches her arm away, enough for her upper arm to hold free, but feels her forearm and wrist fracture slightly (greenstick stable fracture, so not too severe- as in no bones out). She screams and with the adrenaline of the pain thrusts herself at Kaza, and with all force pushes him to the ground, using her non-broken arm to stab at his eyes viciously.
  5. Jane screams as some breath leaves her, but tries to twist her arm away. She aggressively twists her wrist on that arm, stabbing Kaza's shoulder of the arm that was grabbing hers. Then, still grabbed, she used her right foot to swing down underneath Kaza's legs, in attempt to knock him off his feet. As she twists away, she ducks his knife, and uses her free arm to swing at his legs.
  6. Jane pulled out her left arm, dragging the dagger back from Kaza's side (@TheRavenHasLanded can pick severity of injury). She felt Po's knife graze her arm, and blood trickling down from the scrape. She spun back, trying to hook her right arm deeper, slicing across Kaza's neck, while using the momentum through her left arm to slice at Po's arm. @justice magician
  7. Who was this? Not Jane, no. Someone new. A murderer. An assassin. Who will never go down in history, because she chose to shift the blame by "attempting to kill" yet another victim... herself. And yet that was why she was given a chance to live. That was why she gave herself a chance to live. Jane Cora Rae will never go down in history as the one who framed Delilah to her siblings. Misguided their fear. So she could work against them. How terrible was it... This unknown murderer could've killed Jane by putting her in the hunger games. How terrible. Who, truly, was this? Jane gave herself a chance. Did she deserve to live? Or was killing far too hard? Or did she prefer to be kind? To take on every single other person's burden in the entire world? Her eyes opened, and her grip on the daggers strengthened as she thrust her left arm farther towards Kaza's stomach. Did she deserve to live? That was when Jane Cora Rae realized, sometimes starting fires is easier than putting them out.
  8. With a small yell, Jane jumped to the side, away from the swing, and tried to swing at Del's shoulder from behind her. "This isn't a wrestling match," Jane snarled. She was supposed to be the nice one. The little sister. Polite, reserved, quiet. Being quiet has one loophole. It leaves you to your own thoughts. And sometimes... Your own thoughts can be the most dangerous. Jane used the momentum of her swing at Del to lunge at Kaza, unsuspecting and recently untied. She used her right arm to try to hook around his neck, slicing the dagger and swinging, while trying to use the left arm's dagger to plunge into his side.
  9. Jane snaps around and grabs Po's remaining wrist, pain in her eyes. "I killed my sister by accident," she said through gritted teeth, "I don't want to make any more mistakes." She released him, but with force, backing off after *trying to wrench his arm back and push him down. It was then that she spun back. "Don't be sorry." There was fire in Del's eyes. "I don't know you." Jane pulled out her daggers and crouched a little. Someone is killing my family. And they thought I was dead. Prove them wrong or let them win. I hate being proved wrong. I need to win. 3 years ago I killed my uncle, aunt, and four year old sister, Lily Isa Rae. Lily was supposed to be the only one to survive. I killed her, accidentally, trying to murder Delilah Auburn Rae, the eldest Rae sibling who was, at the time, 18. I was 13. I swore never to make that mistake again. Lily was supposed to be the only one to survive. A few weeks ago, Delilah Auburn Rae left mysteriously because one of her connections was in dire need of her, miles away. The letter was fabricated by, yes, myself. Once she reached the caravan, ten mercenaries stabbed her to death on the third night. It wouldn't bring Lily Isa Rae back. Before chosen for the hunger games, Hestia Sylvie Rae and Pheonix Yin Rae died at 19 and 18, respectively, due to a "crash." That wasn't an accident. It wasn't a mistake. They, too, were murdered. Now there were only two Rae children left. Aspen Leo Rae. And the murderer: Jane Cora Rae.
  10. Jane looked down at Kaza, then over at @Lord Spirit, and finally back at Po. "I believe it means most now."
  11. Jane hesitated. Instead of lashing back, she simply smiled lightly. "Kaza, your soul has gone too far, I'm afraid," she shook her head a little, reminiscent, "Death changes people. Blood changes people. For better, or worse. You'll get used to it, if you have the time." Her eyes were nostalgic. She wasn't the same girl she was when she first stepped into the arena- hopeless, realistic, light-hearted; engaging with Aaron with a genuine love of fun. No, she wasn't that girl. Was she ever that girl? Did she really change? "Bye, Kaza. We only have a matter of seconds left, and one of us will die. I just wished you had found your change earlier." Jane turned and walked away from where he was tied up. She faced Po. "I haven't forgotten," she said softly. @justice magician
  12. Footsteps approached Kaza and Po. Jane stopped, two arms distance away. Kaza had been tied. Po had tears in his eyes. "We made it," she said, with a weak smile. She looked between them, then at the arena. "You made it." Friendships in the hunger games were difficult to maintain. When she first met Kaza and Po they had been friends already. Now, they had to kill each other. Or be murdered. How odd. We all play society's games. How are the hunger games any different? Do all humans have silent bloodlust, or fatal curiosity?
