  1. My school has changed its mind again. Two of the retake finals was supposed to be homeworks, but the teacher responsible for our section has opposed it at the last minute. Now, I've got two homeworks for next week and also two exams in two weeks, well after the other exams. This is only the last dumb thing we've had to deal with recently. I'm starting to feel like they want me to fail. Which isn't completely wrong; apparently the other two classes in our section have been awful all year long, and one of the teachers admitted to us they'd* made the finals had been really hard because of that. I'm getting tired of paying for the others on top of paying for me already. I'm away in an internship now, and I can't believe I still have to worry about their nonsense even then. And the prospect (more and more likely with everything I'm getting thrown at) of sending one more year there seems unbearable now. *They as in the teachers as a whole, not just that individual teacher.
  2. (Skipping past Highprince bc no TPBM in his post and lower activity) I haven't eaten a worm, and it doesn’t sound appealing to me in the slightest. TPBM should be studying.
  3. I don't see that as a bad thing. Listening to other people singing is fun. But I kinda want to burst into song all the time. Even now I have to restrain myself to sing Red Hot tunes to the rest of the bus. So my perspective might be biased, even though I'm not a theatre nerd. Edit:
  4. *dryer than the Sahara* Thanks. Btw, this was 49 pings (50 if you include Cataclysm). I counted. I definitely dont have anything better to do, such as starting my revisions for next week's exams.
  5. "If someone with a truck driving license could come to my place with me, I could bring supplies. " says Silv, 2nd ideal Theorydancer who stayed pretty silent until then. Of course! *tries a nice person grin, but it ends up looking kinda creepy despite his best efforts*
  6. Really cool! I love Celtic music too (I've been playing for years in a traditional music orchestra, and we played quite a few Irish songs). Great motto for your life too. 45.34/46.2
  7. I've been thinking for a while now one of the main conflicts for Era 3 will be North VS South. I swear I remember Brandon alluding to a cold war in E3, but I can't find the WoBs. Maybe I was mixing it up with the other potential cold war in MB - Scadrial vs Roshar in E4. Anyway, here's my two cents on where do we go now: Tensions start growing between North and South. After all, the Southerners gave keep of a holy relic to a North-friendly kandra, and they destroyed it (from their PoV). Plus, there's the fact that Sazed sheltered the Northeners during the Catacendre and made them the rich and green Basin, while he did nothing for the Southerners who would have all died had Kelsier not stepped in. Basin which is, by the way, probably more attractive than the Southern frozen lands. On the other side, the North feels threatened by this powerful neighbour who's been sending airships quite close to their lands without them even noticing, and who has access to really powerful technology in the medallions. And now they could be accusing them of destroying the Bands, which they had nothing to do with. I do not think this would be enough to create a general pervasive mistrust between North and South, but it would be enough to create bellicist factions appear in at least one of the sides (wanting to subjugate/conquer/straight up exterminate a neighbour seen as a threat). Autonomy sees the opportunity of having Scadrial destroy itself, and therefore supports these factions from behind the scenes, possibly without them even knowing. She also keeps triggering diplomatic incidents. (Kinda like what @JustQuestin2004 was suggesting earlier) Sazed lets this happen, as he wants some kind of pressure on the North to make them catch up technologically, and the threat of a war with the South is exactly that. However, he can't really act against the deep reasons driving to the war, as he is still locked by his inner conflict. But he tries to lock the two parties in a stalemate, so that the war stays cold and everyone keeps inventing without actually destroying each other. The mass destruction weapons both sides now have are helping in that, by creating an equivalent to our world's nuclear dissuasion. Kelsier is playing the fireman, because he also doesn't want of a war. Autonomy keeps lighting fires as quickly as the Ghostbloods put them out, and Sazed doesn't do anything because together the Ghostbloods and Autonomy's minions are maitaining the status quo he wants. Kelsier doesn't like that, as he feels Scadrial should rather go and get a lead in the space race now. He might try to start acting against Harmony? Not sure how it works with all his resources being directed against Autonomy. But he definitely wants a change in management. So yeah, I think this is about where we start Era 3: with North and South in a cold war, and Kelsier, Sazed and Autonomy in a weird 3-way "conflict". Then of course, since those books are written by Brandon Sanderson, our main characters will do their shenanigans and turn this in an absolute chaos before book 1 is halfway done. I can't wait. (Those are just my own thoughts, speculating based on just the content of the later W&W books. I haven’t really kept in touch with the fandom since TLM released, so I don't really know what did Brandon say recently.) If this doesn't happen, I kinda want someone to write that as an alternate universe fanfic. Edit: wow this ended up way longer than i thought
  8. When I hear a song for the hundredth time and I still can't stop smiling. Or crying.
  9. Everyone turns back their deck, so that they see only the back of the cards. From now on, and until this card is played again, you see the others' decks but not yours. You still have to play from your own deck, with unchanged penalties if you play a wrong card. Communication between players is forbidden. If you play this card last, you haven't won and every player gives you half of their deck (done after turning back the decks, so you have no idea what you have in your hand) (You didn't say about it having to be playable.)
  10. Granted. School ends tomorrow. It restarts next week and never stops again ever, not even for weekends. I wish for faster buses. Or a teleporter.
  11. Everyone here is to awkward to initiate anything, I guess.
  12. YAAAAY YOU'RE BACK! This was a really cool read, and I can't wait for the rest! Btw, I still remembered most of your story even though I haven't read anything from it in months.
  13. *opens the Shard for the first time in a while* "Wait why did Eddie mention me in a topic I never posted in two weeks ago?" *reads the above* *proceeds to die of laughter in the public transports*
  14. For a couple days now, the sun has been rising early enough for me to see it before diving in the subway tunnels. I missed that.
  15. What does this meal taste like? I did it myself! I... never thought you could use a fire extinguisher for this kind of thing.
  16. Yes, in 10 languages. I can actually speak 2 of those, and make simple sentences in a third one. For the other ones I just know a couple words (and one of those languages is dead anyway.) Bonjour, hello, guten Tag, buenos dias, bom dia, buongiorno, salaam aleikum, ni hao, zdrazstvouitsié (or something), salve. TPBM doesn't want to go in class.
  17. Hello again, I'm back! I haven't been here for a while, so what about a quick life update?

