  1. So, some of you might know that I'm an astronomy nerd. (It's in my signature.) And today, the first image from the most cutting-edge space telescope yet has been released. Behold, the first publicly released image from the James Webb Space Telescope: Bask in its amazingness. The first thing that really stood out to me was the gravitational lensing that we can see. What it looks like to me is that the big central elliptical galaxy is lensing most of the more distant galaxies into that characteristic ring shape. (Those distant galaxies look redder due to redshift caused by the universe's expansion, so they're a little easier to spot.) The closer galaxies that aren't being lensed must be closer to us than that large elliptical one. There's so much to dig into, but I'm no expert, and so I can't wait to figure out what discoveries are going to be made from this image alone. The galaxies are all incredibly detailed. I love this picture. It really opens your eyes to how big the universe really is. I can't wait for the other images, which come out tomorrow. This thread is for any and all astronomy nerds that want to discuss this image, and the ones that are coming later. And if I'm the only one that posts on this thread, then so be it, because I can just bask in the glory of these images myself. And if you don't want to talk about the science behind it and would rather just rant about how cool it looks, that works too. EDIT: Here's the NASA article that will do a much better job of explaining this than me. https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2022/nasa-s-webb-delivers-deepest-infrared-image-of-universe-yet
  2. "Yes," Bookwyrm said. "Truthlash... that's an interesting name," he continued. "Where'd you get it?"
  3. "No," Bookwyrm said. "I'm sorry." He paused, then continued. "But I'm willing to know you now, so I can remember you later. What's your name?"
  4. Bookwyrm walked up to Truthlash. "Are you okay?" he asked.
  5. This caused all the newly made Jedi to leave the army.
  6. Bookwyrm jumped in and saved them with his Narrationblade because he wanted to see what was going to happen next.
  7. Yes. It's much better. TPBM is either going to or already has launched fireworks today.
  8. My brother is. And he demolishes me. Seriously. And he's two years younger that me. (Though maybe that says something about my skill...)
  9. ...Yes. TPBM has siblings (or family members) that will occasionally say or do weird things in their sleep. (For example, two nights ago, my brother woke my dad up saying "IT'S COMING THROUGH THE WALL!!" in his sleep.)
  10. I don't remember how long it took... sorry. I do remember that there was a gameplay element that made you do a bunch of side quests in order to progress in the story. It was annoying, and probably made the play time longer that it would have been otherwise. But it was worth it when you finished it.
  11. I have not seen it. (I'm assuming what comes next is you telling me I should watch it?) TPBM is currently not in the state where they live.
  12. My bowels feel somewhat strange... That wasn't supposed to- wait...This might work for us...
  13. Sir, our allies are suffering from fatal mosquito attacks. Now! Launch the giant grapes!
  14. Bookwyrm temporarily turned himself into a dragon to see if that worked.
  15. It's also fun when everyone is someone who can counter, and you're just standing next to each other trying to counter attacks that aren't coming because the other person is trying to counter. But what's really fun is countering Kirby's flaming hammer when it's fully charged.
  16. Foe wrote the secret details of his plan in a gigantic tome that he hid in a secret place. Bookwyrm went on a quest to find it.
  17. My current main is Shulk, and also Pyra/Mythra if I'm playing on a device with the DLC. I like Xenoblade Chronicles, if you can't tell. There are a few others that I'm somewhat good at, but those two (three?) are my mains. (It used to be Link, but then I realized I wasn't that good with him.)
  18. Do you think it's because I'm @The Bookwyrm, not just Bookwyrm?
  19. I'm moderately good at Mario Kart and Smash Bros. But I'm sure people here could beat me. Also, I win.
  20. The more I learn about this game, the more I want to play it. I can hardly wait. I love how the game takes aspects from XC1 and XC2 and puts them in the environment, characters, story, and basically everything else. But I have also noticed many aesthetic nods to XCX. For example, the desert environment looks a lot like Oblivia, especially because there seems to be some wreckage from the Mechonis there. There are a ton of other simple aesthetic elements that remind me of XCX. I also noticed that, at least for the original classes, the characters from Keves have circle shaped Art icons, and the characters from Agnus have diamond shaped ones, referencing the Art icons from the game their country comes from. Just a little nod that I thought was cool. Another thing I noticed that has minor spoilers for both previous games: Overall, I am incredibly excited. They've created a very well thought out world that obviously has deep lore and secrets, and I can't wait to play the game and find out what it has to offer.
  21. Did you accidentally do the thing where you think a conversation is at one point, but it turns out there's an entire other page?