  13. Jane sidestepped out of the way of moving battle. This, she thought, This was chaos. Her two brief acquaintances, dancing wildly for blood. Her blouse was sprayed with blood, caking in the heat. Was this excitement- adrenaline- or was this fear and terror overcoming the tributes. Did it matter? "Please stand," Jane muttered under her breath, a silent wish. She never fought someone who wouldn't fight back. She'd never killed someone who accepted it. She only killed those who may have struggled, though powerless. Lily Isa Rae... Her aunt... her uncle... It was an accident. She hadn't meant to kill Lily. A kill of those desirous of death is simply a gift. If only this fourth tribute, on the ground and without a limb, could fight her back- then it would be fair enough. Only then would Jane be able to kill her, truly. Jane didn't kill anyone who wouldn't fight back. "Please wake up," Jane whispered, stepping in an advanced position towards @TwinSouls, hand on her weapon at her waist.
  14. Jane quickly side-stepped the battle and approached where @TwinSouls had been lying down. We have no reason to kill each other. I have to focus on my family. She shook her head, a weak smile on her face. I need to fight for them. I'm not dead yet.
  15. She saw, first, the shreds of her blouse, bloodied and torn. No. She saw, next, the face of her ally, sworn to protect her. Her breath caught. His siblings had all died. Now his family name is lost. She made a fist around the message paper in her hands. All of my siblings have been killed, save one. If I die, my family name will burn. She released her breath and unfurled her fingers. Who's next? Lily Isa Rae, died at 4, would've been 7 in two days. Died along with aunt and uncle. All killed by Jane. Accident. Hestia Sylvie Rae, died at 19. Pheonix Yin Rae, died at 18. Same day. In a "crash." Delilah Auburn Rae, died at 21. Was prime suspect for previous crimes. Murdered in a caravan discreetly. Aspen Leo Rae, 16, possible target. Her twin's time was ticking out. Aaron, a friend, died at 15 in the hunger games. Would've become a peacekeeper. Who's next? All these murders. All these deaths. How much time did she have left? Who's next? She ripped the paper with the message confirming her sister's death. Would she let herself die? would she let herself end the Rae family name? Who's next? Would she give up and show weakness now, when strength is needed most? Who's next? Would she prefer her hands bloodied with her own blood or that of another, at a time when whoever wanted her family dead gave her a chance at survival? Who's next? Would she give up all hope for her family-- for her siblings-- because she simply didn't want to fight even when she was given a chance that none of them had been given? Who's next? Would she truly die now, when everyone else had died, because it was easiest, even while no one counted on her to make it out but herself, to protect her honor, her siblings honor, and the possibility of survival? Who's next? No. She wouldn't. She had to keep fighting. Fighting, that is, until the end.
  16. Jane was shocked awake, almost electrically, after her startling dream sequence. Her eyes darted amongst the remaining tributes. It's all chance, now. A roll of the dice. Someone was trying to tell her something through those visions... The ten of spades. The screaming. The murder. Her heart raced, and she unfurled the paper in her hands. "Delilah Auburn Rae has been found dead in a caravan on May 22nd and will be buried next to the late Hestia Sylvie Rae, Pheonix Yin Rae, and Lily Isa Rae." Mother must have found her leaking information. Aspen was right all along. Jane was right all along. Jane felt nothing but panic rise in her chest. However, she smiled. All along, it wasn't Delilah to be feared of. No, Delilah was simply a minion, murdering her sister and her brother, perhaps. Delilah was simply framed. Her eldest sister, always watching, always following, always snickering, always sending letters anonymously. The sister she knew was dead. The sister she was terrified of was dead. Delilah Auburn Rae. And most shocking of all: This sister, the villain to all, was framed. She couldn't have been the mastermind, working with Jane's parents. No, because she was dead now too. It was all part of the plan. Jane's face soured at the thought that Lily Isa Rae... the joyous, happy four year old... had been killed by Jane's own hands. It was an accident. She just kept telling herself that. But whoever it was, killing her family... Jane had given them an advantage. By accidentally killing her own younger sister. Whoever it was, killing her family... they gave Jane a chance at survival. A slim one, but a chance. Why not just kill her? Was Jane too dangerous, or too weak? A thought crossed her mind, freezing her in terror. It's only Aspen and I left now. All the other Rae children have been murdered. Aspen's the only one still free. Anger and panic built up in Jane's throat. Aspen, my twin, if you can hear me. You need to escape quickly before the poison gets to you. If you want to survive... You need to escape now.
