  1. Absolutely. Let's face it folks, Dalinar may be all manner of awesome right now, but he was as bad as they come back then.
  2. What you have in Roshone is a man who knowingly and willingly abused his power for personal gain. He destroyed two people's lives to gain wealth. I don't care what the situation is, there is absolutely nothing that can justify putting someone like Roshone to another position of power with even less oversight. And Dalinar knew that exactly. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have argued for Roshone being made a tenner. He knew what the moral and legal thing was, but he chose to just give up because it was more convenient. Roshone knew important people, and the dead people were just some nobody darkeyes after all. That is corruption. Justice has to be blind, otherwise there is no justice. Though, there is a bigger problem of course. Both Dalinar and Gavilar ignored their duties and left Elhokar--a nineteen year old (or somewhere around that age)--in charge of the kingdom, all alone, for months. Even though it is obvious even years later he is nothing but an overgrown boy. Even though it's glaringly obviously he is VERY, VERY liable to being manipulated. Years. Later. Obviously Dalinar was dealing with some personal stuff at the time, and obviously this was first and foremost Gavilar's fault. But these guys killed thousands, personally, to unite the kingdom, in the name of the greater good. I have no sympathy for whatever they were going through. They chose to rule the kingdom. They should have been there to actually rule the kingdom. You are also arguing that Roshone didn't really break any laws with regards to Tien. You're right. But laws can't cover every situation perfectly, because it's not possible to predict life perfectly. No set of laws is perfect, and there is always people who will skirt the law. It was obvious Roshone was such a person. So again, he shouldn't have been in a position to have power over other people's lives. Anyway, it wouldn't have taken a genius to figure out what kind of a douche bag Roshone was. They obviously didn't know that the chain of events they created would lead to Tien's death or Kaladin's enslavement, but they should have known something bad was going to happen. The decision to exile him to Hearthstone where he had power over thousands was cowardly, irresponsible, and inexcusable on Dalinar's and Gavilar's parts, and Elhokar's to a lesser degree because of his incompetence.
  3. There would of course be a rather big elephant in the room. Namely, Dalinar is partly responsible for Tien's death and whatever else Roshone did to the family, because he wasn't ignoring his duties. I think the second Lirin found out about what happened with Roshone, he'd get the first pointy thing he could find and try to stick it into Dalinar (and get his but kicked in the process).
  4. By the way, Molly creeped the hell out of me in this book. I mean, she was so obviously faking it with her hugs, and giggles, and smiles. Molly was never really like that, even when she was a kid, and certainly not after Changes. Add to that the Winter Lady mantle... She just felt wrong from the second she appeared. It made me sad, the possibility that she might just be... gone.
  5. Nicodemus cried. I mean, seriously, that happened.
  6. As far as direct asskicking capabilities go, Skybreakers. They're like Windrunners, only they have Division, which sounds cool, instead of the (so far) useless Adhesion. Overall, though, definitely Elsecallers. They can go anywhere they want and create anything they want at will.
  7. Looks to me like you've been very passionate reading it.
  8. Pretty sure he was referring to Cultivation.
  9. Because his spren looks nothing like Wyndle. And the fact he'd never Lightweaved (Lightwoven?) doesn't mean anything, since he'd never manipulated the Abrasion Surge either.
  10. You need admin privileges to delete any page on the wiki. Just leave them empty, or add a {{delete}} template to the page, and one of the admins will take care of it for you.
  11. Another difference is Szeth thinks Shardplate would block his Surgebinding. Obviously not the case for Radiants.
  12. It's supposed to have something to do with rigidity. There was a WoB where Brandon gave an example of, IIRC, a towel being infused to become completely rigid. I can't quote the WoB to you, but I think it was asked at Steelheart Seattle signing.
  13. Obviously, the Bondsmiths can use Full Lashing. That's not what I'm talking about. And you don't know that Skybreakers can do both Basic and Reverse Lashings, just guessing. Read my previous post again.
  14. You are referring to the Taravangian interlude where he says two of the Honorblades give Regrowth ability, correct? That confused me too. Previously I'd though that Reverse Lashing and Regrowth were unique to Windrunners and Edgedancers, and the other orders would get one unique ability too. But the Taravangian quote kind of implies that might not be the case, and Skybreakers could be capable of Reverse Lashing just like the Windrunners. Of course, it's still possible that Regrowth is shared by two orders, but Growth is the one available only to Edgedancers, so the theory is not completely out yet.
  15. I think this refers to a potential parshmen genocide. They're about as defenseless as babies, so the suckling child is actually a metaphor. I'm not sure who would get to decide on something like this, maybe Dalinar, or how they would go about accomplishing it though.
  16. Amaram - To Scheme Dalinar - To Get Crem-faced
  17. Ever since I read that chapter, the meaning of "drynets" has been bothering me. From Tyn's reaction, I'd say it's something sexual, and after all it's a sailor curse, so they are supposed to fit a certain stereotype. If the nets are dry, I guess that means they haven't been in sea for some time. So, maybe it means someone who hasn't gotten laid for a while? Cursing their luck or something? What do you guys think?
  18. This is specific to the SA, but it's weird that Dalinar is always called by his first name, while every other house leader is called by their family name. Sadeas for example always calls him Dalinar, yet Dalinar never calls Sadeas "Torol," even though they're supposed to be very old friends. In fact, the only person who even thinks of him as "Torol" is his wife. Ditto, Aladar or Amaram or any other lighteyes. Shallan even says "Uncle Sebarial" at the meeting after Szeth's attack, which is even weirder.
  19. Lots of grunting too. I usually have a problem associating actual sounds with the word because it isn't something that I see that often in my own interactions with people.
  20. The Coppermind already has all of the epigraphs in order. Go here and check the intro text of each section, there are links to individual articles that has what you want.
  21. Rashek was just another one of those bad guys who should have read the Evil Overlord List. (and the story needed him to die so it could progress.)
  22. The question isn't about wanting to hurt someone though. They ask who'd be the last guy standing if they all fought. That means Hoid would be fighting, but would not be able to inflict much damage on his opponents. He is at least at the second Heightening, and possibly has an Awakened sword. He is an Allomancer, maybe even Mistborn considering the lerasium bead. He has some kind of access to Feruchemy. Between these abilities, he should be able to do some damage. But he isn't. That's what I find interesting.
  23. There's also this that I found interesting: It reminded me of Brandon saying everything Hoid says is significant and this quote from WoR: I guess Hoid doesn't pack much of a punch. Which is interesting because he's never seemed to be anywhere near a pacifist to me, and with all the different magic he has access to he should be able to do some serious damage.
  24. That's probably supposed to be fall 2016. Even Brandon can't finish a thousand page book in a year and a half.
  25. Huh. Now I'm wondering what would happen if Dalinar looked at his wife's statue. Would his vision blur or something?
