Ask ANYONE anything
Throw TheLiving Silverware replied to dannnex's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I think I would give massive donations (like 500 Bn each) to lots of humanitarian associations , or who fight for protection of environment, for women and LGBT+ rights... Also give tons to schools and education structures, especially in developing countries. They're doing an incredible and essential work with way too little resources. With the rest, I'd probably buy myself a house in the mountains. (There's always going to be something left, right? Since the amount of money is infinite ? And by the way, how do I not crash the economy by flooding the world with money, like Mansa Musa?) You are locked in a house for one month with the sole company of whichever Brandon character you want. Who is it?- 3987 replies

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Throw TheLiving Silverware replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
That would actually be really cool! Granted. Your bane is that you are teleported to a planet where everyone uses cheese for their armor. (Cheese can stop Shardblades, it's canon! ) I wish for a faster subway. Or teleportation, alternatively. -

Not anymore. (Though sometimes I wish I was still there.) TPBM is often mistaken for younger than they are. -
Ok, I'll throw in my two cents. I think the first one has already happened from the end of Era 1. Because Ruin and Preservation have never been balanced. Per the quote above: Preservation gave away part of his power to create humans. (Or more exactly, both Shards gave some power but Preservation gave more.) That power is "stuck" permanently in humans, which created an imbalance in Ruin's favour. The dispersion of most of Ruin's power in Era 1 (by Elend, but also a bit Kelsier) overcompensated, and so Preservation regained an upper hand, and was dominant in Harmony for 300 years. But now, as Ruin's power comes back, it switches the balance back to the other side. In short, Harmony used to have more Preservation than Ruin in it. It is just no longer the case. As of the end of Era 2, Sazed (the Vessel, who hasn't been changed enough yet to the Intent near-caricatured like Tanavast, Leras, or Ati) is still resisting this change, but at the same time realizing the shortcomings of his plan (the whole "I made your life too easy in the Basin vs the South" thing); this reckoning could have been accelerated by ruinous influence. Now on @discord=more_preservation's music analogy (can't ping you for some reason): If this is true (which it might very well be imo) then wouldn't you get Harmony when there is balance, and Discord when that balance is broken? To get an harmony, a note must last exactly as long as it has to to fill its purpose in the grand scheme of things (the melody played), and then go away. This sound like a pretty good middle ground between "Everything must die at some point" and "Things should stay as they are". And it also means that Harmony is already Discord, and has been since day 1. Sazed just does not realizes (yet). We know from the Odium/Passion thing that the name a Shard gives itself can not match the Intent: (WoB found by @alder24 in this topic, thanks a lot because it's reading the two threads one after another that gave me that idea) So yeah, Discord can indeed be more Preservation. And I think it is already, but not for much longer. The "They shall love him for it" can mean many things, but my interpretation is that Sazed accepting that he is Discord (though in a different way than before) will have some consequences that will be welcomed by the (Northern?) Scadrian population. This is incredibly vague I know Maybe they have also come to the conclusion that their lives were too easy in the Basin, after seeing the Southern Scadrians, and would welcome a... direction change. Given what Brandon said about "cold war" in MBE3 we will probably see some antagonistic relations between North and South.

Welcome! Please do not hesitate to share your craziest theories, we're here for that ! My favourite book... aaaagh this is so hard. Oathbringer maybe, for Dalinar. Or RoW, for Kaladin's part and Adolin's trial. Or HoA, for the insane ending. Or Yumi, for the great character work with Yumi and Nikaro. Or... I'll stop here before listing all the books

It would also work well in contrast with Szeth's PoVs, which we are going to get a lot of since it's his book. And yeah, I'd love to see other nations. We're going to have Horneaters soonish in Horneater, but the western nations would be great too. Have we even ever seen people from Liafor or Tu Bayla on screen? -
I always thought I would be Ravenclaw, and that's what i answered to the poll here. I mean, I'm the bookish science nerd who gets Truthwatcher in the Radiant test by a ridiculous margin every time. But then i decided to actually go pass the test. I found I already had an account I had forgotten about, and I was sorted in Hufflepuff back then. I created a new account to pass again the test - still Hufflepuff. But when I think about it the character I recognize myself the most in, within all the HPverse, might be a Hufflepuff (Newt Scamander). So... surprised but not surprised when I think more about it. And hey, my second Radiant order after Truthwatcher is Edgedancer. So I guess you can take one from the Ravenclaw total above, and add one to Hufflepuff.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted. You get the remains of a fish from the Roman era. And a bunch of excited archaeologists show up to your place because that fish completely changes what they thought about fishing during the late Roman empire. Your bane is that you don't have nails anymore. I wish for motivation. -
Honestly, that's a hard no for me. My life would become a nightmare. Having all the time I want to do anything would just lead me to not doing anything, since anyway I have eternity to do it. So why bother doing it now? You're clearly not in the mood to start learning Spanish today, so let's start that tomorrow. Or the day after. Or next week, or next year. What difference does it make in the end? And in the same line of thought, why making new friends? Why getting to know people only for them to pass away sooner or later, while you stay there unchanged? Why inflict this on you? Better to stay by yourself, living in the same block for decades without being able to name anyone in the area. All I can see in this universe is me at like 150+, just surviving in groundhog day mode, having not actually lived anything meaningful in over a century. Conscious of that state, hating everything about it, and yet still staying in it. Terrified by the fall in the stairs that would end my eternity prematurely, yet at the same time almost waiting for it. What makes time meaningful is that it's limited. When you remove that, it loses any value. At least, that's how I think it would go for myself. Feel free to disagree.

Quick Fix 64: Spies in Starsight
Throw TheLiving Silverware replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hello, I'm finally here! Just a few thoughts after reading the thread too much times: -dannnnex is... I have no idea, but being most concerned with the size of the IC is kind of a red flag for me. Well, an orange flag at least. But then there's the meta argument, which is not my favourite kind of argument as players can change their playstyles, but here it doesn't really fits with what we had of him so far, so... null for now but if I completely disregard Kas' analysis he's an elim lean for me -Stick's defense of dannnnex is rather blunt, really strong for an early C1. But it could be genuine as well, I don’t know. In fact it almost seems to strong for an e/e interaction. So slight elim lean there but like really slight - The Winzik claims... did anyone take that seriously ? For me they’re clearly NAI jokes (or maybe attempts at making noise and confuse the elims, as Kas said). Which is not that good looking for Aman and TUN Just to be sure: am I completely misunderstanding this post, or is Kas clearing people (Aman Fifth Almond) who hadn't posted yet? That's all for now and will likely be all for today. I'd have liked to wait even a bit more a bit to fully make up my mind on people I mentioned above, but since it's midnight for me I'm signing off now and I'll leave an hesitant vote on dannnex because I think as far as I can trust a D1 read (ie not much) he's still the most suspicious of the ones here Btw thanks JNV for the quokkas- 993 replies