Last month has been... more of the same. Old and new demons, more and more work, more and more stupid school administration, more failed interviews for my internship. But also some fun times and laughs with friends and family, good books, good movies (go watch Dune if somehow you haven't already), and slow reconstruction work.

Speaking of books, I have finally gotten my hands on copies of Tress and Sunlit Man! This means that I am caught up with the Cosmere, for the first time since TLM released. You might see me occasionally in the theory boards now.

How about you? How's been life treating you recently?

Thanks!! I went to a masquerade ball and decided that masks are so storming FUN.

  18. Now I've read Tress and Sunlit, I'm gonna give my thoughts here. (4: Frugal Wizard. Haven't read that one, probably won't for a while. From what I hear, it will probably end up here anyway because I don't see it top the other SPs.) 3. Sunlit Man. Really great, but I felt that we had too many holes in the main character's story to fully appreciate it. It might be improved with later Cosmere releases. Also, the permanent breakneck pace made it exhausting (which I guess was what he was going for, but wasn't exactly what I needed right now.) Again, great book, but not my favourite. 2. Tress of the Emerald Sea. Banger from end to end. I fell in love with the characters as soon as they were introduced, the worldbuilding was incredibly cool... Pretty much an instant favourite for me. Best read by a crackling fire, or with a blanket if unpractical. 1. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. Just as Tress, an instant favourite. Some of Sando's best character work with Yumi and Nikaro, cool worldbuilding, a nice plot with a brilliant climax... But what inches it ahead is how much I connected on a personal level to Nikaro's struggles. Even though my brain is whispering me that Tress is the better book, my heart and my vote go to Yumi and the Nightmare Painter *whispers* Everyone. I think he's watching
